[Exciting music plays]

Tom says, AH, YEAH.
LUCKILY Iā€™VE GOT A GREAT IDEA.
ALL WE NEED IS SOME TIN FOIL
AND I CAN GO AS THE IRON MAN.

[Sparkles, chimes]

Tom says, AND WE WONā€™T EVEN
BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!

[Sigh, rustling tin foil]

Tom says, BUT WE BETTER HURRY...

Tom wears a bit of tin foil on his head. More tin foil is wrapped around his waist, right wrist and left ankle.

Mum says, THERE YOU GO, TOM.
AND I DONā€™T THINK ANYONE
WILL NOTICE WE RAN OUT OF FOIL.

Tom grumbles I LOOK LIKE
A HALF OPENED PARCEL.

[Tin foil rustles]

He asks, CAN I BE A SWAMP
MONSTER INSTEAD?

[A monster laughs]

Mum says, Iā€™LL TRY.
SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU
DONā€™T TELL US ABOUT BOOK WEEK?

Tom protests, I DID - TWO WEEKS AGO.
I THINK.

[Chimes]

Tom wears yellow one-piece pyjamas with smiling cat faces all over them.

He says, ERM,
Iā€™M SUPPOSED TO BE SCALY,
NOT FURRY.

[Meow]

Mum says, YOUā€™LL BE
COVERED IN SCALES
AND NO ONE WILL
SEE THE KITTENS.

IT WILL BE LIKE THE SWAMP
MONSTER HAS COME TO LIFE!

[Scissors snip]

[Foreboding music plays]

[Scissors cutting]

Tom says, PAPER SCALES...
MUM HAS SAVED THE DAY.
BOOK WEEK HERE I COME!

Tom roars, RAHHH!

Paper scales fall off as he walks.

Voices sing, WELCOME TO MY BRILLIANT SHOW.

Tom says, MAYBE NEXT TIME!

A green monster holds a timer above his head.

[Ticking]

Tom says, NOW, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE
EVERYTHING YOU NEED.

[Funky music plays]

[Ticking, ringing]

Tom says, FANTASTIC!

TAKE YOUR PAPER,
FOLD IT IN HALF,
THEN HALF AGAIN,
AND THEN HALF AGAIN.

NOW, UNFOLD THE PAPER SO THAT
ITā€™S ONLY BEEN FOLDED ONCE.
IMPORTANT BIT!
MAKE SURE THE PAPER IS
FOLDED JUST LIKE THIS.
TAKE YOUR SCISSORS,

The doodle warns, BE CAREFUL
WITH SCISSORS!

The small sign reads ā€œBe careful with scissors!ā€

Tom says, AND CUT DOWN THIS LINE.

A dotted line moves half way down one of the folds.

Tom says, NOW IF YOU UNFOLD YOUR PAPER,
IT SHOULD HAVE A HOLE
IN THE MIDDLE LIKE THIS.

OK, THIS PART IS
A LITTLE TRICKY.

STAND YOUR PAPER UP,
AND CAREFULLY PUSH TOGETHER,
CREATING FOUR SEPARATE PAGES.

[Slide whistle]

Tom instructs, FOLD THESE PAGES ROUND
AND YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR BOOK!

I DECIDED TO DRAW SOME
MONSTERS IN MY BOOK.

[Scribbling]

Tom says, YOU CAN DRAW ANYTHING YOU LIKE!

BEFORE FOLDING IT INTO A BOOK,
AND MAKE YOUR VERY OWN
COLOURING BOOK!

[Popping]

OR DESIGN YOU LIKE!

[Children cheer]

Mr. Fullerman says, BOLIVIA,

Tom says, TIME FOR SOME FURRY FACTS!

[Upbeat music plays]

Tom says, CHINCHILLAS DONā€˜T SHED
THEIR FUR.
IF SOMETHING TRIES
TO CATCH THEM,
THEY HAVE FUR SLIP,
AND LOSE IT IN CLUMPS.

A monster grabs a chinchillaā€™s tail.

[Monster groans, chinchilla screams]

Tom says, CHINCHILLAS CAN ALSO LEAP
SIX FEET IN THE AIR!

A chinchilla says, YEAH, NO KIDDING.

A fly hovers.

Tom says, A HOUSEFLY HUMS
IN THE KEY OF F.

[Fly buzzes]

Tom says, I THINK THAT S MORE
LIKE AN E-SHARP.

The fly says, WELL EXCUSE ME FOR BEING A
LITTLE OFF ONCE IN WHI-

A spider eats the fly.

[Munching]

Tom says, APPARENTLY, A TARANTULA CAN GO
UP TO TWO YEARS WITHOUT FOOD.

Tom whispers to the spider, YOU COULDNā€™T WAIT
TWO MORE MINUTES!?

[Spider chuckles]

Tom says, NOW,
HOW TO TURN SOMEONE
INTO A FURRY CREATURE.

STEP ONE: DO A DRAWING.

Marcus appears on a piece of paper.

STEP TWO: ADD A LOT OF FUR.

Black scribbles cover Marcus.

[Scribbling]

The Marcus drawing says, I AM A FURRY CREATURE.

Tom laughs, CANā€™T ARGUE WITH THAT!

[Laughing]

Marcus asks,
WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT?

Tom says, NOTHING. HA HA.

Tomā€™s paper scales fall off his pyjamas.

He groans, OH...

Marcus points at Tom and says, NOW. THAT IS FUNNY.

Tom says, AS IT'S BOOK WEEK,
HERE'S ANOTHER
BOOK IDEA FROM LIZ.

Liz wears a green shirt. She has long dark auburn hair.

Liz says, RIGHT NOW, I'M GOING TO
SHOW YOU TO MAKE
A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT
TYPES OF FLIP BOOKS.

Tom says, WOW, NOW I AM EXCITED.

Liz says, YOU NEED
TWO PIECES OF PAPER
AND SOME STICKY
NOTES LIKE THIS.

Liz folds a piece of paper.

She says, TAKE YOUR PIECE OF PAPER,
FOLD IT IN HALF,
RUN YOUR FINGER DOWN THE END,
AND THEN TURN IT OVER
LIKE IT'S A BOOK.
YOU'VE GOT TO DO YOUR DRAWING
CLOSER TO THE CORNER
OF THE PAPER.

THAT'S BECAUSE WHEN YOU'RE
TRYING TO DO THE FLICKING,
IF YOU DO IT IN THE MIDDLE
IT'S GOING TO BE
VERY DIFFICULT TO DO.
LIKE THAT.

Tom says, GOT IT. THANKS LIZ.

[Upbeat music plays]

Liz says, I'M JUST GOING TO DRAW
TOM'S FACE.

Tom says, AMAZING.

Liz explains, SO WHAT YOU'RE
ACTUALLY DOING HERE
IS DRAWING YOUR SECOND PICTURE,
THE ONE WITH THE EXPRESSION ON,
YOU'RE DOING THAT FIRST BEFORE
YOU DO THE OTHER PICTURE.

Liz draws.

I'M USING A PERMANENT MARKER,
SO BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR FINGERS.
DO PUT SOMETHING
UNDERNEATH THE TABLE
IF YOU ARE USING
A PERMANENT MARKER.

IF YOU DRAW
A REALLY BIG EXPRESSION,
THAT WILL GIVE YOU MUCH
MORE OF A CONTRAST.
AND I'LL SHOW YOU NEXT.

Liz draws Tom with his mouth wide open.

[Marker scratches]

Liz says, SO WE'VE DRAWN TOM,
WITH A VERY BIG EXPRESSION.
NOW IF YOU PUT THE PAPER DOWN,
YOU CAN SEE ROUGHLY
THROUGH THE PAPER.

AND NOW I'M GOING
TO DRAW TOM AGAIN
BUT THEN CHANGE HIS EXPRESSION.
KEEP EVERYTHING THE SAME,
THE NOSE THE SAME.

THE THINGS I'M GOING TO CHANGE
ARE HIS EYES AND HIS MOUTH.
TOM JUST SMILING.
RIGHT, LET'S SEE HOW THAT WORKS.
THEN YOU JUST HOLD IT
AND YOU CAN FLICK IT.

Liz flicks the corner of the page between Tomā€™s smile and his surprised look.

She says, LIKE THAT.
THAT WORKS, I THINK.

SO YOU COULD TRY ALL DIFFERENT
TYPES OF EXPRESSIONS.
YOU COULD MAKE HIS HAIR GO UP,
YOU COULD DO A MONSTER.

Tom says, AWESOME!

Liz says, I MIGHT TRY
ANOTHER ONE NOW.

[Chime]

She says, LET'S TRY A BUG.

Liz draws a bug in the upper right corner of her paper.

She says, SO DON'T FORGET,
DRAW AT THE TOP END OF THE PAPER
SO THAT YOU CAN HOLD IT
AND FLICK IT.

PUT HIS ARMS UP IN THE AIR,

[Scribbling]

She continues, AND HIS LEGS.
MAYBE GIVE HIM SOME FUR.
I'M GOING TO TAKE A PENCIL,
ADD A LITTLE BIT
OF SHADOW LIKE THAT,
AND SOME LINES, SO IT LOOKS
LIKE HE'S JUMPING UP.

Liz starts a drawing on the first page.

She says, JUST SEE HIM THERE,
SO I NEED TO MOVE HIM
DOWN A LITTLE BIT
BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY
HE'S JUMPING UP.

TRY TO CHANGE THINGS
A LITTLE BIT.

[Pencil scratch]

She says, I MIGHT JUST ADD A LITTLE BIT
OF SHADOW THERE.

RIGHT, LET'S SEE HOW THAT WORKS.
SO YOU CAN MAKE VERY SIMPLE
ANIMATIONS LIKE THAT.

THAT'S BASICALLY
WHAT ANIMATION IS,
IT'S JUST DOING
LOTS OF THOSE DRAWINGS
AND JUST CHANGING EVERYTHING
JUST A TINY BIT.

SO ANOTHER THING YOU CAN DO,

[Bouncing noises as she flips the corner of the page]

Liz says, IF YOU WANT TO MAKE
SLIGHTLY LONGER ANIMATION.

I'M GOING TO USE THIS
STICKY NOTE PAD
AND YOU CAN ALREADY SEE
I'VE DRAWN MR FULLERMAN.

Liz flips the pages of a yellow sticky note pad. Mr. Fullerman appears on the bottom right corner of every page.

She says, A BUNCH OF MR FULLERMANS,
ONE AFTER THE OTHER,
EXACTLY THE SAME,

BUT I'M MISSING OUT HIS EYES
AND ANY EXPRESSIONS REALLY.
SO HIS MOUTH IS THE SAME,
I'VE DRAWN HIM THE SAME.

I'M NOT MOVING
MR FULLERMAN AROUND,
SO I'M JUST GOING TO DRAW

THE LAST THREE MR FULLERMANS ON TOP
SO YOU CAN SEE HOW I DID IT.

YOU CAN SEE THROUGH UNDERNEATH.
SO IT'S THE SAME AS THE PAPER.
I'M JUST DRAWING MR FULLERMAN
EXACTLY THE SAME.

Liz draws Mr. Fullerman.

[Marker scratches]

She says, ANOTHER ONE.
LIKE THAT.

RIGHT. NOW I'VE DONE THOSE.
I'M GOING TO GO RIGHT BACK
TO THE BEGINNING
AND I'M GOING TO ADD A FLY
AND THEN MAKE
MR FULLERMAN'S EYES
FOLLOW THEM ALL THE WAY AROUND.

[Chuckle]

Liz says, THE FLY WILL GO
TO DIFFERENT PLACES
AND THAT'S WHAT'S GOING TO MOVE.

Tom says, GREAT STUFF!

Liz draws Mr. Fullermanā€™s eyes.

She says, EVERY TIME
YOU DO A DRAWING,
JUST MOVE THE FLY
JUST A LITTLE BIT OVER.

She draws the fly and eyes.

She says, SO I'M MAKING MR FULLERMAN'S
EYES FOLLOW THE FLY,
AND THEN GO IN DIFFERENT
DIRECTIONS AS WELL

SO HE'S GOING CROSS-EYED.
SO EVERY TIME I DO SOMETHING
I'M JUST MOVING IT A LITTLE BIT.
SO YOU JUST DRAW IT IN A
SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT PLACE
THAN IT WAS BEFORE
AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE
WHAT YOU'VE DRAWN UNDERNEATH.

WE'LL LEAVE MR FULLERMAN'S
MOUTH WIDE OPEN.

Liz draws.

Liz says, MR FULLERMAN'S GONE CROSS-EYED.

WE NEED TO MAKE THE FLY
DISAPPEAR NOW.
LET'S LEAVE
MR FULLERMAN LIKE THAT.

PHEW. THAT TOOK A WHILE!

THAT'S WHY IT'S
QUITE A GOOD IDEA
IF YOU'RE GOING
TO DO A FLIP BOOK,
TO CHOOSE SOMETHING
SIMPLE TO DRAW
BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING
TO BE DOING A LOT OF DRAWINGS.

[Chimes]

Liz asks, SHALL WE SEE IF THAT WORKS?

Liz flips the corner of the sticky note pad.

[Fly buzzing]

Liz says, BUT YOU COULD DO
ALL KINDS OF THINGS.
YOU COULD DO BUGS,
YOU COULD DO MONSTERS,
JUST A FACE,
JUST SOMETHING REALLY SIMPLE.
MAKE YOUR OWN ANIMATION.

[Fly buzzes]

Tom says, AH, THANKS LIZ
THAT WAS GREAT!
WHY DON'T YOU GIVE IT A GO?

A fly buzzes around Mr. Fullerman.

Mr. Fullerman says, OOOH!

LOOK I WAS GOING FOR.
I DONā€™T EVEN HAVE ANY GLUE
TO STICK THE SCALES BACK ON.

The bug asks, GLUE STICK? YEAH!
GLUE, GLUE, GLUE!
GLUE GLUE GLUE!

Tom says, ERM, OK.

[Paper rustles]

The bug says, KEEP STILL!

[Struggling noises]

The bugā€™s hands stick to the glue. The bug falls on to a piece of paper.

The bug asks, CAN SOMEBODY HELP?

[Bug groans]

Tom says, WELL... I GUESS THEREā€™S
ALWAYS NEXT YEAR!
