An animated clip shows a big orange X on a blue background. It explodes and letters and numbers come out of it in all directions and float around.

Mathemagician Eric appears on screen. He’s in his mid-twenties. He has short dark brown hair and a beard. He wears a red T-shirt with the show’s logo, blue jeans and red Tennis shoes.

The screen turns red and the logo of the show appears next. It reads "MathXplosion." Meanwhile, cones, cubes and dices float around it.

Kids voices sing a song with lyrics that go
WHAT A HIT
IT'S NOT A TRICK
IT'S MATHXPLOSION
JUST FOR YOU
COOL AND NEW
MATHXPLOSION!

The episode starts with Eric standing in a workroom. He plays with mirrors. Half of his body sneaks out and half of it is the reflection in the mirror. He makes funny faces.

Eric says UHH!
DID YOU KNOW THAT MIRRORS
ARE ESSENTIAL TO MAGIC?
IN FACT, MAGICIANS HAVE BEEN
USING MIRRORS FOR YEARS
TO CREATE ALL SORTS OF
MYSTERIOUS ILLUSIONS.
WITH TWO MIRRORS AND
DIFFERENT ANGLES,
I'LL SHOW YOU THE
CLASSIC TRICK OF HOW
I MULTIPLY MYSELF.

When speaking, his voice gets an echo and that look funny. He frowns.

Next, he stands in front of a mirror.

Eric says HERE'S A WAY TO MULTIPLY
OBJECTS OR EVEN YOURSELF.
TO START, YOU'RE GOING
TO NEED A HINGED MIRROR
JUST LIKE THIS.
AND BE READY TO PLAY
WITH DIFFERENT ANGLES.
I'LL SHOW YOU
WHAT I MEAN.
POSITIONING TWO MIRRORS
AT DIFFERENT ANGLES
CHANGES THE NUMBER OF
REFLECTED IMAGES YOU CAN SEE.
BECAUSE OUR MIRRORS
ARE SO BIG,
I CAN PROVE IT TO
YOU USING ME, ERIC.
OKAY, IF I PLACE THE
MIRRORS AT A 90 DEGREE,
OR AS I LIKE TO CALL IT,
A RIGHT ANGLE...

(music plays)

He moves the mirror and makes sure it creates the desired angle. The screen shows a graphic that renders visible a perfect 90 degree angle.

He says AND IF I PEER IN...
COME, PEER IN
WITH ME.

(music plays)

Eric is now in front of the folded mirror. The screen shows captions that count each side for it with numbers 1, 2 and 3.

Eric says THERE I AM - WELL,
THREE OF ME.
NOW, POSITION THE
MIRRORS CLOSER TOGETHER
MAKING A SLIGHTLY
SMALLER, OR WHAT I CALL
AN ACUTE ANGLE -
IN THIS CASE,
ABOUT 72 DEGREES - AND,
YOU CAN SEE FOUR ERICS.

(music plays)

He moves the mirror again in order to put it in a 72 degree angle. The reflections go up and the captions on screen come to 4.

He says AND IF I MAKE AN
EVEN SMALLER ANGLE,
AT ABOUT 60 DEGREES,
ALSO AN ACUTE ANGLE,
BECAUSE IT IS SMALLER THAN
A 90-DEGREE OR RIGHT ANGLE,
YOU WILL SEE, TA-DA,
FIVE ERICS.

He goes further and stretches the mirror once again. The angle is now 60 degrees and this makes a total of 5 reflections.

Eric continues
JUST REMEMBER, THE NUMBER
OF REFLECTIONS CHANGES
EVERY TIME YOU CHANGE THE
ANGLE OF THE MIRRORS.
THE SMALLER THE
ANGLE, THE MORE YOUs,
OR IN THIS CASE
MEs, YOU SEE.
AND THAT, MY FRIENDS IS HOW
I'M ABLE TO MULTIPLY MYSELF.
PRETTY COOL, HUH?

(music plays)

Eric draws a circle and colours it inside. He taps on it and a new clip plays. The video shows an animated letter X in the middle of two mirrors. When standing in front of it, the big letter gets what looks like an infinite reflection. Following are other examples of the same situation.

Next, he says DID YOU KNOW THAT IF
YOU PUT AN OBJECT
BETWEEN TWO
PARALLEL MIRRORS,
THE NUMBER OF
REFLECTIONS IS INFINITE?
SERIOUSLY.
AND CHECK THIS OUT,
IF YOU PLACE ONE OF THOSE
MIRRORS AT A SLIGHT ANGLE,
THE REFLECTIONS
CURVE OFF.
TO WHERE, YOU ASK?
INFINITY, OF COURSE!

(music plays)

Eric appears back in the workroom

He says WELL, THERE
YOU HAVE IT.
I'VE SHARED YET
ANOTHER AMAZING SECRET
ABOUT ANGLES, MIRRORS AND
MULTIPLYING REFLECTIONS.
REMEMBER, THE
SMALLER THE ANGLE,
THE MORE REFLECTIONS
YOU'LL SEE.
ONCE AGAIN, IT'S
NOT MAGIC;
IT'S MATH.

A big explosion brings the show’s logo back on the screen.

The end credits roll.
