Derek frantically waves his arms at Tom.
(Gasping)
Rooster imagines himself in a bathtub. Bubbles pop around him and he barks. Rooster jumps and rolls himself in the mud puddle. Derek covers his face with his hand.
Derek says, YOU SAID THE B WORD!
Tom looks confused.
He says, WHAT?
Rooster pauses and looks over at Tom and Derek.
Tom says, BATH?
Derek closes his eyes. Rooster returns to splashing in the mud.
Tom says, WHOOPS!
Tom scratches the back of his neck.
Derek says, YOU SAID IT AGAIN!
Tom says, WELL, DON'T WORRY.
EVEN THE BIGGEST MESS
CAN BECOME AN AWESOME DOODLE.

Tom says, IT'S LIZ. SHE WRITES AND DRAWS

ON THE WHITE PAPER.

GOT A NICE SURPRISE AT THE END.

Stars sparkle around the area’s Liz draws.
Liz says, I THINK THAT'S DONE.

MAYBE ONE MORE OF THAT.

SO WHEN YOU'VE DONE THAT,
MIX UP SOME WATERCOLOR.
IT HAS TO BE WATERCOLOR.
SO YOU COULD USE POSTER PAINT
AS WELL.
THAT WILL PROBABLY WORK.
MIX IT UP WITH SOME WATER.
I'M GOING TO USE THIS NICE,
BIG, THICK PAINT BRUSH HERE.
AND I'VE ALREADY
GOT SOME MIXED UP.
Liz dips her paint brush in the blue paint.
She says, I'M USING A NICE DARK COLOR.
IF YOU USE A DARK COLOR,
THEN YOU'LL SEE
THE WAX REALLY STANDS OUT.
Liz dips the brush in a cup of water.
She says, A BIT OF WATER.
DO A TESTER FIRST.
Liz briefly dips her brush back in the paint.
She says, JUST SEE, JUST ON THIS BIT HERE.
I THINK IT'S GOING TO WORK.
SO YOU NEED IT
TO BE QUITE LIQUIDY.
Liz paints a small spot on her paper.
She says, THERE WE ARE.
In a time lapse, Liz paints with her water colour paint over her wax design.
She says, SO WHERE I'VE DRAWN
THE WATER IS RESISTING.
SO YOU ACTUALLY GET TO SEE
THE WAX COMING THROUGH.
Tom says, OH, I SEE.
Liz says, I LOVE THIS BIT.
IT'S LIKE MAGIC PAINTING.
The painting begins to reveal itself as Liz paints. The painting has lots of curved, line doodles and stars. Liz adds extra shading to parts of the painting that makes the colour an even darker blue.
Liz says, IF YOU THINK YOU'VE PUT
TOO MUCH PAINT ON
YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE
A LITTLE BIT OF TISSUE
AND JUST DAB IT OFF.
Liz uses a small piece of tissue to dab at part of the painting.
She says, IF YOU USE PAPER
THAT'S QUITE THICK AS WELL,
THAT HELPS
BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO BE
PUTTING A LOT OF WATER ON IT.
Tom says, GOOD TIP.
Liz continues painting, revealing the rest of the crayon drawing with the blue water colour.
She says, NOW, CAN YOU SEE
WHY IT'S BEST
TO HAVE A DARK COLOR AS WELL?
IT REALLY STANDS OUT.
Liz adds extra colour to parts of the painting, turning it darker, and reveals the rest of the curved doodles around the four stars of the painting.
Liz says, IT'S NICE BECAUSE THESE ARE
THE SAME DOODLE PATTERNS
THAT YOU MIGHT SEE ON THE BOOKS.

IN A VERY DIFFERENT WAY.
Liz pauses.

Tom says, MMM. I THINK THEY DO.

Tom says, HERE ARE FIVE PETS,

(Upbeat music plays)
Under shadows of five people are pictures of 5 different pets. The pets include a dog with pigtails, a dog with curly hair and a furrowed brow, a hamster with curly hair and a headband, a cat with big eyes and a furrowed brow as well as a lizard.
Tom says, THERE’S FLORENCE MITCHELL.
The first shadow is revealed to be a girl with curly hair who’s wearing a headband.
Tom says, MARK CLUMP.
Mark wears glasses.
Tom says, HE HAS A LOT OF PETS.
MR. FULLERMAN.
Mr. Fullerman is revealed to be the third shadow. He has big eyes and a furrowed brow.
He says, TOM,
HAVE YOU DONE YOUR HOMEWORK?
Tom says, YES, SIR.
Tom nods.
He whispers, I DIDN'T KNOW
I HAD ANY HOMEWORK.
The fourth shadow is revealed to be a girl with pigtails.
Tom says, AMY PORTER…
The fifth shadow is revealed to be a boy with curly hair and a furrowed brow.
Tom says, …AND MARCUS MELDREW.
I BET HIS PET'S ANNOYING.
Marcus gasps.
Tom says, OK, HERE WE GO.
MATCH THE FACE TO THE PET!
A yellow strip begins to fill as time passes.
Tom says, IT’S QUITE TRICKY BUT,
THEY DO ALL LOOK
A BIT LIKE THEIR OWNERS.
(Clock ticking)
Tom says, TIME'S NEARLY UP.
HAVE YOU MATCHED THEM UP YET?
The timer ends and the owners and the pets rapidly change spots multiple times until the pets match their owners. Arrows point from the owners to the pets. Florence is the owner of the hamster, Mark the lizard, Mr. Fullerman the cat, Amy the dog with pigtails and Marcus the dog with curly hair.
Tom says, THAT'S IT!
HOW MANY DID YOU GET?
The arrows matching the owners to the pets disappear.
Tom says, TALKING OF PETS...
Outside the bathtub, Rooster grumbles.
Tom says, …ME AND MY BEST FRIEND DEREK
HAVE BEEN GETTING HIS DOG
ROOSTER READY FOR A DOG SHOW.
Derek says, WE MIGHT JUST MAKE
THE DOG SHOW, IF WE HURRY.
Tom says, GREAT. LET’S DRY ROOSTER
AND GIVE HIM A BRUSH.
Derek says, I DON'T HAVE A BRUSH.
Tom says, I DO. IT'S OK.
I'VE ONLY BORROWED IT
FROM MY SISTER DELIA.
SHE'LL NEVER KNOW.
Tom smiles. A clock ticks. Outside on the blanket, Rooster sparkles.
Derek says, ALL DONE.
A gust of wind blows past Tom and Derek. Tom looks worried. The friends look at Rooster just as the wind reaches him and fluffs his hair.
(Sigh)
Tom says, EH. IT COULD BE WORSE.
Derek says, AT LEAST HE'S CLEAN.
Tom says, COME ON, ROOSTER! WE NEED TO GO
OR WE'LL MISS THE DOG SHOW.
Rooster barks and follows Tom and Derek. In the bathroom, Delia stands by the bathtub full of bubbles with her hairbrush. She pulls out a dog hair and gasps.
Delia says, TOM!

Tom and Derek wear rosette ribbons. Rooster shakes mud off himself and sprays Tom and Derek.

On a surface with the collection of items required, a monster pops up with a sign that reads, be careful with scissors.
The monster says, BE CAREFUL WITH SCISSORS!
Tom says, COLOURED PENS…
A bug carries a glue stick and says, AND THE GLUE STICK.
Tom says, …YEAH, AND THE GLUE STICK.
The bug says, WELL, YOU WANT ONE?
Tom says, YEAH!
The bug celebrates and says, OH YEAH!
Tom says, OKAY.
A blue monster holds a timer that ticks as it begins to fill with the colour green.
Tom says, ALL RIGHT, GOT ALL THAT?
FANTASTIC! LET'S GET MAKE-IT!
On a green surface is a sheet of the yellow coloured paper.
Tom says, TAKE A SHEET OF COLOURED PAPER
AND CUT ABOUT A THIRD
OF IT LENGTHWAYS.
A dotted line indicates where a third of the paper is. The paper separates from there.
Tom says, LIKE THIS.
SET THIS BIT ASIDE FOR LATER.
NOW FOLD ABOUT A CENTIMETER
FROM THE BOTTOM FORWARDS
THEN FOLD IT BACKWARDS.
AND KEEP FOLDING FORWARDS .
AND BACKWARDS,
ALL THE WAY UP THE PAPER
WHEN YOU UNFOLD IT,
IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS.
The remaining paper is folded as instructed over each side until the entire paper forms an accordion shape.
(Upbeat music plays)
Tom says, DO THE SAME WITH THE OTHER PIECE
OF COLOURED PAPER.
NOW YOU'VE GOT
TWO CRINKLY STRIPS.
PINCH AND FOLD IN THE MIDDLE
HOLD THEM TOGETHER LIKE THIS.
The two pieces of accordion paper are folded in half. The folded ends are placed together.
Tom says, AND TIE THEM UP WITH STRING.
The papers are tied together around their folded ends.
Tom says, CUT OFF ANY EXTRA STRING.
The extra string is trimmed.
The monster with the sign appears and says, BE CAREFUL WITH SCISSORS!
Tom says, AND USE THE GLUE STICK
TO CLEAR THE INNER EDGES
OF THE BOWS
TOGETHER,
TO MAKE THE CIRCLE.
The inner pieces of paper are glued to each other until they form a circle.
Tom says, NOW TAKE YOUR
EXTRA STRIP OF PAPER
AND CUT IT DOWN
THE MIDDLE LIKE THIS.
An extra strip of paper is split in half length wise.
Tom says, THEN CUT OUT TWO TRIANGLES
AT THE BOTTOM OF EACH STRIP
TO MAKE THE RIBBONS.
Triangles are cut from the bottoms of the strips and the strips are trimmed.
Tom says, FIX THEM TO THE BACK
OF THE ROSETTE
WITH SOME STICKY TAPE LIKE THIS.
The strips are stuck to the back of the circle of folded paper.
Tom says, TAKE YOUR WHITE PIECE OF PAPER,
DRAW A CIRCLE AND DESIGN
FOR THE CENTER OF YOUR ROSETTE.
A star is drawn in a circle on white paper. Doodles are added around the star and are coloured red.
Tom says, CUT IT OUT.
USE A LARGE GLOB OF GLUE
IN THE CENTER
TO FIX IT TO THE FRONT.
The cut circle is glued to the centre of the folded paper circle.
Tom says, PERFECT.
YOU HAVE YOUR VERY OWN ROSETTE.
YOU CAN MAKE YOUR ROSETTE
WITH ANY COLOR
OR PATTERNS THAT YOU LIKE.
Other rosettes are displayed that are made of different sized paper, colours and circle designs. A now muddy Rooster smiles as he wears his rosette. Also muddy, Tom and Derek stand beside Rooster.
Tom says, SEE? IT'S REALLY TRUE.
PETS DO LOOK LIKE THEIR OWNERS.
Rooster jumps up on Derek. Derek puts his arm around Rooster. Rooster jumps up on Tom and barks. Tom smiles. Rooster runs and plays.

Liz continues painting, revealing the rest of the crayon drawing with the blue water colour.
She says, NOW, CAN YOU SEE

TO HAVE A DARK COLOR AS WELL?
IT REALLY STANDS OUT.
Liz adds extra colour to parts of the painting, turning it darker, and reveals the rest of the curved doodles around the four stars of the painting.
Liz says, IT'S NICE BECAUSE THESE ARE
THE SAME DOODLE PATTERNS
THAT YOU MIGHT SEE ON THE BOOKS.
BUT JUST DONE
IN A VERY DIFFERENT WAY.
Liz pauses.
She says, RIGHT, THERE YOU GO.
FINISHED! ALL DONE.
Liz puts her paint brush in the cup of water.
She says, WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I THINK IT LOOKS GREAT.
AND YOU COULD TRY
DOING A MONSTER,
YOU COULD DO MORE DOODLES,
MAKE UP YOUR OWN PATTERNS.
IT'S JUST A DIFFERENT TECHNIQUE

Tom says, MMM. I THINK THEY DO.

Derek and Rooster smile similarly in a photo of them beside each other.
Tom says, HERE ARE FIVE PETS,
SOME OF MY CLASSMATES
AND MY TEACHER FROM SCHOOL.

(Upbeat music plays)
Under shadows of five people are pictures of 5 different pets. The pets include a dog with pigtails, a dog with curly hair and a furrowed brow, a hamster with curly hair and a headband, a cat with big eyes and a furrowed brow as well as a lizard.
Tom says, THERE’S FLORENCE MITCHELL.
The first shadow is revealed to be a girl with curly hair who’s wearing a headband.
Tom says, MARK CLUMP.
Mark wears glasses.
Tom says, HE HAS A LOT OF PETS.
MR. FULLERMAN.
Mr. Fullerman is revealed to be the third shadow. He has big eyes and a furrowed brow.
He says, TOM,
HAVE YOU DONE YOUR HOMEWORK?
Tom says, YES, SIR.
Tom nods.
He whispers, I DIDN'T KNOW
I HAD ANY HOMEWORK.
The fourth shadow is revealed to be a girl with pigtails.
Tom says, AMY PORTER…
The fifth shadow is revealed to be a boy with curly hair and a furrowed brow.
Tom says, …AND MARCUS MELDREW.
I BET HIS PET'S ANNOYING.
Marcus gasps.
Tom says, OK, HERE WE GO.
MATCH THE FACE TO THE PET!
A yellow strip begins to fill as time passes.
Tom says, IT’S QUITE TRICKY BUT,
THEY DO ALL LOOK
A BIT LIKE THEIR OWNERS.
(Clock ticking)
Tom says, TIME'S NEARLY UP.
HAVE YOU MATCHED THEM UP YET?
The timer ends and the owners and the pets rapidly change spots multiple times until the pets match their owners. Arrows point from the owners to the pets. Florence is the owner of the hamster, Mark the lizard, Mr. Fullerman the cat, Amy the dog with pigtails and Marcus the dog with curly hair.
Tom says, THAT'S IT!
HOW MANY DID YOU GET?
The arrows matching the owners to the pets disappear.
Tom says, TALKING OF PETS...
Outside the bathtub, Rooster grumbles.
Tom says, …ME AND MY BEST FRIEND DEREK
HAVE BEEN GETTING HIS DOG
ROOSTER READY FOR A DOG SHOW.
Derek says, WE MIGHT JUST MAKE
THE DOG SHOW, IF WE HURRY.
Tom says, GREAT. LET’S DRY ROOSTER
AND GIVE HIM A BRUSH.
Derek says, I DON'T HAVE A BRUSH.
Tom says, I DO. IT'S OK.
I'VE ONLY BORROWED IT
FROM MY SISTER DELIA.
SHE'LL NEVER KNOW.
Tom smiles. A clock ticks. Outside on the blanket, Rooster sparkles.
Derek says, ALL DONE.
A gust of wind blows past Tom and Derek. Tom looks worried. The friends look at Rooster just as the wind reaches him and fluffs his hair.
(Sigh)
Tom says, EH. IT COULD BE WORSE.
Derek says, AT LEAST HE'S CLEAN.
Tom says, COME ON, ROOSTER! WE NEED TO GO
OR WE'LL MISS THE DOG SHOW.
Rooster barks and follows Tom and Derek. In the bathroom, Delia stands by the bathtub full of bubbles with her hairbrush. She pulls out a dog hair and gasps.
Delia says, TOM!
People sing, WELCOME

Rooster frowns.
(Ominous music plays)
Rooster barks.
Tom and Darek say, ROOSTER! NOOO!
Rooster runs and jumps in a muddy puddle. He smiles as he splashes around.
Tom says, YOU CAN BE A CHAMPION TOO
WITH YOUR OWN WINNERS ROSETTE!
Tom and Derek wear rosette ribbons. Rooster shakes mud off himself and sprays Tom and Derek.
Tom says, LET'S MAKE-IT!
(upbeat electronic music)
Tom says, LET'S MAKE OUR VERY OWN ROSETTE.
Arrows point to a yellow rosette with a white star in the middle on red paper.
Tom says, YOU WILL NEED
TWO SHEETS OF COLOUR PAPER,
ONE SHEET OF WHITE PAPER,
SOME STRING,
SOME PVA GLUE,
STICKY TAPE,
SCISSORS….
On a surface with the collection of items required, a monster pops up with a sign that reads, be careful with scissors.
The monster says, BE CAREFUL WITH SCISSORS!
Tom says, COLOURED PENS…
A bug carries a glue stick and says, AND THE GLUE STICK.
Tom says, …YEAH, AND THE GLUE STICK.
The bug says, WELL, YOU WANT ONE?
Tom says, YEAH!
The bug celebrates and says, OH YEAH!
Tom says, OKAY.
A blue monster holds a timer that ticks as it begins to fill with the colour green.
Tom says, ALL RIGHT, GOT ALL THAT?
FANTASTIC! LET'S GET MAKE-IT!
On a green surface is a sheet of the yellow coloured paper.
Tom says, TAKE A SHEET OF COLOURED PAPER
AND CUT ABOUT A THIRD
OF IT LENGTHWAYS.
A dotted line indicates where a third of the paper is. The paper separates from there.
Tom says, LIKE THIS.
SET THIS BIT ASIDE FOR LATER.
NOW FOLD ABOUT A CENTIMETER
FROM THE BOTTOM FORWARDS
THEN FOLD IT BACKWARDS.
AND KEEP FOLDING FORWARDS .
AND BACKWARDS,
ALL THE WAY UP THE PAPER
WHEN YOU UNFOLD IT,
IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS.
The remaining paper is folded as instructed over each side until the entire paper forms an accordion shape.
(Upbeat music plays)
Tom says, DO THE SAME WITH THE OTHER PIECE
OF COLOURED PAPER.
NOW YOU'VE GOT
TWO CRINKLY STRIPS.
PINCH AND FOLD IN THE MIDDLE
HOLD THEM TOGETHER LIKE THIS.
The two pieces of accordion paper are folded in half. The folded ends are placed together.
Tom says, AND TIE THEM UP WITH STRING.
The papers are tied together around their folded ends.
Tom says, CUT OFF ANY EXTRA STRING.
The extra string is trimmed.
The monster with the sign appears and says, BE CAREFUL WITH SCISSORS!
Tom says, AND USE THE GLUE STICK
TO CLEAR THE INNER EDGES
OF THE BOWS
TOGETHER,
TO MAKE THE CIRCLE.
The inner pieces of paper are glued to each other until they form a circle.
Tom says, NOW TAKE YOUR
EXTRA STRIP OF PAPER
AND CUT IT DOWN
THE MIDDLE LIKE THIS.
An extra strip of paper is split in half length wise.
Tom says, THEN CUT OUT TWO TRIANGLES
AT THE BOTTOM OF EACH STRIP
TO MAKE THE RIBBONS.
Triangles are cut from the bottoms of the strips and the strips are trimmed.
Tom says, FIX THEM TO THE BACK
OF THE ROSETTE
WITH SOME STICKY TAPE LIKE THIS.
The strips are stuck to the back of the circle of folded paper.
Tom says, TAKE YOUR WHITE PIECE OF PAPER,
DRAW A CIRCLE AND DESIGN
FOR THE CENTER OF YOUR ROSETTE.
A star is drawn in a circle on white paper. Doodles are added around the star and are coloured red.
Tom says, CUT IT OUT.
USE A LARGE GLOB OF GLUE
IN THE CENTER
TO FIX IT TO THE FRONT.
The cut circle is glued to the centre of the folded paper circle.
Tom says, PERFECT.
YOU HAVE YOUR VERY OWN ROSETTE.
YOU CAN MAKE YOUR ROSETTE
WITH ANY COLOR
OR PATTERNS THAT YOU LIKE.
Other rosettes are displayed that are made of different sized paper, colours and circle designs. A now muddy Rooster smiles as he wears his rosette. Also muddy, Tom and Derek stand beside Rooster.
Tom says, SEE? IT'S REALLY TRUE.
PETS DO LOOK LIKE THEIR OWNERS.
Rooster jumps up on Derek. Derek puts his arm around Rooster. Rooster jumps up on Tom and barks. Tom smiles. Rooster runs and plays.
(Energetic music plays)
