PERFECT! LET'S BEGIN!
WHEN YOU POUR TWO DIFFERENT
THINGS INTO A CONTAINER,
THE ONE THAT IS MORE DENSE
FALLS DOWN TO THE BOTTOM
AND THE ONE THAT IS LESS DENSE
FLOATS UP TO THE SURFACE.
LET'S START WITH
THE MOST DENSE LIQUID.
IN THIS CASE, IT'S HONEY.

Eric pours honey in a jar.

VOX says GREAT JOB!
NEXT, POUR CORN SYRUP
ON TOP OF THE HONEY.
BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT
CAREFULLY... IT MIGHT
HELP TO REST THE CORN SYRUP
ON THE EDGE WHILE POURING.
GENTLY...
PERFECT!
NEXT, DISH SOAP!
YOU GOT IT!
LOOK AT THAT!
LAYERS ARE FORMING!
ALRIGHT NOW IT'S
TIME FOR WATER.
BY THE WAY, I ADDED RED DYE
SO IT'S EASIER TO SEE THE WATER
ABOVE THE SOAP.
ONCE AGAIN ... VERY GENTLY.
WHEN YOU POUR WATER ON SOAP,
YOU HAVE TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL.
EVEN THOUGH SOAP IS MORE DENSE,
IT CAN DISSOLVE IN WATER.
EXCELLENT!
AND FINALLY ... VEGETABLE OIL!
CHECK IT OUT, ERIC.
FIVE LIQUIDS!
HONEY IS THE MOST DENSE,
SO IT STAYS AT THE BOTTOM,
AND VEGETABLE OIL IS THE LEAST
DENSE, SO IT FLOATS ON TOP.
NOW TO PROVE THESE
LAYERS FORMED
BECAUSE OF
THE DENSITY OF THE LIQUIDS
AND NOT THE ORDER
WE POURED THEM IN,
WE'LL DO ANOTHER
LITTLE EXPERIMENT.
LET'S MIX WATER AND OIL
IN A DIFFERENT CONTAINER.
EVEN IF YOU STIR OIL
AND WATER TOGETHER,
THEY STILL SEPARATE.
THE OIL RISES TO THE SURFACE
BECAUSE IT'S LESS DENSE
THAN THE WATER.
PRETTY IMPRESSIVE, RIGHT?

TO CREATE HIS MAGIC TRICK?
FIRST, ERIC HID A PING-PONG
BALL IN THE CORN KERNELS.
A PING-PONG BALL
IS LESS DENSE THAN CORN,
SO IT FLOATED TO THE SURFACE
WHILE THE OTHER BALL,
WHICH IS DENSER THAN CORN,
SANK STRAIGHT TO THE BOTTOM.
ALL ERIC HAD TO DO
IS SHAKE THE JAR
AND LET DENSITY DO ITS JOB.
BRILLIANT!
THERE YOU HAVE IT!
NOW THAT YOU KNOW
THE SECRET OF DENSITY,
YOU CAN USE IT TO AMAZE YOUR
