AS HER MAJOR IN UNIVERSITY.
IN UNIVERSITY KATE WAS ALWAYS
DOING JOBS LIKE TUTORING.
SHE SLOWLY REALIZED THAT
SHE WAS MEANT TO TEACH.
[WHOOSH]

Old Mikaela says A SPELL BINDING STORY FULL OF
DRAMA AND INTRIGUE.
WE NOW RETURN TO THE TALE OF THE
COURAGEOUS MIKAELA.
AND HER BRUSH WITH THE WORLD

Mikaela says I'M PRETTY SURE I'M READY TO
TEACH MY OWN CLASS.
WELL I'LL NEED A FEW TIPS BUT
NOT WHEN IT COMES TO
APPLE EATING.

Kate says WELL WHEN I PLAN A LESSON

DIFFERENT THINGS.
SO THE ONTARIO CURRICULUM TELLS
ME THE BIG IDEAS
OF WHAT I HAVE TO COVER BUT
THE DETAILS ARE UP TO ME.
SO I LIKE TO DO A MIX OF
LESSONS WHERE WE DO
HANDS ON ACTIVITIES, LESSONS
WHERE WE TAKE NOTES,
BUT I ALSO HAVE TO LOOK AT THE
CALENDAR TO MAKE SURE
I COVER THE RIGHT AMOUNT
OF MATERIAL
IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TIME.

Mikaela says GOTCHA. WELL YOU SAID BIOLOGY'S
ABOUT LIVING THINGS
SO MAYBE I COULD DO SOMETHING
ABOUT THE HUMAN BODY.

Kate says THAT SOUNDS PERFECT.

KNOW WHAT LUNGS ARE?

A girl that raised her hand says LUNGS ARE ORGANS IN YOUR CHEST
THAT ALLOW YOU TO INHALE OXYGEN
AND EXPEL CARBON DIOXIDE.

Mikaela says CORRECT. YOU CAN'T SEE
YOUR LUNGS
SO WE'RE GONNA BUILD THE

A MODEL OF YOUR LUNGS.
SO FIRST YOU'RE GONNA TAKE

AND THE STRAW IS THE TRACHEA
SO WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE
THEY ARE ATTACHED TO REPRESENT
IN THE CHEST
WHERE THE TRACHEA AND
LUNGS MEET.

Mikaela says WE'RE GOING TO PUT IT
THROUGH THE
SMALL OPENING OF
YOUR BOTTLE.

THE PLASTIC REPRESENTS
YOUR DIAPHRAGM.
THE LAST THING TO DO TO
FINISH THIS OFF
IS TO CREATE...

She cuts a piece of paper tape and says YOU'RE GOING TO FOLD IT IN HALF
BUT NOT ALL THE WAY.
SO THAT IT SHOULD LOOK
LIKE THIS.
AND THEN YOU PUT IT
AT THE BOTTOM
SO THAT YOU CAN
MAKE A TAB.
AND NOW WHEN YOU PULL, YOU CAN
SEE THE LUNG EXPAND
AND CONTRACT.
CHECK IT OUT EVERYBODY
