[Happy music plays]

Text reads, “TVOkids and ABC presents Big Words. Small Stories. An animated bus drives past a grassy hill.

Children say, BIG WORDS. SMALL STORIES.

A child says, SCRATCHY SNOW DAY.

Davey, a boy with short black hair, wears a blue and orange touque and yellow shirt. Text reads, “Scratchy Snow Day. Written by Tim Bain.”

Snow covers the roof of a two-floor motor home. Davey opens a door and runs outside holding a wooden sled.

[Happy music plays, door opens]

Davey shouts, WOO-HOO!
SLED DAY! EXCITED, ABIGAIL?

ABIGAIL? COME ON, LET'S GO!

Abigail, a dog with long black hair, peeks through the doorway.

[Groans]

Abigail says, WINTER!
MY LEAST FAVORITE SEASON -
AFTER SWEATY SUMMER,
BIRD-TWEETY SPRING
AND PRICKLY-LEAF FALL!

Davey says, BUT IT'S SLEDDING DAY!
THE WIND IN OUR HAIR, THE BREEZE
IN OUR FACE...

Abigail says, THE SNOW ON MY
PAWS! UGH! I HATE THIS ICKY
COLD FEELING.

IT MAKES ME FEEL SO... SO...
UNCOMFORTABLE!

[Whoosing, honk, chime]

Four creatures with an antenna on each of their heads stand in front of a pink bus.

They shout, UNCOMFORTABLE!

Text reads, “Uncomfortable.” A winged woman with grey hair flies beside the word.

The winged woman says, UNCOMFORTABLE
MEANS A FEELING THAT BOTHERS YOU.
LIKE HOW ABIGAIL FEELS RIGHT NOW!

[Whoosh, ting]

Abigail says, IT'S LIKE MY PAWS
ARE TAKING A BATH IN A TUB FULL
OF ICE BLOCKS.

The winged woman says, OOH! WELL,
I'M OFF FOR A WINTER PLAYDATE -
COUPLES ICE-SKATING WITH
A SNOWMAN! ONWARDS, SPRINKLERS!

Davey says, I KNOW HOW YOU HATE
SNOW ON YOUR PAWS. WHICH IS WHY
I LEARNED TO KNIT! TO MAKE YOU
THESE BEAUTIES!

Davey proudly holds up purple mittens.

Abigail says, UH... THANKS... I GUESS.

Davey says, COME ON! THIS SLED
WON'T PUSH ITSELF DOWN A
SNOWY SLOPE!

Abigail says, UGH... SUPER ITCHY! EVEN
MORE UNCOMFORTABLE THAN SNOW
ON PAWS!

[Whooshing]

A woman holds a young child’s hand. The woman and child wear dark pink touques. The woman wears orange earmuffs, a pink scarf and coat. The girl wears a pink and blue coat over a red dress. The girl pulls a red and brown sled behind her.

The woman says, OH, ABIGAIL.
DAVEY'S BEEN SO EXCITED
TO GIVE YOU THOSE.
THAT MIGHT HURT HIS FEELINGS.

Abigail asks, MORE THAN THE
BOOTIES HURT MY TOES?

Davey asks, SO... DO YOU LOVE 'EM,
OR DO YOU LOVE 'EM?!

Abigail says, NEITHER. I--

Davey’s mouth drops open.

[Gasp, upbeat music plays]

Abigail says, ADORE THEM! SO
COMFORTABLE! LIKE WALKING
ON MARSHMALLOWS.

Davey says, I KNEW YOU'D LOVE 'EM!
LET'S GO!

[Quiet grumbling, upbeat music plays]

The woman says, COME ON, JUDY.

A pink antenna creature rolls a snowball as it follows Judy, the child with the pink touque.

[Panting]

Abilgail says, OUCH. OUCH. OUCH.

Davey asks, WHAT'S WRONG?
YOU HATE THE BOOTIES?

Abigail says, NO... I WAS SAYING,
UH... 'COUCH. COUCH. COUCH'
BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE I'M WALKING
ON A COMFY COUCH!

Davey says, GREAT!
'COS IT'S SIX MORE BLOCKS.

Abigail says, SIX BLOCKS?
NO THANKS!

[Whoosh, dramatic music plays, sliding]

Davey shouts, WAIT! ABIGAIL!
YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY.
HEY, IS SOMETHING WRONG?

Abigail says, I... UH...

Davey says, WAIT. I KNOW EXACTLY
WHAT'S WRONG! YOUR HEAD'S TOO
COLD! NO PROBLEM.

I'LL KNIT YOU EARMUFFS
AND A SCARF!

Abigail says, AH... DAVEY?
I NEED TO TELL YOU SOMETHING.

Davey asks, YES, ABIGAIL?

Abigail wears red earmuffs and a blue scarf with her purple mittens.

She says, YOU'RE THE BEST
FRIEND EVER!

Davey says, RIGHT BACK AT YA! LET'S GO!

[Upbeat music plays]

Abigail says, NOT ONLY ITCHY... TOO
TIGHT! LIKE HAVING MY HEAD
HUGGED BY FURRY LOBSTERS!

Abigail rides on the sled as Davey pulls it up a snowy hill.

Davey stops at the top of the hill and pushes the sled, with Abigail on it, down the other side.

Abigail says, WHOA... WHOA... WHOA!

The antenna creature notices the sled and leans protectively across its snowball.

The creature screams, AAAGH!

[Thud, groan]

Davey says, OOH, THAT LOOKS
UNCOMFORTABLE! BUT DON'T
WORRY - I HAVE A SOLUTION.

Text reads, “Uncomfortable.”

[Chime, upbeat music plays]

A pink body suit covers most of Abigail, with only her eyes showing. She wears a purple helmet. Davey pulls her uphill on the sled as she sits with her arms held straight out.

Davey says, TA-DAH! A HEAD-TO-TOE
SAFETY SUIT. SLED SAFE IN COMFORT
AND STYLE!

Judy slides down the hill.

[Giggles, upbeat music plays]

Abigail, muffled, says, DAVEY,
THIS IS NOT WORKING FOR ME!
YOU GOTTA TAKE IT OFF!

Davey asks, WHAT WAS THAT?
ANOTHER SLED RIDE?

[Giggling]

Abigail grumbles, GREAT.
UNCOMFORTABLE AND A
COMPLETE JOKE!

Abigail falls off the sled and bounces down the snowy hill. She knocks over the small pile of snowballs stacked by two antenna creatures.

She exclaims, WHOA!

[Gasp]

Davey says, ABIGAIL! ARE YOU
ALRIGHT? THERE. YOU'RE OKAY.

Davey digs Abigail out of a pile of snow. Abigail scowls.

[Upbeat music plays]

Abigail says, NO...NO, I'M NOT!
ALL THIS KNITWEAR IS BIG
AND BULKY, ITCHY AND SCRATCHY
AND SO... SO... UNCOMFORTABLE!

Text reads, “Uncomfortable.”

[Chime]

Davey says, BUT... WHY DIDN'T YOU
SAY SOMETHING?

Abigail says, BECAUSE... I DIDN'T
WANNA HURT MY BEST
FRIEND'S FEELINGS.

[Happy music plays]

Davey says, YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND
IN THE WHOLE WORLD - THE LAST
THING I WANT IS FOR YOU TO
BE UNCOMFORTABLE.

NOW COME ON - GIVE ME A HUG!

[Sigh]

Davey picks Abigail up and hugs her.

Davey says, I COULD HUG
YOU FOREVER!

Abigail screams. NOOO!

End credits roll.
