AND OVER THE REEF.
THERE'S A SUNNY LITTLE PLACE
CALLED KANGAROO BEACH.

The singer sings, FRIZZY, GEMMA,
NEVILLE AND POUNCE.
Frizzy, a koala with blue fur, balances sunglasses on her head. Gemma, a platypus, wears goggles strapped over her head. Neville, a wombat, wears a bucket hat. Pounce, a kangaroo, hops over his friends and down a slide. All the friends wear a red and blue uniform.
The singer and others sing, CADETS IN THE CLUB,
SO COME ON, LET'S BOUNCE.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville follow Pounce down the slide.
The singer sings, GOOD FRIENDS SURFIN'
SWIMMIN', LEARNIN’
Pounce surfs down the slide. Gemma slides down on her stomach. Fizzy follows with her paws in the air. Neville spins down the slide.
He screams, AAH!
Outside, on the Kangaroo Beach dock, he blows a whistle and points to the water.
[Whistle blaring]
The singer sings, BONDI, SANDY,
BIG TREV TOO.
Bondi and Sandy, kangaroos, speed across the water on a boat with Pounce. Underwater, Frizzy travels in a submarine with Big Trev, a bearded koala with green fur.
The singer sings, TRAININ' WITH THE VERY BEST
LIFEGUARD CREW.
STAYIN' SAFE, BEING BRAVE,
RIDE A WAVE, MAKE A SAVE.
Gemma rides in a helicopter. The lifeguards and junior cadets return to the beach. The cadets surf a big wave.
The singer sings, WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER,
IT JUST GETS FUNNER.
LET'S HOP DOWN TO...
A large wave crashes into the lifeguards and cadets on the beach.
The singer sings, …KANGAROO BEACH!

Pounce reads, HEATWAVE.

[Bright music plays]
In front of the large wall monitor, Bondi and Sandy face the four junior cadets.
Sandy says, OKAY, CADETS, TODAY IS GOING
TO BE A SCORCHER, SO WE NEED TO
TEACH YOU HOW TO IDENTIFY
HEATSTROKE.
HANDS UP - WHO KNOWS WHAT
HEATSTROKE IS?
Frizzy raises her hand.
She says, UH, IS HEATSTROKE LIKE
BREASTSTROKE?
Neville asks, IS IT WHEN YOUR BODY GETS TOO
HOT?
Sandy says, EXACTLY, NEVILLE.
HEATSTROKE IS A SICKNESS.
IT'S CAUSED BY GETTING TOO HOT.
Pounce confidently says, OH, KANGAROOS NEVER GET TOO
HOT.
Sandy says, HMM, YOU'D BE SURPRISED.
HEATSTROKE CAN REALLY SNEAK UP
ON YOU.
Gemma asks, WHAT DOES HEATSTROKE FEEL
LIKE?
Sandy says, WELL, YOU MIGHT HAVE A
HEADACHE OR FEEL DIZZY, OR YOU
MIGHT FEEL YOUR HEART BEATING
REALLY FAST, AND YOU COULD ALSO
FEEL A LITTLE SICK.
Icons representing each symptom appear on the monitor.
Neville asks, LIKE WHEN YOU EAT A REALLY
HOT PIZZA WAY TOO FAST?
Sandy says, UH, NO, IT'S MUCH WORSE.
YOU COULD END UP IN HOSPITAL.
THAT'S WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO
STAY HYDRATED BY DRINKING PLENTY
OF WATER, STAY IN THE SHADE, AND
DON'T OVERDO THE EXERCISE ON A
HOT DAY.
Big Trev joins the lifeguards and cadets with an ice cream cone.
Bondi says, AND IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE
HEATSTROKE, GO AND GET HELP FROM
AN ADULT.
Big Trev faces the junior cadets.
He says, SO, REMEMBER TO KEEP COOL.
He licks his ice cream cone.
[Slurping]
Frizzy says, AH!
The cadets grin
Big Trev says, MMM, THAT'S NICE.
[Gemma gasping]
Neville says, OOH!
The cadets stare at Big Trev’s ice cream cone. On Kangaroo Beach, a long line leads to Ferdinand’s food truck. The cadets stand at the back of the line. Neville is in a pile of sand. Gemma flaps her tail. Gemma flaps her tail.
Frizzy asks, WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?
Gemma says, TRYING TO KEEP COOL.
I'VE GOT A BUILT-IN COOLING FAN.
Neville says, AND I'M KEEPING COOL
WOMBAT-STYLE!
He digs further into the sand head first.
[Neville giggling]
Neville says, MM, COOL!
[Pounce chuckling]
Behind Neville, Pounce says, DOESN'T LOOK VERY COOL FROM
THIS ANGLE.
Neville pops up from his hole in the sand.
He asks, HOW DO ROOS KEEP COOL,
POUNCE?
Pounce says, KANGAROOS LIKE ME ARE MADE
FOR THE HEAT.
TODAY'S GONNA BE EASY.
BUT WHEN IT'S REALLY HOT, WE
KEEP OURSELVES NICE AND WET,
LIKE THIS!
He licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Gemma says, EWW!
BY LICKING?
Pounce says, YOU SHOULD TRY IT.
Neville licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Neville says, EWW!
TASTES LIKE AN ARM!
[Frizzy giggling]
Frizzy says, YOU KNOW HOW KOALAS KEEP
COOL?
BY LICKING ICE CREAM!
Two pandas walk away from the food truck. Frizzy walks up to Ferdinand.
She says, FOUR ICE CREAMS, THANKS,
FERDINAND.
Ferdinand says, COMING RIGHT UP, FRIZZY.
The cadets look excited. Ferdinand hands Frizzy an ice cream cone. Frizzy smiles. The ice cream melts down the cone and she frowns.
[Frizzy gasping]
[Ferdinand laughing]
Ferdinand says, NOW, THAT'S WHAT I CALL A SOFT
SERVE.
Frizzy looks sad.
[Frizzy groaning]
On the Kangaroo Beach dock, the cadets enjoy their melting ice cream.
Down the dock, Sandy says, HEY, CADETS?
She hops over to the cadets with Bondi close behind.
Sandy says, YOU SHOULD BE
INSIDE.
IT'S WAY TOO HOT OUT HERE.
Neville says, PHEW, I KNOW!
He tips his ice cream cone over and the ice cream falls out. He frowns. Frizzy cringes.
Pounce asks, CAN I HELP YOU PATROL THE
BEACH TODAY?
Sandy says, AWW, THANKS, POUNCE, BUT IT'S
TOO HOT FOR A LITTLE JOEY LIKE
YOU.
Pounce says, I CAN HANDLE THE HEAT.
I'M A KANGAROO, LIKE BONDI!
PLEASE?
Bondi says, SORRY, MATE, NOT TODAY.
JUST GO BACK TO THE CLUB, WHERE
THERE ARE JUGS OF ICY COLD WATER
AND STAY COOL.
Pounce looks disappointed.
Sandy says, THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU.
BUT IF YOU DO GO OUT, DRINK LOTS
OF WATER.
Bondi adds, AND WEAR A HAT.
Neville says, I'VE GOT THE PERFECT ONE.
He leaves, then returns wearing a sombrero and carrying a bucket.
Neville says, I CALL IT THE WOMBRERO!
FRIZZY, IF YOU PLEASE?
Frizzy dumps water out of the bucket onto Neville’s sombrero.
Neville sighs, AHH...
[Water splashing]
The water sprinkles down onto Neville.
Neville says, COOL AS A CUCUMBER.
[Cadets laughing]
At headquarters, Pounce stands in the bright sunlight. He looks through binoculars. Gemma, Neville and Frizzy join him by the windows.
Gemma says, POUNCE, SHOULDN'T WE STAY IN
THE SHADE, LIKE SANDY AND BONDI
SAID?
Pounce says, NOT NOW, GEMMA.
DUTY CALLS!
He scans the beach with his binoculars.
He says, A-HA!
DOLPHIN IN DISTRESS!
On the beach, the cadets run up to a pink dolphin with a pair of swim trunks over her eyes.
The cadets says, HUH?
Frizzy says, IT'S SHELLEY!
Shelley says, WHERE AM I?
WHERE AM I?
Neville pulls the swim trunks off Shelley’s eyes.
Gemma says, YOU'VE BEACHED YOURSELF,
SHELLEY.
Shelley laughs, OH, NOT AGAIN!
I WAS SURFING THIS AWESOME WAVE,
WHEN, SUDDENLY, I COULDN'T SEE
WHERE I WAS GOING.
Neville says, LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE ELSE IS IN
TROUBLE TOO.
Frizzy looks at the swim trunks.
She says, HMM...
Gemma says, OKAY, SHELLY, WE'RE GOING TO
PUSH YOU BACK INTO THE WATER.
Each of the cadets grab onto Shelley.
Pounce says, AND PUSH!
Pounce and Gemma push Shelley. Frizzy and Neville pull Shelley’s tail. Shelley remains stuck on the beach.
[Cadets grunting]
Frizzy says, COME ON, LET'S PUSH.
[Grunting continues]
Gemma says, WE GOT THIS!
She slips and falls.
Shelley says, HEAVE!
[Frizzy and Neville groaning]
Frizzy and Neville slip and fall on their backs. Frizzy’s hat falls off.
Gemma says, WE SHOULD ALERT BONDI AND SANDY.
Shelley says, NO NEED FOR THAT.
JUST KEEP ME COOL UNTIL THE TIDE
COMES IN.
Gemma says, I GUESS THAT'S OKAY.
HOW ABOUT I FAN YOU WITH MY
TAIL?
She fans Shelley with her tail.
[Shelley sighing contentedly]
Frizzy asks, IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE WE
COULD DO TO KEEP HER COOL WHILE
WE WAIT?
She puts on her hat.
Gemma says, WELL, DOLPHINS SHOULD BE WET
AT ALL TIMES.
Pounce says, I'LL GO FIND A BUCKET AND
ALERT BONDI AND SANDY ON THE
WAY.
Neville fans Shelley with his hat as Pounce makes his way across the beach. Pounce passes two beachgoers from water bottles.
[Chugging]
[Beachgoer sighing contentedly]
Pounce hops past Ferdinand enjoying a drink. He hops up the steps to headquarters.
[Pounce Panting]
Pounce looks tired as he arrives at headquarters. At the control panel, Bondi speaks into a microphone. Sandy stands beside him.
Bondi says, BIG TREV, YOU'RE RIGHT ON TOP
OF THEM.
He and Sandy watch Big Trev in the rescue helicopter.
[Helicopter blades whirring]
Pounce says, OH, THEY LOOK BUSY.
He scratches his head nervously. He turns around.
He says, I'LL COME BACK.
On the beach, Pounce hops past Ferdinand.
[Pounce breathing heavily]
Ferdinand says, HEY, POUNCE, SLOW DOWN, MATE.
DO YOU NEED SOME WATER?
Pounce says, NO TIME.
GOT TO FIND A BUCKET AND SAVE
SHELLEY.
Ferdinand says, HERE, CATCH!
He throws Pounce a bucket.
Pounce says, THANKS, FERDINAND!
YOU'RE A LEGEND.
He returns to Shelley and the other cadets.
[Pounce panting]
Neville puts on his hat. Pounce looks tired.
He says, GOT IT!
Pounce shakes his head. He looks dizzy. Pounce hops past Neville.
Neville says, POUNCE, ARE YOU OKAY?
Pounce jumps in the ocean.
He says, COURSE I AM.
I'M A ROO.
He fills the bucket with water and returns to Shelley’s side.
[Pounce sighing]
Pounce shakes his head. He dumps the bucket of water on Shelley.
Shelley says, OH, THANKS.
WOAH, THAT FEELS GOOD!
The sun blazes down on Kangaroo Beach.
Gemma says, OKAY, SHELLEY'S HYDRATED, BUT
NOW, SHE NEEDS SHADE.
Neville says, I'M ON IT!
He runs over to two kangaroos lounging on the beach under two umbrellas.
Neville says, HI, THERE.
DO YOU MIND IF WE BORROW ONE OF
THESE?
DOLPHIN EMERGENCY!
One of the kangaroos says, SURE!
Neville says, THANKS!
I'LL BRING IT BACK LATER.
He carries one of the umbrellas across the beach. A gust of wind blows under the umbrella.
Neville says, UH-OH.
The wind blows the umbrella and Neville, off the ground.
Neville screams, AAH!
[Wind gusting]
Neville climbs up the umbrella’s pole.
He screams, AAH!
The wind carries Neville and the umbrella back to Shelley and the other cadets.
Neville wails, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!
AAH!
Gemma says, NEVILLE, STOP FOOLING AROUND
AND GET DOWN HERE!
Neville says, HOW DO I TURN THIS THING
OFF?!
He pulls the umbrella closed and starts to fall.
Frizzy screams, AAH!
She runs away from the falling umbrella. The umbrella digs into the sand close to Shelley.
Shelley grunts, OOF!
The umbrella opens and Neville falls out.
Gemma says, WHOA.
Frizzy says, WOW.
The umbrella tilts toward Shelley, shading her.
[Shelley sighing contentedly]
Gemma asks, IS THAT SHADE HELPING, SHELLEY?
Shelley says, YEAH, IT'S AWESOME!
[Pounce panting]
Pounce hops over to Shelley with the bucket. He dumps water over Shelley.
Shelley says, OH, YEAH!
THANKS, POUNCE.
THAT'S AWESOME TOO.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce shakes his head.
[Pounce groaning]
Pounce licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Gemma asks, ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE,
SHELLEY?
Frizzy says, ACTUALLY…SOME ICE WATER
WOULD BE LOVELY.
AND A PILLOW.
UM, MAYBE SOMETHING TO READ?
Frizzy says, UH... OKAY,
WE'LL HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE
CLUB FOR THAT.
Pounce carries a fresh bucket of water.
Panting, he says, YOU GO.
I'LL KEEP SHELLEY HYDRATED.
He dumps the bucket of water over Shelley.
She bright sun glares down on the beach.
[Pounce breathing heavy]
Shelley says, YOU OKAY, DUDE?
YOU DON'T LOOK SO GOOD.
Pounce says, WOW, MY HEART'S REALLY
POUNDING.
He holds his chest.
He adds, I'M REALLY DIZZY TOO.
Shelley says, UH... YOU SHOULD SIT DOWN AND
SPLASH YOURSELF WITH SOME COLD
WATER.
Pounce licks his arm.
He says, NO WAY.
I'M A KANGAROO.
I'M MADE FOR THIS.
He looks determined and heads back toward the ocean with the bucket. At headquarters, Gemma carries a jug of water. She closes the fridge with her tail and joins Frizzy and Neville by the table. Frizzy holds a pillow. Neville carries two magazines. A fan beside the cadets cools the room.
Frizzy asks, HAVE WE GOT EVERYTHING?
Neville asks, WHICH YOU THINK SHE'D PREFER?
WOMBAT WEEKLY OR
DOLPHIN DIGEST?
He holds up the two different magazines. On the beach, Pounce look exhausted.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce briefly bends over. He stands up straight and dumps water over Shelley.
Pounce says, MAYBE I DO NEED TO TAKE A
BREAK.
He hops across the beach. He stumbles and wobbles on his feet.
[Pounce groaning]
Pounce spots Bondi and Sandy hopping across the beach in the distance. He shakes his head and looks back at the two lifeguard as they turn into ice cream cones.
Pounce says, COLD... YUMMY...
ICE CREAMS.
He licks his lips as Bondi and Sandy get further away.
Pounce says, COME BACK, GIANT HOPPING ICE
CREAMS!
He follows Bondi and Sandy down the beach. Frizzy, Neville and Gemma return to Shelley’s side. They put down their things and look around.
Frizzy asks, WHERE'S POUNCE?
Shelley says, HE WAS ACTING REALLY WEIRD
AND SAID HE WAS DIZZY AND HIS
HEART WAS POUNDING.
Gemma says, THAT SOUNDS LIKE –
Frizzy says, HE ATE A REALLY HOT PIZZA WAY
TOO FAST?
[Gemma laughing]
Gemma says, NO, HEATSTROKE.
Neville says, SO, KANGAROOS CAN'T HANDLE
THE HEAT?
Gemma says, WE NEED TO FIND HIM FAST.
Frizzy says, LOOK, I FOUND HIM!
Through binoculars, Frizzy watches Pounce hop down the beach. He follows Bondi and Sandy, who look like ice cream cones.
Pounce says, WAIT, ICE CREAMS!
I'M COMING!
He stumbles to the ground.
He wails, WAH!
Frizzy says, POUNCE IS DOWN!
[Pounce groaning]
Through her radio, Gemma says, SANDY, I THINK POUNCE HAS
HEATSTROKE.
HE LOOKS REALLY DIZZY AND HOT.
WE NEED TO GET HIM SOME WATER,
FAST.
Through her radio Sandy responds, THANKS, GEMMA, WE'RE ON IT.
She and Bondi say, ROOS TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Engine humming]
Bondi drives the rescue golf cart out of headquarters with Sandy.
On the beach, Gemma says, FRIZZY, NEVILLE, YOU TWO GO
AND HELP POUNCE.
I'LL STAY WITH SHELLEY.
The ocean’s tide reaches Shelley.
Shelley says, TIDE'S IN!
I'M FINE NOW, THANKS TO YOU
CADETS.
NOW, GO HELP POUNCE!
The tide carries Shelley back to the ocean. On the beach Pounce looks tired.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce says, SO HOT.
Frizzy, Gemma and Neville run up to their friend.
Pounce says, I'M A KANGAROO.
I CAN HANDLE THE HEAT.
Gemma says, IT'S OKAY, POUNCE.
WE'RE HERE.
Frizzy says, DRINK UP.
YOU'RE DEHYDRATED.
YOU MIGHT EVEN HAVE HEATSTROKE.
She holds a water bottle to Pounce’s mouth.
[Pounce gulping]
Sandy and Bondi join the cadets.
Pounce says, HELLO, ICE CREAMS!
Bondi and Sandy look like ice cream cones.
Bondi says, POUNCE.
Sandy says, WHAT?
ARE YOU, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?
Pounce says, NOW THAT YOU'RE HERE, I AM.
He licks his lips as he stares at Sandy and Bondi. As their normal selves, the two lifeguards look worried.
Bondi says, WE'RE TAKING YOU BACK TO HQ,
MATE.
Pounce says, ANYTHING YOU SAY, GIANT ICE
CREAM.
He holds his hands out to the two lifeguards.
With his mouth wide open, Pounce says, AHHH.
Bondi glances at Sandy. They look worried. At headquarters, Pounce sits on a bed in the medical wing. He drinks more water with a fan in front of him.
[Gulping]
Sandy says, SO, YOU'RE FEELING BETTER,
CHAMP?
Pounce says, YES.
SORRY FOR CAUSING TROUBLE.
I WAS JUST TRYING TO BE STRONG.
I THOUGHT US ROOS COULD HANDLE
THE HEAT.
Bondi says, WE CAN, MATE, BUT WE NEED TO
STAY HYDRATED AND STAY IN THE
SHADE AS MUCH AS WE CAN.
[Fan whirring]
Pounce says, I'LL BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT
TIME.
AND SORRY FOR TRYING TO LICK YOU
GUYS, BUT I THOUGHT YOU WERE ICE
CREAMS!
Pounce looks embarrassed.
[Bondi laughing]
Neville holds an ice cream cone.
He says, HEY, POUNCE, YOU CAN WEAR MY
WOMBRERO, IF YOU WANT.
Pounce takes another drink of water.
He says, THANKS, NEVILLE.
MAYBE LATER.
BUT I'D LOVE AN ICE CREAM!
[Neville giggling]
He says, WE THOUGHT YOU'D ASK FOR
THAT.
He brings the ice cream to Pounce.
Pounce says, YUM!
The ice cream melts in his hand.
Pounce groans, AWW...
He shrugs and licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville look shocked.
They say, EWW!
[Cadets laughing]

Sandy says, HMM, YOU'D BE SURPRISED.
HEATSTROKE CAN REALLY SNEAK UP
ON YOU.
Gemma asks, WHAT DOES HEATSTROKE FEEL
LIKE?
Sandy says, WELL, YOU MIGHT HAVE A
HEADACHE OR FEEL DIZZY, OR YOU
MIGHT FEEL YOUR HEART BEATING
REALLY FAST, AND YOU COULD ALSO
FEEL A LITTLE SICK.
Icons representing each symptom appear on the monitor.
Neville asks, LIKE WHEN YOU EAT A REALLY
HOT PIZZA WAY TOO FAST?
Sandy says, UH, NO, IT'S MUCH WORSE.
YOU COULD END UP IN HOSPITAL.
THAT'S WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO
STAY HYDRATED BY DRINKING PLENTY
OF WATER, STAY IN THE SHADE, AND
DON'T OVERDO THE EXERCISE ON A
HOT DAY.
Big Trev joins the lifeguards and cadets with an ice cream cone.
Bondi says, AND IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE
HEATSTROKE, GO AND GET HELP FROM
AN ADULT.
Big Trev faces the junior cadets.
He says, SO, REMEMBER TO KEEP COOL.
He licks his ice cream cone.
[Slurping]
Frizzy says, AH!
The cadets grin
Big Trev says, MMM, THAT'S NICE.
[Gemma gasping]
Neville says, OOH!
The cadets stare at Big Trev’s ice cream cone. On Kangaroo Beach, a long line leads to Ferdinand’s food truck. The cadets stand at the back of the line. Neville is in a pile of sand. Gemma flaps her tail. Gemma flaps her tail.
Frizzy asks, WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?
Gemma says, TRYING TO KEEP COOL.
I'VE GOT A BUILT-IN COOLING FAN.
Neville says, AND I'M KEEPING COOL
WOMBAT-STYLE!
He digs further into the sand head first.
[Neville giggling]
Neville says, MM, COOL!
[Pounce chuckling]
Behind Neville, Pounce says, DOESN'T LOOK VERY COOL FROM
THIS ANGLE.
Neville pops up from his hole in the sand.
He asks, HOW DO ROOS KEEP COOL,
POUNCE?
Pounce says, KANGAROOS LIKE ME ARE MADE
FOR THE HEAT.
TODAY'S GONNA BE EASY.
BUT WHEN IT'S REALLY HOT, WE
KEEP OURSELVES NICE AND WET,
LIKE THIS!
He licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Gemma says, EWW!
BY LICKING?
Pounce says, YOU SHOULD TRY IT.
Neville licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Neville says, EWW!
TASTES LIKE AN ARM!
[Frizzy giggling]
Frizzy says, YOU KNOW HOW KOALAS KEEP
COOL?
BY LICKING ICE CREAM!
Two pandas walk away from the food truck. Frizzy walks up to Ferdinand.
She says, FOUR ICE CREAMS, THANKS,
FERDINAND.
Ferdinand says, COMING RIGHT UP, FRIZZY.
The cadets look excited. Ferdinand hands Frizzy an ice cream cone. Frizzy smiles. The ice cream melts down the cone and she frowns.
[Frizzy gasping]
[Ferdinand laughing]
Ferdinand says, NOW, THAT'S WHAT I CALL A SOFT
SERVE.
Frizzy looks sad.
[Frizzy groaning]
On the Kangaroo Beach dock, the cadets enjoy their melting ice cream.
Down the dock, Sandy says, HEY, CADETS?
She hops over to the cadets with Bondi close behind.
Sandy says, YOU SHOULD BE
INSIDE.
IT'S WAY TOO HOT OUT HERE.
Neville says, PHEW, I KNOW!
He tips his ice cream cone over and the ice cream falls out. He frowns. Frizzy cringes.
Pounce asks, CAN I HELP YOU PATROL THE
BEACH TODAY?
Sandy says, AWW, THANKS, POUNCE, BUT IT'S
TOO HOT FOR A LITTLE JOEY LIKE
YOU.
Pounce says, I CAN HANDLE THE HEAT.
I'M A KANGAROO, LIKE BONDI!
PLEASE?
Bondi says, SORRY, MATE, NOT TODAY.
JUST GO BACK TO THE CLUB, WHERE
THERE ARE JUGS OF ICY COLD WATER
AND STAY COOL.
Pounce looks disappointed.
Sandy says, THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU.
BUT IF YOU DO GO OUT, DRINK LOTS
OF WATER.
Bondi adds, AND WEAR A HAT.
Neville says, I'VE GOT THE PERFECT ONE.
He leaves, then returns wearing a sombrero and carrying a bucket.
Neville says, I CALL IT THE WOMBRERO!
FRIZZY, IF YOU PLEASE?
Frizzy dumps water out of the bucket onto Neville’s sombrero.
Neville sighs, AHH...
[Water splashing]
The water sprinkles down onto Neville.
Neville says, COOL AS A CUCUMBER.
[Cadets laughing]
At headquarters, Pounce stands in the bright sunlight. He looks through binoculars. Gemma, Neville and Frizzy join him by the windows.
Gemma says, POUNCE, SHOULDN'T WE STAY IN
THE SHADE, LIKE SANDY AND BONDI
SAID?
Pounce says, NOT NOW, GEMMA.
DUTY CALLS!
He scans the beach with his binoculars.
He says, A-HA!
DOLPHIN IN DISTRESS!
On the beach, the cadets run up to a pink dolphin with a pair of swim trunks over her eyes.
The cadets says, HUH?
Frizzy says, IT'S SHELLEY!
Shelley says, WHERE AM I?
WHERE AM I?
Neville pulls the swim trunks off Shelley’s eyes.
Gemma says, YOU'VE BEACHED YOURSELF,
SHELLEY.
Shelley laughs, OH, NOT AGAIN!
I WAS SURFING THIS AWESOME WAVE,
WHEN, SUDDENLY, I COULDN'T SEE
WHERE I WAS GOING.
Neville says, LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE ELSE IS IN
TROUBLE TOO.
Frizzy looks at the swim trunks.
She says, HMM...
Gemma says, OKAY, SHELLY, WE'RE GOING TO
PUSH YOU BACK INTO THE WATER.
Each of the cadets grab onto Shelley.
Pounce says, AND PUSH!
Pounce and Gemma push Shelley. Frizzy and Neville pull Shelley’s tail. Shelley remains stuck on the beach.
[Cadets grunting]
Frizzy says, COME ON, LET'S PUSH.
[Grunting continues]
Gemma says, WE GOT THIS!
She slips and falls.
Shelley says, HEAVE!
[Frizzy and Neville groaning]
Frizzy and Neville slip and fall on their backs. Frizzy’s hat falls off.
Gemma says, WE SHOULD ALERT BONDI AND SANDY.
Shelley says, NO NEED FOR THAT.
JUST KEEP ME COOL UNTIL THE TIDE
COMES IN.
Gemma says, I GUESS THAT'S OKAY.
HOW ABOUT I FAN YOU WITH MY
TAIL?
She fans Shelley with her tail.
[Shelley sighing contentedly]
Frizzy asks, IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE WE
COULD DO TO KEEP HER COOL WHILE
WE WAIT?
She puts on her hat.
Gemma says, WELL, DOLPHINS SHOULD BE WET
AT ALL TIMES.
Pounce says, I'LL GO FIND A BUCKET AND
ALERT BONDI AND SANDY ON THE
WAY.
Neville fans Shelley with his hat as Pounce makes his way across the beach. Pounce passes two beachgoers from water bottles.
[Chugging]
[Beachgoer sighing contentedly]
Pounce hops past Ferdinand enjoying a drink. He hops up the steps to headquarters.
[Pounce Panting]
Pounce looks tired as he arrives at headquarters. At the control panel, Bondi speaks into a microphone. Sandy stands beside him.
Bondi says, BIG TREV, YOU'RE RIGHT ON TOP
OF THEM.
He and Sandy watch Big Trev in the rescue helicopter.
[Helicopter blades whirring]
Pounce says, OH, THEY LOOK BUSY.
He scratches his head nervously. He turns around.
He says, I'LL COME BACK.
On the beach, Pounce hops past Ferdinand.
[Pounce breathing heavily]
Ferdinand says, HEY, POUNCE, SLOW DOWN, MATE.
DO YOU NEED SOME WATER?
Pounce says, NO TIME.
GOT TO FIND A BUCKET AND SAVE
SHELLEY.
Ferdinand says, HERE, CATCH!
He throws Pounce a bucket.
Pounce says, THANKS, FERDINAND!
YOU'RE A LEGEND.
He returns to Shelley and the other cadets.
[Pounce panting]
Neville puts on his hat. Pounce looks tired.
He says, GOT IT!
Pounce shakes his head. He looks dizzy. Pounce hops past Neville.
Neville says, POUNCE, ARE YOU OKAY?
Pounce jumps in the ocean.
He says, COURSE I AM.
I'M A ROO.
He fills the bucket with water and returns to Shelley’s side.
[Pounce sighing]
Pounce shakes his head. He dumps the bucket of water on Shelley.
Shelley says, OH, THANKS.
WOAH, THAT FEELS GOOD!
The sun blazes down on Kangaroo Beach.
Gemma says, OKAY, SHELLEY'S HYDRATED, BUT
NOW, SHE NEEDS SHADE.
Neville says, I'M ON IT!
He runs over to two kangaroos lounging on the beach under two umbrellas.
Neville says, HI, THERE.
DO YOU MIND IF WE BORROW ONE OF
THESE?
DOLPHIN EMERGENCY!
One of the kangaroos says, SURE!
Neville says, THANKS!
I'LL BRING IT BACK LATER.
He carries one of the umbrellas across the beach. A gust of wind blows under the umbrella.
Neville says, UH-OH.
The wind blows the umbrella and Neville, off the ground.
Neville screams, AAH!
[Wind gusting]
Neville climbs up the umbrella’s pole.
He screams, AAH!
The wind carries Neville and the umbrella back to Shelley and the other cadets.
Neville wails, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!
AAH!
Gemma says, NEVILLE, STOP FOOLING AROUND
AND GET DOWN HERE!
Neville says, HOW DO I TURN THIS THING
OFF?!
He pulls the umbrella closed and starts to fall.
Frizzy screams, AAH!
She runs away from the falling umbrella. The umbrella digs into the sand close to Shelley.
Shelley grunts, OOF!
The umbrella opens and Neville falls out.
Gemma says, WHOA.
Frizzy says, WOW.
The umbrella tilts toward Shelley, shading her.
[Shelley sighing contentedly]
Gemma asks, IS THAT SHADE HELPING, SHELLEY?
Shelley says, YEAH, IT'S AWESOME!
[Pounce panting]
Pounce hops over to Shelley with the bucket. He dumps water over Shelley.
Shelley says, OH, YEAH!
THANKS, POUNCE.
THAT'S AWESOME TOO.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce shakes his head.
[Pounce groaning]
Pounce licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Gemma asks, ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE,
SHELLEY?
Frizzy says, ACTUALLY…SOME ICE WATER
WOULD BE LOVELY.
AND A PILLOW.
UM, MAYBE SOMETHING TO READ?
Frizzy says, UH... OKAY,
WE'LL HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE
CLUB FOR THAT.
Pounce carries a fresh bucket of water.
Panting, he says, YOU GO.
I'LL KEEP SHELLEY HYDRATED.
He dumps the bucket of water over Shelley.
She bright sun glares down on the beach.
[Pounce breathing heavy]
Shelley says, YOU OKAY, DUDE?
YOU DON'T LOOK SO GOOD.
Pounce says, WOW, MY HEART'S REALLY
POUNDING.
He holds his chest.
He adds, I'M REALLY DIZZY TOO.
Shelley says, UH... YOU SHOULD SIT DOWN AND
SPLASH YOURSELF WITH SOME COLD
WATER.
Pounce licks his arm.
He says, NO WAY.
I'M A KANGAROO.
I'M MADE FOR THIS.
He looks determined and heads back toward the ocean with the bucket. At headquarters, Gemma carries a jug of water. She closes the fridge with her tail and joins Frizzy and Neville by the table. Frizzy holds a pillow. Neville carries two magazines. A fan beside the cadets cools the room.
Frizzy asks, HAVE WE GOT EVERYTHING?
Neville asks, WHICH YOU THINK SHE'D PREFER?
WOMBAT WEEKLY OR
DOLPHIN DIGEST?
He holds up the two different magazines. On the beach, Pounce look exhausted.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce briefly bends over. He stands up straight and dumps water over Shelley.
Pounce says, MAYBE I DO NEED TO TAKE A
BREAK.
He hops across the beach. He stumbles and wobbles on his feet.
[Pounce groaning]
Pounce spots Bondi and Sandy hopping across the beach in the distance. He shakes his head and looks back at the two lifeguard as they turn into ice cream cones.
Pounce says, COLD... YUMMY...
ICE CREAMS.
He licks his lips as Bondi and Sandy get further away.
Pounce says, COME BACK, GIANT HOPPING ICE
CREAMS!
He follows Bondi and Sandy down the beach. Frizzy, Neville and Gemma return to Shelley’s side. They put down their things and look around.
Frizzy asks, WHERE'S POUNCE?
Shelley says, HE WAS ACTING REALLY WEIRD
AND SAID HE WAS DIZZY AND HIS
HEART WAS POUNDING.
Gemma says, THAT SOUNDS LIKE –
Frizzy says, HE ATE A REALLY HOT PIZZA WAY
TOO FAST?
[Gemma laughing]
Gemma says, NO, HEATSTROKE.
Neville says, SO, KANGAROOS CAN'T HANDLE
THE HEAT?
Gemma says, WE NEED TO FIND HIM FAST.
Frizzy says, LOOK, I FOUND HIM!
Through binoculars, Frizzy watches Pounce hop down the beach. He follows Bondi and Sandy, who look like ice cream cones.
Pounce says, WAIT, ICE CREAMS!
I'M COMING!
He stumbles to the ground.
He wails, WAH!
Frizzy says, POUNCE IS DOWN!
[Pounce groaning]
Through her radio, Gemma says, SANDY, I THINK POUNCE HAS
HEATSTROKE.
HE LOOKS REALLY DIZZY AND HOT.
WE NEED TO GET HIM SOME WATER,
FAST.
Through her radio Sandy responds, THANKS, GEMMA, WE'RE ON IT.
She and Bondi say, ROOS TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Engine humming]
Bondi drives the rescue golf cart out of headquarters with Sandy.
On the beach, Gemma says, FRIZZY, NEVILLE, YOU TWO GO
AND HELP POUNCE.
I'LL STAY WITH SHELLEY.
The ocean’s tide reaches Shelley.
Shelley says, TIDE'S IN!
I'M FINE NOW, THANKS TO YOU
CADETS.
NOW, GO HELP POUNCE!
The tide carries Shelley back to the ocean. On the beach Pounce looks tired.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce says, SO HOT.
Frizzy, Gemma and Neville run up to their friend.
Pounce says, I'M A KANGAROO.
I CAN HANDLE THE HEAT.
Gemma says, IT'S OKAY, POUNCE.
WE'RE HERE.
Frizzy says, DRINK UP.
YOU'RE DEHYDRATED.
YOU MIGHT EVEN HAVE HEATSTROKE.
She holds a water bottle to Pounce’s mouth.
[Pounce gulping]
Sandy and Bondi join the cadets.
Pounce says, HELLO, ICE CREAMS!
Bondi and Sandy look like ice cream cones.
Bondi says, POUNCE.
Sandy says, WHAT?
ARE YOU, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?
Pounce says, NOW THAT YOU'RE HERE, I AM.
He licks his lips as he stares at Sandy and Bondi. As their normal selves, the two lifeguards look worried.
Bondi says, WE'RE TAKING YOU BACK TO HQ,
MATE.
Pounce says, ANYTHING YOU SAY, GIANT ICE
CREAM.
He holds his hands out to the two lifeguards.
With his mouth wide open, Pounce says, AHHH.
Bondi glances at Sandy. They look worried. At headquarters, Pounce sits on a bed in the medical wing. He drinks more water with a fan in front of him.
[Gulping]
Sandy says, SO, YOU'RE FEELING BETTER,
CHAMP?
Pounce says, YES.
SORRY FOR CAUSING TROUBLE.
I WAS JUST TRYING TO BE STRONG.
I THOUGHT US ROOS COULD HANDLE
THE HEAT.
Bondi says, WE CAN, MATE, BUT WE NEED TO
STAY HYDRATED AND STAY IN THE
SHADE AS MUCH AS WE CAN.
[Fan whirring]
Pounce says, I'LL BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT
TIME.
AND SORRY FOR TRYING TO LICK YOU
GUYS, BUT I THOUGHT YOU WERE ICE
CREAMS!
Pounce looks embarrassed.
[Bondi laughing]
Neville holds an ice cream cone.
He says, HEY, POUNCE, YOU CAN WEAR MY
WOMBRERO, IF YOU WANT.
Pounce takes another drink of water.
He says, THANKS, NEVILLE.
MAYBE LATER.
BUT I'D LOVE AN ICE CREAM!
[Neville giggling]
He says, WE THOUGHT YOU'D ASK FOR
THAT.
He brings the ice cream to Pounce.
Pounce says, YUM!
The ice cream melts in his hand.
Pounce groans, AWW...
He shrugs and licks his arm.
[Slurping]
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville look shocked.
They say, EWW!
[Cadets laughing]
[Upbeat music plays]
