Entering an animated train a robot is making stuff as a TV. screen shows an assembly line. The robot searches through a trunk, throws out items, then leaves the train, and passes by a "Making Stuff" sign with his circular robot sidekick.

A lively theme song says MAKE, MAKE, MAKING STUFF,
MAKING STUFF.
MAKE, MAKE, MAKING STUFF,
MAKING STUFF.
MAKING STUFF, MAKING
STUFF TO PLAY WITH.
MAKING STUFF,
MAKING STUFF TO EAT.
MAKING STUFF,
LET'S ALL GO TOGETHER 'CAUSE
MAKING STUFF,
THERE'S NEW FRIENDS TO MEET.
SO COME WHERE NOT
MANY GET TO GO,
AS WIZ AND GEARS,
START THE SHOW!
MAKE, MAKE, MAKING STUFF
MAKING STUFF!

A man holds a paper with drawings of a violin.

Gears says OOOH WIZ, IS THAT WHAT OUR
VIOLIN IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE?

Wiz says THOSE ARE THE PLANS
FOR OUR VIOLIN GEARS!
THEY'RE BASED ON
THE STRADIVARIUS!

Gears says THE WORLD'S MOST
FAMOUS VIOLIN!

The man walks into a workshop. He puts a silhouette over a piece of wood and draws the shape.

Gears says THIS IS SOMETHING
EVEN I COULD DO!
TRACE THE SHAPE...
THEN CUT IT OUT!

The man cuts the wood.

Wiz says EASY!

Gears says HMMM. MAYBE MAKING A VIOLIN
ISN'T THAT HARD AFTER ALL...
THAT IS THE BEGINNING
OF OUR VIOLIN!
OKAY, THIS LOOKS
A LITTLE HARDER.
HE'S ROUNDING THE TOP, AND
HE'S BEVELLING THE EDGE.
RIGHT DOWN TO THAT LINE...
OKAY THIS LOOKS
A LOT HARDER.
HE'S SCULPTING THE VIOLIN
RIGHT OUT OF THAT
BLOCK OF WOOD.
WE SHOULD LEND HIM
OUR POWER SANDER.

Wiz says NO SANDING ALLOWED!
ONLY CHISELLING
AND SCRAPING!
THE WOOD HAS TO
BE DUST FREE!

Gears says INTERESTING...
SANDING IT WOULD CLOG
THE POURS IN THE WOOD.
THEN IT WOULDN'T
SOUND GOOD.

Wiz says DING, DING, DING!

Gears says THANK-YOU!

Wiz says RIGHT!

Now the man cuts a hole on each side of the violin.

Gears says COOL... WE'RE DOING THE
CURVY SOUND HOLE.
THIS IS TRICKY.
IF YOU MAKE ANY MISTAKES,
IT'S START-OVER-TIME.

The man uses a tool that has two steel legs hinged together.

Wiz says THIS IS A MEASURING TOOL.
WE'RE MEASURING EVERY PART
OF THE SURFACE TO MAKE SURE
IT'S THE
RIGHT THICKNESS,
JUST LIKE STRADIVARI DID.

Gears says LOOKS LIKE WE NEED TO
TAKE A LITTLE MORE OFF.

Wiz says NOT SO LOUD GEARS,
HE NEEDS TO CONCENTRATE!

Gears says YOU'RE RIGHT,
WIZ.
THE WORK HE DOES HERE
WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN A SO-SO EVERYDAY
VIOLIN, AND A GREAT VIOLIN.
SORRY!
I MEAN, SORRY...
WE'RE GOOD.
WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP,
WIZ?

Wiz says LOOK DOWN...

Gears says HMMM... THIN STRIPS OF
WOOD IN WATER...
I KNOW WHAT THAT
USUALLY MEANS.

Wiz says IT MAKES IT EASIER TO
BEND IT INTO A CURVE.

The man beds the wood using a pipe.

Gears says THAT'S WHAT I
WAS GONNA SAY.

Wiz says AND THAT PIPE IS
HOT LIKE AN IRON.

Gears says THAT MAKES THE WOOD
MORE BENDERIFIC TOO.

Wiz says YOU MEAN FLEXIBLE.
BENDERIFIC ISN'T A WORD.

Gears says I KNOW,
BUT IT SHOULD BE.

The man holds a piece of the violin.

Gears says FIGURE OUT WHAT
THIS PIECE IS YET?

Wiz says IT'S ONE OF THE RIBS!

Gears says HAH!
THE VIOLIN HAS RIBS.
IT LOOKS LIKE ONE
OF THE SIDE PIECES.

Wiz says AND THIS FRAME WILL HOLD
IT IN PLACE WHILE
HE MAKES THE OTHERS.

Now the man glues the pieces to the back of the violin.

Gears says YAY! WE'RE READY TO GLUE
THE RIBS TO THE BACK!

Wiz says INDOOR VOICE.

Gears says SORRY,
SORRY.
THAT'S GLUE.
HE'S ADDING IT TO THE
SPACE BETWEEN THE WOOD.
NOW HE'LL CLAMP IT DOWN SO
IT STAYS IN PLACE
WHILE IT DRIES!

(music plays)

Gears says YAY!
WOOOHOO!
GO!

Wiz says GEEEEAAARS.

Gears says SORRY.

(music plays)

Now the man traces a shape on a chunk of wood.

Wiz says TIME TO WORK ON THE NECK.

Gears says UH-HUH.
JUST LIKE BEFORE,
WE'RE TRACING THE SHAPE
ONTO A BLOCK OF WOOD.
THAT'S A HUGE BLOCK,
WIZ!
TO GET THAT TO SIZE,
IT'S GOING TO TAKE A
LOT OF WHITTLING.

Wiz says FIRST WE'LL DRILL HOLES
FOR THE TUNING PEGS.
NOW WATCH THIS.

A fast forward clip shows the neck being carved.

Gears says THAT'S HOW MUCH
CARVING IT TAKES?
WOW!

He whispers I MEAN, WOW!

The man puts some glue on a piece of wood.

Wiz says THIS PIECE IS CALLED
THE FINGER BOARD.

Gears says RIGHT!
THAT'S WHERE YOUR FINGERS
GO WHEN YOU PLAY IT.
LET'S LEAVE THE
GLUE TO DRY AND...... WE'LL FINISH
ASSEMBLING THE BODY.
WE'LL ADD THE TOP HALF...

Wiz says IT'S CALLED THE BELLY.

Gears laughs and says I LOVE THAT.
WE'LL GLUE THE BELLY TO
THE REST AND CLAMP IT DOWN.

He laughs

Gears says GLUUUUE THE BELLY.
I CAN'T SAY THAT
WITHOUT LAUGHING.
CAN I START
BEING LOUD AGAIN?

Wiz says NO.

Gears says HOW ABOUT NOW?

Wiz says NO.

Gears says NOW WE'RE READY
TO ADD THE NECK!
BRUSH ON A LITTLE
GLUE AND...
PERFECT FIT!
CLAMP THE PIECES
TOGETHER...

Wiz says NOT TOO TIGHT.
YOU DON'T WANT TO
DAMAGE THE WOOD.

Gears says WHAT A BEAUTY!
SORRY!
INDOOR VOICE.

Wiz says TIME FOR A NICE
COAT OF VARNISH.

The man applies a coat of varnish to the violin.

Gears says LOOK AT THAT SURFACE.
SMOOTH,
RICH, BEAUTIFUL...
I CAN HEAR IT
SING ALREADY!

Wiz says NOT YET!
WE NEED TO ADD THE PEGS,
TO ATTACH THE STRINGS.

(violin plays)

Gears says I CAN'T STAY QUIET
MUCH LONGER, WIZ!
NOT WHEN I HEAR THAT
MAGICAL VIOLIN SOUND!

Wiz says HOLD ON GEARS!
WE STILL NEED TO TIGHTEN
THE STRINGS, AND...

Gears says I CAN'T KEEP
HOLDING IT IN WIZ,
I'M GONNA BURST!

Wiz says JUST A LITTLE
LONGER GEARS!
WE'LL PULL THE STRINGS
ONTO THE BRIDGE...
ALMOST READY!

Gears says MMMMPH.

Wiz says WAIT FOR IT...
WAIT FOR IT...

The man touches the strings.

Wiz says TUNING... BEAUTIFUL!
OKAY, GEARS,
LET LOOSE!

The man plays the violin.

Gears says YEEEEEEE-HAAAAAWWW!
