A person says, WHEE!

An animated logo reads: tvokids + Riverbank Pictures Original.

(Giggling)

(Cheerful music plays)

An animated sun shines brightly as a plane flies through the sky. An owl sits on a tree branch beside host Mandisa, who waves. Mandisa has black hair held back by a headband and wears denim overalls over a peach t-shirt.

An animated ladybug lands on a flower beside Mandisa. A bus drives down a street as Mandisa walks down a path. Mandisa wears a fox hand puppet crafted out of a paper bag and holds a cardboard robot. Mandisa smiles.

A title reads, Curious Crafting.

Mandisa sits at a table in a playroom. She wears a colourful headband and denim overalls over a light green shirt. Children sit on either side of Mandisa. One has short brown hair and the other has long brown hair. Mandisa and the children briefly flap their arms like wings.

Mandisa says, I HAVE THESE EXTRA
COFFEE FILTERS,
AND I DON'T WANT TO
THROW THEM AWAY.
HMMM, MAYBE WE CAN MAKE A CRAFT
OUT OF THEM.
LIKE A HAT?

Mandisa wears a coffee filter like a hat.

Both children say, NO.

Mandisa asks, WHAT SHOULD WE MAKE?

The long haired child says, BUTTERFLY.

Mandisa pulls out a butterfly coffee filter craft.

She says, LIKE THIS ONE?

The long haired child says, YEAH.

Mandisa says, LET'S GO GET OUR CRAFT SUPPLIES.

Mandisa and the children leave the table. The children collect craft supplies.

Mandisa narrates, WE'RE GOING TO NEED
COFFEE FILTERS,
PAINT AND A PAINTBRUSH.
PIPE CLEANERS.
MARKERS.
CLOTHES PINS.
EYE DROPPERS AND A SPRAY BOTTLE.

Mandisa sits at the table with the children and their crafting supplies.

Mandisa says, OK.
WE'RE GOING TO USE THE COFFEE
FILTERS
TO MAKE OUR BUTTERFLY WINGS.

The short haired child giggles.

Mandisa says, NOW YOU CAN TAKE SOME WASHABLE
MARKERS
AND COLOUR YOUR COFFEE FILTER.

The long haired child takes a blue marker from Mandisa.

The short haired child says, MAKE IT ALL COLOURFUL.

The child draws on a coffee filter with a pink marker.

Mandisa says, OH, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA.
LET'S PUT LOTS OF DIFFERENT
COLOURS.

The short haired child says, COLOURS.

Mandisa asks, WHAT COLOUR DO YOU WANT NOW?

The long haired child says, I NEED A PINK
ONE TOO.

The child draws on a coffee filter with a pink marker.

The short haired child says, I MAKE RAINBOW.

In a timelapse, the children colour their coffee filters.

Mandisa says, LET'S MIX THE COLOURS
USING SOME WATER.
I HAVE SOME TUBS HERE
THAT WE CAN USE TO
CONTAIN THE MESS.

Mandisa places the coloured coffee filters in a large plastic container.

She says, I HAVE A SPRAY BOTTLE FOR YOU
AND EYE DROPPERS FOR YOU.

Mandisa passes the long haired child a spray bottle. The short haired child holds an eye dropper.

The child says, LET'S FILL IT UP.

Mandisa says, YEAH.

The long haired child sprays water on their coffee filters. Mandisa helps the short haired child collect water with the eye dropper.

Mandisa says, THE WATER IS GOING TO COME UP.
AND THEN YOU CAN SQUEEZE IT
ONTO YOUR COFFEE FILTER.

The short haired child squeezes water onto their coffee filter.

The child says, SPRAY.

Mandisa says, JUST A FEW MORE SPRAYS.

She holds the container in place for the long haired child.

The short haired child says, WHAT'S HAPPENING TO
MY COLOURS?

Mandisa says, WHAT'S HAPPENING?

The marker colours on the children’s coffee filters start to spread. With the table clear of craft supplies, Mandisa holds her finished butterfly craft.

She says, WHILE WE WAIT FOR A
BUTTERFLY'S WINGS TO DRY,
LET'S MAKE THE...

Mandisa points to a painted clothespin holding the coffee filters of her craft.

The short haired child says, …BODY.

Mandisa says, TIME TO PAINT OUR
BUTTERFLY'S BODY.
I'LL GIVE YOU A CLOTHES PIN.

Mandisa passes each child a clothespin.

Mandisa says, AND THERE'S A CLOTHES PIN FOR
YOU NIA AND A BRUSH.
I HAVE SOME YELLOW PAINT HERE
TO COLOUR YOUR CLOTHES PIN.

Nia, the long haired child, and the child with short hair paint their clothespins yellow.

The short haired child says, I MAKE THE
WING YELLOW.

Mandisa and the children sit at the table with their dried coffee filters.

Mandisa says, NOW THEY'RE ALL DRY.
TIME TO FOLD THEM,
TO MAKE AN ACCORDION BACK
AND FORTH.
YES, YOU CAN ASK SOMEONE
TO HELP YOU FOLD THEM UP.

Mandisa folds one of Nia’s coffee filters. Nia works on folding her other coffee filter while she watches Mandisa. The short haired child works on folding a coffee filter.

The child says, LIKE THIS.

Mandisa says, THAT’S GREAT JAXON.

Jaxon, the short haired child, holds up his folded coffee filter.

Mandisa says, AND THEN YOU CAN
TAKE YOUR CLOTHES PIN,
WE WILL PLACE OUR WINGS INSIDE.

Mandisa pins a painted clothespin over the centre of Jaxon’s folded coffee filter.

Mandisa says, JUST LIKE THAT.
PLACE THE SECOND WING IN,
OPEN IT UP.

Jaxon opens his clothespin. Mandisa slides his other folded coffee filter in.

Mandisa says, THERE WE GO.
AND NOW YOU CAN FLUFF UP
YOUR WINGS.

Mandisa helps Jaxon gently unfold the coffee filters.

Mandisa says, YEAH, ONE…

Nia holds up her clothespin and coffee filter wings.

She says, UH, WE NEED
THAT TOO.

She points to a Mandisa’s butterfly craft.

Mandisa says, THAT'S RIGHT.
THESE ARE THE ANTENNAS.

Mandisa points to a purple pipe cleaner on her butterfly.

She says, I HAVE TWO PIPE CLEANERS.
CAN YOU FOLD YOUR PIPE CLEANERS
IN HALF?

Mandisa helps Jaxon fold his pipe cleaner.

Mandisa says, AND THIS SIDE OVER.
OK, AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO CURL
THE END
AND THEN I'M GOING TO
GO LIKE THIS.

Mandisa wraps an end of the pipe cleaner around Jaxon’s finger.

Mandisa says, CURL IT ALL THE WAY AROUND.
AND THEN I'M GOING TO
PULL IT OFF.

Mandisa pulls the pipe cleaner off Jaxon’s finger.

Mandisa says, NOW YOU HAVE A LITTLE CURL!

She helps Nia with her craft.

Mandisa says, WE'RE GOING TO SQUEEZE THE PIN
AND POP THE ANTENNAS ON TOP.

Mandisa helps Jaxon pin his antenna to his butterfly.

Mandisa says, ALL RIGHT, THERE YOU GO.

Mandisa and the children hold up their butterfly crafts.

Mandisa says, SHOULD WE MAKE OUR
BUTTERFLIES FLY?

Nia says, YEAH!

Jaxon laughs.

Mandisa says, LET'S FLY IN THE GARDEN.

Mandisa and the children play with their butterflies.

Jaxon says, MY NAME IS JAXON.

Mandisa says, OH HELLO JAXON.
