[Music playing]

An “X” explodes into crystals, microscopes and math equations. Eric pulls lightning from a tablet. He has short brown hair and wears a blue t-shirt.

Singing, WHAT A HIT, IT'S NOT A TRICK, IT'S SCIENCXPLOSION, JUST FOR YOU, COOL AND NEW, SCIENCXPLOSION.

A title on a red background reads: ScienceXplosion

Eric sits on a chair. He spins a Rubik’s cube.

A narrator says, SAY, ERIC, YOU'RE GOOD AT THAT GAME! YOU NEVER MISS A "TURN,"
DO YOU?

Eric shakes his head.

The narrator asks, DO YOU THINK YOU COULD DO IT WITHOUT USING YOUR SENSE OF SIGHT?

Eric points at his eyes and then at the cube.

The narrator asks, WHAT IF YOU USED A DIFFERENT SENSE LIKE HEARING, SMELL, TASTE, OR TOUCH?

Eric nods and puts on a blindfold.

The narrator says, YOU SEEM VERY SURE! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW YOU'LL DO IT AND WHICH SENSE YOU'LL USE!

[Music playing]

Eric feels around a table beside the chair. He grabs a Rubik’s cube and twists it. He moves his hands, and the cube is solved.

The narrator says, HA HA NO FAIR, ERIC. YOU USED YOUR SENSE OF MAGIC, WHICH DOESN'T COUNT!

Eric takes off the blindfold and nods.

The narrator says, I KNOW ANOTHER GREAT GAME! INSTEAD OF USING YOUR SENSE OF SIGHT, YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR OTHER FOUR SENSES: SMELL, HEARING, TASTE, AND TOUCH. WANNA PLAY?

Eric smiles and nods.

The narrator says, LET'S GO!

Eric gets up.

Eric stands at a table.

The narrator says, OK, FIRST, TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING, PUT ON YOUR BLINDFOLD.

Eric puts on the blindfold.

The narrator asks, YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING, RIGHT, ERIC?

Eric waves his hand in front of his face and shakes his head.

The narrator says, PERFECT! HERE'S HOW THE GAME WORKS: RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, THERE'S AN OBJECT UNDER A LID. YOU HAVE TO GUESS WHAT IT IS BY USING FOUR OF YOUR SENSES: SMELL, TOUCH, HEARING, AND TASTE.

White text reads: Smell, touch, hearing, taste, sight.

The word sight is crossed out.

The narrator says, BUT YOU CAN'T USE YOUR SENSE OF SIGHT. ARE YOU READY?

Eric gives two thumbs up.

The narrator says, YOU CAN REMOVE THE LID.

Eric lifts a lid. Underneath is a container of spaghetti.

The narrator says, THE MYSTERY OBJECT IS IN FRONT OF YOU, INSIDE THE CONTAINER YOU ARE TOUCHING RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN START WITH YOUR SENSE OF HEARING.

Eric points to his ear.

The narrator asks, CAN YOU FIGURE IT OUT BY LISTENING TO IT?

Eric shakes the container.

[Rattling]
The narrator asks, WHAT DOES YOUR HEARING TELL YOU?

A thought bubble appears with a picture of Jello.

The narrator says, NO, THAT'S NOT IT! DO YOU WANT TO TRY YOUR LUCK WITH YOUR SENSE OF TOUCH?

Eric wriggles his fingers.

The narrator says, YOU CAN OPEN THE NEXT LID NOW.

Eric opens the container and sets the lid aside. He pats the spaghetti.

A thought bubble appears with a picture of a brain.

[Music playing]

The narrator says, EWWW NO, NOT THAT!

Eric wriggles his fingers.

[Tinkling sound]

He pulls out a noodle.

[Music playing]

A thought bubble shows a picture of a worm.

The narrator says, NO, DEFINITELY NOT A WORM!

Eric touches the spaghetti again. He pulls out a meatball.

The thought bubble shows an eyeball.

The narrator says, OH ERIC, I WOULDN'T DO THAT TO YOU!

Eric wipes his forehead and looks relieved.

The narrator says, NOW TRY YOUR SENSE OF SMELL.

Eric points to his nose.

[Honk]

Eric inhales. He lifts the container of spaghetti and sniffs it.

The thought bubble reappears with a picture of garlic.

The narrator says, AH HA, I THINK YOU'RE GETTING CLOSE!

Eric smiles. He points to his mouth and makes a pleading gesture with his hands.

The narrator says, OH YES, GO AHEAD. YOUR SENSE OF TASTE COMES NEXT!

Eric pulls out a noodle.

[Slide whistle]

Eric eats the noodle.

The thought bubble shows a plate of spaghetti and meatballs.

The narrator says, YOU DID IT, ERIC! BRAVO!

Eric takes off his blindfold and smiles. He shakes out a cloth napkin and looks at the container.

The narrator says, ENJOY, ERIC! YOU DESERVE IT! YOU FIGURED OUT THAT IT WAS SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS WITHOUT USING YOUR SENSE OF SIGHT.

Eric tucks the napkin into his shirt and picks up a fork and spoon.

The narrator says, BON APPETIT!

[Music playing]

Eric is in front of a blackboard. He draws a big button on it. Eric hits the button and the colours appear on the blackboard. It shows a video of a monkey sitting and eating.

The narrator says, HEY, DID YOU KNOW THAT MOST ANIMALS HAVE THE SAME SENSES PEOPLE DO, BUT DON'T ALWAYS USE THEM IN QUITE THE SAME WAY?

There is photograph of a bald eagle in flight.

The narrator says, EAGLES IN THE SKY USE THEIR EYES TO SEE SMALL ANIMALS ON THE GROUND.
A black and white dog sniffs the ground.

The narrator says, DOGS HAVE A SENSE OF SMELL THAT'S A THOUSAND TIMES MORE SENSITIVE THAN HUMANS. IT'S LIKE THEY USE THEIR NOSES TO "SEE" THE WORLD!

There is a picture of an orange cat.

The narrator says, CATS USE THEIR WHISKERS TO FEEL THE WORLD AROUND THEM, AND SNAKES USE THEIR TONGUES TO 'TASTE' THE AIR AND FIND FOOD! AMAZING!

[Music playing]

Eric sits at the table, eating from a big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs.

The narrator says, NOW THAT YOU'VE SEEN ERIC USE FOUR OF HIS FIVE SENSES TO IDENTIFY A MYSTERY OBJECT, YOU CAN HAVE FUN ASKING FAMILY OR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME THING!

Eric nods.

The narrator says, CHOOSE ONE SENSE AT RANDOM AND SEE HOW YOU DO! AND DON'T FORGET, IT'S NOT MAGIC, IT'S SCIENCE!

Eric gets up and hurries away.

[Footsteps]

Eric comes back and eats more spaghetti.
