(Happy music plays)

An animation shows traffic travelling through a city. People are gathered outside houses and a pizza parlour. A pink school bus scatters stars as it passes by a grassy hill.

Text reads, “TVO kids and ABC presents”.

Children and their pets run to the hill and climb onto the title which they read, BIG WORDS, SMALL STORIES.

A person reads the episode title.

They read, FRIENDSHIP DAY.

Text reads, written by Tim Bain. Poppy shares a paper chain craft with her wombat Chaz

Poppy says, IT'S FINALLY HERE!
MY FAVOURITE DAY OF THE YEAR!

Poppy shouts from a window.

She shouts, HAPPY COLOSSUS FRIENDSHIP DAY!

Poppy’s yelling echo’s through her neighbourhood. A squirrel blows a raspberry. Poppy shrugs.

She says, HUH! FIRST THING'S FIRST...

Poppy writes in a notebook.

(Doorbell)

Poppy gasps. Chaz answers the door. Wrapped gifts fall inside and knock over Chaz. Poppy gasps and runs to the pile of gifts.

Poppy says, FRIENDSHIP DAY GIFTS
FROM MY FRIENDS?!

She grabs a note from the pile of gifts.

Poppy reads, DEAR POPPY,
YOU ARE THE FRIENDLIEST FRIEND
A FRIEND COULD BEFRIEND. AW!

Chaz lets out a big sigh. A person with red hair stops by Poppy.

She says, I THINK THERE'S SOMETHING UP
WITH CHAZ.

Poppy says, CHAZ..? WHAT?!

The woman says, HE LOOKS A LITTLE DOWN.

Chaz eats cereal.

Poppy says, HE IS DOWN!
OH NO - WHAT'S WRONG?

Poppy gasps.

She says, OF COURSE!
I JUST RECEIVED A MOUNTAIN
OF FRIENDSHIP DAY GIFTS,
AND HE GOT NOTHING! I'LL FIX
THIS! I'LL CHEER HIM UP.

The woman says, GOOD, POPPY.
YOU'RE VERY CARING.
I CAN'T HELP IT.
I'M VERY... VERY...

Sprinkle Fairy’s helpers, the sprinkles, briefly pop up behind Poppy.

Poppy says, COMPASSIONATE!

The Sprinklers cheer, COMPASSIONATE!

A pink bus drives past and Sprinkler Fairy appears.

She says, COMPASSIONATE MEANS SHOWING CARE
AND KINDNESS TOWARDS OTHERS.
JUST LIKE POPPY IS SHOWING
FOR LONELY LITTLE CHAZ.
AH! THE POOR WOMBAT.

Chaz blows his nose with a tissue.

Sprinkle fairy says, OH, THE HEART BREAKS!

The red haired woman offers Sprinkle Fairy some pizza.

The woman says, HERE YOU GO.

The Sprinkle Fairy says, OOH, PIZZA!
I'M OFF FOR LUNCH
WITH MY BESTIE,
FELICITY THE FUSSY FAIRY.
TOODLES!

The Sprinkle Fairy flies out the door.

Poppy says, OPERATION CHEER UP CHAZ!

Poppy runs out the door. A yellow Sprinkler opens a present, only for it to be revealed as another present. The sprinklers shoulders droop. A person rings a doorbell. Chaz answers the door while starring at the ground. Chaz picks up a drawing of himself. Poppy gasps.

Poppy says, WHAT'S THIS?!
A FRIENDSHIP DAY CARD FOR CHAZ?
READ IT!

Chaz reads the card.

He reads, "HI CHAZ.
"HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY.
"YOUR FRIEND,
BUDDY BUD. E. BUD."

Chaz groans.

Poppy says, HE’S STILL SAD?
I'LL SHOW HIM MORE COMPASSION
BY GIVING HIM
SOMETHING HE'LL LOVE.

A persons rings the doorbell. Chaz answers the door. At his feet is a gift. Chaz looks curious and picks up the gift.

Poppy says, WOW! A PRESENT FOR CHAZ?!

Poppy reads a note.

She reads, "FROM SOMEONE WHO
CARES... MELISSA MATEY-MATE."

Chaz opens the gift and pulls out a book.

Poppy says, A BOOK OF ALL BOOKS?
BEST PRESENT EVER!

Chaz says, I GUESS SO.

Chaz’s shoulders drop.

Poppy says, THIS IS HARD!
HOW CAN I SHOW MORE COMPASSION?
OOH! IDEA!
ERM... EXCUSE ME, CHAZ,
I FORGOT I HAVE TO GO TO THE...
HAIR-DENTIST!
I MEAN, I'M SUPER LATE! SEE YA!

Poppy runs off. By the pile of presents, the sprinkler unwraps another layer of the present. The sprinkler frowns. A person rings the doorbell. Chaz answers the door to Poppy, who wears a large grey wig.

She says, HELLO, CHAZ!
I AM LADY, ERM...
LIGHTSWITCH... -INGTON.
AND I AM YOUR FRIEND.
LET'S GO ON A PLAYDATE!
THE GREATEST ONE EVER!

The red haired woman says, A PLAYDATE?
HOW VERY COMPASSIONATE,
LADY LIGHTSWITCHINGTON.

Poppy, as Lady Lightswitchington, grabs Chaz’s hang.

Lady Lightswitchington says, COME ON, CHAZ!

Lady Lightswitchington pushes Chaz on a swing in a park. Chaz is pushed higher and higher until he’s thrown off the swing. Lady Lightswitchington gasps. At chess game tables, she pours tea into a cup. She tries to pour into Chaz’s, but the teapots empty. She laughs nervously.

Lady Lightswitchington says, ONE PIE FOR MY
GOOD FRIEND PLEASE, AL.

Lady Lightswichington, Chaz and the red haired woman stand at Al’s food truck.

Lady Lightswichington says, AND MAKE IT AS BIG AS OUR
FRIENDSHIP. HOPE YOU'RE HUNGRY!

Chaz says, NOT REALLY.

As poppy, she speaks to the red haired woman.

She says, I'VE GIVEN CHAZ EVERYTHING
TO MAKE HIM FEEL BETTER!
IF I'M ANY MORE COMPASSIONATE,
I'LL EXPLODE!

The woman says, PERHAPS IT WOULD BE
COMPASSIONATE
TO ASK HIM WHY HE'S STILL
FEELING SO UNHAPPY.

Poppy pulls off her grey wig.

She says, SURPRISE! IT'S ME!

Chaz says, YEAH, NO KIDDING.

Poppy asks, WHY ARE YOU SAD?

Chaz says, WELL...
IT'S NICE TO BE SPOILED WITH
CARDS AND GIFTS AND PLAYDATES
FROM FRIENDS I NEVER KNEW I HAD
BUT I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A MESSAGE
FROM MY BEST FRIEND.

Poppy says, OH, YOU MEAN ME!
OH CHAZ, I'M SO SORRY.
I WAS SO BUSY
WITH MY OWN MESSAGES
AND THEN TRYING TO CHEER YOU UP
WITH FAKE FRIENDS,
I FORGOT ALL ABOUT WHAT
I WAS GOING TO DO FIRST THING!

The red haired woman says, AW!

At home, Chaz sits on Poppy’s bed.

Poppy says, TA-DAH! LOOK!

Chaz gasps. Poppy reveals a paper chain of her and Chaz.

Chaz says, OH, POPPY!
THIS IS THE SWEETEST,
MOST COMPASSIONATE FRIENDSHIP
DAY GIFT I'VE EVER RECEIVED!
