An airplane flies past the smiling sun. An owl wears a red, yellow, and black sweater. Mandisa Watts, a dark-haired woman, waves as she stands under a tree in a park. She wears a peach-coloured shirt under her blue denim overalls. A floral patterned scarf is tied around her head and pink earrings dandle to her shoulders.

A ladybug lands on a purple flower in front of Mandisa. A school bus travels down a road while a green dinosaur climbs on a bench and a penguin dances in a field.

A puppet fox and a cardboard robot jump into Mandisa’s hands while a giraffe leaps out from behind a bush.

The title reads, “Curious Crafting”.

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple crayons streak across the screen.

Mandisa uses spoons to drum on a round green table in a colourful craft room. Behind her, a purple wall features a pink flamingo with a very long neck. Crafts, markers, and crafting tools are displayed on shelves on the other walls.

A boy with short dark hair drums with Mandisa. He wears a faded purple sweater and black pants. On Mandisa’s right side, a girl with long dark hair tied in buns drums as well. The girl wears a pink sweater and blue jeans.

Mandisa says,
THAT WAS REALLY
GREAT, YOU GUYS.
IT'S FUN TO USE THINGS FROM
AROUND THE HOUSE
TO MAKE MUSIC AND CRAFTS...
LIKE THESE ONES.
THESE ARE MY WOODEN SPOON
PEOPLE.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE SOME
FRIENDS FOR THEM?

The dark-haired boy replies,
LET'S GO.

Mandisa and the two kids get up. They run around the room picking up supplies. They rush back to the table.

Mandisa says,
WE'RE GOING TO NEED SKIN
TONE PAINT,
MARKERS, YARN,
GOOGLY EYES.
SCRAPS OF FABRIC.
WOODEN SPOONS.
BUTTONS AND A BOTTLE OF BLUE.

Pink scissors cut through green paper.

Mandisa sits with the kids. Crafting supplies cover the table.

Mandisa says,
SO THE FIRST THING WE ARE GOING
TO DO IS
WE'RE GOING TO PAINT OUR SPOONS.
ALL RIGHT, AND THEN WE'RE GOING
TO TURN IT OVER
AND YOU CAN PAINT ON THE
OTHER SIDE.

The kids paint their spoons on top of a white piece of paper.

(Paintbrush slide)

Mandisa says,
NOW THAT OUR SPOONS ARE DRY,
IT'S TIME TO MAKE THEM INTO
WOODEN SPOON PEOPLE.
FIRST, WE ARE GOING TO GIVE THEM
SOME CLOTHES.
I HAVE A BOWL OF FABRIC HERE.
SO CAN YOU CHOOSE SOMETHING
FOR YOUR PUPPET TO WEAR?

The boy with short dark hair pulls flannel material out of a bowl.

He asks,
BUT HOW DO WE PUT THEM ON?

The girl with dark hair picks the same material. She covers her spoon with glue and attaches it to the material.

Mandisa says,
WE'RE GOING TO USE SOME GLUE TO
STICK THEM
ONTO OUR WOODEN SPOON PEOPLE.
WRAP IT AROUND YOUR SPOON.
STICK IT THERE AND THEN
WRAP IT AROUND.

Googly eyes appear and look at the kid’s spoon people.

Mandisa asks,
WHAT SHOULD WE ADD NEXT?

The girl with long dark hair shouts, HAIR!

Mandisa replies,
I HAVE SOME COLOURFUL YARN HERE
FOR HAIR.

The kids pull black, yellow, and red yarn out of an orange bowl.

Mandisa says,
LET'S PUT SOME GLUE RIGHT ON TOP
RIGHT THERE.

The kids glue the yarn to their spoons.

Mandisa says,
GOOD JOB, YOU GUYS.

The boy with short dark hair asks,
OK.
NOW WHAT DO WE DO?

Mandisa replies,
WHAT DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD
ADD NEXT?

The boy with short dark hair shouts, EYES!

Mandisa asks,
DO YOU WANT TO CHOOSE SOME
GOOGLY EYES?
I HAVE SOME LITTLE GOOGLY EYES
FOR OUR PUPPETS.
WE'LL ADD SOME EYES RIGHT THERE.

The boy with short dark hair pours glue onto his spoon and sticks googly eyes to it.

Mandisa says,
THAT'S IT.

The boy with short dark hair says,
LOOK, I GOT THIS.
He holds yellow yarn under his nose and laughs.

Mandisa says,
YOU HAVE A MUSTACHE.
YEAH.

(Laughs)

Mandisa asks,
WHAT ELSE SHOULD WE ADD TO OUR
PUPPETS?

The kids shout, BUTTONS!

The boy with short dark hair asks,
ONE BUTTON.

Mandisa holds a purple bowl filled with colourful buttons.

Mandisa says,
YOU NEED ONE BUTTON,
I HAVE SO MANY COLOURFUL
BUTTONS HERE.
YOU WANT TO CHOOSE A
COLOURFUL BUTTON?

The boy with short dark hair picks a black button out of the bowl.

He says,
I'LL TAKE A BIG ONE.

Mandisa replies,
A BIG ONE.
OK, HOW MANY BUTTONS,
YOU CAN CHOOSE ONE BUTTON AND
GLUE THAT DOWN.
GOOD JOB.

The girl with long dark hair glues a button to her spoon.

Mandisa asks,
HOW CAN WE GIVE OUR PUPPETS A
HAPPY FACE?

The boy with short dark hair says,
DRAW IT!

Mandisa replies,
WE CAN DRAW IT WITH SOME
MARKERS.
The boy with short dark hair takes a black marker from Mandisa while the girl with long dark hair takes a pink marker.

The boy with short dark hair shouts,
I'LL TAKE BLACK.

Mandisa says,
OK.
YOU CAN DRAW A NOSE.

The boy with short dark hair smiles as he covers his face. He removes his hands.

The boy with short dark hair says,
PEEK-A-BOO!

Mandisa replies,
PEEK-A-BOO.
SHOULD WE TAKE OUR WOODEN
SPOON PEOPLE
FOR A WALK?

The boy with short dark hair nods.

Mandisa says,
OKAY, LET'S GO.
LA DI DA, HI.

Mandisa and the kids walk their spoon people across the craft table.

The dinosaur, the penguin, the robot, the fox, the giraffe, and the owl smile in the park. The school bus travels down the road.
