On a white surface, a hand brings out a small plant. Text reads, a plant for hanging. A container of dry moss is added. Text reads, dry sphagnum (moss). Twine is added. Text reads, twine. On the decorated surface, hands bring out the large bowl. Text reads, soak dry moss in water. The dry moss is brought out. Handfuls of the dry moss are put in the bowl. The hands gently separate the moss. The water is poured over the moss. The hands work to fully soak the dry moss with the water. Text reads, make a crater. The hands make a crater in the soaked moss. The small plant is brought out and gently removed from its plastic pot. The plant is then placed in the soaked moss crater. The hands wrap the plants soil with the soaked moss. The hands squeeze the soaked moss and plant which releases excess water.

Text reads, shape the moss into a ball. Hands wrap around the moss and form it into a ball. Text reads, squeeze out the excess water. The hands squeeze the ball of moss and place it back in the bowl with the extra soaked moss.

The scissors are brought out. Text reads, tightly wrap with twine. Twine is cut. The moss ball and plant is held by one hand while the other wraps the twine around the ball. The twine is tied off and the plant moss ball is taken out of the bowl. Text reads, and again…. More twine is cut and wrapped around the moss ball plant. Text reads, …and again. More twine is added. Text reads, tie in a large loop. Ends of the twine are tied to the plant to create a large loop of twine. The hands display the loop of twine tied to the plant. The hands give thumbs up. Text reads, now give it a drink.

The kokedama is lowered into a bowl of water by its twine. It is briefly submerged about half way before it’s lifted out of the water. The kokedama is displayed hanging.
