Emma says, HALF A CUP OF FROZEN PEAS.
Serena says, AND ONE CUP OF SMALL PASTAS.
Emma says, WE ARE READY FOR
THE FIVE INGREDIENTS CHALLENGE!
Serena and Emma stand behind the kitchen island. Serena wears a pink shirt under a denim vest. She wears her long black hair in pigtails.
Emma says, FOR STARTERS,
WE POUR THE CHICKEN BROTH
IN A SAUCE PAN.
Emma pours a chicken broth into a measuring cup. Text reads, 8 cups (2 liters).
Emma says, WE NEED EIGHT CUPS.
She pours the measured chicken broth into a sauce pan on a cooktop.
Emma says, TWO CUPS, ANOTHER
TWO CUPS.

Serena says, FOR THIS RECIPE,

Serena sets the temperature of the cooktop.
She says, SO, BE VERY CAREFUL
BECAUSE IT'S HOT.
Emma says, WHILE WE'RE WAITING
FOR THE BUBBLES,
WE CUT THE CARROTS
INTO SMALL PIECES.
Serena says, MAKE SURE TO PEEL THE CARROTS
BEFORE CUTTING THEM,
OR ELSE IT'S GOING TO BE
A LITTLE HARD.
Serena and Emma peel carrots. Emma starts cutting her carrot.
She says, WATCH YOUR FINGERS!
Serena cuts her carrot into cubes.
She says, THE PEELS ARE FOR
THE COMPOST.
Serena drops the carrot peels into a compost bin. Emma scrapes her cubed carrot off her cutting board and onto a plate of cubed carrot. Serena grabs a cooked chicken breast.
She says, WE CUBE THE CHICKEN LIKE THIS.
Serena slices the chicken. She cuts the slices into large cubes. Emma guides the diced carrots off the plate and into the sauce pan.
Emma says, ONCE THE BUBBLES APPEAR,
WE ADD THE CARROTS.
Serena says, AND NOW, THE CHICKEN.
Serena fills a measuring cup with the cubed chicken.
She says, WE NEED TWO CUPS.
Text reads, 2 cups (500 milliliters). Serena adds the cup of chicken to the sauce pan. She adds a second cup to the pan. Serena removes a lid from a container of peas.
She says, THE FROZEN PEAS.
WE NEED HALF A CUP.
Text reads, ½ cup (125 milliliters). Serena adds a half cup of the frozen peas to the sauce pan.
Emma says, WE LET IT ALL SIMMER
FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES.
Serena sets a timer for 15 minutes. She and Emma clean up their workstations. The ingredients in the sauce pan simmer. Serena stirs them together. The timer beeps. Serena pours in a cup of noodles into the sauce pan.
She says, NEXT, WE ADD
THE SMALL NOODLES TO THE BROTH
AND LET IT SIMMER
FOR FIVE MINUTES.
Text reads, 1 cup (250 milliliters).
Emma says, WE ARE USING
ALPHABET NOODLES.
BUT YOU CAN USE
WHATEVER KIND OF PASTA
OR NOODLES YOU WANT.
Serena stirs the ingredients together.
Emma says, JUST MAKE SURE YOU GIVE THEM
ENOUGH TIME TO COOK PROPERLY.
Serena says, I ADD A LITTLE PEPPER.
BUT NOT TOO MUCH.
Serena stirs the pepper in with the other soup ingredients.
She says, NOW, MIX, MIX, MIX!
Serena prepares two bowls. She scoops the soup into a bowl with a ladle. Serena and Emma taste their soup. They look at each other and nod.
Serena says, HM!
DELICIOUS!
Together, Serena and Emma say, WHAT A CHALLENGE!
Serena holds up her bowl of chicken soup. Emma holds up a camera and the pair take a selfie.
