An animated logo reads: Let’s Go For A Walk

Hamza is reading a book on the porch of a cabin.

Hamza says, HI, I'M RANGER HAMZA. WELCOME TO MY HUT. I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT MINI BEASTS. MINI BEASTS, LIKE WOODLICE AND BEETLES, ARE SOME OF THE WORLD'S BEST RUBBISH COLLECTORS AND, WITHOUT THEM, THE LEAVES WOULD BE PILING UP AND UP AND UP, AND BEFORE LONG, YOU WOULDN'T EVEN SEE MY HUT! I'M GOING ON A WALK WITH THE RAMBLERS TODAY TO A HIDDEN BEACH. TO GET THERE, WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE FOREST, WHERE SPIDERS AND BUGS LIVE. WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME ALONG? COME ON, LET'S GO FOR A WALK.

(Music playing)

Three children and two adults walk through a forest. The children wear orange jackets.

Hamza narrates, THE SUN MAY BE OUT TODAY, BUT IT'S STILL CHILLY, SO THE RAMBLERS HAVE THEIR HATS AND JACKETS ON. JOINING ME TODAY ARE CORA, LAINEY AND CONNOR.

An animated map appears.

Hamza narrates, WE'RE GOING TO MEET UP IN THE FOREST AND THEN FOLLOW A STREAM, ALL THE WAY UNTIL WE FIND THE BEACH. AT THE END, WE CAN COLLECT STICKS AND USE THEM TO DRAW PICTURES IN THE SAND.

Hamza walks and wears a backpack over a red jacket.

Hamza says, I WONDER WHAT WE'LL SEE ALONG THE WAY. HI, RAMBLERS!

The children cry, HI!

Hamza asks, YOU READY TO GO EXPLORE?

The children shout, YEAH!

Hamza says, COME ON, THEN. LET'S SAY BYE.

The children wave and say, BYE!

The two adults wave.

Hamza says, SEE YOU SOON! WHAT DO YOU THINK WE'LL SEE ON OUR WALK TODAY?

Lainey wears a yellow hat.

Lainey says, ER, MAGPIE.

Hamza says, YEAH.

Cora wears a white and grey hat with ears.

Cora says, RABBITS AND RED SQUIRRELS.

Hamza says, OKAY.

Lainey says, DUCKS.

Hamza asks, DUCKS? HOW MANY?

Cora says, 55 MILLION.

Hamza says, NO WAY! MAGPIES, SQUIRRELS, AND LOTS AND LOTS OF DUCKS? SOUNDS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT WALK TODAY! WHAT WILL WE SPOT FIRST IN THE FOREST? WHAT'S THAT?

Cora says, A TREE STUMP.

Connor wears a blue and green hat.

Connor says, I WANT TO STAND ON THAT. LOOK, LOOK.

Lainey says, IT'S LIKE A WEE STAGE.

(Giggling)

An animated red curtain appears on a tree stump. The curtains open to reveal a ladybug.

Hamza says, TA-DA!

(Audience applauding)

Hamza says, WHY DON'T YOU KEEP YOUR EYES OUT FOR MORE TREE STUMPS ON OUR WALK TODAY? AND AT THE END, WE'LL SEE HOW MANY YOU SPOTTED.

(Music playing)

Connor crouches down.

Hamza says, NOW, CONNOR'S FOUND SOMETHING ELSE ON THE FOREST FLOOR.

The children say, PINE NEEDLES.

Hamza says, YEAH.

Cora has blonde hair in a ponytail.

Cora says, SQUIRRELS EAT THIS.

Hamza says, A PINECONE! THE SQUIRRELS LOVE THE SEEDS INSIDE IT. WHO DO YOU THINK LIVES IN ALL THIS LEAF LITTER?

Lainey says, BUGS.

Hamza says, YEAH, BUGS. WHEN IT'S AUTUMN AND THE LEAVES ALL FALL DOWN, THE BUGS AND THE INSECTS EAT ALL THESE LEAVES AND THEY TURN IT INTO COMPOST.

Cora asks, THE COMPOST IS ACTUALLY JUST BUGS' POO?

Hamza narrates, NOT QUITE. THE BUGS' POO GETS MIXED IN WITH THE OLD LEAVES TO MAKE COMPOST.

Hamza holds a handful of dried leaves and pine needles.

Hamza says, SO, THE BUGS EAT ALL THIS GOOD STUFF HERE AND THEY TURN IT BACK INTO NUTRITION FOR THE TREES.

Animated bugs appear on a pile of leaves.

(Bugs munching)

A child narrates, HELLO, BUGS. ENJOY YOUR LUNCH!

Lainey says, WAIT, LOOK! LOOK, THERE'S TWO TREES HERE.

Hamza says, THEY START OFF AS ONE TREE, DON'T THEY?

Lainey says, YEAH.

Hamza says, YEAH? BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT GOES UP?

The children say, IT GOES INTO TWO TREES.

Hamza agrees, YEAH!

Lainey says, BUT I THINK THEY'RE SISTERS OR FAMILY.

Hamza says, A FAMILY TREE?

(Music playing)

Hamza and the children walk through the forest.

Hamza narrates, LET'S KEEP GOING, RAMBLERS. THERE'S LOTS MORE TREES TO SEE IN THE FOREST.

Connor says, LOOK, A STUMP ON THE TREE! LOOK! THE THUNDER COULD HAVE STRUCK IT DOWN, AND THEN THE WIND COULD HAVE BLOWN IT AWAY.

Lainey says, A BRANCH FELL OFF, MAYBE.

Cora says, OR MAYBE IT GOT CHOPPED OFF BY AN AXE.

Hamza says, IT LOOKS LIKE A TREE STUMP, BUT THAT'S WHERE A BRANCH HAS BEEN CHOPPED OFF. AND IT'S NOT JUST TREES HERE. THERE'S SO MUCH MORE TO SEE.

(Music playing)

Lainey runs to a boulder.

Lainey says, THERE! A STONE.

Hamza says, IT'S TALLER THAN YOU, CORA!

Cora says, I'VE FOUND A TINY LITTLE BUG.

Hamza takes off his backpack.

Hamza says, RIGHT, I'VE GOT SOMETHING FOR YOU GUYS TO USE TO LOOK CLOSELY. CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS?

Cora says, MAGNIFYING GLASS.

Hamza says, YEAH! ONE FOR YOU, AND THEN ONE FOR YOU, CONNOR. THERE YOU GO.

Cora says, LOOK.

A magnifying glass is held over a red bug.

Hamza says, LET'S HAVE A LOOK AT THAT IN THE MAGNIFYING GLASS. VERY WELL SPOTTED!

Connor says, I'VE SEEN ONE OF THEM BEFORE.

Hamza asks, WHAT IS IT?

Lainey says, A LADYBUG.

Hamza says, YEAH! YOU CAN CALL IT A LADYBIRD, AS WELL.

Lainey asks, WHAT IS ALL THIS WHITE STUFF?

Hamza says, ALL THIS WHITE STUFF IS CALLED LICHEN, AND LICHEN GROWS IN PLACES WHERE THE AIR IS REALLY FRESH AND CLEAN. EVEN THE LADYBIRD IS ENJOYING A WALK IN THE FRESH, CLEAN AIR OF THE FOREST.

(Music playing)

Cora says, THE TREES ARE STANDING UP REALLY STRAIGHT. THE SUN IS SHINING THROUGH THE LEAVES.

The children look at a moss-covered stump.

Hamza narrates, OH, LOOK, WE FOUND THE STREAM!

Connor says, THERE USED TO BE A BRIDGE THERE. LOOK, THERE'S TWO STONES. THERE'S TWO STONES.

An animated yellow line is drawn over the stream.

Hamza asks, CAN YOU SEE THE TWO SUPPORTS THAT HELD UP THE BRIDGE?

Hamza looks at the children.

Hamza says, SO, WE NEED TO GO TO THE BEACH. AND WHERE DO YOU THINK THE BEACH IS?

Lainey says, OVER THERE. IF YOU FOLLOW THIS, IT WILL LEAD YOU TO THE BEACH.

Hamza says, THAT'S RIGHT, LAINEY. THE WATER FLOWS DOWNHILL, UNTIL WE REACH THE LOCH AT THE BEACH. SO, THE STREAM WILL SHOW US THE WAY. BUT WAIT A MINUTE, SOMEONE ELSE HAS JOINED US AT THE STREAM.

A pigeon drinks from the water.

Cora says, DRINKING.

Hamza says, DRINKING, HOW IS IT DRINKING?

The children bend over and mime drinking with a beak.

(Bird cooing)

The bird flies off.

Cora says, IT'S FLEW AWAY.

Hamza narrates, BYE! TIME FOR US TO GO, TOO. LET'S FOLLOW THE STREAM AND SEE IF WE CAN FIND A SAFE PLACE TO CROSS.

(Music playing)

Hamza says, PERFECT! WE'VE FOUND ANOTHER BRIDGE AND THIS ONE IS STILL STANDING. AND WHAT'S THE BRIDGE MADE FROM?

Cora says, STONE!

Hamza says, STONE. LET'S HAVE A LOOK AT THIS BRIDGE, OKAY?

The children look at a stone crossing.

Hamza narrates, THE RAMBLERS ARE TRYING TO GUESS WHO MADE THE BRIDGE.

Lainey says, ERM...

Connor says, YOU.

Lainey says, BUILDERS!

Hamza says, BUILDERS? ME?! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO BUILD BRIDGES!

(Giggling)

Hamza asks, WHAT ARE BRIDGES NORMALLY MADE FROM?

Lainey says, ER, WOOD.

Hamza says, WOOD, YES.

Connor says, WOOD AND STONE.

Hamza asks, STONE?

Cora says, WATER.

(Giggling)

Hamza says, THEY'RE NOT MADE FROM WATER! THEY'RE MADE TO CROSS WATER.

(Music playing)

Hamza narrates, ACROSS THIS WATER, SOMETHING ELSE HAS CAUGHT THE RAMBLERS' EYE.

Cora shouts, DRAGON TREE!

The children walk to a twisted and dead tree trunk.

Hamza says, AH, THE DRAGON TREE! WHY ARE THEY CALLING IT A DRAGON TREE?

Cora says, IT'S GOT A HORN.

Hamza says, AH, YES, I SEE IT!

Connor asks, ARE YOU A FIRE-BREATHING DRAGON?

An animated dragon appears over the tree and breathes fire.

Lainey says, AND YOU CAN CLIMB ON IT, IF YOU WANT.

Hamza says, OKAY, LET ME GIVE YOU A HAND, SHALL I? ONE, TWO, THREE... CHOO!

Hamza helps Lainey jump from a log. Cora jumps.

Hamza says, ONE, TWO, THREE... CHOO! READY? ONE, TWO, THREE... TOP MAN!

Connor jumps down.

Connor narrates, BYE, DRAGON TREE.

(Music playing)

The animated map shows footprints moving over a path.

Hamza narrates, WE'RE HALFWAY ON OUR WALK TO THE BEACH, WHERE WE CAN DRAW PICTURES IN THE SAND. ALREADY, WE'VE FOUND A TREE, WITH TWO TRUNKS, THAT THE RAMBLERS SAID LOOKED LIKE SISTERS. THEN WE DISCOVERED A ROCK THAT WAS TALLER THAN THE RAMBLERS! WE COPIED A PIGEON DRINKING WATER AT THE STREAM. WE CROSSED OVER AND CLIMBED THE DRAGON TREE. REMEMBER TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MORE TREE STUMPS ON OUR WALK TODAY. I'M SURE WE'LL MAKE IT TO THE BEACH VERY SOON. TO GET THERE, I THINK WE NEED TO CROSS BACK OVER THE STREAM.

Hamza and the children walk to a wooden bridge.

Cora says, LOOK, THERE IS A BRIDGE THAT WE CAN CROSS.

Hamza says, YAY, WE'VE FOUND A BRIDGE! WOW, LOOK! EVEN THE STREAM GOT BIGGER! WE MUST BE GETTING CLOSER TO THE BEACH.

(Thudding)

Hamza narrates, THIS BRIDGE SOUNDS DIFFERENT FROM THE STONE ONE WE CROSSED.

Hamza stomps on the bridge.

Hamza says, STOMP, STOMP, STOMP, STOMP! THAT'S BECAUSE THIS ONE IS MADE OUT OF WOOD. ONE, TWO, THREE, GO!

The children hop across the bridge.

Hamza singing, WE'RE NEARLY AT THE BEACH. WE'RE NEARLY AT THE BEACH!

Hamza says, I THINK IT'S THIS WAY.

The children say, WE MADE IT TO THE BEACH! LOOK, IT'S THE BEACH! WE MADE IT!

A small sandy beach is on the edge of a wide body of water.

Hamza cries, WHOO!

Cora says, A BEACH!

(Music playing)

Mountains are in the distance. Ducks glide over sunlit water.

Cora narrates, IT'S SO COLD ON THE MOUNTAINS, THE RAIN TURNS INTO SNOW. THE WATER IS ALL GLITTERY.

Hamza says, ONE MINUTE, WE WERE IN THE FOREST AND THE NEXT MINUTE, WE'RE OUT ON THE BEACH!

Cora says, THE SAND LOOKS LIKE TWINKLY STARS.

Hamza says, CORA’S GOT A GOOD GAME FOR THE SAND.

Cora picks up a handful of sand.

Cora says, AND YOU MOULD IT, LIKE THIS.

Hamza says, UH-HUH.

Cora says, AND THEN, YOU KEEP IT IN ONE HAND, AND THEN... FIRE!

Cora throws the sand in the water.

Hamza says, LOOK AT THE LOVELY PATTERN IT MAKES!

Cora says, LET'S DO IT ALL AT THE SAME TIME. FIVE...

Hamza says, FOUR...

All say, THREE... TWO... ONE...

Lainey says, SPLAT!

(Laughing)

Connor says, IT MADE LOADS OF PATTERNS!

Hamza narrates, THE RAMBLERS ARE PRETENDING TO BE A GIANT SAND SNAKE, TRYING TO CATCH ME FOR LUNCH. YOU CAN'T CATCH ME, RAMBLERS!

The children chase Hamza over the sand.

(All giggling)

Lainey shouts, GOT YOU!

Hamza says, OH, YOU GOT ME! NOW, IT'S CONNOR'S TURN TO BE CHASED.

(Giggling)

Ducks swim over the water.

Hamza narrates, CAN YOU SEE THE DUCKS? AND THIS DOG? THE RAMBLERS THINK THAT THIS TREE LOOKS LIKE AN ANIMAL TOO.

A large tree has roots going into the sand.

Connor says, SPIDER TREE. IT LOOKS LIKE A SPINDLY SPIDER.

An animated black spider appears over the tree roots.

Hamza asks, WHAT ARE ALL THESE THINGS, COMING OUT HERE?

Lainey says, THE ROOTS.

Hamza asks, BUT THEN, DO WE NORMALLY GET TO SEE THE ROOTS?

All say, NO.

Cora says, BECAUSE IT'S FALLING OVER.

Hamza says, TREES DON'T NORMALLY LIKE TO GROW BY THE SEASIDE BECAUSE OF THE SALTWATER, BUT THIS IS FRESHWATER. THE TREES LOVE TO DRINK IT UP THROUGH THEIR ROOTS.

(Music playing)

Connor says, BYE, SPIDER TREE.

Cora says, THE ROOTS LOOK LIKE SPAGHETTI.

The children walk over the sand.

Hamza says, HERE WE ARE, WE'VE MADE IT TO THE PERFECT SPOT TO MAKE OUR DRAWINGS IN THE SAND.

Lainey says, I WANT TO MAKE A DRAGON.

Hamza narrates, FIRST, WE NEED TO COLLECT SOME STICKS TO DRAW WITH AND PINECONES TO USE IN THE PICTURE.

The children look around trees.

Hamza says, FOUND ANOTHER ONE.

Lainey says, I FOUND A STICK.

Hamza says, YOU FOUND A STICK? PERFECT.

Cora says, WE'RE USING THE LEAVES.

Hamza says, AND I GOT THIS. DID YOU ENJOY YOUR WALK?

The children say, YES.

The map appears.

Hamza narrates, CAN YOU REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TODAY? WE FOUND SOME INTERESTING TREES.

Hamza narrates, THEN WE DISCOVERED A ROCK THAT WAS TALLER THAN THE RAMBLERS. WE COPIED A PIGEON DRINKING AT THE STREAM.

(Cooing)

Hamza narrates, WE CROSSED OVER AND FOUND SOMETHING FUN TO CLIMB ON.

The children say, DRAGON TREE!

Hamza says, AH, THE DRAGON TREE! THEN, WE CROSSED BACK OVER THE STREAM AGAIN.

Cora says, LOOK, THAT IS A BRIDGE THAT WE CAN CROSS.

Hamza says, YAY, WE FOUND A BRIDGE!

(Music playing)

Hamza narrates, ON THE BEACH, WE THREW SAND TO MAKE PATTERNS IN THE WATER...

Cora says, THREE...

All say, TWO... ONE...

Cora says, SPLAT!

Hamza narrates, ...AND FOUND ONE LAST TREE.

Connor says, SPIDER TREE.

Hamza narrates, AND NOW, WE'VE MADE IT TO THE PLACE WHERE WE CAN DRAW IN THE SAND.

Hamza sits on the beach.

Hamza asks, REMEMBER I ASKED YOU TO LOOK OUT FOR TREE STUMPS ON OUR WALK TODAY? HOW MANY DID YOU SPOT? DID YOU SPOT THESE ONES?

(Music playing)

Tree stumps are in the forest.

Hamza says, WELL, I HOPE YOU ENJOYED OUR WALK TODAY. WE CERTAINLY DID. NEXT TIME, YOU GO FOR A WALK, WHY DON'T YOU KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS OPEN? YOU CAN HAVE AN ADVENTURE, TOO!

Hamza and the children wave.

All say, BYE!

Hamza says, COME ON, THEN, LET'S DRAW THIS DRAGON.

Cora says, OKAY.

Cora uses a stick to draw in the sand.

Hamza says, I'VE GOT THE HEAD HERE.

Cora says, LOOK, I MADE THE HEAD.

Hamza says, AND THIS... YOU WANT TO FINISH THIS, RIGHT? SO, LET'S DRAW THE BIG MOUTH. WHERE COULD THIS BIT GO?

Cora says, IT HAS TO GO IN THE EYES.
