A split screen shows smiling children around eight or nine years old, all wearing aprons in different colours. They are using pots, pans, bowls, and spoons as musical instruments. Prepared food dishes fill the screen.

In colourful letters, the name of the show appears between an illustrated fork and a knife. The title reads: "My World Kitchen."

A narrator says, WHOSE KITCHEN ARE WE GOING TO TODAY?

A child in an orange and yellow patterned shirt, with short brown hair and glasses, opens a door.

The child says, HI, I'M IAIA. THIS IS MY HOUSE. COME IN.

A woman with a green headscarf and long purple shirt smiles.

Iaia says, THIS IS MY MUM.

Mum says, HELLO.

The narrator says, HI, MUM!

Iaia says, TODAY, I'M GOING TO BE MAKING KANSIYE FOR MY FRIENDS, 'CAUSE I LOVE IT.

The narrator says, IAIA'S MUM HAS SHOWN HIM A SPECIAL WAY TO MAKE HIS VERY OWN KANSIYE. IAIA'S MUM COMES FROM A COUNTRY CALLED GUINEA-BISSAU.

A colourful map has an arrow that points to west Africa.

The narrator says, GUINEA-BISSAU IS A COUNTRY IN WEST AFRICA. THE WEATHER IS USUALLY WARM ALL YEAR AROUND, WHICH MEANS LOTS OF DIFFERENT CROPS CAN GROW THERE.

Green fields are shown, along with cashews and peanuts.

The narrator says, MANY TYPES OF NUT ARE GROWN IN GUINEA-BISSAU, INCLUDING CASHEWS AND PEANUTS. FRUIT, VEGETABLES AND RICE ARE ALSO GROWN IN GUINEA-BISSAU AND THEY CAN BE EATEN WITH DELICIOUS STEWS, SUCH AS KANSIYE.

Iaia washes his hands. He puts on a green apron.

The narrator says, IAIA HAS WASHED HIS HANDS, PUT ON HIS APRON AND HE'S READY TO COOK.

Iaia says, I'M MAKING KANSIYE FOR MY FRIENDS.

Children waves.

The narrator says, AND HE'S INVITED ANNA, MAX, AND ELIZABETH TO TASTE ONE OF THE MAIN INGREDIENTS BEFORE THEY COME ROUND FOR A FANTASTIC MEAL LATER. WHAT'S THAT?

Elizabeth has dark blonde hair. She wears a blue shirt.

Elizabeth says, IT LOOKS A BIT LIKE A BEAN OR A TYPE OF FLOWER.

Anna has blonde hair in two long pigtails.

Anna says, IT'S REALLY WET.

Max has blonde hair that is shaved except for a long strip down the middle of his head.

Max says, IT'S BROWN.

The narrator asks, WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE?

Elizabeth says, SMELLS A BIT KIND OF COCOA-Y.

Anna says, IT KIND OF SMELLS LIKE DOG FOOD.

[Narrator laughing]

The narrator says, IT'S DEFINITELY NOT DOG FOOD. WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?

Elizabeth says, QUITE LIKE IT AND I THINK IT MIGHT BE A... TYPE OF BEAN.

The narrator says, GOOD GUESS.

Anna says, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS.

Max says, I THINK IT MIGHT BE LENTIL.

The narrator says, YOU'RE RIGHT, MAX. IT'S COOKED LENTILS.

Anna says, I REALLY LIKE IT.

The narrator says, GREAT.

Max says, I DON'T LIKE IT THAT MUCH.

The narrator says, THAT'S A SHAME. LET'S SEE WHAT EVERYONE THINKS LATER, BECAUSE COOKED LENTILS ARE ONE OF THE MAIN INGREDIENTS IN IAIA'S RECIPE.

Ingredients appear on a counter.

The narrator says, YOU'LL ALSO NEED TOMATO PASSATA, SPRING ONIONS, BLACK PEPPER, FRESH PARSLEY, GROUND CLOVES, GARLIC, SMOOTH PEANUT BUTTER, VEGETABLE OIL, VEGETABLE STOCK POWDER, WARM WATER AND DRIED THYME.

Iaia is at a kitchen table.

Iaia says, FIRST, ADD A DESSERT SPOON OF PEANUT BUTTER TO WARM WATER.

The narrator says, MAKE SURE NOBODY EATING THIS IS ALLERGIC TO NUTS. ADD VEGETABLE STOCK AND GIVE IT A STIR. WHAT'S NEXT?

Iaia stirs a plastic jug.

The narrator says, WHAT’S NEXT?

Iaia says, ADD SOME PASSATA TO THE JUG.

The narrator says, AND GIVE IT ANOTHER STIR.

Iaia adds more ingredients.

The narrator says, ADD DRIED THYME, GROUND CLOVES AND A FEW TWISTS OF BLACK PEPPER. THEN, YOU'VE GUESSED IT, MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT.

Iaia says, NOW, PEEL AND CRUSH YOUR GARLIC.

Iaia takes a clove of garlic.

The narrator says, JUST PEEL OFF THE PAPERY SKIN, ASK A GROWN-UP TO HELP YOU IF YOU FIND THIS TRICKY.

Iaia says, GUINEA-BISSAU IS IN AFRICA. IT'S VERY HOT AND IT'S A VERY NICE PLACE, BECAUSE THERE'S LOTS OF ANIMALS. I WOULD LIKE TO GO THERE ONE DAY.

Iaia puts the clove in a garlic press.

The narrator says, NOW, USE A GARLIC CRUSHER TO CAREFULLY CRUSH THE GARLIC ONTO YOUR WORKTOP. USE A SPOON TO HELP YOU SCRAPE ANY GARLIC OFF, ADD IT TO THE JUG AND MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT AGAIN.

Iaia says, IT'S TIME TO GREASE MY CASSEROLE DISH.

Iaia uses a brush to put oil in a round ceramic dish.

The narrator says, JUST BRUSH OIL OVER THE DISH.

Iaia says, IN GUINEA-BISSAU, THEY SPEAK PORTUGUESE AND ANOTHER LANGUAGE CALLED CREOLE. NOW IT'S TIME FOR MY VERY SPECIAL INGREDIENT.

The narrator says, MM, AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS, DON'T YOU? IT'S LENTILS.

An animation shows lentils growing.

The narrator says, LENTILS GROW ON A PLANT THAT HAS GREEN LEAVES AND SMALL
FLOWERS. THE FLOWERS TURN INTO PODS AND INSIDE THESE PODS ARE THE LENTILS, WHICH CAN BE USED IN COOKING.

Illustrations show different lentils.

The narrator says, LENTILS GROW IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT COLOURS, INCLUDING YELLOW, ORANGE, BROWN, BLACK AND GREEN. LENTILS CAN BE USED IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT RECIPES, SUCH AS SOUPS, SALADS AND STEWS, JUST LIKE IAIA'S.

Iaia says, NOW IT'S TIME TO WASH MY LENTILS.

Iaia picks up an open can of lentils.

The narrator says, TIP THE COOKED LENTILS INTO A SIEVE AND GIVE THEM A GOOD RINSE UNDER COLD WATER. WHAT ARE YOU UP TO NOW?

Iaia picks up the casserole dish.

Iaia says, I NEED TO POUR MY LENTILS INTO THE CASSEROLE DISH.

Iaia pours lentils into the dish. He uses scissors to cut spring onions.

The narrator says, CAREFULLY TRIM THE ENDS OFF YOUR SPRING ONIONS AND CUT THEM INTO SMALL PIECES. ADD THEM TO THE LENTILS.

Iaia says, TAKE THE PARSLEY AND RIP OFF THE LEAVES.

Iaia puts parsley in a clear cup. He uses the scissors to cut them.

The narrator says, THAT'S RIGHT, JUST PULL THE LEAVES OFF THE STALKS. NOW, CAREFULLY CUT THEM UP INTO SMALL PIECES AND ADD TO YOUR DISH.

Iaia says, AND POUR THE PASSATA MIXTURE INTO THE CASSEROLE DISH AS WELL.

The narrator says, AND GIVE IT ALL A REALLY BIG MIX, IAIA. POP THE LID ON AND THEN ASK A GROWN-UP TO HELP YOU.

Iaia says, MUM, CAN YOU PUT IT IN THE OVEN, PLEASE?

Mum takes the casserole dish.

The narrator says, IF YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE IAIA'S KANSIYE STEW AT HOME, MEASURE SMOOTH PEANUT BUTTER INTO A JUG OF WARM WATER AND GIVE IT A GOOD MIX AND REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE NO ONE EATING THIS IS ALLERGIC TO NUTS.

Iaia’s hands mix the ingredients on a counter.

The narrator says, ADD VEGETABLE STOCK POWDER, TOMATO PASSATA AND MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT. ADD DRIED THYME AND GROUND CLOVES. TWIST IN SOME BLACK PEPPER. PEEL THE SKIN OFF A GARLIC CLOVE. AND CAREFULLY CRUSH IT IN A GARLIC CRUSHER. SCRAPE OFF THE CRUSHED GARLIC WITH A SPOON, ADD IT TO YOUR MIXTURE, THEN ONCE AGAIN, MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT.

Iaia uses a rubber brush to coat the dish with oil.

The narrator says, BRUSH THE INSIDE OF A CASSEROLE DISH WITH VEGETABLE OIL. THEN, EMPTY A TIN OF COOKED GREEN LENTILS INTO A SIEVE, SO YOU CAN RINSE THEM UNDER COLD
WATER. TIP THE LENTILS INTO YOUR DISH. NEXT, CAREFULLY TRIM THE ENDS OF SPRING ONIONS AND CUT THEM INTO SMALL PIECES. ADD THESE TO THE CASSEROLE DISH. PULL THE LEAVES AND STALKS OFF FRESH PARSLEY AND PUT THEM INTO A MUG. CAREFULLY CHOP THEM UP AND ADD THEM TO THE DISH. POUR OVER THE SAUCE YOU MADE EARLIER AND, YOU'VE GUESSED IT, MIX IT, MIX IT, MIX IT.

Iaia puts a lid on the dish.

The narrator says, PUT ON THE LID AND ASK A GROWN-UP TO PUT IT IN THE OVEN FOR YOU. NOW, THERE'S JUST ENOUGH TIME FOR IAIA TO GET THE TABLE READY FOR HIS DELICIOUS KANSIYE.

Iaia sets a table outside. He puts a vase on the table.

Iaia says, I'M PUTTING OLIVE BRANCHES ON THE TABLE, BECAUSE THEY'RE THE SYMBOL OF GUINEA-BISSAU.

[Doorbell ringing]

Iaia says, THAT'LL BE MY FRIENDS.

The narrator says, HEY, THAT LOOKS GREAT, IAIA. A PERFECT PLACE TO EAT YOUR DELICIOUS MEAL.

Iaia opens a front door and says, HI, EVERYONE.

The children say, HI, IAIA.

Iaia says, COME IN.

The narrator says, NOW EVERYONE'S WASHED THEIR HANDS AND THEY'RE READY TO EAT.

Iaia and the children sit at the table.

Iaia says, GUYS, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MY TABLE?

Anna says, I REALLY LIKE HOW YOU USED THE STICKS AND SHELLS FOR DECORATION.

Iaia says, THANK YOU.

Max says, IT LOOKS REALLY INTERESTING.

Elizabeth asks, WHAT ARE THE PLANTS IN THE MIDDLE CALLED?

Iaia says, THEY ARE OLIVE BRANCHES, THEY ARE SYMBOL OF GUINEA-BISSAU.

The narrator says, LET'S HOPE EVERYONE'S HUNGRY, BECAUSE HERE COMES MUM WITH THE COOKED AND SLIGHTLY COOLED KANSIYE.

Mum sets the dish on the table.

Max says, WHOA.

The narrator says, IT LOOKS LOVELY, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT FRESH PARSLEY ON TOP. AND MUM'S COOKED SOME VEGETABLE RICE AND STEAMED CARROTS FOR EVERYONE TO DIG INTO.

Mum scoops the brown kansiye onto plates.

The narrator says, EARLIER TODAY, NOT EVERYONE LIKED THE TASTE OF LENTILS. LET'S FIND OUT WHAT THEY THINK, NOW THEY'RE COOKED IN IAIA'S RECIPE.

Everyone eats.

Elizabeth says, I THINK IT TASTES DELICIOUS.

Anna says, IT'S REALLY NICE.

Max says, I THINK IT'S REALLY NICE, IAIA.

Elizabeth says, WHAT'S IT CALLED?

Iaia says, IT'S CALLED KANSIYE. IT'S LIKE STEW.

Elizabeth says, IS IT AFRICAN?

Iaia says, YEAH.

Everyone eats.

The narrator says, EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE ENJOYING IT.

Iaia asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK MY SPECIAL INGREDIENT IS?

Anna says, I HAVE NO IDEA, BUT IT'S DELICIOUS.

Elizabeth says, NO, NO CLUE EITHER.

Iaia asks, MAX, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Max asks, IS IT LENTIL?

Iaia says, YES, IT IS.

The narrator says, WELL DONE, MAX.

Anna eats a forkful.

Iaia asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE LENTILS NOW IT'S IN MY KANSIYE?

Max says, IT TASTES REALLY GOOD.

Elizabeth says, I THINK BEFORE IT WAS IN THE MEAL, IT DIDN'T TASTE SO GOOD, BUT NOW IT'S IN THE MEAL, IT TASTES AMAZING.

The narrator says, THAT'S FANTASTIC, IAIA. IT LOOKS LIKE EVERYONE REALLY LIKES THE TASTE OF COOKED LENTILS NOW.

Iaia looks up and smiles.

Iaia says, THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY WORLD KITCHEN.
