An animated clip shows a big orange X on a blue background. It explodes and letters and numbers come out of it in all directions and float around.

Mathemagician Eric appears on screen. He’s in his mid-twenties. He has short dark brown hair and a beard. He wears a red T-shirt with the show’s logo, blue jeans and red Tennis shoes.

The screen turns red and the logo of the show appears next. It reads "MathXplosion." Meanwhile, cones, cubes and dices float around it.

Kids voices sing a song with lyrics that go
WHAT A HIT
IT'S NOT A TRICK
IT'S MATHXPLOSION
JUST FOR YOU
COOL AND NEW
MATHXPLOSION!

The episode starts with Eric entering the workroom holding a drawer.

Eric says DID YOU KNOW THAT
I CAN FIND TWO SOCKS
OF THE SAME COLOUR IN
THIS MESSY SOCK DRAWER
WITH MY EYES CLOSED?

He opens the drawer and shows the numerous socks in different colours.

He says YUP, THAT'S RIGHT.
AND AS AMAZING AS
THAT SOUNDS ALREADY
I NEED TO PICK JUST
FOUR SOCKS TO DO IT.
I'LL SHOW YOU
HOW IT'S DONE.
YOU WON'T BELIEVE
YOUR EYES.

(music plays)

He closes the drawer and opens it back again. When doing so, the socks magically disappear.

He says NEED SOME
SOCKS, PLEASE.
GET SOME SOCKS!

(music plays)

Eric is now ready to start.

He says I HAVE BEFORE ME A
DRAWER FULL OF SOCKS.
THESE SOCKS COME IN
THREE DIFFERENT COLOURS.
WE HAVE BLUE,
GREEN AND PINK.
THE TOTAL NUMBER OF SOCKS
IN THE DRAWER DOESN'T MATTER
AT ALL, AS LONG AS I KNOW
HOW MANY COLOURS THERE ARE.
IN THIS CASE...
THREE COLOURS.
SO WHAT I'M GOING TO DO
IS PULL JUST FOUR SOCKS
FROM THE DRAWER...
IN THE DARK.
AND I CAN GUARANTEE
THAT AT LEAST TWO
WILL BE OF THE
SAME COLOUR.
LET'S TURN OFF
THESE LIGHTS.

The lights go out as he claps and the room gets dark.

He says GR-- OH, BOY,
THAT'S DARK.

He steps on a cat that hiss.

Eric says OH, SORRY, KITTY!
YOU KNOW, THIS
IS WAY TOO DARK.
THIS ISN'T WORKING.
LET'S TURN THE
LIGHTS BACK ON.
LIGHTS!

He claps a few times before the lights get back on.

Next, he says OH!
WELL, THAT DIDN'T
WORK AT ALL.
I KNOW, I'LL DO
THIS BLINDFOLDED.
OKAY...

(music plays)

He blindfolds himself and continues with the project. He picks socks from the drawer.

He says ONE... TWO...
THREE...
ANY MATCHING
COLOURS YET?

The screen shakes as if to say No.

He says NO?
OKAY, WELL, KEEP YOUR EYE
ON SOCK NUMBER... FOUR.
YES!

He takes the blindfold off and says THE FIRST THREE SOCKS
WERE DIFFERENT COLOURS,
SO THE FOURTH ONE
HAS TO MATCH.
IF YOU START WITH
THREE SOCK COLOURS,
PICKING FOUR SOCKS
GUARANTEES AT LEAST
TWO SOCKS OF
THE SAME COLOUR.
AMAZING!

(music plays)

Eric draws a circle and colours it inside. He taps on it and a new clip plays. The video shows socks coming out of a drawer in blue, green and pink. Next, gloves in the same colour come out of the same drawer, only this time, two of them match.

Eric says THE LIKELIHOOD OF SOMETHING
HAPPENING, LIKE CHOOSING
A SPECIFIC SOCK COLOUR
IS CALLED PROBABILITY.
YOU CAN USE THE SAME
TRICK ON MITTENS, TOO.
TO GUARANTEE THAT YOU
FIND TWO MITTENS OF
THE SAME COLOUR IN THE
DARK, THE NUMBER OF
MITTENS TO PICK UP IS THE
NUMBER OF MITTEN COLOURS
PLUS ONE.
THREE COLOURS,
FOUR MITTENS.

Eric appears back in the workroom.

He says SO, THERE YOU HAVE IT.
I'VE SHARED YET
ANOTHER AMAZING SECRET...
HOW TO MATCH UP
SOCKS IN THE DARK.
TRY IT OUT
YOURSELVES AT HOME.
BUT, REMEMBER,
USE CLEAN SOCKS.

He sniffs a sock and frowns.

Next, he says NOT SMELLY ONES.
PROBABILITY, IT'S NOT
MAGIC, IT'S MATH.

A big explosion brings the show’s logo back on the screen.

(music plays)

The end credits roll.
