[Upbeat music plays]

Ranger Hamza walks behind three children who wear bright orange shirts. Hamza wears a red shirt and wears his long, waist length black hair tied back.

[Mooing, children shout]

A child sings, WALKING IN THE COUNTRY,
BY THE SEA OR IN THE TOWN
SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS TO SEE

Children look at sheep. Hamza and a girl move pinch their fingers together as they move sideways.

A boy says, HELLO TREE!

The child sings, IF YOU STOP TO LOOK AROUND
OPEN YOUR EYES, OPEN YOUR EARS
PAUSE AND TAKE THINGS IN
LET'S PACK OUR BAG, GET KITTED OUT

A boy hits a ball with a bat.

[Thunk]

The child sings, LET THE WALK BEGIN
LET'S GO FOR A WALK

A girl jumps excitedly as she holds a clear umbrella over her head.

[Child shouts]

The child sings, WITH RANGER HAMZA BY OUR SIDE

A girl says, WE'RE HUGGING THE TREE.

The child sings, LET'S GO FOR A WALK
THERE'S ADVENTURE WITH EVERY STRIDE
LET'S GO FOR A WALK.

A child shouts, FLOWERS!

Ranger Hamza walks under a bridge as children run over it.

Children sing, AHH, AHH, AHH

The child sings, IN EVERY KIND OF WEATHER.

Children sing, AHH, AHH, AHH

The child sings, LET'S GO FOR A WALK.

Children walk around the trunk of a large tree.

Children sing, AHH, AHH, AHH

The child sings, EXPLORE OUTSIDE TOGETHER

Animated footprints move around houses and buildings on a hill. To the upper left of the hill, an animated cloud blocks the edge of a sun. Snowflakes fall from the cloud. Beneath the snowflakes, a dark blue cloud floats. To the upper right of the hill, snowflakes fall from a cloud. Beneath that, a second snow cloud floats by a crescent moon. Text reads “Let’s go for a Walk.”

[Footsteps, chimes, upbeat music plays, birds chirp]

Ranger Hamza reads a book while he sits in a chair on a porch in front of his Ranger Hut. Hamza wears a dark red shirt.

Hamza says, HI THERE.
I'M RANGER HAMZA.
WELCOME TO MY HUT.

PART OF MY JOB HERE IS TO LOOK
AFTER THE TREES.

I LOVE LEARNING ALL ABOUT THEM,
SO I BORROWED THIS BOOK FROM
THE LIBRARY.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DIFFERENT
TREES YOU CAN DISCOVER.

THE BOOK WAS REALLY HELPFUL.

NOW, I KNOW THIS LEAF IS FROM A
SYCAMORE TREE. I CAN TELL BY ITS
SHAPE, BECAUSE IT'S GOT
FIVE POINTS.

SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT WANT THIS
BOOK, SO I'M GOING FOR A WALK
WITH THE RAMBLERS TO TAKE IT
BACK TO THE LIBRARY.

DO YOU WANT TO COME ALONG?

COME ON, THEN.

LET'S GO FOR A WALK.

Hamza smiles.

[Popping, slide whistles]

Hamza says, IT LOOKS LIKE IT
MIGHT RAIN TODAY, BUT THE
RAMBLERS DON'T MIND.

THEY'VE GOT THEIR WATERPROOFS
ON. THERE'S OLLIE, MARNIN,
AND LEILA.

Ollie, Marnin, and Leila wear bright orange raincoats. Ollie wears his red hair short. Marnin wears his black hair short with pointed sideburns. Leila wears her long brown hair loose.

Hamza narrates, WE'RE GOING TO MEET
UP AND WALK ALONG A BUSY STREET
ON THE WAY TO THE LIBRARY. I WONDER
WHAT WE'LL SPOT ON THE WAY.

On an animated map, footprints move on a grey sidewalk from a blue dot, turn left after three blocks, and stop at a yellow building.

Hamza says, HI, GUYS!

Leila says, HI!

Hamza says, TIME TO SAY CHEERIO
TO MUM AND GET ON OUR WALK.

Ollie, Marnin, and Leila say, BYE!

Hamza says, SEE YOU LATER!

LOOK AT THESE COLOURFUL
FLOWERS. WHAT COLOUR IS IT?

Kids shout, YELLOW.

Ollie sniffs a yellow flower.

Ollie says, THEY SMELL NICE, TOO.

Hamza asks, CAN I SMELL IT?

Marnin points at a plant.

Marnin says, THAT LOOKS LIKE
A HEDGEHOG!

Hamza says, AH, IT SMELLS LIKE ROSES.

Marnin repeats, THAT LOOKS LIKE
A HEDGEHOG.

[Hamza laughs]

Hamza says, THE LEAVES ARE ALL
SPIKY, LIKE A HEDGEHOG.

WHAT ELSE CAN WE SEE?

[Buzzing]

Marnin says, I SEE A BEE.

Hamza says, THIS BUSY BEE
IS HARD AT WORK.

Marnin says, IT'S COLLECTING NECTAR.

Hamza asks, IS IT THEN GOING
TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE HIVE?

Marnin says, YEAH.

Ollie suggests, SO, I MEAN, WE COULD
STAY AWAY FROM THAT.

Hamza says, WE DON'T WANT TO
ANNOY THE BEE.

Marnin says, HE WILL STING YOU.

Hamza says, HE'LL STING US, YEAH,
SO WE SHOULDN'T REALLY
TOUCH HIM.

Marnin says, AND THERE WILL BE
A SPOT.

Hamza says, WE'LL LET THE BEE
GET ON WITH ITS JOB, AND WE'LL
CARRY ON WITH OUR WALK.

Hamza crouches down beside Ollie as Ollie points to domes on a temple.

Ollie asks, YOU SEE THOSE
POINTY BITS?

Hamza narrates, THESE POINTY BITS ARE
CALLED DOMES, AND THEY'RE ON A
ROOF OF A SIKH TEMPLE.

HOW MANY ARE THERE?

Marnin says, ONE DOWN THERE,
ONE UP THERE.

Olli says, AH, THAT ONE'S A
GOLDEN ONE.

Marnin says, AND THAT ONE.

Hamza says, LET'S COUNT
THEM TOGETHER.

THERE'S ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR,
FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, AND THE BIG
GOLDEN ONE AT THE TOP
MAKES EIGHT.

Blue numbers appear above domes as Hamza counts them.

[Chimes]

Hamza asks, WHAT'S IT MADE OF,
DO YOU THINK?

Ollie says, PLASTIC.

Hamza says, PLASTIC?

Leila says, METAL!

Hamza says, METAL.

Marnin says, GOLD!

Hamza says, GOLD.
WHATEVER IT'S MADE FROM,
IT LOOKS AMAZING.

WE'VE SEEN SOME POINTY ROOFS
ALREADY. I WONDER IF WE CAN SEE
ANY MORE ON OUR WALK TODAY.

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR DIFFERENT
TYPES OF POINTY ROOFS.

WE'LL SEE HOW MANY YOU SPOTTED
AT THE END.

ALRIGHT, THEN, LET'S GO.

Animated footprints walk to a striped crosswalk and stop. They walk across.

[Ticking, ding, whooshing]

[Car engine, squeaking]

Ollie asks, CAN YOU HEAR THE
SOUNDS OF THE CITY?

Marnin says, I CAN HEAR THE CARS.
CARS AGAIN.

Hamza says, YOU CAN HEAR
CARS AGAIN?

[Splashing]

Ollie says, WALKING.

Leila says, PEOPLE ARE RUSHING
ABOUT, TRYING TO GET TO WORK.

[Horns honk]

Hamza says, LISTEN. CAN YOU HEAR
THAT RUMBLING SOUND?

A train chugs along a track. Hamza and the children stand behind a tall green metal fence as they watch the train pass.

[Rumbling]

Leila shouts, A TRAIN!

Hamza says, A TRAIN!
LET'S WAVE TO THE TRAIN DRIVER.

BYE, TRAIN DRIVER!

Hamza, Leila, Ollie, and Marnin shout, BYE!

Hamza says, BYE!
CAN YOU HEAR, LIKE--

[Imitates chugging train]

Ollie says, BUT IT'S MAKING THIS NOISE.

[Squeals]

Leila says, TOOT, TOOT!

Ollie says, CHUGGA, CHUGGA, TOOT, TOOT.
CHUGGA, CHUGGA, TOOT, TOOT.

[Squeaking]

Hamza says, AND THEN WHEN
IT BRAKES, WHAT NOISE DOES
IT MAKE?

(Children screech and hiss)

Hamza asks, AND THEN WHEN
THE DOORS OPEN?

[Children squeak and hiss]

Ollie says, IT MAKES THAT SOUND.

Hamza says, SO, THAT'S THE TRAIN
GONE, GUYS. SHALL WE GO THIS
WAY? YEAH?

Marnin asks, WHAT WAY?

Hamza says, COME ON, THEN.
FOLLOW ME.

[Train chugs]

Ollie says, CHUGGA, CHUGGA,
TOOT, TOOT.

CHUGGA, CHUGGA, TOOT, TOOT.

Vehicles wait at a red traffic light at an intersection.

Ollie says, THE TRAFFIC IS WAITING.
THEY WON'T GO UNTIL THEY SEE
THE LIGHTS CHANGE FROM RED
TO GREEN.

AND NOW, WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR
OUR TURN.

Leila pushes a white button.

[Chime]

A signal changes from a red hand to a green person walking. Hamza, Leila, Ollie, and Marnin cross a street together.

[Beeping]

A blue metal shutter lifts.

[Engine]

Hamza says, AH, THAT'S COOL.
WHAT CAN YOU SEE?

Marnin and Ollie crouch and look under the rising metal shutter. As the shutter rises, it reveals a store window with shoes and boots on display.

Marnin says, LOOK!

[Squeaking]

Children explain, THESE SHUTTERS
ARE NOISY.

THEY'RE SQUEAKING LIKE
LITTLE MICE.

LIKE A PORTCULLIS IN A CASTLE.

An animated knight brandishes a sword as it peers out of the window.

[Wobbling, metal clicks]

Hamza asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK'S
GOING TO BE BEHIND THE WINDOW?

Marnin says, A TOY!

Marnin points.

Ollie says, I SEE A TOY.

Leila says, A TOY.

Hamza asks, DID YOU SEE A TOY?

A child says, THESE BOLLARDS
ARE LIKE SOLDIERS GUARDING
THE STREET.

An animated soldier salutes.

[Trumpet flourish]

Hamza says, LOOKS LIKE THE
FIRST RAIN SHOWER OF THE
DAY. UMBRELLAS UP.

[Rain pitter patters]

A child says, LEAVES ARE
WATERPROOF, SO THE RAIN
JUST FALLS OFF THEM AND
ONTO THE GROUND.

THEN THE TREE CAN DRINK THE
WATER UP THROUGH ITS ROOTS.

Hamza says, AH.

Ollie says, AH, THERE'S THAT
POLE THING.

A child says, THE HAIRDRESSER.

Hamza says, AH, YEAH, IT'S
A HAIRDRESSER. IT'S A BARBER.
DO YOU THINK I NEED A HAIRCUT?

The children say, YES!

Hamza says, OH, LOOK, IT'S GOT
A COOL MACHINE OUTSIDE.

A blue, red, and white pole spins.

A child says, THIS IS A SIGN FOR
A BARBERSHOP.

Marnin says, BLUE AND RED
AND WHITE.

Hamza says, BLUE AND RED AND
WHITE, AND IT'S SWIRLING AROUND
REALLY, REALLY, REALLY FAST.

SWIRLING ROUND AND ROUND,
LIKE A BARBER'S POLE.

Hamza, Ollie, Marnin, and Leila hold their umbrellas as they spin.

[Rain falls]

Hamza says, WHOA.
OH, I'M GETTING DIZZY.

Ollie and Leila say, I'M NOT.

Hamza says, YOU'RE NOT DIZZY?

OH, YOU GUYS ARE GOOD AT THIS.

[Upbeat music plays]

A child asks, DO YOU THINK IT'S LIKE
A HELTER-SKELTER SLIDE? BUT IT
GOES UP INSTEAD OF DOWN.

Marnin says, HELLO.

Hamza says, WE'RE HALFWAY THROUGH
OUR WALK TO THE LIBRARY NOW.

WE'VE ALREADY SEEN A TEMPLE,
PASSED THE TRAIN STATION...

[Train rumbles]

Hamza says, AND THE BARBER'S POLE.

The footprints move on the animated map past a temple, train, and barber pole.

[Slide whistle, popping, boing, buzzing]

Hamza says, I WONDER WHAT ELSE
WE'LL FIND ON OUR WALK.

[Children shout, upbeat music plays]

Hamza says, THERE'S PLENTY TO SPOT
ON THIS OLD CHURCH.

CAN YOU SEE ALL THE DIFFERENT
SHAPED WINDOWS?

Leila points and says, AND LOOK,
THERE'S SQUARE WINDOWS.

[Chimes]

Ollie says, WELL, SOME OF THEM
ARE RECTANGLES.

Green lines outline rectangular windows.

Marnin says, I SEE THE CIRCLE!
LOOK!

Hamza says, AND WHAT'S THIS
DOWN HERE?

A green line outlines a circular window.

Ollie says, THERE'S GRASS GROWING
ON THE WALLS.

Hamza says, IT'S ACTUALLY CALLED
LICHEN. IT'S LIKE A PLANT.

IT GROWS ON ROCKS AND TREES AND
CAN LIVE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS.

HOW OLD DO YOU THINK THE CHURCH
IS THAT IT'S GROWING ON?

Marnin says, NINETY-NINE YEARS.

Ollie shouts, ONE HUNDRED!

Leila says, I THINK IT'S INFINITY.

Hamza says, INFINITY?
THAT'S A LONG TIME.

Hamza narrates, ALL GOOD GUESSES,
BUT OLLIE WAS THE CLOSEST.

THIS CHURCH IS OVER ONE
HUNDRED AND THIRTY YEARS
OLD, AND LOOK HOW TALL IT IS.

THERE'S SOMETHING LIVING AT THE
TOP OF THE STEEPLE: SOME SMALL
TREES! PLANTS FIND THE MOST
AMAZING PLACES TO GROW.

[Car engine, squeaking]

A child says, WOW!
LOOK AT ALL THESE FRUIT!

Hamza asks, CAN YOU SEE
ALL THE COLOURS?

Leila says, YEAH.

Hamza says, THESE BOXES OF FRUIT
LOOK LIKE TREASURE CHESTS FULL
OF JEWELS.

Animated rubies appear over tomatoes.

[Boing, boing, boing]

Hamza says, THE TOMATOES ARE
LIKE RUBIES. AND THE CUCUMBERS
ARE LIKE GIANT EMERALDS.

HI.

A man leans against a doorframe. He wears his black hair and moustache short. He wears a black jacket and black pants.

The shopkeeper says, HOW ARE YOU?

Hamza says, WE'RE COMING TO BUY
SOME FRUIT. IS THAT OKAY?

The shopkeeper says, YEAH, YEAH, GO ON.

Hamza says, AWESOME.

WE CAN CHOOSE THE ONES THAT
WE WANT AND FIND SOMEWHERE
TO EAT THEM.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE FRUIT?
WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

THERE'S SO MUCH FRUIT, AND THEY
ALL FEEL DIFFERENT TO TOUCH.

Hamza asks, WHAT DOES THAT
ONE FEEL LIKE?

Ollie says, HARD!

Hamza says, HARD. DO YOU WANT
TO TAKE THIS BUNCH?

Hamza gives Leila a bunch of grapes.

She says, YEAH. SOFT.

Hamza says, SOFT AND SQUIDGY.
ALRIGHT, SO, LEILA'S GOT GRAPES.

Ollie sniffs a red apple. Marnin holds a cucumber.

Hamza says, AN APPLE.

Ollie says, TASTY!

Hamza says, I'M GOING TO
TAKE STRAWBERRIES.

IF YOU SEE HERE, ALL THESE
LITTLE YELLOW DOTS, THESE ARE
THE SEEDS.

AND MOST FRUIT HAVE THE SEEDS ON
THE INSIDE, BUT THE STRAWBERRY
HAVE IT ON THE OUTSIDE.

SO, I'M GOING TO TAKE THESE
ONES. I LIKE THESE.

Marnin holds up a red apple.

Hamza asks, YOU CHOOSE THAT
ONE? ALRIGHT, YOU TWO ARE
TAKING APPLES, AND YOU'RE
TAKING GRAPES, YEAH?

[Crinkling]

Hamza says, THE PAPER BAG
MAKES A BRILLIANT
CRINKLY-CRUMPLE SOUND.

The shopkeeper says, THANK
YOU SO MUCH.

Leila says, THANK YOU.

Hamza says,: THANK YOU!
SAY BYE!

Leila says, BYE.

The shopkeeper says, CHEERS. BYE.

Hamza says, COME ON.

A child asks, WHERE ARE WE
GOING NEXT?

Hamza says, WE'RE GOING TO FIND
A PLACE WE CAN SIT AND EAT THEM.

A gull perches on top of a church spire.

[Car engine, gull calling]

Hamza narrates, I'M SURE THIS GULL
CAN SEE A GOOD PLACE FOR US TO
SIT FROM WHERE HE'S STANDING.

HE'S FOUND THE HIGHEST PLACE IN
THE STREET.

THERE'S NOWHERE TO SIT HERE...
OR HERE.

HEY, GUYS, LOOK AT THIS BENCH.

Hamza points to a wooden green bench beside a house.

Marnin says, SO COOL.

Hamza says, AH.
BUT WE CAN'T SIT ON IT.
IT'S IN SOMEONE'S GARDEN.

DO YOU SEE THE GRASS GROWING
THROUGH IT?

Children say, YEAH.

Hamza says, WHAT DO YOU THINK
CAME FIRST, THE GRASS OR
THE BENCH?

Marnin says, THE GRASS.

Leila syas, THE BENCH.

Hamza repeats, THE BENCH.

Ollie says, THE GRASS!

Hamza repeats, THE GRASS.

Ollie explains, THEN IT WILL
ALL COVER IT.

Animated grass covers the bench as a monkey swings past on a vine.

A child says, IT MIGHT TURN
INTO A JUNGLE.

[Rustling, monkey calls, slide whistle]

Hamza asks, SHALL WE GO AND
FIND A BENCH THAT WE CAN
SIT ON?

The children say, YEAH.

Hamza says, COME ON, THEN.
LET'S GO.

Children sing, LET'S GO FOR A WALK.
EXPLORE OUTSIDE TOGETHER.

[Popping, slide whistle]

Hamza rinses an apple with water from a water bottle. He gives the apple to Marnin as they sit on a bench.

Hamza says, THAT'S FOR YOU.
THERE WE GO.

Leila holds up her grapes.

She says, THIS TASTES LIKE SWEETS.

Hamza says, IT TASTES LIKE SWEETIES?
MINE TASTES REALLY SWEET.
MMM, DELICIOUS.

Leila says, THEY'RE SO SOFT.

Hamza says, RIGHT, GUYS, DO YOU
REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TODAY?
CAN ANYONE REMEMBER?

[Upbeat music plays]

Animated footprints move from the temple to the train and the barber pole.

[Slide whistle]

Hamza says, WE MET UP NEAR THE TEMPLE...
AND LISTENED TO THE TRAINS IN
THE STATION.

[Train rumbles]

Ollie says, CHUGGA, CHUGGA,
TOOT, TOOT.

Hamza says, WE SPUN AROUND,
LIKE THE BARBER'S POLE.

Hamza says, WHOA.

[Church bells ring]

Hamza says, AND THEN WE LOOKED
AT THE OLD CHURCH AND TRIED
TO GUESS HOW OLD IT WAS.

Marnin says, NINETY-NINE YEARS.

Ollie says, ONE HUNDRED!

Leila says, INFINITY.

Hamza says, WE CHOSE SOME
FRUIT FROM THE SHOP.

Ollie shouts, TASTY!

Hamza says, AND TRIED TO FIND A
PLACE TO SIT AND EAT IT, AND WE
DISCOVERED A BENCH GETTING
SWALLOWED UP BY PLANTS.

A child says, THEN IT WILL ALL
COVER IT.

Hamza says, WE COULDN'T SIT
THERE, BUT WE FOUND A PARK
BENCH TO SIT ON INSTEAD.

Leila says, THIS TASTES LIKE SWEETS.

Hamza says, AND NOW, WE'RE ALMOST
AT THE LIBRARY.

BEFORE WE GO IN, DO YOU REMEMBER
I TOLD YOU TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR
POINTY ROOFS? HOW MANY DID YOU GET?

THE FIRST ONE WE SAW WAS ON THE
TEMPLE. DID YOU SPOT ANY OF
THESE ONES?

[Relaxing music plays]

Hamza says, THAT GULL WAS
PERCHED ON A POINTY ROOF.

Animated footprints stop at a crosswalk and cross after a ding.

[Ticking, ding, whoosh]

Hamza says, WE'RE AT THE LIBRARY.
SHALL WE GO AND PUT MY
BOOKS BACK?

Children cheer, YEAH!

Hamza asks, YEAH?

A child says, WE HAVE TO BE
QUIET INSIDE.

Leila says, BE QUIET.

Hamza says, HI, I'D LIKE TO
RETURN A BOOK IF THAT'S OKAY.

A woman with wavy blonde hair sits behind a counter.

The blonde-haired woman says, THAT'S
PERFECT. THANKS.

Hamza puts his book, “British Trees,” on the counter.

Hamza says, THANK YOU.

The blonde-haired woman says, NO
TROUBLE, SIR.

Hamza asks, DO YOU GUYS WANT
TO FIND A BOOK THAT YOU LIKE?

A child says, YEAH.

Hamza says, WELL, THAT'S OUR WALK
TO THE LIBRARY OVER.

WE CERTAINLY ENJOYED IT.
I HOPE YOU DID.

NEXT TIME YOU GO FOR A WALK,
WHY DON'T YOU KEEP YOUR EYES
AND EARS OPEN?

AND YOU MIGHT HAVE AN ADVENTURE.
