(Calm music plays)

Outside Pins and Nettie’s home, rain pours down from a cloud filled sky.

(Squeaking)

Inside in the playroom, Nettie draws on a piece of paper with crayons. Pins runs in playing with a toy airplane. Pins squeaks.

A female narrator says, HI, NETTIE!
HI, PINS!

Pins and Nettie squeak and wave.

The narrator says, IT SURE IS COMING DOWN OUT
THERE, ISN’T IT?

Nettie squeaks. She finishes her drawing of raining pouring down on flowers and holds it up. The narrator laughs.

The narrator says, YUP, PRETY MUCH LIKE THAT,
NETTIE.

Pins squeaks and jumps in a circle with his plane. Pins and Nettie notice rumbles outside.

The narrator says, OOH, SOUNDS LIKE THIS RAIN
STORM MIGHT TURN INTO A THUNDERSTORM.
I LOVE A GOOD THUNDERSTORM.
HOW ABOUT YOU PINS AND NETTIE?

(Thunder rolling)

Pins and Nettie look terrified. Pins drops his plane and both hedgehogs curl into balls. Their eyes peak out.

The narrator says, UH-OH.
I GUESS YOU’RE NOT LOVING THE
THUNDER, HUH?

Pins and Nettie shake their curled up selves to say no. They look up.

(Thunder rolling)

Pins and Nettie jump in fright closer to each other. They shiver.

The narrator says, THUNDER CAN SOUND PRETTY SCARY,
BUT I PROMISE THAT YOU ARE BOTH
SAFE.
THUNDER IS JUST A LOUD NOISE
AND IT CAN’T HURT YOU.

(Thunder rolling)

Pins and Nettie jump and shake in fright.

The narrator says, BUT YOU STILL DON’T LIKE IT,
HUH?

Pins and Nettie shake themselves to say no.

The narrator says, WELL, HOW ABOUT YOU GO BACK TO
PLAYING AND TRY TO IGNORE THE
THUNDER?

Pins and Nettie look at each other. They uncurl themselves but look unsure.

The narrator asks, YOU WERE BOTH HAVING FUN BEFORE
THE THUNDER STARTED, RIGHT?

Pins picks up his plane, and Nettie picks up a crayon.

The narrator says, SO, MAYBE YOU CAN JUST GO BACK
TO HAVING FUN.

Pins and Nettie look around their now quiet home. Pins squeaks and smiles. Nettie smiles back at Pins and they both go back to their activities. Nettie looks up nervously while she draws with a crayon.

(Thunder clapping)

Pins and Nettie look terrified and curl up into balls. When the thunder quiets down their eyes peak out.

The narrator says, OKAY, SO THAT IDEA DIDN’T WORK.

Pins and Nettie shake themselves to say no.

The narrator says, I’M SO SORRY, NETTIE AND PINS.
I DON’T WANT THE THUNDER TO
RUIN THE LOVELY AFTERNOON YOU
WERE HAVING.

(Thunder rolling)

Pins and Nettie jump in fright. They look scared.

The narrator says, OH DEAR, THIS IS NO FUN AT ALL,
IS IT?

Pins and Nettie shake themselves to say no.

The narrator says, WAIT A MINUTE, WHAT IF IT WAS FUN?

Nettie looks curious.

The narrator says, MAYBE YOU CAN CHANGE HOW YOU
FEEL ABOUT THE THUNDER BY
ACTING LIKE IT’S NOT SCARY, BUT
FUNNY.

Pins uncurls, then Nettie. Pins squeaks. Pins and Nettie look uncertain.

The narrator says, YES, FUNNY.

Nettie squeaks. Pins and Nettie look curious.

The narrator says, SO, WHEN SOMETHING IS FUNNY,
YOU LAUGH AT IT RIGHT?

Nettie squeaks. Pins and Nettie nod.

The narrator says, WELL THEN, ON THE NEXT
THUNDERCLAP, I’M JUST GOING TO
LAUGH.

Pins and Nettie look unsure.

(Thunder clapping)

Pins and Nettie look scared. The narrator starts laughing.

She says, SILLY, SILLY THUNDER.

The narrator laughs. Pins and Nettie squeak in laughter.

(Thunder rolling)

Nettie jumps up and down. They keep squeaking. The narrator laughs with them.

The narrator says, OOH, LAUGHING CAN BE QUITE
CONTAGIOUS, CAN’T IT?

The narrator, Pins and Nettie laugh. Nettie rolls onto her back.

The narrator says, WELL, IT’S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO
BE SCARED WHEN YOU’RE LAUGHING,
ISN’T IT, PINS AND NETTIE?

The narrator laughs.

She says, MY GOODNESS, I HAVEN’T LAUGHED
THAT HARD IN A LONG TIME.

Pins and Nettie smile.

The narrator asks, SO, DID LAUGHING AT THE THUNDER
MAKE IT FEEL LESS SCARY TO YOU?

Pins and Nettie nod. Nettie looks at Pins and smiles. They squeak.

The narrator laughs, then says, WOW, NOW THE TWO OF YOU ARE
PROPER GIGGLE MACHINES.
WAIT A MINUTE.

Pins and Nettie keep squeaking.

The narrator says, PINS, NETTIE, I THINK THE
THUNDER HAS STOPPED, AND THE
RAIN HAD STOPPED, TOO.
LOOK AT THAT, WE LAUGHED THE
STORM AWAY.
SO, NOW THAT IT’S NOT RAINING
AND THUNDERING, WHO WANTS TO GO
OUTSIDE?

Pins and Nettie squeak and jump up and down. They look excited.

The narrator says, LAST ONE OUTSIDE’S A ROTTEN EGG.

Pins and Nettie leave the playroom.
