Marine life navigates the ocean.
[Upbeat music plays]
A singer sings, OVER THE OCEAN
AND OVER THE REEF.
THERE'S A SUNNY LITTLE PLACE
CALLED KANGAROO BEACH.
The sun shines brightly over the Kangaroo Beach Lifeguard Headquarters. Text reads, Screen Australia and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation presents, A Cheeky Little Media production. Created by Tim Bain.
The singer sings, FRIZZY, GEMMA,
NEVILLE AND POUNCE.
Frizzy, a koala with blue fur, balances sunglasses on her head. Gemma, a platypus, wears goggles strapped over her head. Neville, a wombat, wears a bucket hat. Pounce, a kangaroo, hops over his friends and down a slide. All the friends wear a red and blue uniform.
The singer and others sing, CADETS IN THE CLUB,
SO COME ON, LET'S BOUNCE.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville follow Pounce down the slide.
The singer sings, GOOD FRIENDS SURFIN'
SWIMMIN', LEARNIN’
Pounce surfs down the slide. Gemma slides down on her stomach. Fizzy follows with her hands in the air. Neville spins down the slide.
He screams, AAH!
Outside, on the Kangaroo Beach dock, he blows a whistle and points to the water.
[Whistle blaring]
The singer sings, BONDI, SANDY,
BIG TREV TOO.
Bondi and Sandy, kangaroos, speed across the water on a boat with Pounce. Underwater, Frizzy travels in a submarine with Big Trev, a bearded koala with green fur.
The singer sings, TRAININ' WITH THE VERY BEST
LIFEGUARD CREW.
STAYIN' SAFE, BEING BRAVE,
RIDE A WAVE, MAKE A SAVE.
Gemma rides in a helicopter. The lifeguards and junior cadets return to the beach. The cadets surf a big wave.
The singer sings, WE'RE HERE ALL SUMMER,
IT JUST GETS FUNNER.
LET'S HOP DOWN TO...
A large wave crashes into the lifeguards and cadets on the beach.
The singer sings, …KANGAROO BEACH!
Title, Kangaroo Beach. A splash of water reveals the episode title on the beach.
Pounce reads, BRAVE IN THE WAVES.
Text reads, Written by Charlotte Rose Hamlyn. A wave rolls over the title and reveals Bondi and the four junior cadets on the beach.
Bondi asks, WHO'S READY FOR A SWIM?
All the cadets say, ME, ME, ME, ME!
[Screaming]
A big wave curves over Ghërkinn in the ocean.
[Ghërkinn screaming]
The wave crashes over Ghërkinn. The cadets on the beach looks worried. Ghërkinn slides onto the beach beside them.
[Ghërkinn coughing]
[Ghërkinn spitting out water]
Ghërkinn says, DO NOT GO IN THERE.
The cadets nervously say, UH...
Neville says, MAYBE THE WAVES ARE TOO BIG?
Bondi says, ACTUALLY, THEY'RE PERFECT,
BECAUSE TODAY WE'RE GOING TO
LEARN HOW TO DIVE UNDER THEM.
GATHER IN.
WAVES MIGHT SEEM SCARY ON THE
SURFACE, BUT YOU CAN DIVE UNDER
THEM.
Bondi draws in the sand with a stick. He draws a line going under a wave. Frizzy takes the stick from Bondi.
Frizzy says, UNLESS THERE'S A ROBOT
OCTOPUS, AND IT SHOOTS INK AT
YOU LIKE PEW-PEW-PEW!
She draws an octopus in the sand underneath the wave.
Neville asks, THEN WHAT DO WE DO?
Frizzy says, ARM WRESTLE IT EIGHT TIMES!
[Pounce and Gemma giggling]
[Bondi chuckling]
Bondi says, AND TO DO THAT, YOU'LL NEED
TO TAKE A BIG BREATH AND DIVE
UNDER THE WAVE.
LET'S PRACTICE TAKING A BIG
BREATH.
One by one, Bondi and each of the cadets take a deep breath in. They hold their breath. Frizzy lets out her breath.
She sings, EIGHT ROBOT OCTOPUS ARMS
IN THE SEA!
EIGHT ROBOT OCTOPUS ARMS!
Frizzy dances around her friends who are still holding their breath.
Frizzy sings, SHAKE ONE 'ROUND,
WRESTLE AROUND,
SEVEN ROBOT OCTOPUS ARMS
IN THE SEA!
[Neville, Pounce and Gemma exhaling]
Neville says, THAT'S REALLY CATCHY!
The junior cadets follow Bondi into the ocean.
Together, the cadets sing, ONE ROBOT OCTOPUS ARM
IN THE SEA!
ONE ROBOT OCTOPUS ARM!
YOU SHAKE IT 'ROUND,
WRESTLE AROUND,
NO ROBOT OCTOPUS ARMS
IN THE SEA.
The cadets stand in the waist deep water.
Bondi says, OKAY, CADETS, WE'RE DEEP
ENOUGH NOW.
LET'S HAVE A CRACK AT DIVING
UNDER OUR FIRST WAVE.
BIG TREV'LL BE NEARBY IF YOU
NEED HELP.
Big Trev waves from the beach.
He says, HERE I AM!
The cadets say, HI, BIG TREV!
They wave to Big Trev. Bondi hops further into the water.
He says, AND REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR
HANDS IN FRONT OF YOUR HEADS
WHEN YOU DIVE.
[Bondi inhaling]
Bondi dives under a wave crashing toward the beach. He swims underneath the wave, then pops out of the water on the other side.
He says, AH.
NOW YOU GIVE IT A GO.
A crashing wave rolls toward Gemma.
Gemma says, WATCH OUT, WAVES, HERE I
COME!
She looks determined. She dives forward as the wave reaches her.
[Frizzy and Neville yelling]
Gemma wails, WHOA!
The crashing waves reaches Frizzy and Neville.
The three cadets yell, WHOA!
The wave carries them through the water. Closer to shore, Pounce looks worried. The wave grows smaller as it rolls toward the beach.
[Pounce yelping]
Pounce hops over the wave.
[Gemma, Frizzy and Neville panting]
Pounce looks scared. Gemma, Frizzy and Neville pop up from the water behind Pounce.
Frizzy says, OKAY, THAT WAS HARD.
Neville asks, DID YOU DIVE UNDER IT,
POUNCE?
Pounce says, UH, NAH, IT WAS TOO SMALL FOR
ME.
I'LL WAIT FOR A BIGGER ONE.
[Neville gasping]
Neville says, LIKE THAT ONE?
He points to the water.
Bondi calls out, SWIM TOWARDS THE WAVE AND
DIVE UNDER!
YOU CAN DO IT!
A tall wave rolls toward the cadets.
Gemma says, COME ON, POUNCE, LET'S SHOW
THIS WAVE WHO'S BOSS.
Frizzy and Neville follow her into the water as the wave grows taller.
[Nervous shouting]
Neville yells, WOAH!
The wave crashes and carries Gemma, Frizzy and Neville back toward the beach. Pounce looks scared. He hops away from the wave and onto the beach. He hops past Big Trev.
Big Trev says, HM, OH DEAR.
Neville, Gemma and Frizzy lie on the beach.
[Neville, Gemma and Frizzy panting]
Pounce hops over to his friends. He smiles confidently. Big Trev walks up beside him.
He says, DIDN'T FEEL LIKE DIVING, POUNCE?
Pounce’s eyes widen and he looks away.
He says, NAH, I'VE DIVED UNDER SO MANY
WAVES BEFORE, IT'S…EASY PEASY!
Big Trev says, HM.
[Panting]
Frizzy says, EASY PEASY?
MORE LIKE IMPOSSIBLE WOSSIBLE.
Neville says, I KEEP GETTING DUNKED.
CAN YOU TEACH US, POUNCE?
Bondi joins the cadets on the beach.
He says, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA.
YOU CAN SHOW 'EM HOW IT'S DONE,
POUNCE.
Pounce looks nervous.
He says, I, I GUESS I COULD.
Bondi says, GREAT, I'LL BE ON PATROL IF
YOU NEED ME, BUT YOU'LL BE FINE.
YOU'RE BRAVE AND STRONG, A TRUE
'ROO.
He leaves the cadets.
Pounce says, TRUE 'ROO…
Frizzy says, WE'RE READY!
Gemma says, JUMP IN AND SHOW US HOW IT'S
DONE!
Neville says, WE'LL WATCH!
Pounce says, UH, NO, NO, NO.
YOU HAVE TO LEARN SOME OTHER
THINGS FIRST.
IMPORTANT THINGS.
Gemma asks, LIKE WHAT?
Elsewhere on the beach, Gemma and Frizzy practice swimming on land.
Pounce says, SWIM, SWIM, SWIM, WAVE!
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville balance on beach balls as they practice swimming. Neville wobbles on his beach ball.
Neville says, UHH.
Gemma asks, CAN WE GET IN THE WATER NOW?
Neville slips and rolls head first off his beach ball.
Neville yells, WHOA!
[Neville grunting]
Pounce says, UH, NOT YET.
The cadets look at a big rising wave.
Neville wails, AH, IT'S TOO REAL!
In the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, the cadets watch the rising wave on a large monitor.
Pounce says, ON MY MARK…
DIVE!
With their paws in the air, Frizzy, Neville and Gemma dive onto the floor. Pounce flinches and covers his eyes.
Neville yells, WOAH!
[Frizzy, Neville and Gemma grunting]
The wave on the monitor crashes onto the water. Gemma stands up.
She asks, CAN WE GET IN THE WATER NOW?
Pounce says, UM, NO, THERE'S STILL MORE
SERIOUS TRAINING TO DO.
On Kangaroo Beach, Gemma stands with her arms out.
All the cadets say, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE!
They wiggle on the spot.
They cheer, WHOO!
One of the cadets cheers, OH YEAH!
[Cadets laughing]
Neville cheers, ALRIGHT!
YES!
Frizzy cheers, COOL!
Gemma cheers, WHOO-HOO!
Pounce cheers, OH YEAH!
In a nearby lifeguard post, Bondi lowers his binoculars. He smiles and looks at the cadets on the beach.
The cadets cheer, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE!
Gemma says, UH, HOW IS THIS SERIOUS
TRAINING?
Pounce dramatically explains, TO DIVE INTO THE WAVE, YOU
MUST FIRST BECOME THE WAVE.
Frizzy spreads out her arms.
She says, I'M A WAVE, WAVING.
She dances with her arms out.
[Frizzy giggling]
Gemma asks, CAN WE PLEASE PRACTICE DIVING
IN SOME REAL WAVES NOW?
Frizzy dances across the beach.
She says, YEAH, DON'T YOU WANT TO GO IN
THE OCEAN, POUNCE?
Pounce says, I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO FORCE
YOU WHEN YOU WEREN'T READY.
Gemma says, WE'RE READY!
Neville asks, ARE WE?
Frizzy says, READY!
WAVE CRASH!
She jumps and squishes a sand castle.
[Frizzy laughing]
At the water’s edge, a gentle wave rolls onto the beach. Pounce lifts his foot away from the water. He looks at the wave nervously. The others join him.
Pounce says, OKAY, WHO WANTS TO GO FIRST?
Gemma says, YOU SHOW US HOW IT'S DONE SO
WE CAN LEARN FROM THE ABSOLUTE
BEST.
Nearby, Ghërkinn says, EXCUSE ME, ARE YOU LEARNING
HOW TO DO THE WAVES?
I'D LIKE TO JOIN.
Pounce looks thoughtful.
He says, SURE!
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DIVE, GHĂ‹RKINN?
Ghërkinn says, OF COURSE, I'M AN OTTER?
[Ghërkinn snorting]
Ghërkinn says, AND
I'VE BEEN WORKING ON A NEW
SPECIAL DIVING METHOD, THE
MAJESTIC MER-GHĂ‹RKINN!
IT'S A MERMAID CROSSED WITH ME,
GHĂ‹RKINN, GET IT?
Pounce says, GREAT, HOW ABOUT YOU SHOW US
AND, UH, I CAN GIVE YOU SOME
POINTERS.
[Ghërkinn giggling]
Ghërkinn excitedly runs to the water.
Frizzy says, BUT I WANT TO SEE YOU DO IT,
POUNCE.
Neville says, YEAH, YOU'RE THE EXPERT,
POUNCE.
Gemma says, YEAH, AND WHEN DO WE GET A
GO?
Pounce says, SOON, SOON, DEFINITELY.
[Ghërkinn giggling]
A big wave crashes toward Ghërkinn.
Ghërkinn says, MER-GHËRKINN!
He dives toward the wave. Pounce frowns.
Gemma cheers, HE DID IT!
Frizzy cheers, WOO-HOO!
Neville cheers, GO, GERKIN!
Ghërkinn rises from the water on the other side of the wave.
[Ghërkinn chuckling]
Ghërkinn looks back at the cadets.
He says, YOO-HOO!
He waves to the cadets as another big wave rises behind him. Ghërkinn turns and looks at the wave.
Ghërkinn says, OH, MY GOODNESS.
The wave crashes over Ghërkinn.
Neville yells, OH, NO!
[Ghërkinn coughing]
Ghërkinn rises from the water. He waves his arms frantically.
[Ghërkinn grunting]
Another wave crashes over Ghërkinn.
Ghërkinn yells, HELP!
HELP, CADETLETS!
The four junior cadets look worried. Pounce speaks into his radio.
He says, SOUND THE ALARM!
LIFE GUARDS TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Wave crashing]
Bondi hops over to Pounce with rescue boards.
Pounce says, HE'S OVER THERE!
Bondi says, I SEE HIM.
[Ghërkinn wailing]
Bondi asks, WANT TO JOIN ME, POUNCE?
I COULD DO WITH ANOTHER TRUE
'ROO OUT THERE.
He puts down the smaller rescue board and hops into the water.
Pounce nervously says, UH...
Gemma says, COOL!
Frizzy says, YEAH, DO IT, POUNCE!
Neville says, YOU'RE GREAT IN THE WAVES!
Pounce looks worried. In the water, he rides the small rescue board beside Bondi.
Bondi says, STAY CLOSE.
Pounce says, OKAY…
Bondi paddles past Pounce toward a wave lifting Ghërkinn.
[Ghërkinn whimpering]
Ghërkinn wails, HELP, HELP!
The wave crashes and drops Ghërkinn.
[Ghërkinn panting]
Bondi rides his board through the wave. Pounce looks scared as the wave rolls toward him.
He says, STEADY.
[Pounce whimpering]
The wave knocks Pounce off his board.
Pounce yells, AHH!
Pounce pops up from the water.
[Pounce gasping]
Pounce turns and looks at another large wave rising in the distance.
[Pounce hyperventilating]
[Pounce gasping]
The wave crashes over Pounce. On the beach, Big Trev runs into the water with a rescue board. Pounce pops out of the water. He spits out water.
[Pounce panting]
[Ghërkinn yelping]
Bondi paddles up to Ghërkinn
Bondi says, GOTCHA, CHAMP.
He pulls Ghërkinn onto the rescue board.
Bondi says, YOU'RE ALRIGHT.
Nearby, Pounce looks scared.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce yells, HELP!
Bondi spots Pounce in the water.
Bondi says, POUNCE?
Big Trev reaches Pounce on the rescue board. Pounce grabs the board.
[Pounce wailing]
Big Trev says, NEED A HAND?
I GOT YOU.
He pulls Pounce onto the board. Behind them, Bondi rides down a wave with Ghërkinn. Big Trev paddles up beside them. Bondi and Ghërkinn, and Big Trev and Pounce surf the wave back to the beach. They join Sandy and the other cadets.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville say, POUNCE, GHĂ‹RKINN!
Sandy asks, ARE YOU GUYS OKAY?
Pounce looks embarrassed.
He says, I'M OKAY.
Ghërkinn says, I SAW MY WHOLE LIFE FLASHING
BEFORE MY EYES.
SO MUCH MINI GOLF.
Sandy says, COME ON, WE BETTER GIVE THESE
GUYS A CHECK OVER.
At headquarters, Ghërkinn says, AND THEN I WAS RESCUED BY A
GIANT RED BUNNY RABBIT IN A
FUNNY LITTLE HAT.
Bondi says, HUH?
He frowns.
[Frizzy, Gemma and Neville laughing]
Ghërkinn says, TRUE STORY!
Sandy says, YEP, HE SEEMS PERFECTLY
NORMAL TO ME.
Frizzy says, GREAT.
THEN YOU'RE ALL INVITED TO MY
LATEST MUSICAL.
GONE WITH THE WAVES.
THIS WAY!
Neville cheers, WHOO-HOO!
[Gemma giggling]
Bondi joins Pounce and Big Trev by the window.
Bondi asks, YOU OKAY, POUNCE?
I THOUGHT YOU WERE CONFIDENT IN
THE WAVES.
Pounce looks embarrassed.
He says, I'M NOT, I WAS PRETENDING TO
BE OKAY ALL DAY, BUT REALLY I'M
AFRAID OF BIG WAVES.
Big Trev says, SOUNDS A LOT LIKE SOMEONE I
USED TO KNOW.
SOMEONE WHO'S NOW ONE OF OUR
BEST LIFE GUARDS.
Bondi looks away. Big Trev leaves him and Pounce on the window bench.
Pounce says, REALLY?
WHO?
Bondi says, ME.
He takes a seat beside Pounce.
[Pounce gasping]
Pounce says, NO WAY.
Bondi says, WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE, I WAS
AFRAID OF BIG WAVES, BUT THE
CHIEF LIFE GUARD NOTICED I WAS
AFRAID AND HE OFFERED TO HELP ME
GET COMFORTABLE IN THE WATER.
Pounce says, WHOA, WAS THAT BIG TREV?
Bondi says, SURE WAS.
HE WAS THE ONE WHO HELPED ME GET
OVER MY FEAR.
Pounce says, HOW?
I'M SO SCARED WHEN A BIG WAVE
COMES TOWARDS ME, I JUST WANT TO
TURN AND RUN AWAY.
Bondi says, FEELINGS ARE LIKE WAVES,
POUNCE, TURNING YOUR BACK ON
THEM WON'T MAKE THEM GO AWAY.
YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES THE BRAVEST
THING A TRUE 'ROO CAN DO IS ASK
FOR HELP.
Pounce looks away.
He asks, COULD YOU HELP ME, BONDI?
Bondi says, YEAH, 'COURSE, AND THEN MAYBE
ONE DAY YOU'LL BE WORKING
ALONGSIDE ME ON KANGAROO BEACH,
HEY?
Pounce says, TRUE 'ROO?
Bondi says, TRUE 'ROO.
He bumps his fist against Pounces. They look out the window together. Bondi puts his arm around Pounce. Elsewhere in headquarters, Big Trev stands between Neville and Gemma.
Big Trev quietly asks, HAS IT STARTED YET?
[Neville and Gemma shushing Bit Trev]
Big Trev says, OOH, SORRY.
A light shines on Frizzy as she jumps onto the table. She dances in front of the three lifeguards, the other cadets, and Ghërkinn.
[Cheerful upbeat music plays]
Frizzy wears sunglasses as she dances on the table.
Frizzy sings, WHEN YOU GET HIT WITH EMOTION
IT'S LIKE WAVES IN THE OCEAN
LET THEM FLOW!
THEY COME AND GO!
EVERYBODY NOW!
Frizzy’s audience nods to the music.
They sing, LET THE WAVES FLOW
THEY COME AND GO.
Frizzy sings, OOH!

[Neville, Pounce and Gemma exhaling]
Neville says, THAT'S REALLY CATCHY!
The junior cadets follow Bondi into the ocean.
Together, the cadets sing, ONE ROBOT OCTOPUS ARM
IN THE SEA!
ONE ROBOT OCTOPUS ARM!
YOU SHAKE IT 'ROUND,
WRESTLE AROUND,
NO ROBOT OCTOPUS ARMS
IN THE SEA.
The cadets stand in the waist deep water.
Bondi says, OKAY, CADETS, WE'RE DEEP
ENOUGH NOW.
LET'S HAVE A CRACK AT DIVING
UNDER OUR FIRST WAVE.
BIG TREV'LL BE NEARBY IF YOU
NEED HELP.
Big Trev waves from the beach.
He says, HERE I AM!
The cadets say, HI, BIG TREV!
They wave to Big Trev. Bondi hops further into the water.
He says, AND REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR
HANDS IN FRONT OF YOUR HEADS
WHEN YOU DIVE.
[Bondi inhaling]
Bondi dives under a wave crashing toward the beach. He swims underneath the wave, then pops out of the water on the other side.
He says, AH.
NOW YOU GIVE IT A GO.
A crashing wave rolls toward Gemma.
Gemma says, WATCH OUT, WAVES, HERE I
COME!
She looks determined. She dives forward as the wave reaches her.
[Frizzy and Neville yelling]
Gemma wails, WHOA!
The crashing waves reaches Frizzy and Neville.
The three cadets yell, WHOA!
The wave carries them through the water. Closer to shore, Pounce looks worried. The wave grows smaller as it rolls toward the beach.
[Pounce yelping]
Pounce hops over the wave.
[Gemma, Frizzy and Neville panting]
Pounce looks scared. Gemma, Frizzy and Neville pop up from the water behind Pounce.
Frizzy says, OKAY, THAT WAS HARD.
Neville asks, DID YOU DIVE UNDER IT,
POUNCE?
Pounce says, UH, NAH, IT WAS TOO SMALL FOR
ME.
I'LL WAIT FOR A BIGGER ONE.
[Neville gasping]
Neville says, LIKE THAT ONE?
He points to the water.
Bondi calls out, SWIM TOWARDS THE WAVE AND
DIVE UNDER!
YOU CAN DO IT!
A tall wave rolls toward the cadets.
Gemma says, COME ON, POUNCE, LET'S SHOW
THIS WAVE WHO'S BOSS.
Frizzy and Neville follow her into the water as the wave grows taller.
[Nervous shouting]
Neville yells, WOAH!
The wave crashes and carries Gemma, Frizzy and Neville back toward the beach. Pounce looks scared. He hops away from the wave and onto the beach. He hops past Big Trev.
Big Trev says, HM, OH DEAR.
Neville, Gemma and Frizzy lie on the beach.
[Neville, Gemma and Frizzy panting]
Pounce hops over to his friends. He smiles confidently. Big Trev walks up beside him.
He says, DIDN'T FEEL LIKE DIVING, POUNCE?
Pounce’s eyes widen and he looks away.
He says, NAH, I'VE DIVED UNDER SO MANY
WAVES BEFORE, IT'S…EASY PEASY!
Big Trev says, HM.
[Panting]
Frizzy says, EASY PEASY?
MORE LIKE IMPOSSIBLE WOSSIBLE.
Neville says, I KEEP GETTING DUNKED.
CAN YOU TEACH US, POUNCE?
Bondi joins the cadets on the beach.
He says, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA.
YOU CAN SHOW 'EM HOW IT'S DONE,
POUNCE.
Pounce looks nervous.
He says, I, I GUESS I COULD.
Bondi says, GREAT, I'LL BE ON PATROL IF
YOU NEED ME, BUT YOU'LL BE FINE.
YOU'RE BRAVE AND STRONG, A TRUE
'ROO.
He leaves the cadets.
Pounce says, TRUE 'ROO…
Frizzy says, WE'RE READY!
Gemma says, JUMP IN AND SHOW US HOW IT'S
DONE!
Neville says, WE'LL WATCH!
Pounce says, UH, NO, NO, NO.
YOU HAVE TO LEARN SOME OTHER
THINGS FIRST.
IMPORTANT THINGS.
Gemma asks, LIKE WHAT?
Elsewhere on the beach, Gemma and Frizzy practice swimming on land.
Pounce says, SWIM, SWIM, SWIM, WAVE!
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville balance on beach balls as they practice swimming. Neville wobbles on his beach ball.
Neville says, UHH.
Gemma asks, CAN WE GET IN THE WATER NOW?
Neville slips and rolls head first off his beach ball.
Neville yells, WHOA!
[Neville grunting]
Pounce says, UH, NOT YET.
The cadets look at a big rising wave.
Neville wails, AH, IT'S TOO REAL!
In the Kangaroo Beach lifeguard headquarters, the cadets watch the rising wave on a large monitor.
Pounce says, ON MY MARK…
DIVE!
With their paws in the air, Frizzy, Neville and Gemma dive onto the floor. Pounce flinches and covers his eyes.
Neville yells, WOAH!
[Frizzy, Neville and Gemma grunting]
The wave on the monitor crashes onto the water. Gemma stands up.
She asks, CAN WE GET IN THE WATER NOW?
Pounce says, UM, NO, THERE'S STILL MORE
SERIOUS TRAINING TO DO.
On Kangaroo Beach, Gemma stands with her arms out.
All the cadets say, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE!
They wiggle on the spot.
They cheer, WHOO!
One of the cadets cheers, OH YEAH!
[Cadets laughing]
Neville cheers, ALRIGHT!
YES!
Frizzy cheers, COOL!
Gemma cheers, WHOO-HOO!
Pounce cheers, OH YEAH!
In a nearby lifeguard post, Bondi lowers his binoculars. He smiles and looks at the cadets on the beach.
The cadets cheer, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE, WAVE!
Gemma says, UH, HOW IS THIS SERIOUS
TRAINING?
Pounce dramatically explains, TO DIVE INTO THE WAVE, YOU
MUST FIRST BECOME THE WAVE.
Frizzy spreads out her arms.
She says, I'M A WAVE, WAVING.
She dances with her arms out.
[Frizzy giggling]
Gemma asks, CAN WE PLEASE PRACTICE DIVING
IN SOME REAL WAVES NOW?
Frizzy dances across the beach.
She says, YEAH, DON'T YOU WANT TO GO IN
THE OCEAN, POUNCE?
Pounce says, I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO FORCE
YOU WHEN YOU WEREN'T READY.
Gemma says, WE'RE READY!
Neville asks, ARE WE?
Frizzy says, READY!
WAVE CRASH!
She jumps and squishes a sand castle.
[Frizzy laughing]
At the water’s edge, a gentle wave rolls onto the beach. Pounce lifts his foot away from the water. He looks at the wave nervously. The others join him.
Pounce says, OKAY, WHO WANTS TO GO FIRST?
Gemma says, YOU SHOW US HOW IT'S DONE SO
WE CAN LEARN FROM THE ABSOLUTE
BEST.
Nearby, Ghërkinn says, EXCUSE ME, ARE YOU LEARNING
HOW TO DO THE WAVES?
I'D LIKE TO JOIN.
Pounce looks thoughtful.
He says, SURE!
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DIVE, GHĂ‹RKINN?
Ghërkinn says, OF COURSE, I'M AN OTTER?
[Ghërkinn snorting]
Ghërkinn says, AND
I'VE BEEN WORKING ON A NEW
SPECIAL DIVING METHOD, THE
MAJESTIC MER-GHĂ‹RKINN!
IT'S A MERMAID CROSSED WITH ME,
GHĂ‹RKINN, GET IT?
Pounce says, GREAT, HOW ABOUT YOU SHOW US
AND, UH, I CAN GIVE YOU SOME
POINTERS.
[Ghërkinn giggling]
Ghërkinn excitedly runs to the water.
Frizzy says, BUT I WANT TO SEE YOU DO IT,
POUNCE.
Neville says, YEAH, YOU'RE THE EXPERT,
POUNCE.
Gemma says, YEAH, AND WHEN DO WE GET A
GO?
Pounce says, SOON, SOON, DEFINITELY.
[Ghërkinn giggling]
A big wave crashes toward Ghërkinn.
Ghërkinn says, MER-GHËRKINN!
He dives toward the wave. Pounce frowns.
Gemma cheers, HE DID IT!
Frizzy cheers, WOO-HOO!
Neville cheers, GO, GERKIN!
Ghërkinn rises from the water on the other side of the wave.
[Ghërkinn chuckling]
Ghërkinn looks back at the cadets.
He says, YOO-HOO!
He waves to the cadets as another big wave rises behind him. Ghërkinn turns and looks at the wave.
Ghërkinn says, OH, MY GOODNESS.
The wave crashes over Ghërkinn.
Neville yells, OH, NO!
[Ghërkinn coughing]
Ghërkinn rises from the water. He waves his arms frantically.
[Ghërkinn grunting]
Another wave crashes over Ghërkinn.
Ghërkinn yells, HELP!
HELP, CADETLETS!
The four junior cadets look worried. Pounce speaks into his radio.
He says, SOUND THE ALARM!
LIFE GUARDS TO THE RESCUE!
[Alarm blaring]
[Upbeat music plays]
In a montage, the Kangaroo Beach lifeguards prepare for rescue with radios, first aid kits, and rescue boards. The travel in their rescue vehicles, a helicopter, boat, submarine and golf cart. The junior cadets gather, ready for action, and pose.
[Wave crashing]
Bondi hops over to Pounce with rescue boards.
Pounce says, HE'S OVER THERE!
Bondi says, I SEE HIM.
[Ghërkinn wailing]
Bondi asks, WANT TO JOIN ME, POUNCE?
I COULD DO WITH ANOTHER TRUE
'ROO OUT THERE.
He puts down the smaller rescue board and hops into the water.
Pounce nervously says, UH...
Gemma says, COOL!
Frizzy says, YEAH, DO IT, POUNCE!
Neville says, YOU'RE GREAT IN THE WAVES!
Pounce looks worried. In the water, he rides the small rescue board beside Bondi.
Bondi says, STAY CLOSE.
Pounce says, OKAY…
Bondi paddles past Pounce toward a wave lifting Ghërkinn.
[Ghërkinn whimpering]
Ghërkinn wails, HELP, HELP!
The wave crashes and drops Ghërkinn.
[Ghërkinn panting]
Bondi rides his board through the wave. Pounce looks scared as the wave rolls toward him.
He says, STEADY.
[Pounce whimpering]
The wave knocks Pounce off his board.
Pounce yells, AHH!
Pounce pops up from the water.
[Pounce gasping]
Pounce turns and looks at another large wave rising in the distance.
[Pounce hyperventilating]
[Pounce gasping]
The wave crashes over Pounce. On the beach, Big Trev runs into the water with a rescue board. Pounce pops out of the water. He spits out water.
[Pounce panting]
[Ghërkinn yelping]
Bondi paddles up to Ghërkinn
Bondi says, GOTCHA, CHAMP.
He pulls Ghërkinn onto the rescue board.
Bondi says, YOU'RE ALRIGHT.
Nearby, Pounce looks scared.
[Pounce panting]
Pounce yells, HELP!
Bondi spots Pounce in the water.
Bondi says, POUNCE?
Big Trev reaches Pounce on the rescue board. Pounce grabs the board.
[Pounce wailing]
Big Trev says, NEED A HAND?
I GOT YOU.
He pulls Pounce onto the board. Behind them, Bondi rides down a wave with Ghërkinn. Big Trev paddles up beside them. Bondi and Ghërkinn, and Big Trev and Pounce surf the wave back to the beach. They join Sandy and the other cadets.
Gemma, Frizzy and Neville say, POUNCE, GHĂ‹RKINN!
Sandy asks, ARE YOU GUYS OKAY?
Pounce looks embarrassed.
He says, I'M OKAY.
Ghërkinn says, I SAW MY WHOLE LIFE FLASHING
BEFORE MY EYES.
SO MUCH MINI GOLF.
Sandy says, COME ON, WE BETTER GIVE THESE
GUYS A CHECK OVER.
At headquarters, Ghërkinn says, AND THEN I WAS RESCUED BY A
GIANT RED BUNNY RABBIT IN A
FUNNY LITTLE HAT.
Bondi says, HUH?
He frowns.
[Frizzy, Gemma and Neville laughing]
Ghërkinn says, TRUE STORY!
Sandy says, YEP, HE SEEMS PERFECTLY
NORMAL TO ME.
Frizzy says, GREAT.
THEN YOU'RE ALL INVITED TO MY
LATEST MUSICAL.
GONE WITH THE WAVES.
THIS WAY!
Neville cheers, WHOO-HOO!
[Gemma giggling]
Bondi joins Pounce and Big Trev by the window.
Bondi asks, YOU OKAY, POUNCE?
I THOUGHT YOU WERE CONFIDENT IN
THE WAVES.
Pounce looks embarrassed.
He says, I'M NOT, I WAS PRETENDING TO
BE OKAY ALL DAY, BUT REALLY I'M
AFRAID OF BIG WAVES.
Big Trev says, SOUNDS A LOT LIKE SOMEONE I
USED TO KNOW.
SOMEONE WHO'S NOW ONE OF OUR
BEST LIFE GUARDS.
Bondi looks away. Big Trev leaves him and Pounce on the window bench.
Pounce says, REALLY?
WHO?
Bondi says, ME.
He takes a seat beside Pounce.
[Pounce gasping]
Pounce says, NO WAY.
Bondi says, WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE, I WAS
AFRAID OF BIG WAVES, BUT THE
CHIEF LIFE GUARD NOTICED I WAS
AFRAID AND HE OFFERED TO HELP ME
GET COMFORTABLE IN THE WATER.
Pounce says, WHOA, WAS THAT BIG TREV?
Bondi says, SURE WAS.
HE WAS THE ONE WHO HELPED ME GET
OVER MY FEAR.
Pounce says, HOW?
I'M SO SCARED WHEN A BIG WAVE
COMES TOWARDS ME, I JUST WANT TO
TURN AND RUN AWAY.
Bondi says, FEELINGS ARE LIKE WAVES,
POUNCE, TURNING YOUR BACK ON
THEM WON'T MAKE THEM GO AWAY.
YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES THE BRAVEST
THING A TRUE 'ROO CAN DO IS ASK
FOR HELP.
Pounce looks away.
He asks, COULD YOU HELP ME, BONDI?
Bondi says, YEAH, 'COURSE, AND THEN MAYBE
ONE DAY YOU'LL BE WORKING
ALONGSIDE ME ON KANGAROO BEACH,
HEY?
Pounce says, TRUE 'ROO?
Bondi says, TRUE 'ROO.
He bumps his fist against Pounces. They look out the window together. Bondi puts his arm around Pounce. Elsewhere in headquarters, Big Trev stands between Neville and Gemma.
Big Trev quietly asks, HAS IT STARTED YET?
[Neville and Gemma shushing Bit Trev]
Big Trev says, OOH, SORRY.
A light shines on Frizzy as she jumps onto the table. She dances in front of the three lifeguards, the other cadets, and Ghërkinn.
[Cheerful upbeat music plays]
Frizzy wears sunglasses as she dances on the table.
Frizzy sings, WHEN YOU GET HIT WITH EMOTION
IT'S LIKE WAVES IN THE OCEAN
LET THEM FLOW!
THEY COME AND GO!
EVERYBODY NOW!
Frizzy’s audience nods to the music.
They sing, LET THE WAVES FLOW
THEY COME AND GO.
Frizzy sings, OOH!
Everyone sings, LET THEM FLOW
THEY COME AND GO,
Frizzy sings, OOH!
Sandy says, I’M DIGGING IT!
Frizzy sings, WOO, LET THEM FLOW!
[Upbeat music plays]
