(Upbeat theme music)

Children in split screens wearing colorful aprons use pots, pans, bowls, spoons, and other kitchen items as musical instruments. Food is prepared in some of the screens.
Photographs of prepared food dishes appear.

A title in colourful text between an animated fork and knife reads, “My World Kitchen”

A narrator says, WHOSE KITCHEN ARE
WE GOING TO TODAY?

A girl with long blonde hair wearing a dress with purple cat heads on it opens a yellow door.

The girl says, HI, MY NAME'S SCARLET.
WELCOME TO MY HOUSE.
COME IN.

Scarlet walks through her living room, which has yellow walls. She enters a brightly lit kitchen with large windows over the sink and white cupboards.

Scarlet says, THIS IS MY MUM.

Scarlet’s mum has short blonde hair and wears an orange cardigan sweater over a black tank top and black pants.

Scarlet’s mum says, HELLO.

The narrator says, HI, MUM!

Scarlet goes behind a kitchen island with a white marble cutting board, a roll of paper towels, and several bowls of ingredients on it.

Scarlet says, AND THIS IS MY KITCHEN.
TODAY, I'M GOING TO BE MAKING
FRENCH RATATOUILLE, BECAUSE I
LOVE IT.

The narrator says, SCARLET'S MUM HAS SHOWN HER A
VERY SPECIAL WAY TO MAKE
RATATOUILLE, WHICH SHE CAN DO
BY HERSELF.
SCARLET'S MUM IS FRENCH AND
COMES FROM FRANCE.

A colourful map of the world appears. A red arrow points at France.

The narrator continues, FRANCE IS A COUNTRY IN EUROPE
SEPARATED FROM THE UK BY THE
ENGLISH CHANNEL.

The Arc De Triomphe stands under a clear blue sky.

The narrator continues, THE CAPITAL CITY OF FRANCE IS
CALLED PARIS.
ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS
BUILDINGS HERE IS THE EIFFEL
TOWER.

The Eiffel Tower stands under a cloudy sky.

The narrator continues, FRANCE IS A VERY BIG COUNTRY.
AND THE WEATHER CAN BE VERY
WARM IN SOME PARTS, BUT COLD IN
OTHERS.

The sun shines over a snow-covered mountain range.

The narrator continues, MANY PEOPLE GROW LOTS OF
DIFFERENT VEGETABLES IN FRANCE,
INCLUDING AUBERGINES, TOMATOES,
GARLIC, AND COURGETTES.
DO YOU THINK SCARLET WILL BE
USING ANY OF THESE IN HER
RATATOUILLE?

Scarlet washes her hands.

The narrator says, SCARLET'S WASHED HER HANDS, PUT
ON HER APRON, AND SHE'S READY
TO COOK.

Scarlet wears a bright pink apron.

Scarlet says, I'M GOING TO BE MAKING FRENCH
RATATOUILLE FOR MY FRIENDS.

AND SHE'S INVITED BRONWEN...

A girl with curly strawberry blonde hair wearing a blue coat over a red plaid dress waves.

The narrator continues, AMELIE...

A girl with brown braided pigtails wearing a furry purple coat waves.

AND NIALL…

A boy with blonde hair parted to the side wearing a red and blue coat over a white t-shirt waves.

The narrator continues, TO TASTE ONE
OF THE MAIN INGREDIENTS BEFORE
THEY COME ROUND FOR A VERY
SPECIAL FRENCH MEAL LATER.

Amelie opens a small cardboard box.

The narrator says, WHAT'S THAT?

Amelie says, LOOKS LIKE AN APPLE.

Niall says, IT LOOKS LIKE CUCUMBER.

Bronwen says, LOOKS LIKE A CUCUMBER.

The kids bite a small slice of a green and white vegetable.

The narrator says, OH, IT'S NOT APPLE OR
CUCUMBER.
IT'S COURGETTE.

Amelie says, I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT IT
IS.

Niall says, IT TASTES A BIT BORING.

Amelie says, I THINK I MIGHT LIKE THIS IN
FOOD.

Two green courgettes sit on a white marble countertop.

The narrator says, EVERYONE'S NOT SURE ABOUT THE
TASTE OF COURGETTE.
CAN SCARLET CHANGE THEIR MINDS?
BECAUSE COURGETTES ARE ONE OF
THE MAIN INGREDIENTS IN
SCARLET'S RATATOUILLE.
YOU'LL ALSO NEED FRESH THYME,
ROASTED PEPPERS, LONG SHALLOTS,
CAMEMBERT CHEESE, BABY
AUBERGINES, CHOPPED TINNED
TOMATOES, BLACK PEPPER, GARLIC,
AND VEGETABLE OIL.

The ingredients appear on the marble countertop. Scarlet picks up a large white bowl.

Scarlet says, FIRST, WE'RE GOING TO GREASE
THE DISH.

The narrator says, BRUSH THE INSIDE WITH THE
VEGETABLE OIL AND TIP IN THE
CHOPPED TOMATOES.

Scarlet pours a can of tomatoes into the bowl.

Scarlet says, THEY'RE ALL SLURPY
AND RED.

The narrator says, TAKE ROASTED PEPPERS FROM A
JAR AND DAB THEM DRY ON KITCHEN
PAPER.

Scarlet says, THEN I'M GOING TO
DAB THEM WITH A TISSUE.
THEN I'M GOING TO CHOP THEM UP
INTO STRIPS.

Scarlet cuts the peppers with safety scissors.

The narrator says, CAREFULLY DOES IT, SCARLET.
THEN JUST POP THEM INTO THE
DISH.

Scarlet says, GET THE AUBERGINES AND CUT
THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM OF THE
AUBERGINES.

The narrator says, MMM.
NOW, CAREFULLY CUT THEM INTO
SMALLER CHUNKS, ADD THEM TO THE
TOMATOES AND ROASTED PEPPERS,
AND GIVE IT ALL A GOOD MIX.
CUT THE ENDS FROM YOUR LONG
SHALLOTS.

Scarlet says, PEEL THE SHALLOTS.
MY FRIENDS HAVE NOT HAD
RATATOUILLE.
SO I HOPE THEY LIKE IT.

The narrator says, OOH, LET'S HOPE SO, SCARLET.
NOW, POP YOUR SHALLOTS INTO A
PLASTIC FOOD BAG, AND THEN PEEL
SOME GARLIC.
IF YOU FIND THIS TRICKY, YOU
CAN ASK A GROWNUP TO HELP YOU.

Scarlet says, LET'S PUT OUR GARLIC IN THE
BAG.

The narrator says, NOW, GIVE IT A GOOD BASH.
AND DON'T FORGET, YOU CAN
ALWAYS WASH THE BAG AND USE IT
AGAIN AFTERWARDS!

Scarlet crushes shallots and garlic with the end of a wooden rolling pin.

Scarlet says, IT'S REALLY HARD TO BASH THE
SHALLOTS.
IT'S NICE AND BASHED.
WE CAN POUR IT INTO THE POT.
AND WE'RE GOING TO STIR IT.
NOW, IT'S TIME FOR MY VERY
SPECIAL INGREDIENT.

The narrator says, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS,
DON'T YOU?
THAT'S RIGHT.
IT'S COURGETTE.

An animated leafy green courgette plant is shown over a grey background.

The narrator continues, COURGETTES ARE VEGETABLES THAT
GROW FROM A PLANT.
COURGETTES CAN BE COOKED IN
MANY DIFFERENT WAYS, SUCH AS
BOILED, GRILLED, OR CUT INTO
STRIPS AND USED JUST LIKE
PASTA.

The colourful map of the world appears.

The narrator continues, COURGETTES ARE GROWN ALL OVER
THE WORLD AND IN SOME COUNTRIES
ARE KNOWN AS ZUCCHINI.
IF COURGETTES AREN'T PICKED,
THEY GET BIGGER AND BIGGER.
AND WHEN SOME TYPES ARE LEFT TO
GROW FOR A LONG TIME, THEY
BECOME ENORMOUS AND ARE CALLED
MARROWS.
THE BIGGEST MARROW EVER GROWN
WEIGHED MORE THAN A KANGAROO!

An animated kangaroo stands beside a courgette in front of the grey background. Scarlet takes a courgette off a white plate and places it on the cutting board.

Scarlet says, TAKE THEM OFF OF OUR PLATE.

The narrator says, AND CAREFULLY CHOP OFF BOTH
ENDS AND CUT THEM INTO DISCS.

Scarlet says, WHEN I GO TO FRANCE,
I GO WITH MY GRANDMA AND
GRANDPA, MAMIE ET PAPI.
THEY TAKE ME TO A BOULANGERIE.

The narrator says, THAT'S FRENCH FOR BAKERY.

Scarlet says, AND I BUY CROISSANTS
AND BREAD.
IT'S VERY YUMMY.

The narrator says, KEEP CUTTING THE COURGETTES
AND PUT THEM TO ONE SIDE FOR
LATER.

Scarlet places sliced courgettes on a white plate.

Scarlet says, LET'S GET OUR THYME.

The narrator says, AND PULL OFF THE LEAVES.
ADD THEM TO YOUR DISH WITH A
FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER, AND
MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT!
WHAT NEXT?

Scarlet says, GET OUR CAMEMBERT CHEESE AND
RIP IT UP.
CAMEMBERT CHEESE IS FROM FRANCE,
AND I LOVE IT.
NOW, WE'RE GOING TO HIDE THE
CHEESE IN THE POT.

The narrator says, OOH, JUST POKE IT INTO THE
LOVELY VEGETABLE SAUCE.

Scarlet says, LET'S GET OUR COURGETTES.
AND I'M GOING TO ARRANGE THEM
IN A SWIRL SHAPE.

Scarlet carefully places the sliced courgettes atop the tomato and vegetable mix in the white bowl.

The narrator says, THAT'S GREAT.
IT'S LIKE A COURGETTE LID.
NOW, BRUSH WITH VEGETABLE OIL
AND ADD ANOTHER FEW TWISTS OF
BLACK PEPPER.

Scarlet says, IT'S READY!
MUM!

Scarlet’s mum enters the kitchen.

Scarlet’s mum says, OH, THAT LOOKS LOVELY,
SCARLET.

Scarlet’s mum puts the white bowl into an oven.

The narrator says, IF YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE
SCARLET'S FRENCH RATATOUILLE AT
HOME, BRUSH THE INSIDE OF A
CASSEROLE DISH WITH VEGETABLE
OIL.
AND TIP IN CHOPPED TINNED
TOMATOES.
DAB DRY SOME ROASTED PEPPERS
FROM A JAR.
CAREFULLY CUT THEM UP AND ADD
THEM TO THE DISH.
CUT THE ENDS FROM BABY
AUBERGINES AND CUT THEM IN HALF
LIKE THIS.
TEAR OR CUT THESE HALVES TO
MAKE CHUNKS.
PUT THEM INTO THE DISH AND GIVE
IT A GOOD MIX.
THEN CAREFULLY CUT THE ENDS OFF
THE LONG SHALLOTS.
PEEL OFF THE SKIN AND PUT THEM
INTO A PLASTIC FOOD BAG.
ALSO PEEL THE SKIN OFF THE
GARLIC.
ADD THIS TO THE BAG, TOO, AND
GIVE IT A GOOD BASH.
DON'T FORGET THAT YOU CAN WASH
AND REUSE THE BAG LATER.
ADD THE BASHED MIXTURE TO THE
DISH AND MIX IT, MIX IT,
MIX IT!
CAREFULLY CHOP THE ENDS OFF THE
COURGETTES AND CUT THEM INTO
DISCS.
PULL THE LEAVES OFF FRESH
THYME.
ADD THEM TO THE DISH.
GRIND IN SOME BLACK PEPPER,
AND GIVE IT ANOTHER GOOD MIX.
THEN TEAR THE CAMEMBERT INTO
CHUNKS AND GRADUALLY PUSH IT
INTO THE SAUCE.
MAKE A LID OF COURGETTES AND
BRUSH THEM WITH OIL.
GRIND ON SOME MORE BLACK PEPPER
AND ASK A GROWNUP TO POP IT
INTO THE OVEN FOR YOU.

Scarlet places white dishes onto her dining room table, which is covered with a light blue tablecloth.

The narrator says, NOW, THERE'S JUST ENOUGH TIME
FOR SCARLET TO GET THE TABLE
READY FOR HER VERY SPECIAL
RATATOUILLE.

Scarlet sets the table. She places a bouquet of purple flowers on a circular piece of wood.

Scarlet says, NICE.

The narrator says, VERY NICE INDEED.

(Doorbell ringing)

The narrator says, WELL DONE, SCARLET.
YOUR FRENCH-THEMED TABLE LOOKS
FANTASTIC!

Scarlet opens her yellow front door.

Scarlet’s friends say, HI, SCARLET!

Scarlet’s friends enter her house.

The narrator says, EVERYONE'S WASHED THEIR
HANDS, AND THEY'RE READY TO
EAT.

Scarlet enters her dining room with her friends.

Bronwen says, WOW.
THIS IS AMAZING.

The kids sit around the table in brown wooden chairs.

Scarlet asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MY
TABLE, GUYS?

Niall says, I LIKE THE FLOWERS THE MOST.
JUST THE DIFFERENT COLOURS.

Bronwen says, WELL, I CAN'T REALLY CHOOSE.
IT'S ALL BEAUTIFUL.

Scarlet says, ARE YOU HUNGRY?

The kids say, YEAH!

Scarlet says, WHAT DO YOU THINK WE'RE
HAVING FOR DINNER?

Amelie says, I THINK IT'S RATATOUILLE.

Bronwen says, FISH FINGERS?
I JUST LOVE THEM.

The narrator says, FISH FINGERS, BRONWEN?

Scarlet says, WE'RE HAVING RATATOUILLE.

The kids cheer, YAY!

Scarlet’s mum brings the bowl of ratatouille into the dining room.

The narrator says, OF COURSE, RATATOUILLE, AND
HERE COMES MUM WITH A BIG BOWL
OF IT.
SCARLET'S RATATOUILLE LOOKS
FANTASTIC!
THE COURGETTES ARE COOKED
BEAUTIFULLY.
AND THE DELICIOUS FRENCH
CAMEMBERT HAS MELTED INTO THE
VEGETABLE SAUCE.

Scarlet’s mum spoons ratatouille onto a white dish.

The narrator says, THIS LOVELY FRENCH DISH
WOULDN'T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT
SOME TASTY FRENCH BREAD.

Scarlet’s mom places a basket of small baguettes on the table.

Scarlet says, LET'S TUCK IN.
BON APPÉTIT!

The narrator says, AH, BON APPÉTIT.
THAT'S FRENCH FOR "ENJOY YOUR
MEAL."
IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE.

The kids eat ratatouille.

Scarlet asks, GUYS, WOULD YOU LIKE SOME
BREAD?

Bronwen says, YES, PLEASE.

Scarlet asks, DO YOU WANT SOME?

Bronwen tears off a piece of a baguette.

The narrator says, EARLIER TODAY, SCARLET'S
FRIENDS WEREN'T TOO SURE ABOUT
THE TASTE OF COURGETTE.
I WONDER IF THEY'LL CHANGE
THEIR MINDS NOW THEY'VE TRIED
IT IN SCARLET'S FRENCH
RATATOUILLE.

Scarlet asks, SO, WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF
THE FOOD?

Bronwen says, I THINK IT'S REALLY YUMMY.

Scarlet says, THANK YOU, BRONWEN.

Niall says, REALLY FANTASTIC.

Scarlet asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK OUR SPECIAL
INGREDIENT IS, GUYS?

Bronwen says, THE CUCUMBER-Y GREEN THINGY.

Amelie says, I THINK IT'S THE COURGETTE,
SCARLET.

Scarlett says, IT IS COURGETTES!

Bronwen says, THE CUCUMBER
THING-A-MA-JIGGY!

Scarlet asks, DO YOU LIKE THE TASTE OF
COURGETTE IN MY RATATOUILLE?

Bronwen says, I LIKE THE CHEESE AND ALSO
THE COURGETTE, TOO.

Amelie says, I WOULD SAY IT'S GOOD.

The narrator says, WELL DONE, SCARLET.
YOUR FRIENDS DO LIKE THE TASTE
OF COURGETTES AFTER ALL.

The kids dip bread into ratatouille sauce.

Scarlet says, THANK YOU FOR COMING TO
MY WORLD KITCHEN.
