FOR ITS HAIR.
BOTH WORDS ARE
HOMOPHONES.

Cookie says THEY BOTH SOUND
THE SAME BUT HAVE
DIFFERENT MEANINGS
AND SPELLINGS.

In animation, a book with the title "Homophones" opens and shows a drawing of a hare, as in a jackrabbit, and a head with an Afro hairdo.

It spells out H.A.R.E. for the first one, and H.A.I.R. for the second one.

Now the front page of a newspaper reads “Hare’s hair wins blue ribbon.”

Cookie continues THE MAN TOOK VERY GOOD
CARE OF HIS RABBITS.
IN FACT, THEY LIVED
A VERY PEACEFUL
AND UNEVENTFUL LIFE.

Cookie prepares some food in a kitchen, and says
I WISH I HAD A WARM, THICK
COAT OF HAIR LIKE YOU, HOPPY.
WINTER'S COMIN'!
IT'S GETTIN'
COLD OUT THERE.
THAT IS, UNTIL THE
EVIL MAYOR OF DOCVILLE
DECIDED TO TAKE
UP KNITTING.

Mayor McNab sits in her room knitting black wool.

She says PINKY, GET IN
HERE AND SHOW OFF
THAT SWEATER I
KNITTED YOU.

Pinky shows up holding a thick sweater with a teddy bear sown onto it.

He says YES, Ms. MAYOR.

Mayor McNab says WELL, WHY AREN'T
YOU WEARIN' IT?

Pinky sheepishly says WELL, IT'S REALLY
ITCHY, Ms. MAYOR.

Mayor McNab says OH, NONSENSE.
I KNITTED THAT WITH THE
FINEST SHEEP'S WOOL.
YOU FIND AN ANIMAL
WITH SOFT HAIR
AND I'LL USE THAT.

Pinky says I PETTED HOPPY AT THE
ROYAL DOCVILLE FAIR ONCE.
HIS HAIR WAS
PRETTY SOFT.

Mayor McNab says WELL, DON'T JUST
STAND THERE.
GO GET HIM!

Pinky says ALL RIGHT.

Mayor McNab says BUT IT'S COLD
OUTSIDE.
WEAR THIS SCARF.

She puts a long black scarf around his neck.

He protests BUT IT'S -
(music plays)

Then, he leaves. Meanwhile, Cookie offers Hoppy a carrot.

He says COME ON, HOPPY,
COME ON.
WHY ARE YOU NOT
EATIN' YOUR CARROTS?
I GUESS IF IT WAS THE
ONLY THING I EVER ATE,
I'D BE SICK OF
'EM AS WELL.
AH HOO-HOO!
WELL, I GOT A BIG
SURPRISE FOR YOU.
JUST STAY RIGHT
THERE, HOPPY.

Cookie leaves.
(music plays)

Pinky walks in and says OH, HEY,
LITTLE BUDDY.
I HOPE YOUR HARE
HAIR ISN'T SCRATCHY
LIKE THIS SCARF.

He drops the scarf and takes the cage.
(music plays)

Now Cookie returns with a plateful of green vegetables.

He says OHH, HOPPY!
YOU'RE GONNA LOVE
THIS LETTUCE.
HOPPY?

He looks around and says WHAT THE- HOPPY?!

He finds the black scarf and says THE MAYOR!

Now Pinky stands next to Mayor McNab, and says SO HOW DO WE GET THE
HAIR FROM THE HARE
AND TURN IT
INTO A SWEATER?

She replies I'M NOT EXACTLY
SURE.

Cookie walks in and says OH, THERE YOU
ARE, HOPPY!
IF YOU TWO KNEW
ANYTHING ABOUT RABBITS,
YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THAT
IS HIS WINTER COAT
AND HE WILL SHED
IT IN THE SPRING.

He throws the black scarf at Pinky and says YOU FORGOT
YOUR SCARF.

Then, he shakes and says OOOH, IT'S COLD!
NOW IF YOU
DON'T MIND,
HOPPY AND I WILL BE
GETTIN' OUTTA HARE!

He chuckles and says GET IT?

Pinky chuckles.

Mayor McNab says WAIT, YOU SAID YOUR HARE
WILL SHED ITS HAIR SOON?

Cookie asks YES, WHY?

Mayor McNab replies BECAUSE IF YOU BRING ME
THE HAIR FROM YOUR HARE,
I WILL KNIT
YOU A SWEATER.

Pinky says NO, YOU DON'T
WANT THAT.

Cookie says YOU'D REALLY DO
THAT FOR ME?

Mayor McNab replies SURE.
YOU LOOK LIKE YOU
COULD USE A SWEATER.
OOOH, I MOST
CERTAINLY COULD.
IT'S COLD
OUT THERE!
DEAL!

Pinky offers Cookie the thick brown teddy bear sweater,
And says HOW ABOUT THIS?

Cookie pushes his hand away as he says UH, YOU KEEP
THAT ONE.

Back by the campfire, Cookie says AND SO IN THE SPRING,
THE MAN BROUGHT
THE HAIR FROM HIS
HARE TO THE MAYOR,
WHO KNIT HIM A
BEAUTIFUL SWEATER.

Pinky says THAT'S A BEAUTIFUL
STORY, COOKIE.

Mayor McNab pats him.

Cookie says I GOT ANOTHER ONE ABOUT
HOW I GOT THIS SHIRT.
