Little Malabar is a boy with blond hair who travels in space jumping on planets. He wears a white t-shirt and blue shorts.

Little Malabar sings, TO THE MOON AND BACK.

Little Malabar giggles.

He says, HA-HA!

Little Malabar jumps from a planet to an asteroid.

He sings, I JUMP ON EVERY PLANET
AND EVERY STAR
C'MON, LET'S GO FAR.
EXPLORE THE WHOLE UNIVERSE,
LITTLE MALABAR.

A narrator says, THE SOUP OF LIGHT.

Malabar looks up at the night sky as clouds begin to cover the stars.

Little Malabar says, WHOA, TONIGHT THE CLOUDS
ARE CONCEALING THE STARS!

Little Malabar sits down but gasps and stands. Little Malabar’s seat uncurls into an armadillo.

The animal squeaks.

Little Malabar says, OH, ARMADILLO!

Little Malabar giggles and hugs Armadillo. The friends lie on the ground while looking up at the night sky.

Little Malabar says, OH LOOK, THE CLOUDS
ARE MOVING ASIDE.
WE CAN SEE A STAR!

The clouds clear and a ball of yellow giggling balls comes through. A beam of light is pointed at Armadillo. Armadillo curls up into a ball.

Little Malabar says, HEY, WAIT!
WHO ARE YOU?

The yellow balls say, WE ARE PHOTONS!
WE ARE LITTLE SEEDS OF LIGHT!

Armadillo rolls away from the beam made up of the photons.

Little Malabar asks, WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?

A photon says, WE WERE BORN IN A STAR!

Another says, AND THEN WE UP AND LEFT!

A third says, BECAUSE WE LOVE
TRAVELLING IN SPACE!

Little Malabar says, OH, THE CLOUD'S COVERING
THE STAR AGAIN!

The photon beam is blocked by clouds.

Little Malabar says, THERE ARE NO MORE PHOTONS,
ARMADILLO!

A photon appears and chuckles. It flies around Little Malabar.

Little Malabar says, HUH? WHAT WAS THAT?
I THOUGHT I SAW ANOTHER PHOTON!

The photon chuckles. It faces Armadillo, making Armadillo shriek and curl up into a ball. The photon peaks into Armadillo’s shell.

The photon says, BOO!

The photon chuckles and flies away. Armadillo uncurls.

Little Malabar says, WOW!
THERE ARE PHOTONS FLYING
AROUND EVERYWHERE!
BUT WHAT STAR DO YOU COME FROM?

A photon stops beside Little Malabar.

The photon says, WELL, WE DON'T COME
FROM STARS!

Another photon says, WE COME FROM EVERYWHERE!
WE'VE BEEN TRAVELLING
THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE
FOR A REALLY, REALLY LONG TIME!

Little Malabar says, IT'S TRUE THAT YOU
SEEM RATHER OLD!

The photon leaves. Another appears.

The photon says, OH, WELL WE ARE!
WE ARE MUCH OLDER THAN ALL OF
THOSE YOUNG PHOTONS THAT'RE BORN
IN AND COME FROM THE STARS!

Armadillo smalls the photon.

The photon says, OH! WE'RE EVEN OLDER
THAN YOUR DINOSAUR!

Little Malabar giggles.

Ge says, BUT,
MY FRIEND'S NOT A DINOSAUR!
HE'S AN ARMADILLO!

The photon turns to face Armadillo and Armadillo squeals.

The photon says, OH, OH!

The photon flies away. Little Malabar giggles. Another photon appears.

The photon says, WE'RE ALMOST 14
BILLION YEARS OLD!

Little Malabar says, OH!

Another photon says, WE ARE AS OLD
AS THE UNIVERSE!

Another says, WE WERE BORN WAY
BEFORE THE STARS!

Little Malabar says, WELL THEN, WHERE DO
YOU COME FROM?

A photon says, OH, WE COME FROM
THE SOUP OF PARTICLES!

Little Malabar giggles.

He says, THE SOUP OF WHAT?

The photon says, IMAGINE THAT YOU WERE
A TEENY TINY GRAIN OF MATTER
A VERY, VERY LONG TIME AGO,
WHEN THE UNIVERSE WAS FORMED,
AND BIG BANG!
THAT'S WHEN THE SOUP APPEARED!

Little Malabar groans. He’s surrounded by small grains of matter.

Little Malabar says, HEY,
IT'S REALLY CROWDED IN HERE!

He groans as he tries to move.

He says, WE CAN'T EVEN MOVE!

A black grain of matter says, WELCOME TO THE SOUP
OF SMALL GRAINS OF MATTER!

Little Malabar says, HELLO, MY NAME'S
LITTLE MALABAR!

The grain of matter says, I'M CALLED A PROTON.

A grey grain of matter says, AND I'M A LITTLE ELECTRON.

A yellow grain of matter says, AND I'M JUST A YOUNG
SEED OF LIGHT!

Little Malabar says, OH PHOTON,
YOU'RE SUPER YOUNG!
SO THIS IS THE SOUP
IN WHICH YOU WERE BORN?

The seed of light, photon, says, THAT'S RIGHT!
IN THE BEGINNING,
THE UNIVERSE WAS A BOILING SOUP
OF PARTICLES ALL PRESSED UP
AGAINST EACH OTHER!

Little Malabar says, IT'S HORRIBLY HOT
HERE IN THIS SOUP!

Photon says, PATIENCE !
THE SOUP WILL COOL DOWN
AND WE WILL SOON HAVE
A WHOLE LOT MORE ROOM!

Armadillo squeaks as the grains of matter begin to separate.

A proton says, AH, IT FEELS GOOD
TO HAVE MORE SPACE!

The proton stretches. An electron giggles.

Little Malabar says, PHEW, IT'S A BIT COOLER NOW.

A photon says, AND NOW WE'LL BE ABLE
TO MOVE! YIPPEE!

The photon giggles and bounces off other grains of matter.

Little Malabar asks, HAVING FUN BUMPING
INTO EVERYONE?

A photon says, WE LOVE MOVING ABOUT
AS SOON AS WE HAVE MORE ROOM
IN OUR SOUP!

Armadillo squeaks and curls up into a ball. A photon bounces off Armadillo’s shell.

Little Malabar says, ARMADILLO,
LET'S MOVE LIKE PHOTONS!

Little Malabar holds his knees against his chest and rolls like a ball giggling.

A photon says, HEY, THERE'S A WAY OUT
OVER HERE! WHA—

The photon bounces off other grains of matter.

The photon says, COME ON, ELECTRONS,
LET US GET THROUGH!

(Grunting)

The photons bounce around the tight space.

A photon says, WE CAN GET OUT THIS WAY!

Another says, OOH, OOH! LET US GET THROUGH!

(Giggling)

(Grunting)

Little Malabar pauses and looks above him where Armadillo bounces between protons.

Little Malabar says, says, ARMADILLO,
GRAB ONTO MY HANDS!

Little Malabar holds onto Armadillo. They swing in circles together amongst the grains of matter. Little Malabar giggles.

A proton says, THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN!
WHY DON'T WE GO ROUND
AND ROUND WITH THE ELECTRONS?

The proton grabs an electron and they swing in circles. The electron giggles.

The electron says, GOING ROUND AND
ROUND WITH PROTONS IS FUN!

The protons says, COME ON, EVERYONE GRAB
YOUR ELECTRON AND DON'T LET GO!

The other protons and electrons swing in circles in pairs.

A grain of matter says, HEY, THERE'S A WAY OUT
OVER HERE!

A photon says, HEY, LOOK! NO ONE'S GRABBING
ON TO US ANYMORE. YIPPEE!
WE'RE FREE AT LAST!

The photon flies by Little Malabar and Armadillo, separating them.

Little Malabar says, HEY, WAIT PHOTON!
WHERE YA GOING?

A proton says, IT WANTS TO VISIT OTHER
PLACES IN THE SOUP!
IT HAS BECOME SO MUCH MORE VAST!

An electron says, AND WE AREN'T HOLDING
THEM BACK ANYMORE!

The protons and electrons swing in circles with their partners.

They cheer, YIPPEE!

Photons blast through the space. One grabs hold of Little Malabar and Armadillo.

Little Malabar says, WHOA, WE'RE TRAVELLING FAST!

(Giggling)

A grain of matter says, WE TRAVELLED FOR A VERY
LONG TIME IN SPACE
THAT BECAME BIGGER AND BIGGER!
AND WE SAW THE BIRTH
OF ALL THE STARS
IN THE UNIVERSE!

Little Malabar and Armadillo speak with photons back on Earth.

The grain of matter, a photon, continues, AND WE'RE STILL GOING STRONG,
STILL IN MOTION!

The photons fly away. Little Malabar giggles and waves.

He says, GOOD JOB,
YOU OLD PHOTONS!
WE DESERVE TO HAVE
A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP.

Little Malabar lies down with Armadillo.

Little Malabar says, GOOD NIGHT, ARMADILLO!

A narrator says, IN SPACE, PHOTONS
ARE PRODUCED BY THE STARS.
BUT THERE ARE VERY OLD PHOTONS
THAT WERE HERE WELL BEFORE
THE FIRST STARS.
THEY WERE RELEASED AT
THE BIRTH OF THE UNIVERSE.

Little Malabar produced by Tchack.
