AND OVER THE REEF.
THERE'S A SUNNY LITTLE PLACE
CALLED KANGAROO BEACH.

The singer sings, FRIZZY, GEMMA,
NEVILLE AND POUNCE.
Frizzy, a koala with blue fur, balances sunglasses on her head. Gemma, a platypus, wears goggles strapped over her head. Neville, a wombat, wears a bucket hat. Pounce, a kangaroo, hops over his friends and down a slide. All the friends wear a red and blue uniform.
The singer and others sing, CADETS IN THE CLUB,
SO COME ON, LET'S BOUNCE.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville follow Pounce down the slide.
The singer sings, GOOD FRIENDS SURFIN'
SWIMMIN', LEARNIN’
Pounce surfs down the slide. Gemma slides down on her stomach. Fizzy follows with her hands in the air. Neville spins down the slide.
He screams, AAH!
Outside, on the Kangaroo Beach dock, he blows a whistle and points to the water.
[Whistle blaring]
The singer sings, BONDI, SANDY,
BIG TREV TOO.
Bondi and Sandy, kangaroos, speed across the water on a boat. Underwater, Frizzy travels in a submarine with Big Trev, a bearded koala with green fur.
The singer sings, TRAININ' WITH THE VERY BEST
LIFEGUARD CREW.
STAYIN' SAFE, BEING BRAVE,
RIDE A WAVE, MAKE A SAVE.
Gemma rides in a helicopter. Pounce rides in a boat with Bondi. The life guards and junior cadets return to the beach. The cadets surf a big wave.
The singer sings, WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER,
IT JUST GETS FUNNER.
LET'S HOP DOWN TO...
A large wave crashes into the lifeguards and cadets on the beach.
The singer sings, …KANGAROO BEACH!
Title, Kangaroo Beach. A splash of water reveals the episode title on the beach.
Pounce reads, POUNCE ON PATROL.
Text reads, Written by Tim Bain. A wave splashes over the episode title and reveals Pounce struggling in the water.
[Pounce grunting]
Pounce yells, HELP!
On the beach, Frizzy lowers her binoculars. She blows a whistle.
[Whistle blaring]
Neville and Gemma stand beside Frizzy with Sandy.
Frizzy yells, SWIMMER'S IN DISTRESS!
Sandy says, WELL SPOTTED, FRIZZY.
OKAY, CADETS.
WHAT DO WE DO NOW?
Frizzy says, PLAY THE RESCUE MUSIC!
Neville says, PANIC!
Gemma says, JUMP IN AND SAVE HIM?
Sandy stops Gemma from running into the water.
Sandy says, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!
A-PLUS FOR ENTHUSIASM THERE, BUT
I'VE GOT A BETTER IDEA.
IF THERE'S A LIFEGUARD NEARBY,
ALERT THEM TO THE DANGER.
Gemma nods.
She calls out, HEY, BONDI!
SWIMMER IN DISTRESS!
Bondi hops over to the group with a rescue board.
He says, ROO TO THE RESCUE.
He jumps in the water on his board and paddles over the ocean’s waves. In the distance, Pounce waves his arms frantically.
He yells, HURRY!
HELP!
On the beach, Neville says, I CAN'T WATCH!
Frizzy says, THIS IS A PRETEND RESCUE,
NEVILLE.
Neville says, OH, YEAH!
He looks relieved.
In the water, Pounce says, HURRY!
Bondi paddles up to Pounce.
Bondi says, HOP ON, BUDDY, AND HANG
TIGHT.
Pounce lies on the rescue board as Bondi paddles back to shore. Bondi hops onto the beach with Pounce, and sticks the board in the sand.
[Bondi grunting]
Bondi lies Pounce on the ground.
Sandy says, STEP ASIDE, THANKS, MUSCLES.
YOU GOT A MEDIC COMING THROUGH.
Sandy kneels beside Pounce and checks his pulse.
Sandy says, HE'S OKAY!
Pounce sits up and smiles.
Sandy says, GIVE ME SOME PAW!
Gemma, Neville and Frizzy high-five Sandy.
Gemma says, SO GOOD!
[Neville giggling]
Frizzy cheers, WHOO-HOO!
The junior cadets shout over each other.
One says, THAT WAS AWESOME!
Another says, THAT WAS AMAZING!
A third says, ALL RIGHT!
[Bondi chuckling]
Bondi flexes his muscles.
Sandy says, YEAH, SOMEONE GIVE THIS GUY A
MEDAL.
Pounce cheers, THAT WAS AWESOME, BONDI!
He high-fives Bondi.
Bondi says, JUST DOING MY JOB.
WHEN YOU WEAR THIS CAP, IT'S
YOUR DUTY TO KEEP THE BEACH
SAFE.
He holds his lifeguard hat.
Bondi continues, IN FACT, YOU WERE SUCH A GREAT
RESCUE DUMMY, YOU CAN HAVE THIS
FOR TODAY.
He puts the hat on Pounce.
Pounce says, AWW, THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY
OF MY LIFE!
[Bell ringing]
[Speaker feedback screeching]
The lifeguards and junior cadets turn toward the sound.
A voice on a speaker says, THIS IS
GALADA BAY SURF PATROL.
A PAIR OF HUMPBACK WHALES HAVE
BEEN SPOTTED SWIMMING SOUTH.
Bondi says, WELL, THAT'S THIS WAY.
BETTER MAKE SURE THE BIG FELLAS
DON'T GET BEACHED.
He hops onto a jet ski.
One of the cadets says, SO COOL!
The cadets sound impressed. Bondi races into the water.
On the beach, Gemma says, THIS IS AMAZING!
Pounce says, YEAH, I'M A REAL-LIFE
LIFEGUARD.
Gemma says, NO.
NOW, I CAN GET A PHOTO OF ME
WITH MY FAVOURITE MARINE ANIMAL,
A HUMPBACK WHALE.
THIS IS MY CHANCE!
HERE, NEVILLE.
She hands Neville her phone.
Gemma says, YOU CAN TAKE THE PICTURE.
Neville says, GEE, THANKS, GEMMA.
Frizzy says, LET'S GO FIND US SOME WHALES!
She starts to leave with Gemma and Neville. Pounce looks out on the water. Frizzy returns.
She asks, COMING, POUNCE?
Pounce says, NOT TODAY, KIDS.
I'M ON PATROL.
He looks out on the water with a determined expression. Elsewhere on the beach, he throws open the door of a small changing room.
[Exciting music plays]
Pounce talks into a juice box as if it were a radio.
He says, THIS IS CHIEF LIFEGUARD POUNCE
REPORTING FOR DUTY.
Pounce jumps out of the changing room.
He says, DON'T WORRY, BONDI.
I'LL KEEP THE BEACH SAFE WHILE
YOU'RE AWAY.
Pounce adjusts his lifeguard hat and looks across the beach.
He says, MORE SUNSCREEN, PLEASE, MA'AM,
AND DON'T FORGET YOUR NOSE!
He points to a beachgoer holding a tube of sunscreen. Pounce looks to his right.
An otter says, OH, AH, OOH, OH, HOT, HOT!
He walks across the sand.
Pounce says, SLAP ON SOME THONGS, THANKS,
MATE.
THAT SAND IS HOT.
The otter says, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT!
He continues walking. Pounce hops over to a food truck where a bird with blue feathers prepares an ice cream cone.
Pounce says, DON'T MAKE THAT TOO COLD.
SOMEONE COULD GET AN ICE CREAM
HEADACHE.
He leaves the truck.
The bird says, YES, SIR.
[Bird laughing]
Elsewhere on the beach, Gemma stands in front of the ocean’s rolling waves.
She says, WHEN THE WHALES SWIM PAST,
TAKE THE PHOTO.
ARE THEY THERE YET?
Neville says, I DON'T THINK SO.
He aims Gemma’s phone in her direction.
Gemma asks, HOW ABOUT NOW?
Neville says, NO.
Gemma asks, NOW?
Neville says, OH, YES!
QUICK, SMILE!
Gemma smiles and gestures toward the water. Neville takes a picture.
[Camera snapping]
Neville looks at the phone.
He says, WOW, IT'S HUGE!
Gemma says, AWESOME.
SHOW ME!
Neville shows Gemma the picture, that shows her pointing toward a blob.
Gemma says, THAT'S YOUR THUMB, NEVILLE.
[Gemma sighing]
Gemma says, GO AGAIN.
[Whistle blaring]
Pounce blows his whistle. He joins Neville and Gemma.
Pounce asks, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
Gemma says, I'M TRYING TO GET A WHALE
PHOTO.
Pounce says, WELL, DO IT BETWEEN THE
FLAGS, PLEASE, KIDS.
Neville says, WE'D BETTER DO WHAT HE SAYS,
GEMMA.
HE'S THE CHIEF LIFEGUARD.
Gemma says, BUT WE'RE NOT EVEN IN THE
WATER.
YOU'RE SCARING AWAY MY WHALES,
POUNCE!
She looks annoyed. Pounce looks past Gemma.
He says, STOP, YOUNGSTER.
THAT GIANT SANDCASTLE IS
DANGEROUS!
Further on the beach, a small white and pink bird stands beside a small sandcastle. The bird looks disappointed.
They sadly say, OH.
Gemma poses in front of the ocean once more.
Frizzy says, NO WHALE?
NO PROBLEM.
She joins Gemma with a giant, inflatable, purple whale.
Gemma says, AW, THANKS, FRIZZY, BUT REAL
HUMPBACK WHALES ARE BIGGER THAN
THAT.
ALSO NOT PURPLE.
Frizzy says, NO ONE WILL KNOW THE
DIFFERENCE.
She adjusts her hold on the inflatable whale.
[Frizzy grunting]
Frizzy says, TRUST ME.
Neville aims Gemma’s phone toward the water.
Pounce calls out, HEY!
He joins his friends.
He says, STOP.
NO MUCKING ABOUT ON THE ROCKS.
Frizzy says, JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE WEARING
A HAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU CHIEF
LIFEGUARD.
Pounce says, DOES SO.
He tries to take the inflatable whale from Frizzy.
Frizzy says, DOES NOT.
She pulls on the inflatable whale.
Pounce says, DOES SO!
Neville runs around the inflatable whale.
He says, WAIT!
Pounce says, DOES NOT!
Neville says, STOP!
BE CAREFUL OR SOMEONE WILL –
The giant inflatable whale swings toward Neville.
Neville yells, WHOA!
The whale slips out of Frizzy and Pounce’s hands. It knocks Neville off the rocks and into the water.
[Water splashing]
Gemma, frizzy and Pounce look worried.
Pounce says, HOLD TIGHT, NEVILLE!
In the water, Neville clings to the inflatable whale.
{Neville whimpering]
Neville’s grip on the inflatable whale slips.
Pounce warns, UH, NOT TOO TIGHT!
[Neville whimpering]
The inflatable whale pops and flies out of Neville’s hands.
[Popping]
The inflatable whale files over Gemma, Frizzy and Pounce.
[Air blowing]
The inflatable whale flies past Big Trev. Big Trev’s eyes widen.
[Big Trev gasping]
Big Trev says, HUH?
OH, UH, PARDON ME.
[Big Trev clearing his throat]
In the water, Neville struggles to stay afloat.
[Neville whimpering]
Neville says, HELP!
I'M CAUGHT IN A RIP!
[Whistle blaring]
Frizzy blows her whistle. On either side of her, Gemma and Pounce look worried.
Frizzy says, SOMEONE GET A LIFEGUARD!
Pounce says, OH, THAT'S ME.
ROO TO THE RESCUE!
He dives into the water.
Frizzy says, BUT POUNCE, YOU'RE NOT A REAL
LIFEGUARD!
Neville says, AH, HELP!
Pounce swims up to Neville. Pounce grabs his friend.
He says, HEY, STOP STRUGGLING!
Neville wails, HELP!
A wave lifts Pounce and Neville.
They both yell, WHOA!
Pounce says, THIS RIP IS STRONG!
Water splashes around the two friends as they paddle in the water.
[Neville whimpering]
[Gemma gasping]
Gemma says, OH, WE'D BETTER GET HELP.
She and Frizzy run back to the beach.
Gemma yells, SANDY!
Frizzy says, SWIMMER IN DISTRESS!
Sandy LOOKS OUT ON THE WATER.
She says, GREAT JOB ALERTING ME, GIRLS.
I'M ON IT LIKE A SEAGULL ON A
CHIP.
Sandy jumps on her rescue board and paddles out on the water.
She says, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!
STAY CALM AND FLOAT ON YOUR
BACKS!
Neville and Pounce float on their backs.
[Neville and Pounce whimpering]
Sandy reaches the two junior cadets. They grab hold of Sandy’s board.
Sandy says, AH-OOP!
Neville and Pounce pull themselves onto Sandy’s board.
Sandy says, GOT YOU.
On the beach, Sandy looks at Pounce with a stern expression. Pounce looks embarrassed. Bondi returns and joins them.
He says, NO SIGN OF WHALES.
WHAT DID I MISS?
Sandy says, AH, NOT MUCH.
POUNCE JUMPED IN TO RESCUE
NEVILLE AND GOT CAUGHT IN THE
RIP AS WELL.
Pounce says, I WAS JUST TRYING TO BE A
GREAT LIFEGUARD, LIKE BONDI.
Bondi says, REALLY?
NICE ONE.
Sandy frowns at Bondi.
Bondi says, I, I MEAN, UH, NICE TRY, BUT IF
THERE'S A LIFEGUARD NEARBY,
ALERT THEM TO THE DANGER.
GOT IT?
Pounce says, MM-HMM.
He nods.
Bondi says, SORRY, CHAMP.
He takes his lifeguard hat off Pounce.
Bondi says, LET'S SAVE THIS FOR ANOTHER DAY.
Pounce looks disappointed.
He says, AW.
Elsewhere on the beach, Pounce looks at his reflection in a small pool of water.
He says, I'LL NEVER BE A REAL-LIFE
LIFEGUARD.
Neville says, YES, YOU WILL, POUNCE.
Pounce looks at Neville excitedly. Beside him, Gemma looks at her phone.
Neville continues, ONE
DAY, YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS
FROM NOW.
Pounce looks back at his reflection sadly. Gemma frowns.
She says, AW, AND THE WHALE IN MY PHOTO
LOOKS TOTALLY FAKE.
Gemma shows Neville a picture of herself standing beside Frizzy’s inflatable purple whale. Gemma looks up from her phone.
[Gemma gasping]
Gemma says, BUT THAT ONE DOESN'T!
She points to the ocean, where a whale breaks through the surface, then crashes back into the water.
[Water splashing]
Gemma says, WOW!
QUICK, NEVILLE.
She tosses Neville into a dinghy and jumps in after him.
She says, LET'S GO!
Pounce looks uncertain.
He says, UH, WAIT.
THAT'S WAY TOO DANGEROUS!
Gemma says, WE'LL BE FINE!
She paddles out across the water.
She says, WAIT FOR US, WHALES!
Pounce looks worried.
He says, UH...
In the ocean, a whale glides through the water. A young whale follows.
[Whale singing]
The whale says, COME ON, KEVIN.
KEEP SWIMMING.
Kevin, the young whale, says, MOM, HOW LONG 'TIL WE GET TO
ANTARCTICA?
On the water’s surface, Neville says, WOW.
Kevin’s mom pokes out of the water. Water sprays out from her blowhole.
Gemma says, BEAUTIFUL.
Neville says, SO MAJESTIC.
[Whale singing]
Kevin glides through water beside his mom. Water sprays from his blowhole .
Gemma says, I WONDER WHAT THEY'RE SAYING.
Underwater, Kevin groans, I'M HUNGRY!
I'M HUNGRY!
I'M HUNGRY!
His mom says, OH, FINE.
WE'LL STOP AND PICK UP SOME
SEAFOOD.
FOLLOW ME.
She dives deep into the water. Kevin follows. Bubbles follow them into the deep, dark water. The bubbles form a swirl as the whales swim in a spiral. The bubbles pop as they rise to the surface. Gemma and Neville watch the bubbles pop around the dinghy. The dinghy slowly turns with the swirling bubbles.
Gemma says, AMAZING!
THEY'RE MAKING A BUBBLE NET.
She films the bubble net with her phone.
She adds, THAT'S HOW THEY CATCH FISH.
Neville says, THAT'S GREAT, BUT I THINK
THEY'RE ABOUT TO CATCH US!
The swirl of bubbles speeds up. The dinghy moves with the swirl. An ariel view shows Kevin and his mom in the water.
Neville wails, AH!
On the beach, Pounce looks worried.
Neville yells, HELP!
Pounce says, I'LL SAVE YOU!
He prepares to jump in the water, but hesitates.
An echo of Bondi’s voice says, BUT IF THERE'S A
LIFEGUARD NEARBY, ALERT THEM TO
THE DANGER.
Pounce says, UH...
He nods confidently. He turns back toward the beach.
[Pounce panting]
At the lifeguard headquarters, Bondi looks through binoculars.
Pounce says, BONDI!
Bondi quickly turns around to face Pounce.
Pounce says, NEVILLE, GEMMA…
[Pounce panting]
Pounce continues, …IN THE WATER WITH THE WHALES!
Bondi says, OH, JUMPING JOEYS!
He joins Sandy and Big Trev in front of a large monitor.
Bondi says, WE'VE GOT TWO KIDS CAUGHT IN A
WHALE-MADE WHIRLPOOL SOMEWHERE
ROUND...
He points to an animated whirlpool on the monitor.
He says, …HERE.
Sandy says, WE'LL TAKE THE SPEEDBOAT.
BIG TREV, AERIAL PATROL.
Big Trev says, COPY, SANDI.
Pounce says, AND POUNCE, YOU BETTER COME,
TOO.
[Pounce sounding amazed]
Bondi says, ROOS TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Motor whirring]
[Energetic music plays]
Pounce cruises through the ocean in the rescue boat with Bondi and Sandy. The trio wear life vests. Sandy talks into her radio.
She says, YOU GOT A VISUAL ON THOSE
WHALES YET, BIG TREV?
In the rescue helicopter, Big Trev says, NOT YET, SANDI.
Pounce says, THIS WAY, JUST PAST THE
POINT.
He points across the water. Sandy turns the boat around.
Pounce says, THERE THEY ARE!
Neville and Gemma’s dinghy turns in the water.
Neville wails, HELP!
Gemma says, SMILE, WHALES.
She holds up her phone as a whale’s tail splashes into the water. Bondi speaks into his radio.
He says, HOLD BACK, TREV.
WE DON'T WANT THE ENGINE SCARING
THE HUMPBACKS.
Through the radio, Big Trev says, ROGER THAT.
Sandy calls out, YOU'RE GOING TO BE FINE,
KIDS!
JUST STAY IN THE BOAT!
Neville says, WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!
One of the whale’s tail flicks out of the water and flips the dinghy.
Gemma and Neville scream, AH!
They splash into the water.
Bondi says, DON'T SWEAT IT!
I'M COMING IN!
He looks at Pounce.
He continues, AND I'LL NEED YOUR HELP, MATE,
TO GUIDE ME FROM UP TOP.
Bondi jumps on a rescue board on the water and paddles over rising waves. Pounce opens a hatch on the boat and scans the water.
He says, GO LEFT!
Bondi paddles into the bubble net swirl behind Gemma and Neville.
Neville wails, AH!
He waves his arms frantically.
Pounce warns, WATCH OUT FOR THAT TAIL!
Bondi dodges one of the whale’s tails as it splashes out of the water.
Pounce calls out, NEVILLE'S ON YOUR RIGHT!
Bondi paddles closer to Neville.
[Neville whimpering]
Bondi grabs hold of Neville’s life vest and pulls him out of the water.
Neville screams, AH!
Bondi says, YOU'RE SAFE.
He places Neville on the rescue board.
He adds, JUST STAY CALM.
Pounce calls, AND HERE COMES GEMMA, BEHIND
YOU ON YOUR LEFT!
Gemma floats with the swirl beside Bondi.
She screams, AH!
Bondi pulls Gemma out of the water and onto the board.
[Gemma sighing]
Bondi says, YOU'RE SAFE.
He paddles through the water. On the rescue boat, Gemma looks disappointed.
She says, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WAS
THINKING, GETTING SO CLOSE TO A
HUMPBACK.
THAT'S 30,000 KILOGRAMS' WORTH
OF WHALE, PLUS A BABY.
Neville says, THANKS FOR SAVING OUR BACON,
BONDI.
Bondi says, PLEASE.
COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT
THIS FELLA.
He pats Pounce’s head.
Sandy says, SO, WHAT DID YOU DO RIGHT
THIS TIME?
Pounce says, I ALERTED YOU TO DANGER
INSTEAD OF JUMPING IN MYSELF?
Bondi says, HUNDRED PERCENT.
WELL DONE, JUNIOR CHIEF
ASSISTANT LIFEGUARD.
He puts his hat on Pounce.
Pounce says, OH, THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY
OF MY LIFE!
Gemma says, I KNOW WHAT WE DID WAS REALLY
SILLY, BUT I'M GLAD I GOT MY
WHALE PIC.
[Cheerful music plays]
She shows Neville her phone that has a blurry yellow image.
Neville says, THAT'S YOUR THUMB.
Gemma looks at her phone.
She cries, NO!
The team returns to Kangaroo Beach.
[Laughing]

[Pounce grunting]
Pounce yells, HELP!
On the beach, Frizzy lowers her binoculars. She blows a whistle.
[Whistle blaring]
Neville and Gemma stand beside Frizzy with Sandy.
Frizzy yells, SWIMMER'S IN DISTRESS!
Sandy says, WELL SPOTTED, FRIZZY.
OKAY, CADETS.
WHAT DO WE DO NOW?
Frizzy says, PLAY THE RESCUE MUSIC!
Neville says, PANIC!
Gemma says, JUMP IN AND SAVE HIM?
Sandy stops Gemma from running into the water.
Sandy says, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!
A-PLUS FOR ENTHUSIASM THERE, BUT
I'VE GOT A BETTER IDEA.
IF THERE'S A LIFEGUARD NEARBY,
ALERT THEM TO THE DANGER.
Gemma nods.
She calls out, HEY, BONDI!
SWIMMER IN DISTRESS!
Bondi hops over to the group with a rescue board.
He says, ROO TO THE RESCUE.
He jumps in the water on his board and paddles over the ocean’s waves. In the distance, Pounce waves his arms frantically.
He yells, HURRY!
HELP!
On the beach, Neville says, I CAN'T WATCH!
Frizzy says, THIS IS A PRETEND RESCUE,
NEVILLE.
Neville says, OH, YEAH!
He looks relieved.
In the water, Pounce says, HURRY!
Bondi paddles up to Pounce.
Bondi says, HOP ON, BUDDY, AND HANG
TIGHT.
Pounce lies on the rescue board as Bondi paddles back to shore. Bondi hops onto the beach with Pounce, and sticks the board in the sand.
[Bondi grunting]
Bondi lies Pounce on the ground.
Sandy says, STEP ASIDE, THANKS, MUSCLES.
YOU GOT A MEDIC COMING THROUGH.
Sandy kneels beside Pounce and checks his pulse.
Sandy says, HE'S OKAY!
Pounce sits up and smiles.
Sandy says, GIVE ME SOME PAW!
Gemma, Neville and Frizzy high-five Sandy.
Gemma says, SO GOOD!
[Neville giggling]
Frizzy cheers, WHOO-HOO!
The junior cadets shout over each other.
One says, THAT WAS AWESOME!
Another says, THAT WAS AMAZING!
A third says, ALL RIGHT!
[Bondi chuckling]
Bondi flexes his muscles.
Sandy says, YEAH, SOMEONE GIVE THIS GUY A
MEDAL.
Pounce cheers, THAT WAS AWESOME, BONDI!
He high-fives Bondi.
Bondi says, JUST DOING MY JOB.
WHEN YOU WEAR THIS CAP, IT'S
YOUR DUTY TO KEEP THE BEACH
SAFE.
He holds his lifeguard hat.
Bondi continues, IN FACT, YOU WERE SUCH A GREAT
RESCUE DUMMY, YOU CAN HAVE THIS
FOR TODAY.
He puts the hat on Pounce.
Pounce says, AWW, THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY
OF MY LIFE!
[Bell ringing]
[Speaker feedback screeching]
The lifeguards and junior cadets turn toward the sound.
A voice on a speaker says, THIS IS
GALADA BAY SURF PATROL.
A PAIR OF HUMPBACK WHALES HAVE
BEEN SPOTTED SWIMMING SOUTH.
Bondi says, WELL, THAT'S THIS WAY.
BETTER MAKE SURE THE BIG FELLAS
DON'T GET BEACHED.
He hops onto a jet ski.
One of the cadets says, SO COOL!
The cadets sound impressed. Bondi races into the water.
On the beach, Gemma says, THIS IS AMAZING!
Pounce says, YEAH, I'M A REAL-LIFE
LIFEGUARD.
Gemma says, NO.
NOW, I CAN GET A PHOTO OF ME
WITH MY FAVOURITE MARINE ANIMAL,
A HUMPBACK WHALE.
THIS IS MY CHANCE!
HERE, NEVILLE.
She hands Neville her phone.
Gemma says, YOU CAN TAKE THE PICTURE.
Neville says, GEE, THANKS, GEMMA.
Frizzy says, LET'S GO FIND US SOME WHALES!
She starts to leave with Gemma and Neville. Pounce looks out on the water. Frizzy returns.
She asks, COMING, POUNCE?
Pounce says, NOT TODAY, KIDS.
I'M ON PATROL.
He looks out on the water with a determined expression. Elsewhere on the beach, he throws open the door of a small changing room.
[Exciting music plays]
Pounce talks into a juice box as if it were a radio.
He says, THIS IS CHIEF LIFEGUARD POUNCE
REPORTING FOR DUTY.
Pounce jumps out of the changing room.
He says, DON'T WORRY, BONDI.
I'LL KEEP THE BEACH SAFE WHILE
YOU'RE AWAY.
Pounce adjusts his lifeguard hat and looks across the beach.
He says, MORE SUNSCREEN, PLEASE, MA'AM,
AND DON'T FORGET YOUR NOSE!
He points to a beachgoer holding a tube of sunscreen. Pounce looks to his right.
An otter says, OH, AH, OOH, OH, HOT, HOT!
He walks across the sand.
Pounce says, SLAP ON SOME THONGS, THANKS,
MATE.
THAT SAND IS HOT.
The otter says, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT!
He continues walking. Pounce hops over to a food truck where a bird with blue feathers prepares an ice cream cone.
Pounce says, DON'T MAKE THAT TOO COLD.
SOMEONE COULD GET AN ICE CREAM
HEADACHE.
He leaves the truck.
The bird says, YES, SIR.
[Bird laughing]
Elsewhere on the beach, Gemma stands in front of the ocean’s rolling waves.
She says, WHEN THE WHALES SWIM PAST,
TAKE THE PHOTO.
ARE THEY THERE YET?
Neville says, I DON'T THINK SO.
He aims Gemma’s phone in her direction.
Gemma asks, HOW ABOUT NOW?
Neville says, NO.
Gemma asks, NOW?
Neville says, OH, YES!
QUICK, SMILE!
Gemma smiles and gestures toward the water. Neville takes a picture.
[Camera snapping]
Neville looks at the phone.
He says, WOW, IT'S HUGE!
Gemma says, AWESOME.
SHOW ME!
Neville shows Gemma the picture, that shows her pointing toward a blob.
Gemma says, THAT'S YOUR THUMB, NEVILLE.
[Gemma sighing]
Gemma says, GO AGAIN.
[Whistle blaring]
Pounce blows his whistle. He joins Neville and Gemma.
Pounce asks, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
Gemma says, I'M TRYING TO GET A WHALE
PHOTO.
Pounce says, WELL, DO IT BETWEEN THE
FLAGS, PLEASE, KIDS.
Neville says, WE'D BETTER DO WHAT HE SAYS,
GEMMA.
HE'S THE CHIEF LIFEGUARD.
Gemma says, BUT WE'RE NOT EVEN IN THE
WATER.
YOU'RE SCARING AWAY MY WHALES,
POUNCE!
She looks annoyed. Pounce looks past Gemma.
He says, STOP, YOUNGSTER.
THAT GIANT SANDCASTLE IS
DANGEROUS!
Further on the beach, a small white and pink bird stands beside a small sandcastle. The bird looks disappointed.
They sadly say, OH.
Gemma poses in front of the ocean once more.
Frizzy says, NO WHALE?
NO PROBLEM.
She joins Gemma with a giant, inflatable, purple whale.
Gemma says, AW, THANKS, FRIZZY, BUT REAL
HUMPBACK WHALES ARE BIGGER THAN
THAT.
ALSO NOT PURPLE.
Frizzy says, NO ONE WILL KNOW THE
DIFFERENCE.
She adjusts her hold on the inflatable whale.
[Frizzy grunting]
Frizzy says, TRUST ME.
Neville aims Gemma’s phone toward the water.
Pounce calls out, HEY!
He joins his friends.
He says, STOP.
NO MUCKING ABOUT ON THE ROCKS.
Frizzy says, JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE WEARING
A HAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU CHIEF
LIFEGUARD.
Pounce says, DOES SO.
He tries to take the inflatable whale from Frizzy.
Frizzy says, DOES NOT.
She pulls on the inflatable whale.
Pounce says, DOES SO!
Neville runs around the inflatable whale.
He says, WAIT!
Pounce says, DOES NOT!
Neville says, STOP!
BE CAREFUL OR SOMEONE WILL –
The giant inflatable whale swings toward Neville.
Neville yells, WHOA!
The whale slips out of Frizzy and Pounce’s hands. It knocks Neville off the rocks and into the water.
[Water splashing]
Gemma, frizzy and Pounce look worried.
Pounce says, HOLD TIGHT, NEVILLE!
In the water, Neville clings to the inflatable whale.
{Neville whimpering]
Neville’s grip on the inflatable whale slips.
Pounce warns, UH, NOT TOO TIGHT!
[Neville whimpering]
The inflatable whale pops and flies out of Neville’s hands.
[Popping]
The inflatable whale files over Gemma, Frizzy and Pounce.
[Air blowing]
The inflatable whale flies past Big Trev. Big Trev’s eyes widen.
[Big Trev gasping]
Big Trev says, HUH?
OH, UH, PARDON ME.
[Big Trev clearing his throat]
In the water, Neville struggles to stay afloat.
[Neville whimpering]
Neville says, HELP!
I'M CAUGHT IN A RIP!
[Whistle blaring]
Frizzy blows her whistle. On either side of her, Gemma and Pounce look worried.
Frizzy says, SOMEONE GET A LIFEGUARD!
Pounce says, OH, THAT'S ME.
ROO TO THE RESCUE!
He dives into the water.
Frizzy says, BUT POUNCE, YOU'RE NOT A REAL
LIFEGUARD!
Neville says, AH, HELP!
Pounce swims up to Neville. Pounce grabs his friend.
He says, HEY, STOP STRUGGLING!
Neville wails, HELP!
A wave lifts Pounce and Neville.
They both yell, WHOA!
Pounce says, THIS RIP IS STRONG!
Water splashes around the two friends as they paddle in the water.
[Neville whimpering]
[Gemma gasping]
Gemma says, OH, WE'D BETTER GET HELP.
She and Frizzy run back to the beach.
Gemma yells, SANDY!
Frizzy says, SWIMMER IN DISTRESS!
Sandy LOOKS OUT ON THE WATER.
She says, GREAT JOB ALERTING ME, GIRLS.
I'M ON IT LIKE A SEAGULL ON A
CHIP.
Sandy jumps on her rescue board and paddles out on the water.
She says, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!
STAY CALM AND FLOAT ON YOUR
BACKS!
Neville and Pounce float on their backs.
[Neville and Pounce whimpering]
Sandy reaches the two junior cadets. They grab hold of Sandy’s board.
Sandy says, AH-OOP!
Neville and Pounce pull themselves onto Sandy’s board.
Sandy says, GOT YOU.
On the beach, Sandy looks at Pounce with a stern expression. Pounce looks embarrassed. Bondi returns and joins them.
He says, NO SIGN OF WHALES.
WHAT DID I MISS?
Sandy says, AH, NOT MUCH.
POUNCE JUMPED IN TO RESCUE
NEVILLE AND GOT CAUGHT IN THE
RIP AS WELL.
Pounce says, I WAS JUST TRYING TO BE A
GREAT LIFEGUARD, LIKE BONDI.
Bondi says, REALLY?
NICE ONE.
Sandy frowns at Bondi.
Bondi says, I, I MEAN, UH, NICE TRY, BUT IF
THERE'S A LIFEGUARD NEARBY,
ALERT THEM TO THE DANGER.
GOT IT?
Pounce says, MM-HMM.
He nods.
Bondi says, SORRY, CHAMP.
He takes his lifeguard hat off Pounce.
Bondi says, LET'S SAVE THIS FOR ANOTHER DAY.
Pounce looks disappointed.
He says, AW.
Elsewhere on the beach, Pounce looks at his reflection in a small pool of water.
He says, I'LL NEVER BE A REAL-LIFE
LIFEGUARD.
Neville says, YES, YOU WILL, POUNCE.
Pounce looks at Neville excitedly. Beside him, Gemma looks at her phone.
Neville continues, ONE
DAY, YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS
FROM NOW.
Pounce looks back at his reflection sadly. Gemma frowns.
She says, AW, AND THE WHALE IN MY PHOTO
LOOKS TOTALLY FAKE.
Gemma shows Neville a picture of herself standing beside Frizzy’s inflatable purple whale. Gemma looks up from her phone.
[Gemma gasping]
Gemma says, BUT THAT ONE DOESN'T!
She points to the ocean, where a whale breaks through the surface, then crashes back into the water.
[Water splashing]
Gemma says, WOW!
QUICK, NEVILLE.
She tosses Neville into a dinghy and jumps in after him.
She says, LET'S GO!
Pounce looks uncertain.
He says, UH, WAIT.
THAT'S WAY TOO DANGEROUS!
Gemma says, WE'LL BE FINE!
She paddles out across the water.
She says, WAIT FOR US, WHALES!
Pounce looks worried.
He says, UH...
In the ocean, a whale glides through the water. A young whale follows.
[Whale singing]
The whale says, COME ON, KEVIN.
KEEP SWIMMING.
Kevin, the young whale, says, MOM, HOW LONG 'TIL WE GET TO
ANTARCTICA?
On the water’s surface, Neville says, WOW.
Kevin’s mom pokes out of the water. Water sprays out from her blowhole.
Gemma says, BEAUTIFUL.
Neville says, SO MAJESTIC.
[Whale singing]
Kevin glides through water beside his mom. Water sprays from his blowhole .
Gemma says, I WONDER WHAT THEY'RE SAYING.
Underwater, Kevin groans, I'M HUNGRY!
I'M HUNGRY!
I'M HUNGRY!
His mom says, OH, FINE.
WE'LL STOP AND PICK UP SOME
SEAFOOD.
FOLLOW ME.
She dives deep into the water. Kevin follows. Bubbles follow them into the deep, dark water. The bubbles form a swirl as the whales swim in a spiral. The bubbles pop as they rise to the surface. Gemma and Neville watch the bubbles pop around the dinghy. The dinghy slowly turns with the swirling bubbles.
Gemma says, AMAZING!
THEY'RE MAKING A BUBBLE NET.
She films the bubble net with her phone.
She adds, THAT'S HOW THEY CATCH FISH.
Neville says, THAT'S GREAT, BUT I THINK
THEY'RE ABOUT TO CATCH US!
The swirl of bubbles speeds up. The dinghy moves with the swirl. An ariel view shows Kevin and his mom in the water.
Neville wails, AH!
On the beach, Pounce looks worried.
Neville yells, HELP!
Pounce says, I'LL SAVE YOU!
He prepares to jump in the water, but hesitates.
An echo of Bondi’s voice says, BUT IF THERE'S A
LIFEGUARD NEARBY, ALERT THEM TO
THE DANGER.
Pounce says, UH...
He nods confidently. He turns back toward the beach.
[Pounce panting]
At the lifeguard headquarters, Bondi looks through binoculars.
Pounce says, BONDI!
Bondi quickly turns around to face Pounce.
Pounce says, NEVILLE, GEMMA…
[Pounce panting]
Pounce continues, …IN THE WATER WITH THE WHALES!
Bondi says, OH, JUMPING JOEYS!
He joins Sandy and Big Trev in front of a large monitor.
Bondi says, WE'VE GOT TWO KIDS CAUGHT IN A
WHALE-MADE WHIRLPOOL SOMEWHERE
ROUND...
He points to an animated whirlpool on the monitor.
He says, …HERE.
Sandy says, WE'LL TAKE THE SPEEDBOAT.
BIG TREV, AERIAL PATROL.
Big Trev says, COPY, SANDI.
Pounce says, AND POUNCE, YOU BETTER COME,
TOO.
[Pounce sounding amazed]
Bondi says, ROOS TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Motor whirring]
[Energetic music plays]
Pounce cruises through the ocean in the rescue boat with Bondi and Sandy. The trio wear life vests. Sandy talks into her radio.
She says, YOU GOT A VISUAL ON THOSE
WHALES YET, BIG TREV?
In the rescue helicopter, Big Trev says, NOT YET, SANDI.
Pounce says, THIS WAY, JUST PAST THE
POINT.
He points across the water. Sandy turns the boat around.
Pounce says, THERE THEY ARE!
Neville and Gemma’s dinghy turns in the water.
Neville wails, HELP!
Gemma says, SMILE, WHALES.
She holds up her phone as a whale’s tail splashes into the water. Bondi speaks into his radio.
He says, HOLD BACK, TREV.
WE DON'T WANT THE ENGINE SCARING
THE HUMPBACKS.
Through the radio, Big Trev says, ROGER THAT.
Sandy calls out, YOU'RE GOING TO BE FINE,
KIDS!
JUST STAY IN THE BOAT!
Neville says, WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!
One of the whale’s tail flicks out of the water and flips the dinghy.
Gemma and Neville scream, AH!
They splash into the water.
Bondi says, DON'T SWEAT IT!
I'M COMING IN!
He looks at Pounce.
He continues, AND I'LL NEED YOUR HELP, MATE,
TO GUIDE ME FROM UP TOP.
Bondi jumps on a rescue board on the water and paddles over rising waves. Pounce opens a hatch on the boat and scans the water.
He says, GO LEFT!
Bondi paddles into the bubble net swirl behind Gemma and Neville.
Neville wails, AH!
He waves his arms frantically.
Pounce warns, WATCH OUT FOR THAT TAIL!
Bondi dodges one of the whale’s tails as it splashes out of the water.
Pounce calls out, NEVILLE'S ON YOUR RIGHT!
Bondi paddles closer to Neville.
[Neville whimpering]
Bondi grabs hold of Neville’s life vest and pulls him out of the water.
Neville screams, AH!
Bondi says, YOU'RE SAFE.
He places Neville on the rescue board.
He adds, JUST STAY CALM.
Pounce calls, AND HERE COMES GEMMA, BEHIND
YOU ON YOUR LEFT!
Gemma floats with the swirl beside Bondi.
She screams, AH!
Bondi pulls Gemma out of the water and onto the board.
[Gemma sighing]
Bondi says, YOU'RE SAFE.
He paddles through the water. On the rescue boat, Gemma looks disappointed.
She says, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WAS
THINKING, GETTING SO CLOSE TO A
HUMPBACK.
THAT'S 30,000 KILOGRAMS' WORTH
OF WHALE, PLUS A BABY.
Neville says, THANKS FOR SAVING OUR BACON,
BONDI.
Bondi says, PLEASE.
COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT
THIS FELLA.
He pats Pounce’s head.
Sandy says, SO, WHAT DID YOU DO RIGHT
THIS TIME?
Pounce says, I ALERTED YOU TO DANGER
INSTEAD OF JUMPING IN MYSELF?
Bondi says, HUNDRED PERCENT.
WELL DONE, JUNIOR CHIEF
ASSISTANT LIFEGUARD.
He puts his hat on Pounce.
Pounce says, OH, THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY
OF MY LIFE!
Gemma says, I KNOW WHAT WE DID WAS REALLY
SILLY, BUT I'M GLAD I GOT MY
WHALE PIC.
[Cheerful music plays]
She shows Neville her phone that has a blurry yellow image.
Neville says, THAT'S YOUR THUMB.
Gemma looks at her phone.
She cries, NO!
The team returns to Kangaroo Beach.
[Laughing]
[Upbeat music plays]
