As a theme song plays, a little girl, JoJo walks along a street, holding hands with an elderly grey-haired woman, Gran Gran. A man walking a dog, waves before being pulled away by the dog. It starts to rain. JoJo and Gran Gran hold green umbrellas and wear raincoats. It is springtime and pink blossoms bloom on trees in a park. Butterflies fly in a sunny blue sky. JoJo does a cartwheel and rolls down a hill. Gran Gran rolls down after her. JoJo tosses autumn leaves in the air. A man builds a snowman on a sidewalk. Gran Gran and JoJo walk by in coats and scarves. It is warmer weather and JoJo takes Gran Gran’s hand. Gran Gran opens a front gate to JoJo’s home.

(Theme music plays)

A person sings, JOJO AND GRAN GRAN
TAKE MY HAND
AND COME WITH ME
ON A JOURNEY THROUGH
OUR STREETS
WE'LL SAY HELLO TO
EVERYBODY THAT WE MEET
THROUGH THE YEAR,
AS SEASONS CHANGE
EXPLORING EVERY DAY
TAKE OUR TIME
TO STOP AND PLAY
AND WHEN THE SPRINGTIME
BLOSSOM TURNS TO SUMMER SUN
JOJO LIKES TO GET OUTSIDE
GRAN GRAN ALWAYS
MAKES IT FUN
WHEN THE AUTUMN RAINFALL
TURNS TO WINTER SNOW
I KNOW A SPECIAL PLACE,
A PLACE WHERE WE CAN GO
TAKE MY HAND,
WE'RE HEADING HOME
WITH JOJO AND GRAN GRAN

JoJo says, IT'S TIME TO SEE THE MOON.

It is nighttime.

Gran Gran says, IT WAS A COLD AUTUMN EVENING, THE LEAVES WERE CHANGING COLOUR AND FALLING FROM THE TREES, AND JOJO AND GRAN GRAN - THAT'S ME – WERE HAVING A SLEEPOVER.

Gran Gran says, THERE WE ARE, JOJO! ONE BIG SQUISHY BED.

JoJo says, THANK YOU, GRAN GRAN. CAN I KEEP THE CURTAINS OPEN TONIGHT, PLEASE? SO, I CAN SEE THE MOON?

Gran Gran says, AH, YES. THE MOON IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL SHAPE TONIGHT.

The sky is filled with stars.

JoJo says, OOH. GRAN GRAN THE MOON IS A DIFFERENT SHAPE IN YOUR PICTURE.

Gran Gran says, AH! THE MOON IN MY PICTURE IS A FULL MOON.

Gran Gran points to the window and says, AND THIS IS A CRESCENT MOON!

JoJo says, OH.

A child in in denim overalls says, SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT THE MOON IS MADE OF CHEESE.

A child in a blue shirt says, THE MOON IS MADE OUT OF ROCKS.

A child with a braid says, THE MOON CAN LOOK LIKE LOTS OF DIFFERENT SHAPES. IT CAN BE A BANANA SHAPE. IT CAN ALSO BE A CIRCLE OR A SEMI CIRCLE.

A child in a hoodie says, OH, THE MOON ALWAYS REMINDS ME OF CHEESE AND BANANAS.

A child with long dark hair says, THE MOON IS BASICALLY A ROUND SHAPE...

A child in an orange shirt says, LIKE THIS.

The child with the braid says, OR SOMETIMES IT CAN BE A HALF.

A child in a colourful striped shirt says, SOMETIMES YOU CAN SEE THE MOON IN THE DAY AND SOMETIMES YOU CAN SEE IT AT NIGHT.

The child in the colourful striped shirt says, ASTRONAUTS, THEY HAVE TO WEAR AN ASTRONAUT SUIT AND THEN THEY CAN GO TO THE MOON.

The child in the blue shirt says, IF THERE WERE THREE ASTRONAUTS, TWO WOULD GO ON THE MOON AND-AND ONE WOULD STAY IN THE SPACESHIP.

The child in the orange shirt says, IT WOULD BE DUSTY ON THE MOON.

A child in a green shirt says, YEAH AND--

The child in the orange shirt says, YUCK.

The crescent moon shines above Gran Gran’s house.

JoJo says,I WONDER WHERE THE FULL MOON COULD BE.

(JoJo gasping)

JoJo says, MAYBE IT'S HIDING.

JoJo whispers, COME ON, PANDA, LET'S FIND IT.

JoJo crawls to the middle of the bed.

JoJo says, HMM, THE FULL MOON MIGHT BE HIDING UNDER THE BED.

JoJo drops her head over the side of the bed.

She says, NO FULL MOON HERE.

Panda drops onto the floor.

JoJo opens a closet and says, NO FULL MOON IN THE CUPBOARD EITHER, PANDA.

JoJo opens dresser drawers. She turns away and says, HMM.

JoJo moves to the middle of the room. She says, WHERE COULD THE FULL MOON BE, PANDA?

Gran Gran sits on the couch in her living room, looking at an orange tablet.

(Cheering on tablet)

JoJo arrives and says, GRAN GRAN?

Gran Gran says, OH, JOJO? WHY AREN'T YOU IN BED?

(JoJo sighing)

JoJo says, ME AND PANDA WANT TO SEE THE FULL MOON LIKE THE ONE IN YOUR PICTURE, BUT WE THINK IT'S HIDING SOMEWHERE.

Gran Gran says, OH. THE FULL MOON ISN'T HIDING, JOJO. COME ON, I'LL SHOW YOU.

The full moon shines over water in Gran Gran’s picture.

Gran Gran says, THE MOON IS A BALL SHAPE.

Gran Gran says, BUT WE CAN ONLY SEE THE PART WHICH THE SUN LIGHTS UP.

Gran Gran says, SOMETIMES WE CAN ONLY SEE A LITTLE BIT OF THE MOON.

On the tablet, the moon moves through its phases

Gran Gran continues, AND SOMETIMES WE CAN SEE A LOT OF THE MOON.

(Jojo gasping)

Gran Gran says, SO, WHEN WE SEE THE MOON IN THESKY, IT CAN LOOK LIKE LOTS OF DIFFERENT SHAPES, BUT IT'S STILL THE SAME MOON. AND ALL THE SHAPES HAVE NAMES.

A shadow moves. Gran Gran says, THIS SHAPE IS CALLED A CRESCENT MOON.

The shadow moves further. Gran Gran says, THIS SHAPE IS CALLED A HALF MOON.

The shadow disappears. Gran Gran says, AND THIS SHAPE IS CALLED--

JoJo says, THE FULL MOON!

Gran Gran says, YOU'VE GOT IT!

Gran Gran kisses JoJo on the forehead, then says, NOW, GOODNIGHT, JOJO. AND TRY TO KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED THIS TIME.

JoJo laughs and says, I WILL, GRAN GRAN! GOOD NIGHT.

Gran Gran says, NIGHT NIGHT.

JoJo closes her eyes. Night turns to morning.

(Music playing)

JoJo asks, GRAN GRAN, WILL WE SEE THE FULL MOON TONIGHT?

Gran Gran replies, IT'LL TAKE MORE THAN ONE SLEEP BEFORE WE CAN SEE THE NEXT FULL MOON, JOJO.

JoJo asks, OH. HOW MANY SLEEPS WILL IT BE?

Gran Gran says, UM, I'M NOT SURE! BUT I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A GRAN GRAN PLAN.

Gran Gran puts a calendar on a table. She says, WE CAN USE MY CALENDAR TO MAKE A MOON DIARY!

JoJo says, OOH!

Gran Gran uses a marker to draw black circles on the calendar.

Gran Gran says, CAN YOU REMEMBER WHAT SHAPE THE MOON LOOKED LIKE YESTERDAY?

JoJo uses a white marker to draw a crescent. She says, A CRESCENT MOON!

Gran Gran says, THAT'S RIGHT! NOW, THIS MOON DIARY IS FOR YOU TO TAKE HOME TO MUMMY AND DADDY. AND LATER TODAY, LOOK IN THE SKY AND SEE IF THE MOON LOOKS LIKE A DIFFERENT SHAPE, AND DRAW IT HERE.

Gran Gran says, AND IF YOU DO THAT EVERY DAY, EVENTUALLY, YOU'LL SEE THE SHAPE OF?

JoJo says, THE FULL MOON!

Gran Gran says, YAY!

(Music playing)

JoJo’s Mummy and Daddy open their front door and JoJo runs inside, holding the calendar. Gran Gran waves.

Day turns to night. JoJo jumps and points at the moon. Mummy smiles and JoJo runs to the calendar. JoJo colours a thicker crescent on one black circle. Night turns to morning. Gran Gran is at the front door. JoJo runs out, holding the calendar. She shows it to Gran Gran.

Gran Gran and JoJo stand in a backyard at twilight looking up at a cloudy sky. JoJo draws a cloud over a black circle on the calendar. The black circles on the calendar fill in with quarter and half-moons. JoJo fills in the calendar in her bedroom while Daddy watches. JoJo sits up in bed with Panda and looks through the window at the moon. It is slightly more than half full. The calendar gets filled in. The moon is almost full.

JoJo is in Gran Gran’s kitchen. She hands Gran Gran a backpack.

Gran Gran says, HAVE YOU GOT EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR OUR SLEEPOVER TONIGHT?

JoJo puts the calendar on a table. She says, YES! AND I'VE BROUGHT THE MOON DIARY.

Gran Gran says, YAY!

JoJo says, THE MOON HAS LOOKED LIKE A LOT OF DIFFERENT SHAPES, GRAN GRAN.

Gran Gran says, I WONDER WHAT SHAPE IT WILL BE TONIGHT?

It is nighttime and the full moon shines brightly.

JoJo says, LOOK, GRAN GRAN, IT'S THE FULL MOON! OOH.

Gran Gran turns around and looks out the window. JoJo looks at the calendar on a bed.

(JoJo gasping)

JoJo says, IT LOOKS JUST LIKE YOUR PICTURE, GRAN GRAN!

JoJo says, IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT, PANDA.

JoJo picks up a white crayon and fills in the last black circle. The full moon shines in the sky.

A boy, girl and woman lay a blanket on the floor.

The boy wears a red hoodie, he says, TODAY, WE'RE GOING TO MAKE OUR OWN NIGHT SKY.

The girl wears a green dress. She says, PLEASE, CAN YOU PASS ME THE BLACK CARD?

A woman says, OF COURSE, I CAN.

The girl says, THANK YOU. WHEN IT GETS DARK, YOU CAN SEE LOTS OF DIFFERENT THINGS IN THE NIGHT SKY.

The woman asks, HOW YOU GETTING ON?

The girl replies, GOOD.

The boy says, I'M MAKING A TWINKLY STAR.

The woman says, IT'S VERY GOOD.

The girl cuts a pine tree shape.

The boy asks, HOW'S YOUR TREE GOING?

The girl replies, GOOD.

The boy says, THAT LOOKS GREAT.

The girl replies, THANKS. YOURS LOOKS GREAT, TOO.

The boy says, OUR NIGHT SKY PICTURE IS COMING TOGETHER.

The girl says, WE NEED LOTS OF STARS FOR OUR PICTURE.

The boy puts stars on the blanket and says, LET ME PUT THE STARS HERE.

The girl puts a cut-out of a building on the blanket. The children add more stars and trees. The children and the woman stand up.

The boy says, NOW, IT'S GONE DARK, WE'RE GOING OUTSIDE TO SEE IF WE CAN SPOT THE MOON.

Shadows move and the moon goes through its phases.

The girl says, SOMETIMES THE MOON CAN LOOK LIKE A FULL CIRCLE.

The boy says, SOMETIMES IT CAN LOOK LIKE A HALF CIRCLE, AND SOMETIMES IT CAN LOOK LIKE THE SHAPE OF A BANANA.

The children and the woman carry the blanket outside.

The boy says, TONIGHT, THE MOON IS A FULL MOON.

The girl jumps up and says, FORGOT TO DO A MOON. I'LL GO DO ONE.

The boy says, THE MOON IS WHITE AND BRIGHT.

The girl dips a sponge in grey paint and dabs it over a white paper plate. She says,
I'M MAKING A MOON. A FULL MOON LOOKS LIKE A CIRCLE SHAPE.

The woman unrolls twinkle lights around the blanket. The girl puts the painted plate on the blanket and says, I'VE DONE THE MOON.

(Music playing)

The children kneel around the blanket. The twinkle lights turn on.

The woman asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK, GUYS?

The girl says, I LOVE OUR ART WORK.

The boy says, WE DID AMAZING.

The woman says, HIGH FIVE.

The boy says, WE LOVED MAKING OUR VERY OWN NIGHT SKY AND SPOTTING THE MOON.

The full moon shines in the night sky.

Gran Gran and JoJo sit at the kitchen table.

Gran Gran asks, DID YOU SLEEP WELL, JOJO?

JoJo says, YES, AND SO DID PANDA.

Panda’s head tilts.

JoJo says, I'M GLAD WE SAW THE FULL MOON, GRAN GRAN.

Gran Gran says, AND REMEMBER, WHETHER YOU CAN SEE THE CRESCENT MOON, THE HALF MOON, OR THE FULL MOON, IT'S STILL --

JoJo says, THE SAME MOON! IT JUST LOOKS LIKE A DIFFERENT SHAPE.

(Gran Gran chuckling)

JoJo says, I LOVE YOU, GRAN GRAN.

Gran Gran says, AH, I LOVE YOU TOO, JOJO.
