Serena says, A QUARTER CUP OF MAPLE SYRUP.
Emma says, AND THREE TABLESPOONS
OF CANOLA OIL.
Serena says, AND WE ARE READY FOR THE
5 INGREDIENTS CHALLENGE!
Serena and Emma stand behind the kitchen island. Emma wears a long sleeved blue graphic shirt.
Emma says, THE FIRST STEP OF OUR CHALLENGE
IS TO PREHEAT THE OVEN
TO 375 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.
OR A 191 DEGREES CELSIUS.
Serena sets the temperature on an oven.
Emma says, IN A BOWL, WE HAVE TO MIX
ALL THE INGREDIENTS.
Emma collets one cup of oats.
She says, THE OATS.
Text reads, 2 ½ cups (625 milliliters). Emma pours the cup of oats into a glass bowl.
She says, THIS IS ONE CUP.
TWO CUPS.
AND A HALF OF CUP.
Serena pours a cup of cranberries into the bowl of oats.
She says, THE CRANBERRIES.
Text reads, 1 cup (250 milliliters).
Emma says, THE PUMPKIN SEEDS.
Emma pours pumpkin seeds into the bowl. Text reads, ½ cup (125 milliliters).
Serena says, THE MAPLE SYRUP.
Serena pours maple syrup into a measuring cup.
She says, IT'S A QUARTER CUP.
Text reads, ¼ cup (60 milliliters). Serena pours the measuring cup of maple syrup into the bowl.
Emma says, AND...
THE CANOLA OIL.
Serena measures a tablespoon of oil. Text reads, 3 tablespoons (45 milliliters). Serena counts out her measurements as she adds them to the bowl.
Serena says, ONE. TWO.
AND OUR LAST ONE.
NUMBER THREE.
She starts to mix the ingredients together with a large spoon.
Serena says, AND NOW, MIX IT.
Emma says, THIS ALREADY LOOKS SO GOOD.
Serena says, I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT.
Emma says, NOW, WE SPREAD THE MIXTURE
ON THE PARCHMENT PAPER
COVERED OVEN PAN.
Emma places parchment paper over a baking tray.
Emma says, TIME TO PUT THE GRANOLA
ON THE PARCHMENT PAPER.
She guides the granola mixture out of the glass bowl and onto the parchment paper lined baking tray.
She says, WE PUT IT IN THE OVEN
FOR 20 MINUTES.
Serena snaps her fingers and oven mitts appear on her hands. Serena slides the baking tray into the oven.
Emma says, WE STIR AFTER
10 MINUTES, AND THEN, WE WAIT.
Serena says, OH!
TIME TO STIR!
IT SMELLS VERY GOOD.
Serena pulls the tray out of the oven.
Emma says, MMH MMH!
Serena mixes the granola mixture with a spatula. At the island, she removes the oven mitts.
Emma says, WE HAVE TO WAIT AN OTHER
10 MINUTES.
Serena says, IN THE MEANTIME,
LET'S PLAY CARDS!
Serena to shuffle a deck of cards but drops the cards.
She says, I'LL DO IT THE OTHER WAY.
Serena mixes the cards together on the island. Serena and Emma each hold a card.
Together, they count, 3, 2, 1.
Serena says, FLIP!
Serena and Emma each flip over their card. Serena groans. Emma takes Serena’s card. Another pair of cards is flipped.
Serena says, AH! YES!
She takes the cards.
Emma says, GOOD JOB!
Another pair is flipped.
Together, Serena and Emma say, WAR!
The oven beeps.
Serena says, OH!
IT'S READY!
Serena grabs the oven mitts. Emma grabs a cooling rack. Serena takes the granola out of the oven with the oven mitts.
Emma says, YOU CAN PUT THAT ON, HERE.
She places the cooling rack closer to Serena.
Serena says, THANK YOU.
(Celebratory horn)
Emma says, INTRODUCING THE BEST GRANOLA
IN THE WHOLE WORLD!
Serena says, THAT YOU CAN ADD
TO YOUR YOGURT
OR ICE CREAM.
Serena scoops a spoonful of the granola into a small bowl.
She says, WE DID IT!
Together, Serena and Emma say, WHAT A CHALLENGE!
Serena holds up her bowl of granola. Emma holds up a camera and takes a selfie with Serena.
