Child crying, WHEE!

(Child giggling)

(Music playing)

Ella, an animated girl with curly black hair under a blue helmet with bear ears, runs downstairs holding a rocket ship. She gives the rocket to her little sister, Tilly.

(Giggling)

Singing, COME WITH ME TO THE STARS. THE GALAXY IS OURS! LET'S GO! LOOK AT ALL THE WONDER. INTER-STELLAR! LOOK UP SO MUCH SPLENDOUR, INTER-STELLAR! LOOK OUT FOR ADVENTURE.

Ella and her friend, Slippy, fly through space.

Singing, COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY! LOOK UP! INTERSTELLAR ELLA!

Title: TVOKIDS presents, Interstellar Ella.

(Music playing)

Ella and Slippy fly their scooters over the cratered surface of a moon. Madhu, the blue and green alien, flies alongside them.

Ella says, LET'S SPLIT UP AND LOOK SEPARATELY. WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME.

(Music playing)

They fly in different directions, scanning the surface of the moon. Ella flies down into a large crater. She stops on the edge of an even deeper crater.

Ella asks, MAGGIE, WHAT IS THIS PLACE?

Maggie appears as a floating blue star hologram.

Maggie says, THIS HOLE IS PART OF THE ANTONIADI CRATER. TECHNICALLY, A CRATER WITHIN A CRATER. THE BOTTOM IS NINE KILOMETRES BELOW THE MOON'S SURFACE.

Ella says, NINE KILOMETRES DEEP? IT COULD BE HIDING DOWN THERE. LET'S GO!

Ella steers her scooter downwards.

Maggie says, ELLA, THE MUSEUM IS OPENING IN 3 HOURS. WE SHOULD BE RETURNING HOME.

A bubble appears showing Slippy. He looks excited.

Slippy says, I THINK I FOUND IT.

Ella says, WAIT RIGHT THERE. I'M COMING.

(Music playing)

Ella flies up.

Slippy pulls a lever on his scooter.

(Engine starting)

A mechanical arm extends and begins dusting off a wheel-shaped object buried in dust on the moon’s surface. Madhu peers over Ella and Slippy’s shoulders/

Madhu says, WHOO! ACHOO!

Madhu sneezes and blows the dust off of the metal wheel.

Ella cries, YES, YES, YES! THE WHEEL. JUST IN TIME FOR THE OPENING. DAD WILL BE SO EXCITED.

(Music playing)

A floating holographic sign reads “welcome” in several languages. Dad stands on a purple carpet in front of large holographic bubbles showing historical images. He has short brown hair under grey cap and wears an orange and grey jumpsuit.

Dad says, WELCOME TO MY LUNAR EXPLORATION MUSEUM. SO HAPPY YOU COULD JOIN US FOR OPENING DAY.

He mimes shaking hands.

Dad says, ELLA, THERE YOU ARE. DID YOU MANAGE TO FINISH EVERYTHING?

Ella says, SURE DID.

Dad asks, ANTI-GRAV BUBBLES WORK? POPCORN IS POPPED? TICKET SCANNING, ROBOTS FRIENDLY ENOUGH?

Ella says, WORKING, POPPED AND THE FRIENDLIEST. WE EVEN HAD TIME FOR A LAST-MINUTE SEARCH. LOOK WHAT SLIPPY FOUND.

Ella takes the wheel out from behind her back.

Dad says, THE MISSING WHEEL? YOU KIDS. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. JUST IN TIME FOR THE OPENING. INCREDIBLE.

Madhu says, YES! WHEELS ARE THE BEST. I LOVE WHEELS. SO ROUND, SO SPINNY.

(Dad chuckles)

Dad says, THIS ISN'T JUST ANY WHEEL, MADHU. THIS WHEEL BELONGS TO THE CROWNING GLORY OF MY MUSEUM. THE FIRST EVER ROBOTIC MOON ROVER, THE LUNOKHOD ONE. KIND OF LIKE GLITCH'S GREAT, GREAT, GRANDDAD.

(Glitch beeping)

The rover floats in a bubble. Glitch waves up at it.

Maggie says, ACTUALLY, THIS WHEEL IS OVER A THOUSAND YEARS OLD, SO IN HUMAN TERMS, IT WOULD BE GLITCH'S GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT GRANDFATHER.

Dad presses controls and the bubble dissolves, lowering the rover gently to the ground.

Dad says, THANK YOU, MAGGIE. WHO WOULD LIKE TO DO THE HONOURS?

Slippy looks at Ella.

Slippy says, THE SEARCH WAS YOUR IDEA. YOU GO.

(Music playing)

Ella takes the wheel and walks to the rover. It has seven wheels, with one empty spot for the eighth. Ella fits the wheel in place and tries to push it in.

(Rattling)

Dad asks, NEED A LITTLE HELP THERE?

Ella says, NOPE. ALL DONE. SEE?

(Ringing)

Dad says, OH, NO. MOM NEEDS ME ON EARTH, BUT I STILL HAVEN'T FINISHED PROGRAMMING ALL THE INFO PODS.

Ella says, DON'T WORRY. WE CAN DO THAT. GO HELP. MOM.

Dad says, YOU'RE A LIFESAVER. THANK YOU. I'LL BE BACK BEFORE THE OPENING.

Dad runs off.

(Music playing)

Dad flies on a spaceship towards Earth.

Ella presses a tablet and touches a floating display. An image of a probe appears.

Maggie says, THIS IS JAPAN'S FIRST LUNAR PROBE, HITEN. IT CRASHED HERE IN 1993.

Ella looks at the tablet.

Ella says, I'VE DONE MINE.

Slippy presses another display.

Maggie says, THIS FEATHER WAS USED TO TEST NEWTON'S 1687 LAW OF GRAVITY.

Slippy calls, THIS ONE'S DONE, TOO.

Ella says, AWESOME! ALL THAT'S LEFT IS THE LUNOKHOD ONE, AND WE'RE DONE.

Ella looks up at the rover. The wheel she attached leans to one side.

Ella cries, OH, NO! THAT WHEEL ISN'T ON RIGHT.

Slippy says, I CAN HELP.

Slippy takes the tablet and uses it to lower the rover to the ground.

(Music playing)

Maggie says, THE LUNOKHOD ONE WAS THE FIRST UNMANNED LUNAR ROVER BUILT IN 1970. IT'S AN EXCELLENT EARLY EXAMPLE OF SOLAR ENERGY.

Slippy kneels by the wheel.

(Glitch beeping)

Slippy says, YOU'RE RIGHT, GLITCH. THAT’S THE ENERGY THAT POWERED YOU TOO. NEAT!

Ella says, WAIT. IF IT'S POWERED BY SUNLIGHT, THAT MEANS WE CAN MAKE THE ROVER WORK AGAIN.

Slippy says, MAYBE… BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW THE OLD TECH WOULD REACT.

Ella says, PLEEEASE. IT WOULD BE THE BEST OPENING DAY PRESENT EVER FOR MY DAD. THE COOLEST EXHIBIT HERE WOULD BE EVEN COOLER.

Madhu says, OH! AND A MOVING ROVER WOULD MAKE PEOPLE SO HAPPY.

(Glitch beeping)

Slippy says, OKAY, SURE. WE'LL GIVE IT A TRY. GLITCH, GIVE ME A HAND WITH THIS.

Slippy lifts Glitch onto the rover. Glitch opens a panel and begins adjusting wires.

(Sparking)

Slippy calls, GREAT WORK, GLITCH!

Slippy turns a wrench.

Slippy says, AND DONE. AND NOW ONE GIANT LEAP FOR ROBOT KIND.

Rover rolls forward.

All shout, YEAH!

(Engine dies)

The rover stops.

(Glitch beeping)

Glitch turns back to the open panel. The rover suddenly speeds forward. Ella, Slippy and Madhu dive out of the way.

Slippy cries, OH NO!

Ella cries, DAD’S ROVER!

(Music playing)

The rover drives away with Glitch on top of it. Ella and her friends fly after it.

(Glitch beeping)

Slippy says, HE SAYS HE CAN STEER A LITTLE, BUT HE CAN'T GET IT TO STOP.

Ella says, IT'S UP TO US, THEN.

Madhu asks, MAYBE WE SHOULD COM-BUBBLE YOUR DAD.

Ella says, GLITCH IS IN TROUBLE, AND DAD'S ALL THE WAY ON EARTH. WE CAN FIX THIS.

Madhu calls, GLITCH, YOU'RE DOING SO GREAT! LOVE ALL THE WHEEL SPINNING.

(Beeping)

Ella asks, IS HE EXCITED OR SCARED?

Slippy says, SCARED. DEFINITELY SCARED.

The rover speeds toward the lip of a crater. It jumps over the crater and flies toward the other side.

Slippy cries, HE'S NOT GOING TO MAKE IT!

Madhu says, I CAN’T LOOK.

Ella calls, I'M COMING GLITCH.

Ella bumps her scooter against the rover. It lands on the other side and rolls off, going even faster.

Ella says, WHAT? WHY DID THEY SPEED UP?

Maggie says, DUE TO LOW GRAVITY AND LACK OF AIR ON EARTH'S MOON, THERE IS A MINIMAL FRICTION TO SLOW OBJECTS IN MOTION. NEWTON'S THIRD LAW STATES THAT EVERY ACTION FORCE HAS AN EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION FORCE.

Ella asks, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Maggie says, THE ROVER IS MOVING FASTER BECAUSE YOU BUMPED IT. IT WILL NOT SLOW DOWN WITHOUT OUTSIDE FORCES APPLIED. ALSO, I AM UNSURE IF THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO MENTION IT, BUT THE MUSEUM WILL OPEN IN LESS THAN AN HOUR.

Ella says, MAYBE NOT THE BEST TIME.

Ella flies off.

Madhu says, I THOUGHT IT WAS HELPFUL, MAGGIE.

(Suspenseful music playing)

Slippy calls, GLITCH, AIM FOR THE GRAVELLY BIT.

Glitch steers the rover.

Ella says, BUT THAT'LL DAMAGE THE ROVER.

Slippy says, IT'LL ALSO SLOW IT DOWN WITH FRICTION.

The rover drives over a plain strewn with small rocks. The wheels bump over them.

(Rattling)

The wheel Ella attached flies off. Ella flies after it and catches it.

(Music playing)

Glitch clutches a steering stick. It comes off.

(Glitch beeping)

Slippy says, HE SAYS HE'S LOST ALL CONTROL!

The rover speeds toward a huge crater.

Ella says, OH NO, I RECOGNIZE THIS PLACE.

Slippy says, THAT SOUNDS BAD. IS THAT BAD?

Maggie says, GLITCH IS HEADING FOR THE ANTONIADI CRATER. IT IS 143,000 METERS WIDE AND NINE KILOMETRES DEEP AT ITS LOWEST POINT.

Slippy cries, THEY'RE TOAST IF THEY GO OVER!

Ella says, ISN'T THERE ANY WAY TO CUT POWER?

Slippy says, IT'S SOLAR POWERED. YOU CAN’T CUT POWER FROM THE SUN.

(Beeping)

Madhu says, YOU KNOW, I'VE CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT WHEELS. THE SPINNING CAN BE A BIT MUCH SOMETIMES.

Ella and Slippy jump off their scooters and run up the sloping edge of the crater.

Ella says, COME ON, LET'S PULL THEM AWAY FROM THE CRATER.

They grab the rover and pull. The rover teeters on the edge.

Madhu says, THE WHEELS ARE WORKING AGAINST US. WHAT DID WE EVER DO TO THEM?

Slippy says, MADHU’S RIGHT. WE'RE JUST NOT STRONG ENOUGH.

Ella says, NO, WE CAN DO IT. MAGGIE, WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?

Maggie says, ELLA, I AM NOT SURE THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN DO.

Madhu says, WE NEED HELP, ELLA. THAT'S OKAY.

(Ella sighing)

(Music playing)

A spaceship uses cables to lift the rover off the edge of the crater.

(Glitch beeping)

The rover is set down in the museum. Glitch hops off and rolls to Slippy. He hugs Glitch.

Slippy says, NEVER SCARE ME LIKE THAT AGAIN.

Dad walks over to Ella. She holds out the wheel. He takes it and fits it back onto the rover.

Dad says, HMM. HMM?

Ella hands him a screwdriver.

Ella says, DAD, I'M SO SORRY FOR ALMOST DESTROYING THE LUNOKHOD. I KNOW IT'S YOUR FAVOURITE, AND I'LL UNDERSTAND IF YOU NEVER, EVER LEAVE ME IN CHARGE OF ANYTHING EVER AGAIN. I FEEL SO BAD FOR EVERYTHING.

Dad hugs Ella.

Dad says, I'M NOT UPSET, ELLA. I'M JUST GLAD YOU CALLED ME. IT'S OKAY TO ASK FOR HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HANDLE EVERY PROBLEM ON YOUR OWN. I'M ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU, OKAY.

Ella says, OKAY, DAD.

Dad says, NOW THEN, WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO THE HONOURS?

Ella says, OF COURSE.

Ella finishes attaching the wheel. Her dad helps her.

(Music playing)

Ella asks, SHOULD WE TURN THE BUBBLE ON NOW?

Dad says, ACTUALLY, NO BUBBLE FOR THIS ONE.

Dad presses a tablet.

(Engine turning on)

The rover backs up and turns around.

Ella cries, YOU GOT IT TO WORK RIGHT!

Dad says, I WAS INSPIRED BY YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS. IT WAS A GREAT IDEA, AND I THINK IT ADDS A LOT. ALSO…

Dad presses a display.

Maggie says, THE LUNOKHOD ONE WAS THE FIRST UNMANNED LUNAR ROVER. IT ARRIVED IN 1970 BUT HAD ITS FINAL ADVENTURE QUITE RECENTLY.

(Ella giggling)

Maggie says, IT DID INDEED, INFO MAGGIE. ONE MINUTE TO OPENING.

Ella asks, ARE WE READY?

Dad says, READY AS WE NEED TO BE. WANT TO GO OPEN UP THE DOORS A MINUTE EARLY?

Ella says, DO I?

Ella runs. Slippy kneels and presses his hands into the ground.

Madhu asks, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Slippy says, LEAVING OUR MARK ON THE MOON. IN A THOUSAND YEARS SOMEONE COULD PUT THIS IN A MUSEUM.

Slippy leaves handprints in the dust. Madhu presses their hands in the dust.

Madhu says, OOH!

Slippy says, GLITCH, YOU TOO.

(Beeping)

Glitch rolls over the dust, leaving tracks.

(Madhu and Slippy laughing)

(Music playing)

Singing, COME WITH ME TO THE STARS. THE GALAXY IS OURS! LET'S GO! LOOK AT ALL THE WONDER. INTER-STELLAR! LOOK UP SO MUCH SPLENDOUR, INTER-STELLAR! LOOK OUT FOR ADVENTURE. COME EXPLORE THE MILKY WAY! LOOK UP! INTERSTELLAR ELLA!
