Little Malabar is a curious little boy who travels in space jumping on planets. He is blonde and wears a white T-shirt with the sun on the front and blue shorts.

Opening credits read, tchack and Pictanovo, with the support of Region Hauts de France and the participation of francetelevisions presents.

A song plays TO THE MOON AND BACK

Little Malabar says HA-HA!

The song continues I JUMP ON EVERY PLANET
AND EVERY STAR
C'MON, LET'S GO FAR
EXPLORE THE WHOLE UNIVERSE,
LITTLE MALABAR

The title reads, “Little Malabar Music by Fred Pallem.”

A narrator says, THE ZIRCON STORIES.

A green lizard peeks over a rock in the desert. Little Malabar crafts a crown together with green leaves and a rock. The lizard approaches him. He puts the hat on his head.

Little Malabar says, AND TADA!
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MY CROWN,
LIZARD?

(The lizard squeaks)

Little Malabar says, I HAVE ONE FOR YOU AS WELL.

Little Malabar puts a small crown of leaves on the lizard’s head. The lizard shakes it off.

Little Malabar says, AW, HA-HA, YOU'RE VERY
DEMANDING, PRINCE LIZARD.
WAIT A SEC, I'LL ADD A BEAUTIFUL
ROCK TO YOUR PRINCELY CROWN.

The lizard follows Little Malabar as he hops over large rocks. The lizard flicks a small rock with its tail.

Little Malabar says, GOOD JOB, LIZARD.
THAT'S A NICE ONE.
DO YOU LIKE IT?

The lizard runs to a small cave with a small light twinkling inside.

Little Malabar says, DID YOU FIND SOMETHING, LIZARD?
WOW!
WHAT'S SHINING LIKE THAT?

Little Malabar peeks inside the caves. Three blue crystals have smiling faces.

A crystal says, WE ARE!

The second crystal says, WE'RE VERY SMALL.

The third crystal says, WE ARE ZIRCONS.

Little Malabar says, YOU ZIRCONS ARE BEAUTIFUL.

The third zircon says, YES INDEED WE ARE.
BUT WE'RE ALSO VERY OLD.

The first zircon says, WE ARE ACTUALLY OLDER THAN
ALL THE OTHER ROCKS AROUND HERE.

The second zircon says, OLDER THAN THE
MOUNTAINS AND ALMOST AS OLD AS
THE EARTH ITSELF.

A drawing of the earth with a smiling face is over a white background.

The Earth says, THAT'S RIGHT.
THE ZIRCONS KNEW ME WHEN I WAS
QUITE YOUNG.

The first zircon says, I CAN STILL REMEMBER WHEN WE
WERE BORN HERE ON EARTH.

The second zircon says, ME TOO!
IT'S A STORY ABOUT ROCKS THAT
GREW UNDER VOLCANOS.
DO YOU WANT TO HEAR IT?

Little Malabar says, YES, PLEASE!

The second zircon says, IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO.
THE EARTH WAS VERY, VERY HOT
AND VOLCANOES POPPED UP
EVERYWHERE.

The earth is red and covered with volcanos. A burst of rocks and lava pops out of a volcano.

(The volcano grunts)

Little Malabar walks amidst volcanos with the lizard on his head.

Little Malabar says, HEY THERE, ZIRCONS!
WHERE ARE YOU?

(A volcano grunts)

The volcano erupts and spews lava. Little Malabar and the lizard hop onto a rock. Lava flows beneath them.

Little Malabar says, WHOA!

(Little Malabar laughs)

The lizard rests on the rock.

Little Malabar says, LIZARD, THIS IS NO TIME TO
LOUNGE AROUND AND WARM UP YOUR
FEET.

(The volcano grunts)

Layers of the volcano flake away and a boulder with a smiling face emerges from inside.

The boulder says, AHH, SOME FRESH AIR AT LAST.

Little Malabar says, HELLO, BOULDER.
SAY, WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?

The boulder says, I WAS BORN IN THE MAGMA UNDER
THIS VOLCANO.
OOPS!

The boulder cracks and explodes. The three zircons are in a piece of the boulder.

(Little Malabar laughs)

Little Malabar says, YOU ZIRCONS ARE HERE AS WELL.

The second zircon says, YES!
WE ALSO COME FROM DEEP WITHIN
THE EARTH.
WE ARE REALLY, REALLY STRONG.
WE ARE...

The three zircons say together, UNBREAKABLE!

The second zircon says, AND THAT'S IT.
ALL THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN
4 BILLION YEARS AGO.

Little Malabar says, WOW!

The third zircon says, SINCE THEN, WE'VE SEEN SO
MANY THINGS HAPPEN ON PLANET
EARTH.

The first zircon says, I CAN REMEMBER THE TIME WHEN
THE FIRST OCEANS WERE FORMED
AND THE AIR WAS UNBREATHABLE.

Oceans form on the earth as the volcanos recede. The zircons are in a boulder popping out of an ocean.
Little Malabar and the lizard approach the zircons. Smoke wafts around them.

Little Malabar says, WHOA!
WE CAN'T SEE ANYTHING WITH ALL
THIS SMOKE.

Green bacteria sit on a rock.

The bacteria says, YUM, YUM, YUM, YUM!

The third zircon says, WELL, THIS SMOKE WAS GREATLY
ENJOYED BY THE SMALL BACTERIA
THAT LIVED NEARBY THE SEA.

The bacteria says, YUM, YUM, YUM, YUM!

Little Malabar says, I SEE THEM!
THEY ARE SUPER SMALL.

The third zircon says, BUT SO GLUTINOUS THAT THEY
SWALLOWED UP THE VOLCANOS'
CLOUDS OF SMOKE.

Smoke surrounds the earth.

The second zircon says, AND THE BACTERIA RENDERED THE
EARTH'S AIR BREATHABLE.

The first zircon says, SPEAKING OF AIR, THAT REMINDS
ME OF THE STORY OF THE
FOUR-LEGGED FISH.
YOU GUYS REMEMBER IT?

The second and third zircons say, DO TELL!

The first zircon says, ONE DAY WHAT PUT ITS HEAD
ABOVE WATER?
A FISH!
AND THEN ANOTHER.
THEN ANOTHER.
AND A VERY LONG TIME AFTER THAT
ANOTHER FISH THAT ACTUALLY
WALKED ON LAND.

A large lizard climbs out of water and approaches Little Malabar on a small island.

Little Malabar says, AW, WELL DONE, BIG FISH.
YOU CAN BREATHE IN THE OPEN AIR.

The earth spins quickly. The smoke disappears.

The first zircon says, THEN GENERATION AFTER
GENERATION, OTHER PLANTS AND
OTHER ANIMALS OF ALL SHAPES
AND SIZES APPEAR.

(Upbeat pan flute music)

Little Malabar and the lizard stand in a jungle. Insects crawl and fly around him. A green triceratops emerges from a large green bush.

(Little Malabar laughs)

Little Malabar says, LIZARD, DO YOU THINK THIS IS
ONE OF YOUR ANCESTORS?

(The lizard squeaks)

The first Zircon says, DO YOU WANT TO HEAR THE STORY
ABOUT THE ICE AGE NOW?

Little Malabar says, HEY, ZIRCONS, I HAVE A STORY
TO TELL.
IT'S ABOUT A LIZARD WHO WENT OFF
ON A JOURNEY IN SEARCH OF
PRECIOUS STONES AND WHEN HE
RETURNED FROM HIS ADVENTURE
HE WAS NAMED PRINCE OF ZIRCON!

The lizard wears a crown of leaves with the three zircons on it.

(Little Malabar laughs)

The lizard climbs onto Little Malabar’s head. An island with two mountains and a palm tree sits atop the earth.

The narrator says, AT THE EARTH'S
SURFACE, CERTAIN ROCKS CONTAIN
BEAUTIFUL CRYSTALS ALMOST AS
OLD AS THE PLANET ITSELF.
THEY'RE THE OLDEST WITNESSES TO
THE HISTORY OF PLANET EARTH.

(Soft electronic music)

End credits.
