Yaharra

Yaharra is an 11-year-old girl who lives in Whitby, Ontario with her family and golden doodle, Yobi. Her family is from the Commonwealth of Dominica and Jamaica. She loves doing arts and crafts and solving the Rubik's Cube - her record is one minute and 23 seconds! In her room, she shows us her favourite things, before taking us to the golf course to practice her technique. One day, she hopes to become one of the first Black Canadian professional female golfers! Her special surprise comes from one of her role models who is also dedicated to the sport and encourages her to keep swinging. Back home, Yaharra teaches us how to make Dominican bakes - yum! Yaharra also enjoys playing chess with her brother Yusseuf and learning about traditional Caribbean dances - like bélé, one Dominica's oldest dances.
