(Bell tinkling)

Derek and his dog, Rooster, walk to a gate in a fence. Behind the fence, Tom sits in a backyard.

Rooster jumps up.

(Dog barking)

Tom sits under a tree, reading a comic book.

(Tom sighs)

Tom says, IT'S SUCH A NICE WARM SUNNY DAY. DAD GOT ALL EXCITED ABOUT THE GOOD WEATHER AND ONLY WENT AND INVITED... THE REST OF THE FAMILY OVER TO EAT.

Six people walk into the backyard.

Uncle Kevin says, HELLO EVERYONE!

Mum says, HELLO! COME IN.

Granny Mavis says, HELLO TOM!

Uncle Kevin says, GETTING ABOUT THE SAUSAGES AGAIN, ARE YOU?

Tom says, SO, I'M MAKING THE MOST OF THE SUNSHINE WHILE I CAN. BECAUSE IT WON'T LAST LONG. IT NEVER DOES! ESPECIALLY IF ANYONE SAYS...

Tom opens an umbrella.

Dad calls, BARBEQUE!

Dad flips a burger on a small grill. He wears an apron and a hat.

Clouds roll in and cover the sun.

(Heavy rain)

(Wind)

Everyone mutters, AWW!

Uncle Kevin says, TYPICAL!

Tom shakes his head under the umbrella.

(Heavy rain pouring)

Mum says, EVERYTIME...

Uncle Kevin says, ONLY YOU WOULD HAVE A BARBEQUE ON A RAINY DAY WOULDN'T YOU BROTHER...EH?

Dad says, QUICK!

Everyone runs inside. Tom stays under the tree.

(Chimes)

Liz draws with a pen.

Liz says, THIS DOODLE IS JUST MADE UP OF... LOTS OF CURVED LINES.

(Upbeat music plays)

Liz says, YOU JUST NEED A PIECE OF PAPER AND A PEN.

Liz draws curved lines on top of each other.

Liz says, IT CAN BE ANY KIND OF PEN. BUT IF YOU ARE USING A PERMANENT PEN, MIND YOUR FINGERS!

(Chiming sounds)

Liz says, SEE I’M JUST DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Tom says, I WONDER WHAT IT'S GOING TO BE!

Liz fills more of the page with the curved lines.

Liz says, SO EACH LINE FOLLOWS THE NEXT ONE.

(Upbeat music continues)

Liz says, THESE ONES ARE ALL GOING TO BE FACING THE SAME DIRECTION.

The pile of curved lines angles slightly as the drawing reaches the middle of the page.

Liz says, NOW I AM MAKING IT GO OVER... AND JUST MAKING THE CURVES JUST A BIT TIGHTER TOGETHER.

The drawing curves like a large wave.

Liz says, SO YOU CAN PROBABLY WORK OUT WHAT THE DOODLE IS NOW.

(Upbeat music continues)

Liz says, IT'S A SEA WAVE DOODLE! JUST MADE UP OF LOTS OF CURVED LINES LIKE THAT! GOING TO ADD SOMETHING TO THE TOP. GOING TO DO IT IN PENCIL FIRST.

Liz draws a surfing bug on the top of the wave.

Liz says, TAKE MY BRUSH PEN.

Liz outlines the bug in dark lines.

The bug wears dark sunglasses as it rides a surfboard.

(Upbeat music continues)

Tom says, WOW, THAT'S COOL!

Liz says, I'M JUST ADDING A LITTLE BIT OF SHADOW. THERE WE ARE, YOU HAVE GOT YOUR WAVE PATTERN WITH AN ADDED SURFING BUG. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

The drawing animates and moves.

Tom says, STICKY TAPE AND A PEN.

A black and white bug carries a glue stick.

The bug asks, AND A GLUE STICK?

Tom says, SORRY, WE DON'T NEED A GLUE STICK.

The bug sighs, AWW, ALRIGHT!

Tom says, AWKWARD...

A blue monster holds a timer.

(Timer ticks down)

Tom says, OKAY, GOT ALL THAT? LET'S GET MAKING!

(Bell rings)

Tom says, GET YOUR PAPER AND ROLL IT INTO A TUBE AND THEN STICK IT TOGETHER WITH TAPE. STAND UP THE TUBE AND CUT STRIPS WITH YOUR SCISSORS FROM THE TOP... TO ABOUT A THIRD OF THE WAY DOWN, LIKE THIS! DO THIS A FEW TIMES SO YOU HAVE LOT'S OF LITTLE STRIPS, LIKE THIS!

The top of the tube is cut into strips.

(Groovy music continues)

Tom says, NOW CURL EACH STRIP OVER TO GIVE YOUR TREE SOME LEAVES!

(Groovy music continues)

Mum and Dad stare out a window.

(Rain pouring)

Mum says, I THOUGHT YOU CHECKED THE WEATHER, FRANK?

Dad says, I DID!

Mum says, DID YOU LOOK ON THE INTERNET OR JUST OUT THE WINDOW?

Dad says, HMM. OUT THE WINDOW.

Mum says, AWW!

Delia walks through the kitchen reading a magazine.

Tom says, WELL, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE SUN! BUT THAT DOES MEAN WE'VE GOT TIME FOR... PLAY-IT!

A title reads: Play It!

(Seagull noises)

A paper palm tree is on a beach. The bug unrolls a towel and lies on it.

Tom says, OKAY, HERE'S A TRICKY ONE!

A gull swoops down and knocks the bug’s sunglasses off.

(Squawk)

Tom says, TAKE A LOOK AT THIS... IS IT THE SUN? OR A BUN? LOOK CAREFULLY! IT'S GOLDEN, IT'S GLOWING! BUT WHICH IS IT? LOVELY WARM SUN? OR A LOVELY WARM BUN? TIME'S NEARLY UP!

(Ding)

The sun turns into a bun.

Tom says, IT'S A BUN! EH! AND IT'S ALL FOR ME!
