I Wonder Why?

Leaves

Question: I wonder why leaves change colours Perimeter Scientist: Kevin Donkers Kevin Donkers explains to Alex that leaves have all different colours in them; orange, green and red but the green colour, because of the chlorophyll, dominates the leaf during the Spring and Summer. Chlorophyll takes in sunlight and gives the tree food. In the fall, when the tree starts to hibernate, the chlorophyll breaks down and the green colour disappears from the leaves, all that is left are the yellow and red colours.
