[Upbeat music plays]

An animation shows traffic travelling through a city. People are gathered outside houses and a pizza parlour. A pink school bus scatters stars as it passes by a grassy hill.

Text reads, “TVO kids and ABC presents”.

Children and their pets run to the hill and climb onto the title which they read, BIG WORDS, SMALL STORIES.

Poppy reads the episode title, Tall Tales.

Poppy and her pet dog Chaz sit on a beach and eat segments of watermelon.

Poppy’s dad says, AND WE ATE COTTON CANDY
AND DANCED WITH GIANT DRAGONS -
IT WAS MORE MAGICAL
THAN MAGIC ITSELF!

Chaz looks at Poppy and says, BUT DRAGONS AREN'T REAL.
THEY MUST BE! DAD DANCED
WITH THEM. RIGHT, DAD?

Poppy’s dad says, OH, I SURE DID. (CHUCKLES) BUT
IT DID STEP ON MY TOES A LOT!

Poppy’s dad carries the watermelon rinds towards a bin.

Poppy says, MY DAD TELLS THE BEST STORIES!

(Snoring)

(Gasp)

Chaz is asleep on a yellow and white striped towel. Poppy gets up off a red sun lounger and picks up a purple pail. She carries her pail to the edge of the water, then kneels beside the ocean and scoops sand into the pail.

(Gasp)

Poppy is wide eyed. She notices bubbles appear and pop on the water. A large silhouette rises out of the water. Poppy looks frightened as she drops her pail and runs back to the loungers, where her dad is relaxing.

Poppy shouts, CHAZ! I SAW A SEA CREATURE!
IN THE WATER! IT WAS HAIRY! AND SCARY!

Chaz wakens.

(Loud yawn)

Chaz says, IT WAS PROBABLY A SMALL FISH.

Poppy says, NO! IT HAD FANGS
AND LOTS OF HAIR!

Chaz says, POPPY, DON'T YOU THINK YOU'RE...
EXAGGERATING?

Sprinkle Fairy arrives and says, EXAGGERATE MEANS TO MAKE
SOMETHING SOUND BIGGER OR WORSE THAN IT REALLY IS.
YOU KNOW, THE WAY POPPY IS MAKING WHAT SHE SAW SOUND SCARY!

Chaz says, YOU DO TEND TO EXAGGERATE.

Chaz Whispers to Sprinkle Fairy, LIKE HER DAD.

Poppy’s dad says, WHAT'S THIS
ABOUT ME EXAGGERATING?

Sprinkle Fairy says, UH-OH! FAMILY DRAMA!
THAT'S MY CUE TO MAKE TRACKS.
TOODLES!

Chaz says, WELL, YOUR STORY ABOUT DANCING
DRAGONS IS A BIT EXAGGERATED.

Poppy’s dad replies, BUT MY STORY IS TRUE!

Poppy says, I BELIEVE YOU, DAD!

Poppy’s dad points at Poppy and says, AND I BELIEVE
YOU SAW SOMETHING IN THE WATER.

Chaz says, AND I DON'T BELIEVE ANY OF IT.
I HOPE IT

Sprinkle Fairy’s helpers, the sprinkles, small candy-like creatures, push a tiny carboard box boat towards the ocean. The sides of the boat collapse when it hits a rock.

Poppy says, I HOPE IT POPS OUT OF THE WATER AGAIN.

A man wearing blue swimwear, with horizontal stripes, says, HOPE WHAT POPS OUT OF THE WATER?

(Small gasp)

Poppy says, I SAW A SEA CREATURE!
IT WAS HAIRY AND HAD FANGS!
AND THE NOISE IT MADE!
I SHIVER JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.

The man takes out a camera and says, OH, THIS WOULD BE A GOOD STORY
FOR THE COLOSSUS CHRONICLE.
MAYBE EVEN FRONT PAGE.

Chaz asks, WHAT'S THIS ABOUT THE NOISE
THE SEA CREATURE MADE?
MORE EXAGGERATING?

Poppy replies, NO! IT HAPPENED!

Poppy’s dad asks, YOU WRITE ARTICLES TOO?
I THOUGHT YOU RAN THE CAFÉ?
AND WHAT A GREAT PLACE
FOR JUICY STORIES!

A woman dressed in a pink hat asks, WHAT'S THIS ABOUT A JUICY STORY?
IS IT ABOUT ME?!

Poppy replies, I SAW A SEA CREATURE!
IN THE DEEP, DARK WATER.
IT HAD WILD HAIR,
AND FANGS LONGER THAN MY ARM!

The woman grabs a sun lounger and says,
THIS IS JUST THE CREATURE I NEED
TO SEE. I'M PLAYING ONE IN MY NEXT PLAY,
'THE LAKE CREATURE'.

Chaz shakes his head and says, REALLY, POPPY.
STOP EXAGGERATING.

Poppy says, BUT I'M NOT EXAGGERATING!

The sprinklers set sail in their tiny boat. Water sprays as the boat springs a leak, thrusting a yellow sprinkle out of the boat.

Poppy says, THE SEA CREATURE WAVED
ITS HAIRY ARMS AT ME! LIKE THIS!

Cris and Crat arrive.

Poppy says, OH! AND THEY WERE COVERED IN
SEASHELLS AND SEAWEED!

The woman says, I LOVE THE DETAILS!

Crat says, JUST LIKE MY BOOK!
IT'S ABOUT STRANGE
- AND MAYBE REAL -
CREATURES FROM AROUND THE WORLD.

Poppy says, THE MORE, THE MERRIER!

Chaz says, YOUR EXAGGERATING
IS GETTING OUT OF HAND!
NOW EVERYONE BELIEVES YOU!

Queen, a brown-haired woman wearing a crown, draws the sea creature.

She says, I THINK I'VE GOT IT.
MORE SEAWEED! AND THREE EYES!

Queen says, THREE EYES?, OH I SAY!

(Sighs)

Chaz says, REALLY? THREE EYES?
NOW THAT'S EXAGGERATED.
A CREATURE LIKE THAT
CAN'T POSSIBLY EXIST!

Poppy says, IT DOES! AND YOU'LL SEE.
YOU'LL ALL SEE!

(Chipmunk talk)

Two chipmunks stand at the water’s edge. They turn around and walk past Poppy, Chaz, Cris, Crat, and the woman with the pink hat.

The man says, HUH, THE CHIPMUNKS ARE RIGHT.
THE SEA CREATURE DOESN'T EXIST!

Poppy says, NO! STAY! YOU'LL MISS HIM!
HE DOES EXIST! I SWEAR!

Poppy’s dad looks at the ocean through binoculars.

(Gasp)

Poppy’s dad says, I SEE SOMETHING!

The woman in the pink hat asks, WHERE?

Queen asks, WHAT?

The man asks, HOW?

An inflatable bear pops out of the water.

(Everyone gasps)

Poppy says, SEE? IT DOES EXIST!

Chaz says, WELL, IT'S HARDLY A CREATURE
WITH FANGS AND THREE EYES.
IT'S JUST AN INFLATABLE TOY.
YOU HAVE TO ADMIT
IT WAS A HUGE EXAGGERATION
BUT YOU HAVE A GREAT
IMAGINATION.

(Kindly)

Poppy’s dad says, AW, POPPY, I THINK
IT WAS A SCARY INFLATABLE TOY.

Poppy says, THANKS, DAD.

Poppy, her dad and Chaz, leave the beach. The sprinklers boat bobs up and down in the surf of the ocean.

(Happy squeaks)

Suddenly, a hairy brown sea creature emerges from under the water.

(Nervous gasp)

The sprinklers quickly row towards the beach. They jump out of their tiny boat and run. The sea creature, with three eyes and large fangs, glances around.

(Confused grunt, happy grunt)

The sea creature leaps onto the inflatable bear and relaxes with its hands behind its head.
