Serena and Emma stand behind the kitchen island. Emma wears a red long sleeved shirt. She wears her long brown hair in a high pony tail.
Serena says, TO BEGIN WITH,
WE NEED A FOOD PROCESSOR.
Emma says, IN THE FOOD PROCESSOR,
WE WILL MIX THE FLOUR…
Emma adds flour to the food processor. Text reads, 2 cups (500 milliliters).
Emma adds, THE SUGAR…
Emma adds sugar. Text reads, ½ cups (125 milliliters).
Emma adds, …AND THE SALT.
Emma adds salt. Text reads, 1 pinch.
Emma says, WE PUT THE LID ON.
She puts the food processor lid on.
Emma says, THERE WE GO.
Serena says, WE DO THIS IN QUICK BURSTS.
IT'S CALLED PULSING.
Emma presses and releases a button on the food processor. The processor whirrs loudly and Serena plugs her ears.
Emma says, NOW WE ADD THE BUTTER
AND WE MIX.
Serena drops cubes of butter into the food processor. Text reads, 1 cup (250 milliliters). Serena mixes the butter with the other ingredients in the food processor with quick bursts. She adds more butter before mixing again.
Serena says, YOU WANT IT
TO HAVE A SAND-LIKE TEXTURE.
LIKE THIS.
Serena points to the mixture in the food processor.
Emma says, ONCE IT'S READY, WE MAKE SURE
WE UNPLUG THE FOOD PROCESSOR
BEFORE OPENING IT.
Emma places the food processors cable on the island.
Serena says, THEN WE REMOVE THE LID
AND TAKE OUT THE BLADE.
Serena taps the sand-like mixture off the food processor’s blade before removing it. She takes the food processor off the island. Emma holds the processors container.
She says, NOW IT'S TIME TO PUT
OUR DOUGH IN OUR BOWL.
Emma guides the dough mixture out of the food processor and into a glass bowl.
She says, WE ADD THE BITS AND PIECES
OF CHOCOLATE
IN OUR DOUGH AND WE MIX IT.
Text reads, 3 oz. Emma dumps chunks of chocolate into the bowl. She mixes the chocolate into the dough.
Serena says, MIX, MIX, MIX, MIX, MIX.
AND THEN WE SEPARATE
THE DOUGH INTO TWO,
ROLL IT INTO
THE PARCHMENT PAPER TO TURN IT
INTO A CYLINDER.
Serena rolls a line of the dough on parchment paper into a log shape.
Emma says, PARCHMENT PAPER
IS SUPER HELPFUL.
IT STOPS WHAT YOU COOK
FROM STICKING.
Serena says, IT KIND OF LOOKS LIKE A WORM.
Emma says, A COOKIE WORM.
Serena laughs. She and Emma press their dough rolls into their parchment paper.
Serena says, AND NOW WE PUT IT
IN THE FRIDGE FOR AN HOUR.
Emma places the dough into a fridge.
Emma says, AND WE WAIT.

Together, Serena and Emma say, TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK.
Emma says, IT'S TIME TO PREHEAT THE OVEN
TO 325 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT
OR 163 DEGREES CELSIUS.
Emma sets the temperature on an oven.
Together, Serena and Emma say, TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK.
They tilt their heads back and forth as they speak. A timer dings.
Serena says, OH, IT'S READY!
She places the rolls of dough on the island.
Serena says, NOW IT'S TIME
TO REMOVE THE PARCHMENT PAPER
FROM THE CYLINDERS
AND CUT THEM LIKE THIS.
Serena slices a roll of dough into discs.
She says, WE HAVE
ALL OUR COOKIES ON THE TRAY.
Emma says, OVEN MITTS!
Emma and Serena snap their fingers and oven mitts appear on Emma’s hands.
Emma says, NOW WE'RE GONNA PUT IT
IN THE OVEN
FOR 12 TO 15 MINUTES.
Emma places the tray of cookies in the oven. Serena sets a timer. The timer dings.
Serena says, IT'S READY!
Emma says, TIME FOR THE COOKIES!
Emma pulls on the oven mitts and takes the tray of cookies out of the oven.
Serena says, AND TADA!
She gestures to the tray of cookies on the island.
Serena says, HERE ARE OUR CHOCOLATE COOKIES.
Emma says, WE DID IT!
Serena says, WHAT A CHALLENGE.
She holds a cookie up to her mouth. Emma holds up a camera. The pair take a selfie.
(Doorbell)
Emma says, OH, OUR FRIENDS ARE HERE.
