An animated clip shows a big orange X on a blue background. It explodes and letters and numbers come out of it in all directions and float around.

Mathemagician Eric appears on screen. He’s in his mid-twenties. He has short dark brown hair and a beard. He wears a red T-shirt with the show’s logo, blue jeans and red Tennis shoes.

The screen turns red and the logo of the show appears next. It reads "MathXplosion." Meanwhile, cones, cubes and dices float around it.

Kids voices sing a song with lyrics that go
WHAT A HIT
IT'S NOT A TRICK
IT'S MATHXPLOSION
JUST FOR YOU
COOL AND NEW
MATHXPLOSION!

The episode starts with Eric standing in a workroom.

Eric says SO I'VE BEEN THINKING THAT
WHILE I REALLY DO ENJOY MY
NAME, ERIC, THAT I MIGHT BE
MORE SUITED TO A NAME LIKE...
OTTO, OR WHAT ABOUT
BOB, OR RENNER?

Eric shows a series of stickers that work as name tags.

He says MAYBE SOME OF YOU HAVE PICKED
UP ON MY LATEST PASSION...
PALINDROMES.
WORDS THAT CAN BE SPELLED THE
SAME FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS.
LIKE RACECAR,
KAYAK, OR RADAR.

The screen shows the captions for the words "RACECAR, KAYAK and RADAR."

Next, he says HMM, CHECK THIS OUT.

(music plays)

He plays with cards. When flipping them around, he forms the word KAYAK.

He says PALINDROME.
PALINDROMES EXIST IN MANY
LANGUAGES, AND EVEN IN
NUMBERS, TOO.
IN FACT, I'LL SHOW YOU AN
AMAZING TRICK THAT CAN TURN
ANY NUMBER INTO
A PALINDROME.

(music plays)

Eric appears sitting on the floor.

He says HERE'S A FEW EXAMPLES
OF PALINDROMIC NUMBERS.
NUMBERS THAT ARE READ THE
SAME WHETHER FORWARDS
OR BACKWARDS.
LIKE:

He writes down the numbers 171, 25952, 4994 and 33.

He says PALINDROMES.
BUT HERE'S WHAT YOU
DO IF YOU DON'T HAVE A
PALINDROMIC NUMBER
TO START WITH.
TAKE THE DIGITS, IN THIS
CASE, 261, AND REVERSE THEM
SO YOU HAVE 162.
ADD THEM TOGETHER
TO GET 423.

He makes the maths next to the previous numbers and comes up with 423.

Next, he says OKAY, SO THAT'S STILL
NOT A PALINDROME.
BUT REVERSE THOSE DIGITS
AGAIN, IN THIS CASE IT'S 324,
AND ADD IT TO
423, TO GET 747.

The new number is written in the end.

He says AND THERE YOU HAVE
IT, PALINDROME.
JUST REMEMBER, ALL YOU HAVE
TO DO IS ADD THE REVERSE OF
THE NUMBER TO THE NUMBER,
AND YOU KEEP DOING THAT
UNTIL YOU GET A PALINDROME.
THE COOLEST THING IS THAT
THIS WORKS WITH EVERY NUMBER.

(music plays)

Eric draws a circle and colours it inside. He taps on it and a new clip plays.

He says 2002 IS A
PALINDROMIC YEAR.
FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS,
THE NUMBERS ARE THE SAME.
AND HERE'S ANOTHER ONE,
MAY 10, 2015, WHICH IS:

The number 2002 appears on screen. Both zeroes in the middle are blue while the others are red. Next. the board on screen changes to "May 10, 2015." The numbers switch places and still indicate the same date, in a different format.

Eric appears back in the workroom with all stickers in his T-shirt.

He says 2002, OR BOB, WHETHER IT'S A
PALINDROMIC WORD OR NUMBER,
REMEMBER, THEY ARE THE SAME
FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS.
SO AMAZE YOUR FRIENDS AND
FAMILY WITH A FEW SIMPLE
CALCULATIONS TO COME UP WITH
YOUR OWN NUMBER PALINDROMES.
AND REMEMBER, IT'S
NOT MAGIC, IT'S MATH.

A big explosion brings the show’s logo back on the screen.

The end credits roll.
