An animation shows traffic travelling through a city. People are gathered outside houses and a pizza parlour. A pink school bus scatters stars as it passes by a grassy hill.

Text reads, “TVO kids and ABC presents”.

Children and their pets run to the hill and climb onto the title which they read, BIG WORDS, SMALL STORIES.

A person reads the episode title.

They read, A SNACKY SURPRISE.

Text reads, written by Melanie Sano. In a store, Poppy and her pet, Chaz, perform a handshake. They giggle. Poppy’s dad clears his throat. He taps his foot impatiently while carrying a grocery basket.

Poppy explains, CHAZ IS HELPING ME WITH
MY FRIENDSHIP SHAKE.

Chaz says, FOR WHEN OLEANDER VISITS
THIS AFTERNOON.

Poppy’s dad says, WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE
GETTING SNACKS.

He gestures to the grocery basket.

Poppy says, OH YEAH!
WE NEED TO GET SOMETHING
SUPER DUPER YUMMY.

Chaz asks, HOW ABOUT ORANGES?

Poppy says, I DON'T KNOW.

She picks up an orange from an orange pyramid.

She says, THEY’RE ALL TOO,
ORANGE. WHY CAN'T THEY
EVER BE BLUE?
OR PINK?

Poppy puts the orange back on the pyramid. The tower wobbles. Chaz gasps. Poppy turns away.

She says, HEY!

Oranges fall off the pyramid and bounce of Chaz’s head.

Poppy looks at a purple fruit.

She asks, WHAT'S THIS FRUIT?
I'VE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE.

Poppy picks up one of the purple fruits.

Poppy’s dad says, THOSE ARE
MANGOSTEENS.

Poppy says, WE HAVE TO GET SOME.

Poppy leaves the store with a bag of mangosteens. She puts the bag down.

She says, HELLO!
MIND IF I HAVE A BITE?

Poppy brings a mangosteen to her mouth.

Chaz says, WAIT! YOU HAVE TO
CRACK IT OPEN.

Poppy taps on the fruit. She grunts as she struggles to crack it open. The mangosteen flies out of Poppy’s hands and she gasps. A bird dodges the flying fruit. Poppy and Chaz put their arms out as they try and reach for the falling fruit. Poppy’s dad catches the mangosteen. Poppy and Chaz stumble and fall.

They say, WHOA!

They land with a grunt.

Poppy’s dad says, NO SNACKS
UNTIL THE PLAY DATE.

Poppy’s dad chuckles.

He says, LAST TIME YOU GOBBLED EVERYTHING
UP BEFORE OLEANDER ARRIVED.

Poppy says, BUT I REALLY
WANT TO KNOW WHAT
MANGOSTEENS TASTE LIKE.

Poppy and Chaz stand.

Chaz says, I'VE HAD
LOTS OF MANGOSTEENS.
THEY'RE FRUITY.
BUT NOT TOO FRUITY.
HMM... THIS IS HARD.

Two candy-like creatures, Sprinkle Fairy’s helpers, Sprinklers, pop up from behind Poppy’s grocery bag.

Chaz says, THEY HAVE SUCH A WEIRD FLAVOUR.

The Sprinklers pop back into the grocery bag.

Chaz says, THEY'RE... THEY'RE...

Chaz looks thoughtful.

He says, INDESCRIBABLE!

(Celebratory music plays)

Sprinklers pop up and cheer, INDESCRIBABLE!

A pink double decker bus drives past. Sprinkle Fairy appears with her star wand.

She says, INDESCRIBABLE IS
WHEN SOMETHING
IS SO DIFFERENT,
YOU DON'T HAVE
ANY WORDS FOR IT.
YOU KNOW, LIKE
CHAZ NOT BEING ABLE
TO TELL POPPY
WHAT A MANGOSTEEN
TASTES LIKE.

Sprinkle Fairy joins Poppy.

Poppy says, IF MANGOSTEENS
ARE INDESCRIBABLE,
HOW CAN I KNOW WHAT
THEY’RE LIKE?

Sprinkle Fairy says, OOH! MAYBE CHAZ
CAN THINK OF A FOOD
WITH THE SAME KIND
OF FLAVOUR.
TOODLES!

Sprinkle Fairy flies away. Poppy picks up her grocery bag of mangosteens. Two Sprinklers race past on a scooter.

Chaz says, THERE IS ONE THING
I'VE HAD THAT TASTED
LIKE MANGOSTEEN.

Poppy asks, WHAT WAS IT?

Chaz says, ANOTHER
MANGOSTEEN.

Poppy sighs. Chaz giggles.

Poppy says, NOT HELPFUL CHAZ.

Poppy, Chaz and Poppy’s dad start to leave.

Poppy says, THERE HAS TO BE
SOMETHING ELSE.

The Sprinklers on the scooter race down the sidewalk giggling. The orange Sprinkler reaches for the steering wheel. The blue Sprinkler blocks their reach. While distracted, they hit a rock and are thrown through the air. They land in Poppy’s dad’s grocery bag.

At home, Poppy asks, DO MANGOSTEENS
TASTE LIKE THIS?

Poppy feeds Chaz a spoonful of orange mush.

Chaz says, NOPE.

Poppy squirts ketchup into Chaz’s mouth and giggles.

Chaz says, NOPE.

Poppy tosses a mushroom into Chaz’s mouth.

Poppy says, HUH?

Chaz says, NUH-UH.
NONE OF THESE FOODS
TASTE LIKE MANGOSTEEN.

Poppy says, WHAT IF I MIX
THEM ALL TOGETHER?

Poppy pours green sludge into a bowl. She adds other ingredients to the bowl such as ketchup, lemon juice and cereal. Poppy stirs the ingredients together. She collects a spoonful of her mixture. She smiles and feeds it to Chaz. Chaz’s eyes widen and he frowns.

He says, EWW!

Chaz chugs a glass of water and wipes his mouth.

He says, OWW!

Poppy says, IT CAN'T BE
THAT BAD.

Poppy tastes her mixture.

She says, YUCK!
I HOPE MANGOSTEENS
AREN'T LIKE THIS!

Chaz says, DON’T WORRY.
A MANGOSTEEN
IS WAY MORE

Chaz looks thoughtful.

He says, ..OOH, I STILL
DON’T HAVE THE WORDS.

Chaz looks frustrated.

He says, IT’S INDESCRIBABLE.

Poppy says, I GIVE UP.
I'LL NEVER KNOW
THE TASTE OF MANGOSTEENS.

Poppy shakes her head.

(Doorbell rings)

Poppy gasps.

She and Chaz say, OLEANDER’S HERE!

They run out and past bags of groceries. The larger bag topples over. The Sprinkler’s drive out on their scooter. They hit a mangosteen and crash land. They sit up and giggle. Oleander walks through the house.

Poppy says, OLEANDER!

Poppy and Oleander perform their friendship handshake. The friends giggle.

Poppy says, I'VE GOT THE BEST
SNACKY SURPRISE
FOR YOU!

Oleander says, OH, I LOVE
SNACKY SURPRISES.

Poppy sighs happily. A mangosteen has been cut open.

Poppy says, FINALLY TIME TO TRY.

Poppy samples a piece of the mangosteen.

She says, ‘MMM.

Poppy looks thoughtful. She sits at a table between Chaz and Oleander, each with their own mangosteen.

Poppy says, MANGOSTEEN REALLY IS
A STRANGE FLAVOUR.

Oleander says, IT'S KIND OF
LIKE A PEACH,
BUT NOT AS SWEET.
IT’S SO...SO

Together, the three friends say,
YUMMY!

Oleander eats another piece of the mangosteen.

Chaz says, HEY, WE DID IT.
WE FOUND THE RIGHT WORD
FOR MANGOSTEEN.
WE DESCRIBED
THE INDESCRIBABLE.

Poppy’s dad joins the friends with the bowl of Poppy’s mixture.

He says, WHAT'S THIS MASH
IN THE KITCHEN?
I JUST HAD SOME.
IT’S INDESCRIBABLE
BUT, I LOVE IT.

Poppy’s dad eats a spoonful of the mash. Chaz and Poppy cringe.

They say, UGH!

The friends wink at each other and laugh.
