[Music playing]

Children play in a park. Sam and Lili are on a field. Sam has short black hair and wears blue jeans and a yellow shirt with green trim. Lili has long black hair. She wears purple glasses, a red shirt and yellow pants.

Sam calls, SOCCER TIME!

Lili says, GEE, SAM, COULD YOU SAY THAT AGAIN? I DON'T THINK THEY HEARD YOU UP AT THE SPACE STATION.

Sam says, OKAY.

Sam yells, SOCCER TI—

Lili says, WHOA! I WAS KIDDING.

Eddie says, SAM, YOU AND LILI ARE CAPTAINS. LUC, YOU PICK TEAMS. SHOES IN, EVERYBODY.

Children throw their shoes in a pile with Lola, Sarah and Luc. Eddie pulls down Luc’s hat.

Luc says, HEY!

Eddie says, THAT'S SO YOU CAN'T TELL THE SHOES APART. NOW GO.

Luc says, SAM'S TEAM. LILI'S TEAM. SAM'S TEAM. LILI'S TEAM. SAM'S TEAM. LILI'S TEAM.

[Luc laughing]

Luc says, TA-DA, EVEN TEAMS.

Lili says, HEY. HOW COME ALL THE BIG KIDS ARE ON YOUR SIDE, AND ALL THE SMALL KIDS ON OUR SIDE?

Luc says, JUST THE WAY IT GOES. THE TEAMS WERE PICKED FAIR AND SQUARE.

Amala says, OH, ARE WE PLAYING SOCCER?

Eddie says, SORRY, AMALA, THE TEAMS ARE PICKED ALREADY. THREE A SIDE.

Amala says, THEN I'LL BE REFEREE.

Sam asks, YOU PROMISE YOU'LL BE FAIR?

Amala says, OF COURSE. I EVEN CARRY MY OWN WHISTLE.

[Whistle blowing]

Eddie says, THEN GAME ON.

The children say, ALL RIGHT!

[Kids cheering]

Amala flips a coin.

[Soft electronic music]

Sam calls, HEADS.

The coin spins in the air and lands on tails.

Amala says, LILI GETS THE KICKOFF.

[Whistle blowing]

Lili kicks the ball. Eddie runs with it, pushing past her.

Lili yells, HEY!

Sam says, FREIGHT-TRAIN EDDIE, ON THE MOVE.

[Eddie grunting]

Eddie kicks the ball into the net.

Sam and Eddie yell, GOAL!

Amala says, SAM'S TEAM AHEAD, ONE TO NOTHING. BUT EXCELLENT TEAM SPIRIT, LILI'S TEAM. GOOD JOB, GUYS.

[Whistle blowing]

Lili goes to kick the ball but swings her leg too high and falls.

Lili cries, HAY-AH! WHOA-OA! I'M OKAY.

[Eddie and Sam sighing]

Eddie runs to the ball. He kicks it to Sam who shoots it past Lola and into the net.

[Sam laughing]

[Whistle blowing]

Amala says, TWO-NOTHING, SAM'S TEAM.

Eddie and Sarah pass the ball back and forth. Sam bounces it off his back and into the net.

[Sam and Eddie laughing]

[Whistle blowing]

Amala calls, THREE-NOTHING, SAM'S TEAM. TIME OUT. YOU GUYS, YOU KNOW YOU'RE ALLOWED TO SCORE GOALS, TOO, RIGHT?

Lili says, OF COURSE.

Lola kicks the ball in a circle and kicks it into her own net.

[Lola grunting]

[Quirky electronic music]

Amala says, THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT. YOU NEED TO SCORE ON THE OTHER TEAM, TO EVEN THINGS OUT.

[Amala sighing]

Amala says, FOUR-NOTHING, SAM'S TEAM.

Luc kicks the ball toward Lili.

[Luc grunting]

Lili says, ME, ME, ME, ME!

Eddie runs in and gets the ball. He passes to Sarah who headbutts it into the net.

[Whistle blowing]

Amala says, FIVE-NOTHING, SAM'S TEAM.

[Sam grunting]

Sam scores.

Sam cries, HA!

Amala says, SIX-NOTHING, SAM'S TEAM.

[Laughing]

[Luc panting]

Luc says, OH!

Luc kicks the ball into an empty net. Amala walks over.

[Luc sighing]

Luc says, WE KNOW, WE KNOW, SEVEN-NOTH—

Amala says, THAT'S NOT WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY. THIS GAME ISN'T WORKING RIGHT. THE TEAMS AREN'T EVEN.

Eddie asks, WHAT DO YOU MEAN? WE PICKED THEM FAIR AND SQUARE.

Amala says, WHICH MEANS, IT'S TIME FOR SOME NEW RULES.

Eddie says, BUT SOCCER HAS RULES ALREADY. AND I KNOW MOST OF THEM. OUT OF PLAY RULE, OFFSIDE RULE, CORNER KICK RULE.

[Amala clearing throat]

Amala says, NOW YOU CAN ADD THE AMALA RULE.

Eddie asks, WHAT'S THAT?

Amala says, YOU'LL SEE.

[Whistle blowing]

Children hop on one foot.

[Panting]

Amala says, YOU HAVE TO HOP, EDDIE, IT'S THE NEW RULE.

Luc says, COME ON, IT'S FUN.

Amala says, AND FAIR.

Sam says, EH.

Sam and Sarah hop on one foot.

[Sam and Sarah grunting]

[Eddie sighing]

Sarah hops and falls as she tries to kick the ball. Lili hops and kicks the ball into Eddie’s net.

[Lili grunting]

[Lili panting]

[Whistle blowing]

Amala says, THAT'S BETTER. SEVEN-ONE.

[Lili laughing]

Lili says, ALL THAT JUMP-ROPE FINALLY PAID OFF.

Eddie says, BUT THIS ISN'T EVEN HOW YOU PLAY SOCCER.

[Whistle blowing]

Amala says, NEW RULE. NO COMPLAINING ABOUT THE NEW RULES.

Eddie says, BUT—

[Whistle blowing]

Amala says, OKAY, NEXT RULE, EVERYONE NEEDS TO... RUN BACKWARDS.

Eddie says, BACKWARDS? THAT-- THAT'S NOT SOCCER EITHER.

Amala sets down the ball. Eddie runs backwards, kicking it.

[Eddie laughing]

Eddie says, HEY, THIS ISN'T SO-- AH!

Eddie falls.

Eddie says, THIS IS CRAZY. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SET UP A PLAY BACKWARDS?

Amala says, MAYBE LIKE THAT?

[Lola panting]

Lola runs backwards, kicking the ball into the net.

The team cries, GOAL!

Amala says, SEVEN-TWO. THIS IS FUN. OKAY, THE NEXT NEW RULE IS... BLINDFOLDS.

[Whistle blowing]

Children stumble around with long socks over their eyes.

[Kids laughing, grunting and panting]

Lili kicks the ball.

[Lili grunting]

Amala cries, GOAL! SEVEN-THREE.

[Upbeat music]

Luc’s hat covered his eyes. He gets a goal.

Amala says, SEVEN-FOUR.

Lola kicks the ball.

Amala says, SEVEN-FIVE.

Lili kicks.

[Lili grunting]

Amala calls, SEVEN-SIX.

Eddie says, WAIT!

Amala asks, YES, EDWARD?

Eddie says, FIRST, SOCKS ARE FOR YOUR FEET.

Lili and Sam say, HUH?

Eddie says, AND SECOND, THIS IS NO WAY TO PLAY SOCCER. WE WERE WINNING FAIR AND SQUARE UNDER THE NORMAL RULES, AND NOW IT'S ALMOST TIED.

Amala says, FINE. WE'LL GO BACK TO THE NORMAL WAY OF PLAYING.

Eddie says, THANK YOU.

Amala says, I'LL JUST CHANGE THE RULE ABOUT COUNTING SCORE.

Eddie asks, HUH?

Amala says, NOW, BECAUSE LUC IS LITTLEST, EVERY GOAL HE SCORES IS WORTH FIVE INSTEAD OF ONE. GAME ON!

[Whistle blowing]

Luc runs with the ball.

[Lola, Luc and Lili panting]

Eddie says, THAT MAKES NO SENSE. THERE ARE NO GAMES ON THE PLANET WHERE ONE PLAYER'S GOALS ARE WORTH MORE THAN ANY OTHER'S. SO I THINK—

Luc pushes past Eddie.

[Luc laughing]

Luc cries, GOAL!

Lola says, YEAH!

Lili cries, WOO-HOO!

Amala says, 11 TO SEVEN FOR LUC'S TEAM.

Eddie says, THAT'S IT. THIS GAME IS TOTALLY UNFAIR.

Amala says, NO WAY. IT WAS UNFAIR BEFORE, BUT NOW IT'S WAY MORE EVEN. SO HOW COULD THAT NOT BE FAIR?

[Eddie sighing]

Eddie says, WHATEVER. I'M DONE. FIVE POINTS FOR A GOAL, RUNNING BACKWARDS? HOW IS THAT FUN? PLAYING HARD IS FUN, LIKE THIS.

Eddie is on a swing.

Eddie says, I BET I CAN SWING ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BAR, TWICE.

Eddie stops swinging.

[Eddie sighing]

Eddie says, ACTUALLY, THIS ISN'T AS FUN AS I REMEMBER.

Other children are playing on the soccer field.

[Chattering]

Lili says WHAT'S NEXT?

Amala says, I KNOW. THE ONLY WAY TO SCORE A GOAL IS TO SIT ON THE BALL AND ROLL IT IN WITH YOUR BUTT.

[Laughing]

Eddie says, BUT IT'S SO NOT SOCCER.

Sam and Lili both try to sit on the ball. They fall off laughing.

[Sam and Lili giggling]

Eddie says, YOU GUYS, YOU ONLY NEED TO SIT ON IT TO SCORE. SAM, PUNT THE BALL.

Sam says, AH!

Sam kicks the ball out from under Lili.

Lili says, WHOA!

[All laughing]

Amala says, OKAY. NOT MY BEST RULE.

Lili says, BUT ONE OF THE FUNNIEST. SO, WHAT'S THE NEXT RULE?

[Amala sighing]

Amala says, I DON'T KNOW ACTUALLY. UM, BUT MAYBE EDDIE HAS ONE?

Eddie asks, HUH? ME?

Lili says, YEAH, EDDIE, WHAT YA GOT?

Eddie says, YOU KNOW, I JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE A GREAT NEW RULE.

Luc asks, IS IT GOING TO BE FAIR?

Eddie says, DEPENDS ON HOW GOOD YOU ARE AT—

Luc cries, PIGGY-BACK SOCCER!

Each younger child is on a big kid’s back.

[Yelling excitedly]

Luc says, HEY, EDDIE, WHAT'S THE SCORE ANYWAY?

Eddie says, NO IDEA. I GUESS EVERYBODY'S WINNING.

[Cheering]
