Elinor, a white rabbit with long straight dark brown hair, wears a red and purple dress. She runs on a dirt path and stops to look at a monarch butterfly perched on a grey rock.

[Happy music plays]

Elinor sings, WHEREVER I GO
I SEE THINGS THAT I WANT
TO KNOW,

WHEREVER I AM I FIND THINGS
I WANT TO UNDERSTAND.

GO AND EXPLORE, LISTEN AND SEE
JUST FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

Elinor smiles as she sings on a swing on a swing set. Olive Elephant swings on a swing beside her. Olive wears a blue bow on her head, with a blue shirt, skirts and leggings. Ari Bat hands upside down from the bar on the top of the swing set.

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, WHY DO BIRDS SING?
AND HOW DO THEY FLY?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor watches ants through a magnifying glass.

Elinor sings WHY DO ANTS MARCH?
AND WHERE DO THEY HIDE?

THERE'S SO MUCH TO LEARN
WHEREVER YOU TURN
JUST LISTEN AND SEE
AND FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

[Chiming]

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, ASK A QUESTION
WHAT WILL YOU FIND?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, JUST LISTEN AND SEE
COME AND WONDER WITH ME.

Text above Elinor reads, “Elinor Wonders Why.” A magnifying glass with pink bunny ears replaces the letter ‘O’ in Elinor’s name.

[Bird sings]

Text reads, “Speed Racer.”

Elinor says, SPEED RACER.

[Bird sings, banging, upbeat music plays]

Mr. Rabbit, Elinor’s father, leans over a workbench as he hammers on a piece of wood. Elinor pulls a red wagon with wooden slats on the side as Ari and Olive push the wagon from behind.

Mr. Rabbit says, HI, ELINOR.

[Squeaking wheels]

Elinor says, MORNING, DAD.

[Birds chirp, banging, tearing]

Elinor tears a piece of tape off a dispenser and tapes the corner of a box.

Elinor says, GOOD MORNING,
LITTLE BIRD.

Olive holds a crayon in her trunk as she draws flowers on the box.

[Humming]

Elinor sings, WE'RE BUILDING A CAR,
WE'RE BUILDING A CAR

[Tape tears]

Olive sings, YES, WE ARE!
YES, WE ARE!

Ari sings, WE'RE GONNA
GO FAR! IN OUR CAR!

[Laughter]

Ari says, AH! WOW!
OUR CAR LOOKS AMAZING!

Elinor says, IT SURE DOES, ARI!

Ari says, AND THOSE ARE SOME
COOL DECORATIONS, OLIVE.

Olive says, THANKS!

Mr. Rabbit says, OOH!
THAT LOOKS GREAT, KIDS!

Mr. Rabbit walks to wagon with a box taped on the top.

[Rustling]

He asks, WHAT ARE YOU GOING
TO CALL YOUR NEW CAR?

[Birds chirp]

Elinor says, UMM...

Mr. Rabbit suggests, THE RABBIT
RACER? THE BATMOBILE?

[He chuckles]

Mr. Rabbit says, THE ELEPHANT
IN THE VROOM-VROOM!

[Giggling, rustling]

Elinor says, MY DAD LIKES
SILLY JOKES.

Ari says, YEAH, MY DAD DOES
THAT, TOO. THEY'RE CALLED
DAD JOKES.

[Ding]

Olive asks, DO YOU THINK IT'LL
GO FAST, MR. RABBIT?

[Birds chirp, playful music plays]

Elinor says, YEAH, I WANT IT
TO GO SUPER FAST!

I WANT TO FEEL THE WIND
IN MY EARS! SHOOM!

Mr. Rabbit says, WELL,
THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO
FIND OUT.

ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE IT
FOR A RIDE?

Ari replies, YUP! WE'RE GOING
TO RIDE IT DOWN THE LITTLE
HILL NEAR HERE.

[Rustling]

Mr. Rabbit says, OKAY!
HAVE FUN, KIDS!

[Birds chirp]

Olive says, DON'T WORRY, MR. RABBIT.
WE'LL BE EXTRA CAREFUL! DADS
ALSO LIKE BEING EXTRA CAREFUL.

Ari, Elinor, and Olive push the car.

[Rustling, squeaking, happy music plays]

Elinor, Ari, and Olive push the car up a small hill.

Elinor says, C'MON, ARI, JUST
A LITTLE MORE. OH, THIS IS
A BIG HILL.

[Grunting]

Ari says, ALMOST THERE, THINK
HAPPY THOUGHTS.

[Straining, grunting, sighing]

Ari says, THAT WAS HARD WORK.

[Wind blows]

Elinor says, OKAY, WE'RE READY
FOR OUR FIRST TEST.

Elinor climbs into the wagon car.

[Rustling]

Olive says, DON'T FORGET TO
BUCKLE YOUR HELMET!

[Snap]

Ari asks, READY?

Elinor says, READY!

Olive asks, SET?

Elinor syas, SET!

Olive and Ari count down, THREE!
TWO! ONE! GO!

[Squeaking, rustling]

Elinor shouts, WHEE!

[Horn honks]

Camilla Camel races past Elinor in a small yellow car with a light blue stripe on the side. She wears a blue helmet with a yellow strip.

Camilla says, COMING THROUGH!

Elinor says, WHOA.

[Squeaking]

Elinor’s car stops beside Camilla.

Elinor says HI, CAMILLA!

Camilla casually leans against her car. She adjusts her side mirror.

Camilla says, HI, ELINOR!
HOLD ON.

Camilla uses a blue cloth to wipe the hood of her car.

[Squeaking]

Elinor says, WHOA! YOUR CAR
IS AMAZING!

[Chiming, upbeat music plays]

Camilla says, THANKS! IT'S BRAND
NEW. I GOT IT FOR MY BIRTHDAY.
I CALL IT THE CAMILLA CONVERTIBLE!

[Chiming]

Elinor says, COOL.

Ari says, YOUR CAR IS SO
FAST, CAMILLA!

Olive says, I LOVE THE YELLOW
COLOUR. AND LOOK, IT HAS A
RACING STRIPE.

Ari says, AND A CUP HOLDER!

Elinor, Ari, and Olive bend over and look at a juice box in a cup holder.

Elinor, Ari, and Olive sigh, WOW.

Camilla picks up the juice box and drinks.

[Rustling, slurping]

Camilla says, YOUR CAR IS NICE,
TOO, ELINOR.

Elinor says, THANKS, CAMILLA.
WE MADE IT OURSELVES!

BUT IT'S NOT GOING AS FAST
AS YOURS.

[Thoughtful music plays, wind blows]

She says, I WONDER HOW CAN
WE MAKE OUR CAR GO FASTER?

HMM... BOTH OF OUR CARS HAVE
THE SAME WHEELS.

AND WE BOTH WENT DOWN
THE SAME HILL.

I WONDER WHY CAMILLA'S
CAR IS FASTER THAN OURS?

[Excited music plays]

Ari says, I KNOW! MAYBE IF WE
PAINT OUR CAR YELLOW AND
DRAW A STRIPE ON IT LIKE
CAMILLA'S, OUR CAR WILL
GO FASTER!

Elinor says, THAT IS A GREAT IDEA!

Olive says, LET'S TAKE IT BACK
TO YOUR HOUSE AND MAKE
SOME CHANGES.

Elinor, Olive, and Ari push the car away from Camilla.

[Upbeat music plays, squeaking wheels]

Ari waves and says, BYE, CAMILLA!

Camilla says, BYE.

Mr. Rabbit works at his workbench beside Elinor’s house. Elinor carries a pail of yellow paint to the car. She puts the pail beside the car.

[Creak]

Elinor says, OKAY, LET'S PAINT
THE CAR YELLOW.

[Birds chirp]

Olive says, AND ADD A STRIPE!

Ari, Olive, and Elinor paint the car yellow.

[Upbeat music plays, splash, brushing]

Olive and Ari add a red stripe to the car.

Elinor says, THERE!

Mr. Rabbit says, VERY NICE!
BUT WHY DID YOU REPAINT
YOUR CAR?

Mr. Rabbit wipes his hands together as he walks to the car.

[Rubbing]

Olive says, WELL, CAMILLA HAS A FAST CAR
AND IT'S YELLOW.

[Clank, birds chirp]

Elinor says, WITH A RACING STRIPE,
JUST LIKE THIS!

Ari says, WE THOUGHT IF WE MADE
OUR CAR THE SAME COLOUR AS HERS,
OUR CAR MIGHT GO FASTER TOO.

[Birds sing]

Mr. Rabbit says, OH, O-OKAY!

Elinor says, AND NOW, TO TEST IT.
BYE, DAD!

[Mr. Rabbit chuckles, rustling, energetic music plays]

Mr. Rabbit waves and says, BYE, KIDS.

[Birds chirp, upbeat music plays]

Ari, Olive, and Elinor push the car up the small hill.

[Straining]

Elinor grunts, THIS IS A BIG HILL.

A blue bird swoops past Elinor, Olive, and Ari as they strain to push the car up the hill.

[Birds sing, whoosh, wind blows]

Elinor says, HUH? WHOA!
THAT BIRD IS SO FAST!

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW
FAST WE GO!

[Wind blows]

Olive says, YEAH! C'MON.

[Straining, sighing, upbeat music plays, rustling, wind blows]

Ari says, PHEW.

Elinor says, OOH... I HAVE A GOOD
FEELING ABOUT THIS!

Olive says, OUR CAR LOOKS
SO FAST!

Ari nods. Elinor hops into the car.

[Thud]

Ari asks, READY?

Olive says, SET!

Ari and Olive shout, GO!

[Upbeat music plays, rustling]

Elinor’s car rolls down the hill.

Elinor shouts, WHEE!

[Horn honks]

Camilla races past Elinor.

Camilla shouts, WHEE!

Elinor’s car rolls to a stop beside Camilla’s car.

[Rustling]

Ari says, AW, IT DIDN'T GO FASTER.

[Birds sing]

Olive asks, WHAT HAPPENED?

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, HMM... PAINTING
OUR CAR YELLOW WITH A RACING
STRIPE DIDN'T MAKE OUR CAR
GO FASTER.

Ari says, I REALLY THOUGHT
THAT WOULD HELP.

Olive asks, WHAT ELSE CAN
WE TRY?

Elinor says, HMM...

Camilla wipes the hood of her car with the blue cloth.

[Squeaking]

Ari suggests, MAYBE IT'S THE
CUP HOLDER. HER CAR HAS ONE
BUT OURS DOESN'T.

Camilla drinks from her juice box.

[Slurping]

Elinor says, LET'S PUT A CUP
HOLDER IN OUR CAR.

Ari says, LET'S GO!

[Rustling, upbeat music plays]

Ari bends cardboard into a circle and Olive puts cardboard across one side. Ari gives the cup holder to Elinor. Elinor tapes the cup holder to the inside of the wagon car. She puts a lidded cup with a straw in the cup holder.

[Tape tears, thudding]

Elinor says, THERE, NOW OUR
CAR HAS A CUP HOLDER TOO.

I BET THAT'S GONNA MAKE IT
FASTER. LET'S GO TRY IT OUT.

[Rustling, birds chirp, upbeat music plays]

Olive, Ari, and Elinor push the car over a bridge over a creek.

[Squeaking wheels, splashing]

Ari lets go of the car and peers at fish swimming under the bridge.

Ari says, OOH. HI, LITTLE FISHIES!
WHOA, THOSE ARE SOME FAST FISH!

[Bubbling, wind blows]

Elinor says, I HAVE A REALLY
GOOD FEELING ABOUT THIS.

Olive says, OUR CAR LOOKS SUPER FAST.

Ari jumps with excitement.

Ari cheers, WOO-HOO!
READY!

Olive says, SET!

Olive and Ari shout, GO!

[Energetic music plays]

Elinor says, WHEE!

[Horn honks]

Camilla rolls past Elinor.

Camilla shouts, WHEE!

Elinor looks disappointed.

[Rustling, squeaking]

Ari says, HUH. IT STILL
DIDN'T GO FASTER.

Elinor says, ADDING A CUP
HOLDER DIDN'T MAKE THE
CAR GO FASTER. HMM...

WHAT ELSE IS DIFFERENT
ABOUT OUR CAR?

Camilla wipes the hood of her car.

[Rustling, squeaking, thoughtful music plays]

Olive says, WAIT A MINUTE,
I NOTICE SOMETHING!

Olive takes a notepad and a green crayon out of her bag. She draws both of the cars.

[Scratching]

Olive says, OUR CAR IS BOXY,
LIKE THIS. AND CAMILLA'S CAR
IS KIND OF SHAPED LIKE THIS

Ari says, OH! I SEE THE DIFFERENCE.

Elinor says, YOU'RE RIGHT!
WE NEED TO CHANGE THE SHAPE
OF OUR CAR.

C'MON, LET'S GO BACK TO MY YARD.

[Upbeat music plays, rustling]

Olive says, OKAY, LET'S CHANGE
THE SHAPE OF OUR CAR.

Ari asks, ARE WE SURE THIS
IS GOING TO WORK?

Elinor says, MAYBE WE SHOULD
THINK ABOUT OTHER THINGS
THAT MOVE FAST, JUST TO BE SURE.

A thought bubble forms above Elinor’s head as she thinks about swooping blue birds.

[Birds sing, popping]

Elinor says, BIRDS!
BIRDS ARE REALLY FAST!

Olive draws a bird beneath the drawing of Camilla’s car on the notepad.

[Birds sing, whooshing, scratching, upbeat music plays]

Fish swim and dive in a thought bubble over Ari’s head.

[Popping, splashing]

Ari says, HMM... OH, OH, AND
FISH! FISH ARE SUPER FAST, TOO!

Olive draws a fish beneath the drawing of a bird.

[Scratching, upbeat music plays]

Ari exclaims, WAIT A SECOND.
LOOK! THEY'RE ALL SORT OF
THE SAME SHAPE.

Olive says, CAMILLA'S CAR, THE
BIRD, AND THE FISH - THEY'RE ALL
POINTY IN THE FRONT AND ROUND
IN THE MIDDLE.

Ari says, AND THEY'RE ALL FAST!

Mr. Rabbit says, OH, YES, THAT'S
CALLED BEING "STREAMLINED."

A thought bubble above Mr. Rabbit shows wind moving around a yellow car. The wind pushes against a box on wheels.

[Popping, whooshing, tires squeal]

Mr. Rabbit says, IT MEANS IT'S EASIER
FOR THE AIR TO GO AROUND YOU,
INSTEAD OF PUSHING YOU BACK.

SO, THINGS THAT ARE STREAMLINED
CAN MOVE THROUGH THE AIR FASTER,
BUT BOXY THINGS GET SLOWED DOWN.

Elinor, Olive, and Ari say, COOL!

Elinor says, WHOA, THAT IS SO
INTERESTING! LET'S DO IT!
LET'S MAKE THE SHAPE OF
OUR CAR STREAMLINED!

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive sings, IF A CAR IS PAINTED SLICK.

Ari sings, BUT IT'S BOXY LIKE A BRICK.

[Wind blows]

Elinor sings, THEN IT JUST WON'T GO
THAT QUICK!

Olive sings, SO, WITH SCISSORS AND
SOME TAPE.

Mr. Rabbit cuts part of the box off.

[Snipping]

Ari sings, WE'RE GONNA CHANGE
ITS SHAPE.

[Scratching]

Elinor sings, 'CAUSE WE LEARNED
AND NOW WE KNOW...

Elinor, Ari, and Olive sing, THAT
POINTY SHAPES HELP YOU GO
POINTY SHAPES HELP... YOU... GO!

Elinor gestures at the rebuilt car. Paint makes the streamlined box look like a bird, with a yellow beak and a blue tail and wings.

Ari shouts, YEAH!

[Birds chirp]

Elinor leaps with joy.

Elinor says, WOO-HOO!
NOW, IT'S A LOT POINTIER.

IT'S LIKE A BIRD CAR!

[Mr. Rabbit gasps]

Mr. Rabbit says, YOU COULD
CALL IT...THE CHICKEN COUPE.

[Mr. Rabbit giggles]

[Cricket chirps]

[Mr. Rabbit giggles]

Mr. Rabbit says,THAT'S
ANOTHER DAD JOKE.
A-CHA-CHA!

[Happy music plays]

Elinor says, HMM...

[Laughter]

Elinor says, OKAY,
LET'S GO TRY IT!

Mr. Rabbit says, GO
GET 'EM, KIDS.

[Upbeat music plays]

[Wind gusts]

Ari stands behind Camilla’s car. Olive stands behind Elinor’s car.

Ari asks, READY?

Olive says, SET.

Ari and Olive shout, GO!

They push the cars.

[Camilla and Elinor laugh, rustling, upbeat music plays]

Camilla cheers, YEAH!
YOU DID IT, ELINOR!

NOW, THE CAR YOU MADE
IS JUST AS FAST AS MINE!

[Background cheering]

Camilla and Elinor high five.

[Hands slap]

Elinor says, YEP, ALL BECAUSE
OF ITS POINTY SHAPE, WHICH
WE LEARNED FROM NATURE.

IT'S STREAMLINED!
LIKE A BIRD OR A FISH!

Olive says, THAT WAS AWESOME!

Ari says, YOU WERE SO FAST!
I WANNA GO NEXT!

[Cheering, giggling]

Olive hops in Elinor’s car.

Olive says, SO COOL!

Ari shouts, WOO-HOO!

[Laughing]

Elinor shouts, WOO-HOO!

[Laughing]

Elinor shouts, SO MUCH FUN!

Elinor pushes the car as Olive sits in it. Olive wears Camilla’s blue and yellow helmet.

Olive says, C'MON, LET'S GO RACE!

[Ari trumpets]

Señor Tapir sits on a tree stump in a clearing. He holds his guitar as children sit on the grass in front of him.

[Birds chirp]

Señor Tapir says, LET'S SING
A SONG ABOUT SPEED.

WHO KNOWS WHAT THE
WORD "SPEED" MEANS?

Elinor says, SPEED IS HOW FAST
OR SLOW SOMETHING MOVES.

Ari brags, I CAN MOVE FAST!

Ari jumps to his feet and flies in a circle.

[Flapping]

Señor Tapir says, YOU SURE ARE
FAST, BUT YOU MIGHT WANT TO
COME BACK TO HEAR THE SONG!

[Energetic music plays]

Señor Tapir sings, HAVE YOU EVER
WATCHED A TRAIN ROLLING DOWN
THE TRACK,AND LOOKED AT THE
SHAPE OF ITS NOSE?

SCIENTIST EIJI NAKATSU DID
AND THIS IS HOW THE STORY GOES.

EIJI HELPED DESIGN A BULLET TRAIN
FOR PEOPLE IN JAPAN TO RIDE
HE LOOKED FOR IDEAS TO MAKE
IT BETTER BY WATCHING THE
BIRDS OUTSIDE.

[Train chugs]

Señor Tapir sings, HE SAW THE
DIVING KINGFISHER BIRD
ITS LONG AND POINTY BEAK

A blue, orange and white kingfisher dives into a pond.

[Splash]

Señor Tapir sings, HE DECIDED
TO CHANGE THE BULLET TRAIN'S
NOSE TO BE SHAPED LIKE
A KINGFISHER BEAK.

HE GOT TO CHOO-CHOO-CHOOSE
THE SHAPE OF THE TRAIN,
AND MAKE THE TRAIN
BETTER THAN BEFORE.

SO, HE USED, USED, USED
THE SHAPE OF A BIRD,
AND THE TRAIN WENT
FASTER THAN BEFORE.

ONCE MORE!

[Energetic music plays speeds up]

Señor Tapir sings, HE GOT TO
CHOO-CHOO-CHOOSE THE SHAPE
OF THE TRAIN,
AND MAKE THE TRAIN
BETTER THAN BEFORE.

[Train whooshes]

Señor Tapir sings, SO, HE USED,
USED, USED THE SHAPE OF A BIRD,
AND THE TRAIN WENT FASTER
THAN BEFORE.

[Birds sing]

Señor Tapir says, WHOA! THAT
SONG MAKES ME WANT TO
GO FAST!

Ari stands.

Ari says, LET'S ALL GO FAST!
FOLLOW ME!

Señor Tapir puts down the guitar. He and the children chase Ari.

[Flapping, cheering, whooping]

Ari shouts, LET'S GO!

Text reads, “One of These Goats.”

Elinor says, "ONE OF THESE GOATS".

Children play on a playground.

[Playful giggling, squeaking]

A child shouts, YEAH!

[Kids cheer, playful music plays]

Text reads, “Directed by Kevin Micallef.”

Ari shades his eyes with his hand as he crouches in a tree. Olive peeks around the tree trunk. Elinor peers over the top of a fallen log.

Text reads, “Written by Kate Barris.”

[Children laugh]

Elinor asks, DO YOU SEE HIM YET?

Olive says, NOT SURE. WE'VE NEVER
MET HIM, SO WE DON'T KNOW WHAT
HE LOOKS LIKE.

Ari lands beside Olive.

[Flapping]

Ari says, GOOD POINT.
WHAT DID MS. MOLE SAY?

Elinor says, SHE SAID WE'RE GOING
TO HAVE A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
NAMED MR. HAMSTER.

A school door slides open. A hamster with brown hair wears a green shirt and dark green vest with brown pants.

[Upbeat music plays]

Mr. Hamster says, HELLO THERE.

[Gasping]

Elinor says, THAT MUST BE HIM.
LET'S GO MEET HIM.

Elinor, Ari, and Olive run to Mr. Hamster.

[Rustling]

Elinor says, HI! ARE YOU OUR
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER?

Mr. Hamster says, THAT'S ME!
I'M MR. HAMSTER.

Mr. Hamster adjusts his eyeglasses.

[Clink]

Olive says, WE THOUGHT SO.

Mr. Hamster says, WELL, NOW
THAT YOU KNOW WHO I AM,
I'D LIKE TO GET TO KNOW WHO
YOU ARE.

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, I'M ELINOR.
I LIKE TO LEARN ALL KINDS
OF THINGS. I THINK NATURE
IS SO INTERESTING.

I ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS.
I DON'T THINK YOU CAN ASK
TOO MANY QUESTIONS.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

[Mr. Hamster chuckles]

Mr. Hamster says, WELL,
I THINK IT'S VERY NICE TO
MEET YOU, ELINOR.

Olive says, I'M OLIVE.
I LIKE READING, ESPECIALLY
MY NATURE BOOK. SEE?

[Rustling]

Olive takes a book out of her bag and shows it to Mr. Hamster.

[Mr. Hamster gasps]

Mr. Hamster says, I HAVE
THE SAME BOOK!
IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU TOO,
OLIVE. AND YOU ARE--

[Mr. Hamster stammers]

Mr. Hamster says, WHERE
DID YOU GO?

[Whoosh]

Ari hangs upside down on the pole of the swing set.

[Birds chirp]

Ari says, OVER HERE! I'M ARI.
AND I CAN HANG UPSIDE-DOWN!

Mr. Hamster says, HI, ARI.

Mr. Hamster stands on his head.

[Giggling]

Ari flips off the pole.

[Whooshing]

Ari says, WHOA! TA-DA!

[Mr. Hamster laughs]

Mr. Hamster says, BRAVO, BRAVO!

[Mr. Hamster laughs, rustling]

Mr. Hamster says, WELL, THANKS
FOR INTRODUCING YOURSELVES.
WHEN YOU'RE NEW LIKE ME,
IT CAN BE HARD TO GET TO KNOW
EVERYONE AND REMEMBER
THEIR NAMES!

[Music flourishes]

Elinor says, THAT'S SO INTERESTING!
I'VE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT.

HOW CAN YOU REMEMBER WHO'S WHO?

[Upbeat music plays]

Mr. Hamster says, UH, WELL, UMM...
I TRY TO LOOK CLOSELY AND NOTICE
WHAT MAKES EACH OF YOU DIFFERENT.

FOR INSTANCE, YOU, ELINOR, HAVE
LONG WHITE EARS AND LIKE TO
ASK QUESTIONS.

AND YOU, OLIVE, HAVE A LOVELY
LONG TRUNK AND LIKE TO READY
OUR NATURE BOOK.

AND ARI, YOU HAVE WINGS AND
LIKE TO HANG UPSIDE DOWN!

Mr. Hamster does a hand stand.

[Giggling]

Elinor says, WELL, YOU CAN ASK US
IF YOU NEED ANY HELP REMEMBERING
THE OTHER KIDS IN THE CLASS.

Mr. Hamster says, OH, MM-HMM.
YES, YES, YES.

Mr. Hamster stands in front of a desk as children sit on a pink round carpet in a classroom.

Mr. Hamster says, GOOD MORNING,
EVERYONE. I'LL BE YOUR SUBSTITUTE
TEACHER WHILE MS. MOLE IS AWAY.

MY NAME IS MR. HAMSTER, AND
I HOPE TO GET TO KNOW EACH
OF YOU BY THE END OF THE DAY.

The door slides open and Lizzie and Mary Goat walk into the classroom. The wears identical yellow coats and each has a blue barrette in her curly red hair.

[Squeaking, sliding, upbeat music plays]

Mr. Hamster says, HELLO THERE.

[He stammers]

Mr. Hamster says, WHY DON'T
I START WITH YOU TWO?

Mary says, HI, I'M MARY.

Lizzie says, AND I'M LIZZIE.

[Upbeat music continues]

Mary and Lizzie say, AND WE'RE
THE GOAT TWINS.

Mr. Hamster says, OH, WELL!
IT'S TWICE AS NICE TO MEET YOU.

Elinor explains, THEY'RE IDENTICAL
TWINS. THAT MEANS THEY LOOK
EXACTLY THE SAME.

Olive says, BUT EVEN THOUGH
THEY'RE IDENTICAL, IT'S EASY TO
TELL THEM APART.

MARY ALWAYS WEARS A
GREEN DRESS.

Elinor says, AND LIZZIE ALWAYS
WEARS A BLUE DRESS.

The twins remove their yellow coats and reveal matching blue blazers, shirts, and skirts.

[Children gasp]

Ari says, NOT TODAY!

Mary explains, I GOT MY GREEN
DRESS DIRTY.

[Rustling]

Lizzie says, SO, SHE HAD TO WEAR
A BLUE ONE. SO, TODAY...

The twins say, WE'RE
SUPER-DUPER IDENTICAL!

Mr. Hamster says, HMM... OH, DEAR.
OH, WELL...

[Mr. Hamster chuckles nervously]

Mr. Hamster promises, I'M GOING
TO DO MY BEST TO LEARN TO TELL
YOU APART BY THE END OF THE DAY.

Elinor turns to Olive.

Elinor says, UH-OH.

[Rustling]

Mr. Hamster says, WELL, CLASS,
I HAVE AN IDEA.

I KNOW AN ACTIVITY WE CAN DO
WITH PAPER AND CRAYON, AND
WHEN WE'RE DONE, YOU'LL NOTICE
ONE WAY THAT EVERYONE IS
DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER.

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive traces an outline of Elinor on a long piece of paper.

Olive says, OKAY, DONE! HA!

Olive holds up the piece of paper.

[Rustling]

Olive says, I DREW AROUND YOU
WITH THE CRAYON, AND THE SHAPE
LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE YOU, ELINOR.

Elinor says, AND THIS SHAPE LOOKS
EXACTLY LIKE YOU.

Mr. Hamster says, VERY NICE, ELINOR
AND OLIVE. THAT'S CALLED AN OUTLINE.

SEE, EVERYONE CAN TELL WHO
YOU ARE BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL
A DIFFERENT SHAPE.

Elinor says, UH-OH.

Mary and Lizzie hold up their outlines.

[Rustling]

Ari says, HMM...IS THAT MARY?
UH, NO, NO. OR IS THAT LIZZIE?

[The twins laugh]

One of the twins says, EVERYBODY
ELSE MIGHT BE DIFFERENT FROM
EACH OTHER.

Mary and Lizzie say, BUT WE'RE
EXACTLY THE SAME.

Mr. Hamster says, OH. UM...

Olive says, OH, NO.

Olive, Elinor, and Ari stand outside of the school doors. Mary and Lizzie swing on the swing set.

[Creaking]

Elinor says, LET'S HELP MR. HAMSTER.
THERE MUST BE SOME WAY THAT
MARY AND LIZZIE ARE DIFFERENT,
SO HE CAN TELL THEM APART.

Ari says, BUT THEY HAVE THE SAME
COLOURED EYES, THE SAME COLOURED
HAIR, THE SAME EVERYTHING!

THEY'RE THE SAME!

[Thoughtful music plays]

Olive asks, SO, HOW DO WE TELL
THEM APART?

Elinor says, HMM...

[Gasping]

[Fluttering]

Ari says, LOOK, A BUTTERFLY.
HUH! AND THERE'S ANOTHER ONE.

Ari, Elinor, and Olive chase the two butterflies. The butterflies land side by side on a bush.

[Rustling]

Elinor says, LOOK HOW COLOURFUL
THEY ARE.

Ari says, BUTTERFLIES ARE SO COOL.

Olive says, LOOK AT THAT.
THEY'RE THE SAME.

[Birds chirp]

Ari declares, THEY'RE IDENTICAL,
LIKE THE GOAT TWINS.

Elinor says, HMM...ARE THEY IDENTICAL?

Ari says, THEY'RE THE SAME
COLOURS - YELLOW AND BLACK.

Olive says, AND THEY BOTH HAVE
SPOTS ON THEIR WINGS.

Elinor says, HMM... I WONDER.
DO YOU HAVE YOUR MAGNIFYING
GLASS, OLIVE?

Olive says, SURE DO.

Olive takes the magnifying glass out of her bag and gives it to Elinor.

[Rustling, birds chirp, upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, THANKS. HUH!
THAT'S SO INTERESTING!

ONE BUTTERFLY HAS SMALLER
SPOTS THAN THE OTHER.

Ari says, OH...

Olive says, SO, THEY
AREN'T IDENTICAL.

Elinor says, NO. THEY JUST LOOK
IDENTICAL AT FIRST, UNTIL WE
LOOKED MORE CLOSELY AND
NOTICED THAT THEY
WERE DIFFERENT.

The butterflies take off and fly away from the bush.

[Fluttering]

Olive says, HMM... ARE YOU
THINKING WHAT I'M THINKING?

Ari says, I DON'T KNOW.

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING THAT
I'M NOT THINKING?

Elinor says, IF WE WANT TO TELL
MARY AND LIZZIE APART, WE HAVE
TO LOOK MORE CLOSELY.

Olive says, YES, AND SEE IF THERE'S
SOME WAY THEY'RE DIFFERENT.

Elinor says, GRAB YOUR NOTEBOOK,
OLIVE. WE NEED MORE OBSERVATIONS!

Elinor stands in front of the swing set as the twins swing. She holds her hand under her chin as she watches them.

Elinor says, HMM...

HI, MARY. HI, LIZZIE.

Lizzie says, NOPE.

[Giggling]

Mary says, SHE'S LIZZIE.

Lizzie says, AND SHE'S MARY.

[Creaking]

Elinor asks, WOULDN'T IT BE
GREAT IF WE COULD FIND A
WAY TO TELL YOU APART?

Mary asks, YOU THINK YOU CAN?

Lizzie asks, HOW ARE YOU GOING
TO DO THAT?

Elinor says, BY LOOKING MORE
CLOSELY, LIKE MR. HAMSTER SAID.

Ari says, MAYBE WE'LL SEE
SOMETHING THAT WE
MISSED BEFORE.

[Birds chirp]

Olive asks, IS IT OKAY IF WE WATCH
YOU WHILE YOU PLAY?

Mary and Lizzie say, SURE!

Elinor asks, READY, OLIVE?

Olive says, READY.

THIS IS MARY AND...
THIS IS LIZZIE.

Olive opens her notepad. She draws a green goat in a dress and a blue goat in a dress. She draws a line between them.

[Scratching, wind blows, scratching]

Elinor says, OKAY. OH, THEY
BOTH HAVE BARRETTES IN
THEIR HAIR.

[Background shouting]

Ari says, AND BOTH BARRETTES
ARE BLUE WITH DOTS ON THEM.

Elinor says, WAIT A SECOND.
LET'S LOOK MORE CLOSELY.

HUH. LIZZIE'S BARRETTE IS BLUE
WITH DOTS. AND MARY'S...

Ari says, IS BLUE WITH STARS!

Elinor says, THEY'RE DIFFERENT!

Olive nods. She draws a barrette with stars under Mary and a barrette with polka dots under Lizzie.

[Scratching]

Olive says, THERE!

Ari and Elinor high five.

[Hands slap]

Ari says, YES! WE JUST STARTED
LOOKING CLOSER AND WE
ALREADY FOUND ONE DIFFERENCE.

Elinor says, WE NEED
MORE OBSERVATIONS!

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor watches Mary and Lizzie clap hands.

[Hooves tap, twins giggle, Elinor gasps, giggling]

Elinor points to her right hand and Olive nods. She draws two arms under each twin and puts a brown line across Mary’s left hoof.

The twins build a sandcastle. Ari stands behind them and checks the height of their horns.

[Gasping]

Ari points at a longer horn. Olive nods and draws an uneven set of horns in Lizzie’s column.

[Scratching]

Elinor says, COOL!

WE LOOKED MORE CLOSELY AND WE
FOUND THREE WAYS THE GOAT TWINS
ARE DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER -

THEIR BARRETTES, THEIR HOOVES,
AND THE SIZE OF THEIR HORNS.

Ari says, WE DID IT!

[Rhythmic music plays]

Ari cheers, CELEBRATION DANCE!
WOOP, WOOP, WOOP, WOOP!

Mary says, I LIKE TO DANCE.

Mary and Ari dance.

Lizzie says, NOT ME. I'D RATHER
WATCH MARY THAN DANCE.

LOOK AT HER GO!

Elinor says, MARY LIKES TO DANCE.

Olive says, AND LIZZIE DOESN'T.
THAT MAKES FOUR WAYS
YOU'RE DIFFERENT!

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, I CAN'T WAIT TO TELL
MR. HAMSTER!

Elinor, Olive, Ari, Mary, and Lizzie run into the classroom.

Elinor says MR. HAMSTER, YOU
WERE RIGHT!

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!

Mr. Hamser says, A-HA!

He snaps his fingers.

[Snap]

Mr. Hamser says, HOW DID YOU
FIGURE IT OUT?

Ari says, BY OBSERVING THE
GOAT TWINS. THEY LOOK LIKE
THEY'RE IDENTICAL.

Olive says, BUT IF YOU LOOK
MORE CLOSELY, YOU CAN FIND
DIFFERENCES. SEE?

Olive holds up her notepad.

Elinor sings, ONE OF THESE
GOATS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER.

Elinor, Olive, Mary, Lizzie, and Ari sing,
NOBODY'S EXACTLY THE SAME.

Olive sings, YOU CAN BE A LOT
LIKE YOUR SISTER OR BROTHER

Elinor sings, BUT NEVER
BE EXACTLY THE SAME

Elinor, Mary, and Lizzie sing,
'CAUSE EVERYONE'S UNIQUE
IN THEIR OWN SPECIAL WAY

Ari sings, AND YOU HAVE
TO LOOK CLOSE TO SEE IT

Olive sings, JUST TAKE A CLOSER
PEEK AT WHAT THEY DO AND SAY.

Elinor sings, AND YOU'LL NOTICE,
I GUARANTEE IT!

Elinor, Olive, Mary, Lizzie, and Ari sing,
'CAUSE EACH ONE OF US IS NOT
LIKE THE OTHER.

NOBODY'S EXACTLY THE SAME
NOBODY'S EXACTLY THE SAME!

[Cheering, clapping]

Mr. Hamster says, THAT WAS-- THAT
WAS WONDERFUL! AND THAT WAS
NICE DANCING, MARY! AND GREAT
WATCHING, LIZZIE.

[Gasping]

The twins say, YOU COULD TELL
US APART!

Mr. Hamster says, OF COURSE!
YOU KNOW HOW?

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, BY LOOKING MORE CLOSELY!

Olive, Ari, and Elinor say, BECAUSE
NOBODY'S EXACTLY THE SAME!

[Laughing, cheering, clapping]

[Upbeat music plays]
