(Calm music plays)

In Pins and Nettie’s playroom, Pins and Nettie paint on easels. Pins squeaks.

A female narrator says, HI, NETTIE.
HI, PINS.

Pins and Nettie squeak and wave paint brushes in the air.

The narrator says, I SEE YOU’RE HAVING AN ARTSY DAY
TODAY, HUH?

Pins and Nettie squeak.

The narrator asks, CAN I SEE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE
PAINTING?

Pins and Nettie shake their heads. They squeak.

The narrator says, OH.
OF COURSE.
I’M SORRY.
NOT UNTIL YOU’RE DONE.
OOH, BUT IT’S SO HARD TO WAIT.

Pins and Nettie continue painting. They squeak.

The narrator asks, ARE YOU DONE YET?

Pins and Nettie squeak and keep painting.

The narrator asks again, ARE YOU DONE YET?

Pins and Nettie squeak but don’t stop painting.
The narrator asks again, ARE YOU DONE YET?

Still painting, Pins and Nettie squeak.

The narrator says, I DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER I
CAN WAIT.

Pins and Nettie finish painting. Nettie looks uncertain. Pins smiles.

The narrator says, OOH.
YOUR DONE PINS?

Pins jumps and squeaks.

The narrator says, SO, CAN WE SEE?

Pins squeaks and turns his easel to reveal his painting of two hedgehogs standing in grass on a sunny day with a blue sky and clouds. Pins squeaks and jumps

The narrator says, WOW, PINS!
YOUR PAINTING IS INCREDIBLE.
IT LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU AND
NETTIE.
YOU ARE QUITE THE TALENTED
ARTIST.

Pins grins.

The narrator asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK, NETTIE?

Nettie puts down her paint brush. She hops over to Pins painting. She squeaks and smiles at Pins. Pins grins.

The narrator says, YES.
“WOW” IS A GOOD WORD FOR IT.
HOW ABOUT YOU, NETTIE?
CAN WE SEE YOUR PAINTING?

Pins jumps up and down. He looks excited and squeaks, but Nettie frowns and looks worried. Nettie gives a small smile as she hops over to her painting. Pins hops closer.

The narrator says, OOH, SHOW US.
SHOW US.

Nettie frowns and looks nervous. She curls up into a ball.

The narrator says, OH, NETTIE.
WHAT’S WRONG?

Nettie’s eyes peak out.

The narrator says, I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO SHOW
US YOUR PAINTING.
ARE YOU FEELING SHY ABOUT
SHOWING US YOUR PAINTING NOW?

Nettie’s curled up self nods.

The narrator says, YOU DON’T HAVE TO SHOW US YOUR
PAINTING IF YOU DON’T WANT TO.
BUT YOU SEEMED REALLY EXCITED TO
SHOW US JUST A MOMENT AGO.

Nettie looks down.

The narrator asks, SO, WHAT MADE YOU CHANGE YOUR
MIND?

Nettie looks towards Pin and his painting. Pins looks concerned. He squeaks.

The narrator says, PINS?
YOU FEEL SHY ABOUT SHOWING YOUR PAINTING BECAUSE OF PINS?

Nettie nods. Pins looks worried.

The narrator says, BUT WHY?

(Squeaking)

The narrator says, HIS PAINTING?
OH.
I THINK I UNDERSTAND WHAT’S
GOING ON.
NETTIE, DO YOU THINK PINS’
PAINTING IS BETTER THAN YOURS?

Nettie nods. Pins hops over to Nettie and rubs up against her curled up form. He steps away and Nettie uncurls herself.

The narrator says, PINS’ PAINTING IS VERY GOOD, BUT
THAT DOESN’T MEAN YOURS ISN’T.

Nettie squeaks.

The narrator says, OF COURSE!
THAT’S WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT
ART.
IT CAN BE DIFFERENT FOR
EVERYONE.

Nettie squeaks. She looks thoughtful then squeaks again and smiles. Pins takes a steps back as Nettie turns her easel to reveal a colourful abstract painting.

Pins squeaks and jumps up and down.

The narrator says, YOU SAID IT, PINS.
WOW!
NETTIE, YOUR PAINTING IS
AMAZING.

Nettie squeaks.

The narrator says, OF COURSE IT IS.

Nettie squeaks and jumps up and down.

The narrator says, IT’S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM
PINS’, BUT THAT DOESN’T MAKE IT ANY LESS BRILLIANT.
EVERY ARTIST PAINTS DIFFERENTLY.

Pins and Nettie smile.

The narrator says, SO WHAT ARE YOU TWO LITTLE
ARTISTS GOING TO PAINT NEXT?

Nettie squeaks. Pins looks deep in thought. Nettie smiles, jumps up and down and squeaks. She hops over to Pins and whispers in his ear. Pins smiles.

The narrator says, WHAT?
TELL ME.

Pins and Nettie squeak.

The narrator says, ME?
YOU’RE GOING TO PAINT ME?

Pins and Nettie grin and nod.

The narrator says, WOW. I AM HONOURED.
I AM SO LUCKY TO HAVE TALENTED
HEDGIES LIKE YOU AS FRIENDS.

Pins and Nettie hop back to their easels. They turn them around, grab their paint brushes and start painting.
