An animated clip shows a big orange X on a blue background. It explodes and letters and numbers come out of it in all directions and float around.

Mathemagician Eric appears on screen. He’s in his mid-twenties. He has short dark brown hair and a beard. He wears a red T-shirt with the show’s logo, blue jeans and red Tennis shoes.

The screen turns red and the logo of the show appears next. It reads "MathXplosion." Meanwhile, cones, cubes and dices float around it.

Kids voices sing a song with lyrics that go
WHAT A HIT
IT'S NOT A TRICK
IT'S MATHXPLOSION
JUST FOR YOU
COOL AND NEW
MATHXPLOSION!

The episode starts with Eric standing in a workroom. He plays with some little frogs over a large table.

He says OH, HEY!
DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU
CAN TURN AN ORDINARY
SHEET OF PAPER LIKE
THIS INTO A CRAZY
HOPPING FROG
LIKE THIS?

He shows a green paper sheet and the finished little frog.

He says AND YOU DON'T NEED TO
BE A MAGICIAN TO DO IT.
ANYONE CAN USE ORIGAMI
TO TURN A FLAT
SQUARE SHEET OF PAPER
INTO AN AMAZING
THREE-DIMENSIONAL
CREATION!
IT'S ALL ABOUT
FOLDING.
NICE!

(music plays)

Eric is ready to start.

He says ORIGAMI MEANS FOLD
PAPER IN JAPANESE.
WITH ORIGAMI, YOU DON'T USE
SCISSORS OR TAPE OR GLUE.
YOU ONLY FOLD PAPER
IN SPECIFIC WAYS,
AND NEW SHAPES
APPEAR LIKE MAGIC.
START BY FOLDING A SQUARE
SHEET OF PAPER IN HALF.
YOU CAN USE ORIGAMI
PAPER OR REGULAR PAPER,
JUST LIKE THIS.

He shows a series of colourful paper sheets.

He says SO, YOU FOLD
IT IN HALF...
JUST LIKE THAT.
NOW, OPEN IT UP,
AND USING THE LINE
OF SYMMETRY, FOLD EACH
OF THE FOUR CORNERS
INTO THE CENTRE TO
MAKE A SQUARE SHAPE
ONCE AGAIN.

(music plays)

He continues to fold the paper sheet in different directions. Animated lines on screen follow the traces done by Eric.

He says IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT
TO PRESS DOWN
ON CORNERS
AND CREASES.
SHARP CORNERS AND EDGES
HELP YOUR FROG JUMP HIGHER.
NOW, MAKE A DIAMOND OR
KITE SHAPE BY FOLDING
TWO OF THE EDGES INTO
THE CENTRE LINE.
LIKE THIS.

(music plays)

He folds the sides to the center making sure it all fits perfectly.

He says NEXT...
FOLD UP THE SHORT
END OF THE KITE.
THE NEW FLAP SHOULD
HAVE A TRIANGLE SHAPE.
NOW, YOU WANT TO FOLD
THE TWO BOTTOM CORNERS
OF THIS TRIANGLE...
THESE ENDS
RIGHT HERE.

He folds both points on the base of the triangle to the center.

He says YOU WANT TO FOLD THEM INTO
THE CENTRE, LIKE THIS.
SO, THIS CORNER GOES HERE,
AND THIS CORNER GOES HERE,
JUST LIKE THIS.

(music plays)

The folded paper looks pretty small now.

He continues
THE NEW BOTTOM EDGE SHOULD
MAKE A STRAIGHT LINE.
NOW, FOLD THE
BOTTOM EDGE UP,
THEN FOLD IT BACK IN
HALF, SO IT LOOKS
LIKE A Z.
COOL, HUH?
THOSE WILL BE THE
FROG'S BACK LEGS,
LIKE THAT.
AS WE KEEP
FOLDING THE PAPER,
IT TURNS INTO A
THREE-DIMENSIONAL SHAPE
AND STARTS
COMING TO LIFE.
FOLD THE POINTY PART AT
THE TOP TO MAKE THE HEAD,
LIKE THIS.
NOW, DRAW TWO EYES.
AND YOU'RE ALMOST
READY TO HOP.

He makes two small marks to be used as the eyes.

Next, he says ALL RIGHT, THE
MOMENT OF TRUTH.
LET'S SEE HOW WELL
MY FROG CAN HOP.

He touches the frog in the base and it jumps.

He says COOL!
BACK FLIP!
IT'S QUITE
THE LEAPER.
I LOVE IT!
THERE YOU GO, YOUR
VERY OWN ORIGAMI
HOPPING FROG.

(music plays)

Eric draws a circle and colours it inside. He taps on it and a new clip plays. The video shows a series of origami creations.

Eric says FOLDING CREATES COOL ORIGAMI
SHAPES AND SCULPTURES,
BUT IT'S ALSO GREAT FOR
MAKING EVERYDAY OBJECTS
MORE COMPACT AND
EASIER TO STORE.
LIKE MAPS AND TENTS.

(music plays)

Eric appears back in the workroom playing with the origami frog.

He says ONCE YOU KNOW BASIC FOLDS,
YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS
CAN MAKE ORIGAMI FROGS
AND HAVE LEAPFROG
HOPPING RACES!
ORIGAMI PAPER FOLDING:
IT'S NOT MAGIC.
IT'S MATH.
GOOD JOB, GUYS.

A big explosion brings the show’s logo back on the screen.

(music plays)

The end credits roll.
