Text reads “A Sky Original.”

[Pencil scribbles]

[Energetic music plays]

A stick drawing of a boy with black hair sits at a desk. A band plays instruments.

Tom sings, MAKE IT, SING IT,
DRAW IT, SAY IT
THIS HOW DOG ZOMBIES
PLAY IT.

DOODLE MONSTER,
FURRY CREATURE,
DRAW A PICTURE
OF MY TEACHER.

I LIKE WAFERS
THEY’RE THE BEST!
MARCUS MELDREW’S
NOT IMPRESSED.

A boy with curly hair crosses his arms.

He sings, GRANNIE’S CUSTARD'S
VERY LUMPY,
DELIA IS ALWAYS GRUMPY.

Tom holds up a bowl of lumpy custard. A girl with long dark hair and sunglasses looks unhappy.

Tom sings, I‘M TOM GATES,
THAT’S MY NAME
SO JOIN IN WITH
MY FAVOURITE GAMES.

Tom runs on a long blue path.

He sings, GET READY BECAUSE
HERE WE GO.
WELCOME TO MY
BRILLIANT SHOW.

Text reads “The Brilliant World of Tom Gates. Created by Liz Pichon.”

Tom says, IN THIS BRILLIANT SHOW...
WE'LL MAKE A TOTALLY
TOM GATES PAPER PLANE,
LEARN HOW TO DOODLE
ALL MY CLASSMATES
AND SING ALONG TO 'WE ARE ONE'!

Voices sing, WELCOME TO MY
BRILLIANT SHOW.

Text reads “The Brilliant World of Tom Gates.”

[Chimes]

Tom says, YOU'RE ABOUT TO HEAR
ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDS.

Dark clouds drift over a purple school.

[School bell rings]

Tom says, NO, I'M NOT A HUGE FAN OF BELLS
BUT I AM WHEN IT’S
THE BELL FOR BREAKTIME!

The clouds move over the school.

Tom says, JUST THEN FLORENCE MITCHELL SAYS:

Florence says, SIR, I THINK
IT’S GOING TO RAIN,
DO WE HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE?

Tom says, MR. FULLERMAN WAS TOO BUSY
DREAMING ABOUT
HIS TEA BREAK TO NOTICE.

Mr. Fullerman says YES, FLORENCE.
A LITTLE BIT OF RAIN
NEVER HURT ANYONE.

[Rain, thunder]

Mr. Fullerman’s eyes open wide.

[Pop]

Mr. Fullerman says, OH! THERE GOES MY TEA BREAK.

Tom says, DREAM ON MR. FULLERMAN!

[Rain falls]

Lightning flashes as the children gather around the classroom window to watch it.

Children say,
WOW! YES!
WOW, THAT WAS EPIC!
WOW! YES!

Leroy asks, DOES THIS MEAN
WE CAN PLAY GAMES INSIDE, SIR?

Leroy throws a paper airplane.

Mr. Fullerman says,
WOAH! NO, LEROY. SIT DOWN.

Tom says, THIS IS WHEN
MR. FULLERMAN BREAKS OUT
THE EMERGENCY INDOOR
BREAK PLANS.

HE THINKS MATHS IS FUN,
SO I'M NOT HOPEFUL.

Mr. Fullerman says, RIGHT.

Tom says, HERE WE GO. EXTRA MATHS.

Mr. Fullerman asks, WHO WANTS TO TAKE
PART IN A CLASS TALENT SHOW?

Tom says,
I TAKE IT ALL BACK!

The children cheer, YEAH!

Tom says,
EVEN MARCUS THINKS THIS IS FUN.
WHILE WE GET READY
FOR THE TALENT SHOW,

HERE'S HOW TO MAKE
LEROY'S AMAZING PAPER PLANE.

Text reads “Make-It!”

Animated arrows point to a paper airplane.

[Funky music plays]

Tom says, IF YOU WANT TO MAKE LEROY'S
PERFECT PAPER PLANE,
THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED.

Text reads “What You Need.”

Items appear as Tom lists them.

Tom says, PAPER, PENS TO DECORATE.

A bug asks, AND THE GLUE STICK?

Tom says, OH, WE DON'T NEED ANY GLUE.

The bug says, ALL RIGHT.

[Squeaking as the bug drags the glue stick away]

Tom says, SORRY.

A blue monster holds a timer up over his head.

[Ticking]

Tom says, THERE WE GO.
MAKE SURE YOU'VE GOT ALL THAT.

[Horn honks]

Tom says, FIRST, FOLD THE PAPER LIKE THIS.
AND THEN LIKE THIS.

Tom folds the paper in half lengthwise. He makes a diagonal fold.

He says, AND DO THE SAME
ON THE OTHER SIDE.

FOLD THE TRIANGLE DOWN
LIKE THIS ON BOTH SIDES.
YOU WANT THE FRONT TO BE A POINT
TO CUT THROUGH THE AIR.

Tom folds the paper.

He continues, NOW TAKE THE BOTTOM TIP OF YOUR
PAPER AND FOLD IT UP LIKE THIS.
AND YOU GUESSED IT! THE SAME
AGAIN ON THE OTHER SIDE.

ONE LAST FOLD ON EACH WING.
TURN YOUR PLANE OVER LIKE THIS
AND GENTLY SPREAD ITS WINGS.

NOW HERE'S MY TOP
PAPER PLANE TIP.

MAKE A LITTLE CUT IN THE FOLD
AT THE BACK AND
PUSH IT UP LIKE THAT.
NOW IT LOOKS LIKE
LITTLE DIAMOND FROM THE BACK.

THAT GIVES IT A BIT OF BACK LIFT
AND WILL MAKE YOUR PAPER PLANE
FLY REALLY STRAIGHT.

NOW JUST ADD
SOME COOL DECORATION.

Drawings appear on three paper airplanes.

Voices sing, WELCOME TO MY
BRILLIANT SHOW.

Text reads “The Brilliant World of Tom Gates.”

Tom flies over a planet in a paper airplane. An alien hides in a crater.

Tom says, WOOHOO!

[Aliens chatter]

Tom flies his airplane past the school.

Children cheer, YEAH! GO TOM!

Tom says, BETTER FLY BACK
FOR THE CLASS TALENT SHOW!

Text reads “Class Five-F Talent Show.”

[Upbeat music plays]

Tom says, GIVE IT UP FOR INDRANI
HINDLES EYEBROW DANCE!
IT'S AMAZING!

Indrani has long black hair. She wiggles her eyebrows.

[Boing, boing, boing, boing]

A boy cheers, WOOP! WOOP!

Tom says, MARK CLUMP CAN WHISTLE
LIKE A REAL BIRD!

Mark has short hair and glasses. He puts a hand on either side of his mouth and whistles.

[Bird song]

A girl says, EXCELLENT!

[Rain falls]

Amy and Tom look astonished. Birds land on the windowsill.

Tom points to the birds and says, WOW!

[Chimes]

Leroy has dark curly hair. He moves his hand in front of a blue eraser and when he moves his hand, the eraser is gone.

Tom says, LEROY LEWIS CAN MAKE
A SCHOOL RUBBER DISAPPEAR!

A child shouts, YEAH!

Tom says, OOOO!
SHAME HE CAN’T DO
THAT WITH HOMEWORK.

[Chimes]

Leroy makes Marcus’s homework disappear.

Tom says, NICE ONE, LEROY!
FLORENCE MITCHELL SANG A SONG
ABOUT THE SUN COMING OUT.

Florence sings, THE SUN!

Tom says, IT SOUNDED BRILLIANT!
IT ALSO BROUGHT THE SUN BACK,
WHICH WAS PRETTY INCREDIBLE TOO.

Dark clouds move away from the school.

A boy cheers, YAY!

Tom says, JUST WHEN IT LOOKS
LIKE MR. FULLERMAN
MIGHT GET HIS TEA
BREAK AFTER ALL

[School bell rings]

Tom continues, THE BELL RINGS
FOR THE END OF BREAKTIME.

Voices sing, WELCOME TO MY
BRILLIANT SHOW.

Text reads “The Brilliant World of Tom Gates.”

Tom says, NOW I KNOW SOMEONE ELSE
WHO'S GOT A TALENT OR TWO.
IT'S TIME TO DRAW-IT!

Text reads “Draw-It!”

[Popping]

[Funky music plays]

Liz wears a blue shirt. She holds a pen in her hand.

Liz says, HI. I'M LIZ AND I WRITE
AND DRAW THE TOM GATES BOOKS.
RIGHT NOW I'M GOING
TO SHOW YOU
HOW TO DRAW SOME
OF TOM'S CLASSMATES.

Tom says, AMAZING!

Liz says, SO TOM GOES
TO OAKFIELD SCHOOL
AND HIS TEACHER
IS CALLED MR. FULLERMAN.

WHO SHOULD I START WITH?
UHH, MARCUS MELDREW.

[Upbeat music plays]

Liz draws a circle.

She says, SO I'M DRAWING HIS LITTLE EARS.
HE'S A BIT CROSS.

An animated drawing of Marcus lifts his eyebrows.

[Slide whistle, slide whistle]

Liz draws another head beside Marcus.

Liz says, AND THIS IS TREVOR.
SO I'M JUST GOING
TO DRAW THEIR FACES.

THIS IS A BIT LIK
ONE OF THOSE DRAWINGS
THAT YOU DO WHEN
YOU FIRST JOINED IN SCHOOL
AND YOU HAVE TO DO
A PORTRAIT OF YOURSELF.

INDRANI HAS GOT
LIKE AN OVAL SHAPED.
AND THEN A FRINGE.

Indrani blinks.

[Squeak, squeak]

Liz says, AND NORMAN HAS GOT SLIGHTLY KIND
OF RUFFLED HAIR LIKE THAT.

[Laugh]

Liz draws.

She says, BRAD'S GOT HAIR A LITTLE BIT
LIKE TOM'S AND IT'S TO THE SIDE.
I KNOW. LET'S DRAW LEROY.

Liz draws Leroy. He blinks.

[Squeak, squeak]

Liz says, THAT'S FLORENCE.
AND THEN WE'VE GOT AMY.
THIS IS AMY PORTER,
WHO SITS NEXT TO TOM.

Liz draws Amy.

Liz says, SO THIS IS PANSY.
IT'S QUITE NICE BEING ABLE
TO DO HAIR LIKE THAT.
THIS IS AMBER, I THINK.

Amber blinks.

[Squeak, squeak]

Liz says, NEXT I'M GOING
TO DRAW IS MARK CLUMP.
AND MARK CLUMP,
HE HAS A LOT OF PETS.

THIS ONE'S ROSS, ROSS WHITE.
THIS IS PAUL, PAUL JOLLY.

Liz draws a boy with short hair.

Liz says, I THINK THERE'S
ONLY ONE PERSON MISSING, NOW?
THAT'S TOM!

Tom says, AWESOME!

Liz says, SO TOM HAS A FLATTOP HAIRSTYLE.

Liz draws Tom.

She says, AND I THINK WE SHOULD
DRAW MR. FULLERMAN.
HE'S THE TEACHER, AFTER ALL.

MR. FULLEMAN'S GOT
BIG BEADY EYES.

Mr. Fullerman leans right and left.

[Swoop, swoop, swoop]

Liz says, AND ACTUALLY I MIGHT EVEN PUT
MYSELF DOWN THE BOTTOM THERE.

Tom says, LOVE IT!

Liz says, OK, SO I'M JUST GOING
TO DRAW A FRAME
AROUND THE WHOLE THING.
THE WHOLE DRAWING, RATHER.
JUST KIND OF STOPS THEM FROM
FLOATING AROUND ON THE PAGE.
IT'S NICE JUST TO FINISH IT OFF.

Liz draws a black frame around the class picture.

Liz says, THERE YOU GO!
THAT'S TOM'S CLASSMATES.
ALL DONE.

[Chimes]

Liz says, SO IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW
ALL HIS CLASS FRIENDS LOOK LIKE,
THERE THEY ARE.

The children and Mr. Fullerman move their heads on the paper.

Tom’s head says, NOW IT'S TIME FOR SING-IT!

Children shout, YEAH!

Tom shouts, WE ARE ONE!

Text reads “Sing-It!”

[Drum beat plays]

Voices shout rhythmically, HEY! HEY! HEY!

Text reads “Hey! Hey! Hey!”

Leroy throws a paper airplane.

A man sings, HEY!
SCHOOL'S OUT, RAISE A SHOUT.
ALL WE WANNA DO
IS GO AND HAVE SOME FUN.

Indrani wiggles her eyebrows.

Voices shout, HEY!

The man sings, RIGHT NOW,
HEAR THE SOUND RUN AROUND
PARTY TILL THE DAY IS DONE.

An animated band plays instruments. A drum has “Dudes” on the side.

The man sings, COME ON, COME ON.
COME ON, COME ON.
COME ON.

Tom rides in the paper airplane.

The singer continues, COME ON, COME ON,
COME ON, COME ON.
COME ON.

The number one appears.

The man sings, WE ARE ONE.
WE CAN FLY
AND TOUCH THE SUN.
TOGETHER WE WILL RISE
AND SHINE ON.

Voices shout, HEY!

Bugs dance.

The singer continues, YOU AND I, WE ARE ONE.

WE ARE ONE.
WE ARE ONE.
WE ARE ONE.
WE ARE ...

[Cymbals smash]

He sings, WE ARE ONE.
WE CAN FLY AND TOUCH
THE SUN.

TOGETHER WE WILL RISE
AND SHINE ON.

HEY!
YOU AND I, WE ARE ONE.

Leroy puts a blanket over Marcus and makes him disappear.

The singer continues, COME ON, COME ON.
COME ON, COME ON.

(DRUM BEAT)

The man sings, WE ARE ONE.
COME ON, COME ON,
COME ON, COME ON.

Tom and his friends create a colourful doodle on a wall.

The singer continues, WE ARE ONE.
