An airplane flies past the smiling sun. An owl wears a red, yellow, and black scarf. Mandisa Watts, a dark-haired woman, waves as she stands under a tree in a park near a road. She wears a peach-coloured shirt under her blue denim overalls. A floral patterned scarf is tied around her head and pink earrings dandle to her shoulders.

A ladybug lands on a purple flower in front of Mandisa. A school bus travels down the road while a green dinosaur climbs on a bench and a penguin dances in a field.

A puppet fox and a cardboard robot jump into Mandisa’s hands while a giraffe leaps out from behind a bush.

The title reads, “Curious Crafting”.

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple crayons streak across the screen.

Mandisa holds a mirror in front of her as she sits at a round green table in a colourful craft room. Behind her, a purple wall features a pink flamingo with a very long neck. Crafts, markers, and crafting tools are displayed on shelves on the other walls.

To Mandisa’s left, a boy with short dark hair looks at his reflection. He wears a grey and green shirt and black pants. On Mandisa’s right side, a girl with long dark hair tied in tails watches her closely. She wears a blue denim shirt and a pink dress.

Mandisa looks at her reflection.

She says,
I SEE EYES, A NOSE...

The boy with short dark hair adds,
HAIR, MOUTH.

The girl with long dark hair says,
AND TEETH.

She smiles.

Mandisa says,
AND TEETH AND A BEAUTIFUL SMILE.
IT'S FUN TO LOOK AT YOURSELF.
I MADE THIS PICTURE OF MYSELF
USING SUPPLIES THAT I FOUND
AROUND MY HOUSE.
YOU GUYS WANT TO MAKE A PICTURE
OF YOURSELF?

Mandisa holds up a paper plate face decorated with black yarn hair, a red and white straw nose, and a red button mouth.

The boy with short dark hair replies,
YEAH.

Mandisa says,
LET'S GET OUR SUPPLIES.

The kids pick up craft supplies as they run around the room. They rush back to the table.

Mandisa says,
YOU'RE GOING TO NEED
PAINT STICKS.
POM POMS.
PAPER PLATE.
YARN.
PAINTBRUSHES, BUTTONS.
STICKERS.
AND DON'T FORGET SKIN TONE
PAINT.

Mandisa sits with the kids at the table.

She says,
DO YOU SEE MY PAPER PLATE?
I PAINTED IT A COLOUR THAT LOOKS
JUST LIKE ME.
DO YOU GUYS WANT TO CHOOSE
A COLOUR FOR YOUR PAINT?

The girl with long dark hair replies,
MINE IS YELLOW.

Mandisa turns to the boy with short dark hair.

She asks,
AND WHAT COLOUR DO YOU THINK
LOOKS LIKE YOUR SKIN COLOUR?

The boy with short dark hair answers,
BROWN.

Mandisa replies,
BROWN, OK?

The girl with long dark hair says,
IT'S NOT THE SAME AS ME.

Mandisa replies,
YEAH, BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE
DIFFERENT SKIN COLOURS.

The boy with short dark hair squeezes paint onto his paper plate.

Mandisa says,
FIRST, WE'RE GOING TO PAINT OUR
PAPER PLATES.
I'M GOING TO HAND YOU A LITTLE
SPONGE BRUSH.
AND CAN YOU SPREAD THAT PAINT
ALL AROUND
SO YOUR PLATE GETS NICE, GOOD,
NICE COLOUR ON IT.

The girl with long dark hair paints over her paper plate.

She says, I NEED MORE.

Mandisa replies,
YOU NEED SOME MORE?
I THINK THAT'S ENOUGH PAINT.
WOW.

Googly eyes look at the boy with short dark hair and the girl with long dark hair’s paper pates.

Mandisa says,
SPREAD IT ALL AROUND.
NICE.

The girl with long dark hair covers her plate with paint.

She says,
I HAVE A LOT.

Mandisa replies,
YOU DO.
DO YOU WANT TO GRAB SOME
PIECES OF PAPER
TO MAKE YOUR EYES?

The girl with long dark hair picks white paper out of a pink plastic bowl.

Mandisa says,
WE CAN USE A MARKER TO COLOUR
OUR EYES.

The boy with short dark hair picks up a bright green marker.

He says, I WANT GREEN.

Mandisa replies,
YOU WANT GREEN, OK, AWESOME.
LOVELY.
YOU'RE GONNA DO PINK BUTTONS FOR
YOUR EYES?
ABBEY, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO USE
TO MAKE YOUR NOSE?

Abbey, the girl with long dark hair, looks at the craft supplies on the table.

She answers, PINK BUTTON.

Mandisa replies,
A PINK BUTTON, OK.

A green crayon makes a check mark.

Abbey twirls a small piece of paper straw in her fingers.

Mandisa says,
OH, A STRAW, THAT'S OK.
HEY, NEXT, WE HAVE TO DO OUR
MOUTH.
DO YOU WANT TO MAKE YOURSELF
SMILING?
YEAH?

The boy with short dark hair smiles as he nods.

Abbey says,
I WANT YOU TO USE THE
BUTTON FOR MY SMILE.
SO MANY BUTTONS HERE, SO MANY
DIFFERENT COLOURS.
WHAT COLOUR ARE YOU GOING TO
CHOOSE?

Abbey picks colourful buttons out of an orange bowl. She places pink, blue, and white buttons on her paper plate face.

Abbey says,
I GOT MY TEETH HERE.

Mandisa says,
WE HAVE OUR EYES AND OUR NOSE
AND OUR SMILE.
WHAT ELSE DO WE NEED?

The boy with short dark hair shouts,
EARS!

Mandisa says, OUR EARS.

The green crayon makes another check mark.

Mandisa says,
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO USE FOR
YOUR EARS?

The boy with short dark hair picks a red fluffy pompom out of a purple bowl.

He says, THESE!

Mandisa replies, SOME POM POMS.

Abbey reaches across the table.

She says,
I WANT THE BLACK POM POM.

Mandisa asks,
DO YOU WANT POM POMS TOO?
WHAT'S THE LAST THING WE NEED
FOR OUR FACE?

The boy with short dark hair replies,
HAIR!

Mandisa says,
HAIR.
ALL RIGHT.

The boy with short dark hair wraps black yarn across the top of his paper plate face. Abbey picks up a handful of black yarn.

She says,
I NEED A LOT OF HAIR.

Mandisa says,
IT LOOKS VERY HANDSOME,

Abbey adds,
I LOVE IT.
MINES REALLY BIG.

Mandisa says,
OK.
LET'S HOLD UP OUR CRAFTS
AND TAKE A LOOK.

The kids hold up their paper plate faces and smile. Mandisa holds her’s over her face.

Abbey says, I HAVE TO GO.

Mandisa replies, YOU HAVE TO GO.

Abbey answers, YEAH.

Mandisa says, NO, DON'T GO YET.

The dinosaur, the penguin, the robot, the fox, the giraffe, and the owl smile in the park. The school bus travels down the road.
