Polkaroo skips down the porch steps of his house to the garden. It's nighttime. The lights are on inside the house and there is a cozy sofa
on the porch. Polkaroo looks at the night sky through his telescope.
He says OHH!
Polkaroo is tall and green. He is a kangaroo and wears a mended, yellow and multi-coloured polka-dot costume. He cups his hands over his long green ears.

He says POLKAROO!

His yellow hair moves as he jumps up and flies to outer space. He passes planet Earth and continues flying way up like a rocket!

He shouts POLKAROO!!

As the hot blazing sun and mercury appear,
a female voice says
IF YOU GO WAY UP PAST
THE CLOUDS INTO SPACE,
YOU'LL FIND EIGHT PLANETS,
EACH IN THEIR PLACE.

The planets appear on screen as the voice names them. Mercury is small and red.
THE FIRST IS MERCURY,
SECOND IS VENUS,
Venus is brownish with stripes.
THIRD IS THE EARTH WITH THE
MOON FLYING BETWEEN US.
The Earth is blue and brown, which shows the surface of the oceans and the land. The moon appears between Earth and Mars.
MARS IS FOURTH,
Mars is red.
JUPITER'S FIFTH.
Jupiter is enormous and red with off white stripes and a stain shaped like an eye.
SATURN'S THE SIXTH WITH
RINGS THAT GO SWISH.
Saturn is grayish and has rings around it.
SEVENTH IS URANUS,
THEN AT THE END,
NEPTUNE IS EIGHTH NEAR
PLUTO THEIR FRIEND.

Uranus and Neptune are bluish and about the same size. Pluto is the smallest and it's off white.
The planets start spinning in line around the sun.

The female voice says THE PLANETS SPIN ROUND
THE SUN IN SPACE.

Polkaroo floats in space. He has a number on his chest and a whistle in his hand.

The voice says POLKAROO'S GOT AN IDEA!
LET'S HAVE A RACE!

The planets float in a line in front of Polkaroo. He blows his yellow whistle.

The voice says NEXT TO THESE PLANETS,
MERCURY IS SMALL,
BUT WHEN IT GETS GOING,
IT'S THE FASTEST OF ALL!

Mercury shoots ahead.

The voice continues EARTH TAKES ONE YEAR
TO CIRCLE THE SUN.

Earth spins around the sun slowly. Mercury races past Earth and around the sun really quickly!

The voice says MERCURY CAN CIRCLE
IT FOUR TIMES
BEFORE A YEAR IS DONE.

The sun shines on one side of the screen. Mercury whooshes past it. Polkaroo runs after Mercury.

The voice says MERCURY'S THE FASTEST 'CAUSE
IT'S CLOSE TO THE SUN.
IT MOVES MUCH MORE QUICKLY
THAN POLKAROO CAN RUN.

Polkaroo is tired. He puts a hand on his belly and gasps as he wipes his forehead.

The voice says NOW, POLKAROO, SAY
GOODBYE TO SPACE.
HELP PUT THE PLANETS
BACK INTO PLACE.
BYE-BYE, PLANETS.
BYE-BYE, POLKAROO.

He looks up at the planets and floats as he waves goodbye.

The voice says POLKAROO SAYS BYE-BYE
TO YOU, TOO.
Polkaroo says POLKAROO!
