(Music plays)

An animated clip shows a big orange X on a blue background. It explodes and letters and numbers come out of it in all directions and float around.

Mathemagician Eric appears on screen. He’s in his mid-twenties. He has short dark brown hair and a beard. He wears a red T-shirt with the show’s logo, blue jeans and red Tennis shoes.

The screen turns red and the logo of the show appears next. It reads "MathXplosion." Meanwhile, cones, cubes and dices float around it.

Kids voices sing a song with lyrics that go
WHAT A HIT
IT'S NOT A TRICK

JUST FOR YOU
COOL AND NEW

The episode starts with Eric standing in a workroom, he’s working on something with a mix of geometric colourful shapes.

Eric says OH, HEY.
DID YOU KNOW MOST OF
YOU ARE THE SAME SHAPE?
WELL, OF COURSE, WE'RE
ALL HUMAN-SHAPED.
BUT DID YOU KNOW
MOST HUMANS ARE,
IN FACT, SQUARES?
MMM!
OF COURSE, THERE'S
AN AMAZING TRICK
THAT I'LL SHOW
YOU TO PROVE IT.
LISTEN UP,
SQUARES.
HERE WE GO.
BUT FIRST, I NEED
SOME CHALK.

He opens the chalk box but when trying to take one out all it comes out is powder. He magically touches the powder and it turns into chalk he can use.

He smiles and says HOW CONVENIENT.

Next, he lies on the floor.

Eric says SO, FOR THIS TRICK, I
GOTTA LIE DOWN.
NEXT, YOU'RE GOING
TO NEED TO TAKE SOME
VERY SPECIAL
MEASUREMENTS.
I'M GOING TO USE
MY SIDEWALK CHALK.

Next, he starts marking specific points according to the position of his body parts. First the feet, then the head, both tip of his fingers with arms wide open, and then connecting all dots.

Eric says FIRST, YOU HAVE
TO MARK YOUR FEET.
LIKE THIS.
NEXT, MARK WHERE
YOUR HEAD LAYS.
PERFECT, NOW OPEN
YOUR ARMS WIDE
AND TAKE THOSE
MARKS AS WELL.
THERE YOU GO.
NOW, ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS
CONNECT THE DOTS TOGETHER,
LIKE THIS.
IT'S OKAY TO USE A
SPECIAL MEASURING TOOL
LIKE THIS ONE.
IT'LL MAKE YOUR
SHAPE EVEN BETTER.

The four points blink. He uses a ruler to connect them all and comes up with a square.

He says SQUARE.
DID YOU KNOW THAT

IN FACT, SQUARES?
MEANING THEIR ARM SPAN
IS THE SAME LENGTH
AS THEIR HEIGHT
FROM HEAD TO TOE.
PRETTY COOL.

An animated clip shows him on the floor, with both arms fully extended to the sides. A dynamic arrow connects the top of his head with the bottom of his feet. All of his body is contained in a perfect square figure.

Eric continues
OH, AND THAT'S NOT
THE ONLY COOL THING
I WANT TO SHOW
YOU ABOUT SHAPES.

(music plays)

Eric draws a circle and colours it inside. He taps on it and a new clip plays. The video on screen shows Eric and other people standing still with both arms extended to the sides. As they appear, they rotate to the side and they enter a certain geometric figure.

He says WATCH THIS.
SO, MOST PEOPLE
ARE SQUARES.
BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT
SOME PEOPLE ARE RECTANGLES?
MANY BASKETBALL PLAYERS
HAVE REALLY LONG ARMS,
MEANING THAT THEIR ARM
SPAN IS EVEN LONGER
THAN THEIR HEIGHT.
AND THAT'S WHY THEY'RE
SO GOOD AT THEIR SPORT.

Eric appears back in the workroom. The blackboard behind him has drawings of people inside squares.

He says SO, THERE
YOU HAVE IT.
I'VE SHARED YET ANOTHER
AMAZING SECRET.
NOW, ALL YOU
APPRENTICES HAVE TO DO
IS TRY IT OUT WITH
YOUR FRIENDS.
JUST REMEMBER,
FOR MOST OF US,
OUR HEIGHT IS ROUGHLY
THE SAME MEASUREMENT
AS OUR ARM SPAN.
BUT YOU TRY IT
OUT AND FIND OUT
IF YOU'RE A SQUARE

A big explosion brings the show’s logo back on the screen.
