An animated clip shows a big orange X on a blue background. It explodes and letters and numbers come out of it in all directions and float around.

Mathemagician Eric appears on screen. He’s in his mid-twenties. He has short dark brown hair and a beard. He wears a red T-shirt with the show’s logo, blue jeans and red Tennis shoes.

The screen turns red and the logo of the show appears next. It reads "MathXplosion." Meanwhile, cones, cubes and dices float around it.

Kids voices sing a song with lyrics that go
WHAT A HIT
IT'S NOT A TRICK
IT'S MATHXPLOSION
JUST FOR YOU
COOL AND NEW
MATHXPLOSION!

The episode starts with Eric standing in a workroom, surrounded by balloons, snacks and a birthday cake.

He says YUM!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
HEY, DID YOU KNOW THAT I HAVE
AN AWESOME WAY TO GET YOUR
CALCULATOR TO TELL
YOU YOUR BIRTHDAY?
MM-HMM.
IT'S QUICK, IT'S EASY, AND
IT'S HOW I'LL FIND OUT IF
I HAVE TO SHARE MY BIRTHDAY
GOODIES WITH ANY OF YOU.

(music plays)

He tries a bite of a cookie and says MMM.
COOL.

(music plays)

Next, he’s sitting on a couch with a large calculator he got as a present.

He says ALL RIGHT, I'LL TRY
THIS TRICK OUT ON YOU.
FIRST YOU'RE GOING TO NEED
A CALCULATOR LIKE THIS ONE.
BEFORE STARTING ANY
OPERATION ON A CALCULATOR
BE SURE TO ENTER CLEAR,
THEN WE'RE READY TO GO.
ONCE YOU'VE DONE
THAT, ENTER 7.
GOT IT?

He turns the calculator on and presses number 7 that appears on the screen.

He continues
NOW MULTIPLY THAT BY
THE MONTH OF YOUR BIRTH.
IN MY CASE, AUGUST.
SO IT WOULD BE
THE 8th MONTH.
AND, THEN, PRESS EQUALS.

The blackboard in the back turns into a screen. It reads "7 times 8 equals 56."

Next, he says NOW, SUBTRACT 1 FROM THAT
NUMBER AND PRESS EQUALS AGAIN.

Next, the caption changes to "56 minus 1 equals 55."

Eric continues
THEN MULTIPLY THAT NUMBER
BY 13 AND PRESS EQUALS
ONE MORE TIME.

Next, the caption changes to "55 times 13 equals 715."

Eric continues
NOW, ADD THE DAY OF YOUR
BIRTH TO THAT NUMBER.
I WAS BORN ON THE 21st, SO
I'LL ADD 21, THEN PRESS EQUALS.
NOW, ADD 3, AND
PRESS EQUALS AGAIN.

Next, the caption changes to "715 plus 21 plus 3 equals 736 plus 3 equals 739."

Eric continues
NOW, HERE'S A BIG STEP.
MULTIPLY YOUR NUMBER BY
11, AND PRESS EQUALS.

Next, the caption changes to "739 times 11 equals 8129."

Eric continues
I TOLD YOU IT WAS BIG.
NOW, YOU ARE GOING TO
SUBTRACT THE BIRTH MONTH.
I'LL PUT 8 FOR MINE,
AND PRESS EQUALS.

Next, the caption changes to "8129 minus 8 equals 8121."

Eric continues
THEN, SUBTRACT THE
DAY OF YOUR BIRTH.
MINE IS 21, AND
PRESS EQUALS AGAIN.

Next, the caption changes to "8121 minus 21 equals 8100."

Eric continues
THEN DIVIDE BY 10, AND
PRESS EQUALS ONE MORE TIME.

Next, the caption changes to "8100 divided by 10 equals 810."

Eric continues
NOW, I WANT YOU TO ADD 11,
AND THEN PRESS EQUALS,
AND DIVIDE THIS FINAL
NUMBER BY 100.
BUT DON'T PRESS
EQUALS YET.

Next, the caption changes to "810 plus 11 equals 821 divided by 100."

Eric continues
WE NEED TO MAKE
THIS DRAMATIC.
DRUM ROLL, PLEASE!
(Drum roll plays)

Eric says THANK YOU.
THANK YOU
THANK YOU!

The caption on screen changes to "8.21."

Eric continues
NOW, PRESS EQUALS, AND THAT,
MY FRIENDS, IS THE MONTH
AND DAY OF MY BIRTHDAY.
8-21, OR AUGUST 21st.
AND ON YOUR CALCULATORS
SHOULD BE, IF YOU CAN
BELIEVE YOUR EYES, THE
MONTH AND DAY OF YOUR OWN
BIRTHDAY DELIVERED VIA THIS
AMAZING CALCULATOR TRICK.
AMAZING!

(music plays)

Both the calculator screen and the big screen show the right date. The big screen has fireworks exploding.

Eric says SO THERE YOU HAVE IT.
I'VE SHARED YET ANOTHER
AMAZING SECRET.
HOW TO CALCULATE BIRTHDAYS
WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A
TRUSTY CALCULATOR.
BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER.

Eric is ready to have some cake in the workroom.

He says NOW, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS
TRY OUT THESE CALCULATIONS
WITH YOUR FRIENDS.
AND, REMEMBER, IT'S
NOT MAGIC, IT'S MATH.
BY THE WAY, HELP
YOURSELVES.

A big explosion brings the show’s logo back on the screen.

(music plays)

The end credits roll.
