Elinor, a white rabbit with long straight dark brown hair, wears a red and purple dress. She runs on a dirt path and stops to look at a monarch butterfly perched on a grey rock.

[Happy music plays]

Elinor sings, WHEREVER I GO
I SEE THINGS THAT I WANT
TO KNOW,

WHEREVER I AM I FIND THINGS
I WANT TO UNDERSTAND.

GO AND EXPLORE, LISTEN AND SEE
JUST FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

Elinor smiles as she sings on a swing on a swing set. Olive Elephant swings on a swing beside her. Olive wears a blue bow on her head, with a blue shirt, skirts and leggings. Ari Bat hands upside down from the bar on the top of the swing set.

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, WHY DO BIRDS SING?
AND HOW DO THEY FLY?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor watches ants through a magnifying glass.

Elinor sings WHY DO ANTS MARCH?
AND WHERE DO THEY HIDE?

THERE'S SO MUCH TO LEARN
WHEREVER YOU TURN
JUST LISTEN AND SEE
AND FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

[Chiming]

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, ASK A QUESTION
WHAT WILL YOU FIND?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, JUST LISTEN AND SEE
COME AND WONDER WITH ME.

Text above Elinor reads, “Elinor Wonders Why.” A magnifying glass with pink bunny ears replaces the letter ‘O’ in Elinor’s name. Text reads, “Backyard Soup.”

[Upbeat music plays, birds chirp]

Elinor says, BACKYARD SOUP.

Elinor holds a piece of paper as she stands in a garden beside a house. Ari stands beside her holding a basket full of vegetables.

[Paper rustles]

Elinor says, OKAY. WE NEED
TO FIND ALL OF THE
VEGETABLES ON THIS LIST.

Ari says, MMM. I LOVE HAVING
DINNER AT YOUR HOUSE, ELINOR.

Elinor says, AND TONIGHT IS A
SPECIAL TREAT.

Elinor picks radishes out of a garden. She puts them in the basket.

[Rustling]

She says, WE'RE HAVING MY
FAVOURITE! BACKYARD SOUP.

Ari cheers, YAY! WAIT A MINUTE.
IS THAT SOUP MADE FROM YOUR
BACKYARD? LIKE, LEAVES AND
MUD? BLECH!

[Elinor giggles, birds chirp]

Elinor says, NO, SILLY!

IT'S VEGETABLE SOUP, BUT WE
CALL IT "BACKYARD SOUP" BECAUSE
WE USE VEGETABLES THAT GROW
IN OUR BACKYARD GARDEN.

Ari says, PHEW, THAT
SOUNDS BETTER!

Elinor says, I THINK WE GOT
EVERYTHING. PEAS, POTATOES,
CAULIFLOWER, CARROTS,
AND RADISHES.

Ari says, THAT'S A LOT OF
DIFFERENT VEGGIES.

Elinor says, MMM-HM, MY MOM
SAYS THESE VEGGIE PLANTS NEED
A LOT OF WATER TO HELP THEM
GROW, SO IT'S GOOD THAT IT'S
BEEN RAINING A LOT.

Ari jumps in a puddle.

[Splashing]

Ari says, AND RAIN MAKES THE
GROUND SO SQUISHY!

DON'T PLANTS NEED SUNSHINE, TOO?

Elinor says, YEP, WATER AND SUN
HELP PLANTS GROW BIG AND
STRONG TO MAKE ALL
THESE VEGGIES.

Ari says, THAT TURN INTO
OUR DINNER!

[Elinor and Ari giggle]

Ari and Elinor sit side by side at a table. Elinor’s father sits at one end of the table and his mother sits at the other.

Elinor’s father says, THANKS FOR
PICKING THE VEGGIES AND HELPING
TO MAKE THE SOUP, KIDS.

He leans back in his seat and pats his stomach.

[Elinor’s father sighs, Ari slurps]

Ari says, MMM-MM! IT'S SO GOOD!
CAN I HAVE ANOTHER BOWL!

Elinor’s father says, A THIRD BOWL
OF SOUP, WHOA! WELL, OF COURSE!

[Scraping]

Ari says, THANK YOU! MM-MM!
CAN I COME OVER FOR DINNER
AGAIN TOMORROW?

[Happy music plays]

Elinor’s mother says YOU'RE ALWAYS
WELCOME, ARI. BUT TOMORROW,
WE'RE TAKING THE TRAIN TO VISIT
ELINOR'S GRANDPARENTS.

Elinor cheers, YAY, I LOVE RIDING
THE TRAIN! AND I CAN'T WAIT
TO SEE BABA AND BIBI AGAIN.

Ari asks, WHO ARE BABA AND BIBI?

Elinor explains, THAT'S WHAT
I CALL MY GRANDPARENTS.

WHAT DO YOU CALL YOUR GRANDPA
AND GRANDMA?

Ari says, OH, I CALL MINE GRANDPA
AND GRANDMA.

[Laughing]

Elinor’s parents pick up bowls and carry them out of the room.

Elinor says, WE HAVE TO TAKE
THE TRAIN BECAUSE THEY LIVE
FAR AWAY IN A PLACE CALLED
DESERT TOWN.

Ari says, OH.

Elinor says, I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE
SINCE I WAS A BABY BUNNY, SO
I DON'T REALLY REMEMBER WHAT
IT'S LIKE.

Ari asks, WHAT ARE YOU GOING
TO DO THERE?

Elinor says, HMM. I KNOW!

I CAN SHOW BABA AND BIBI HOW
TO MAKE BACKYARD SOUP AT
THEIR HOUSE!

IF YOU LOVED IT, BABA AND BIBI
ARE GONNA LOVE IT TOO.

[Ari slurps, rustling]

Ari says, GREAT IDEA! CAN I HAVE
A FOURTH BOWL? PLEASE?

[Laughing]

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor peers excitedly out a train window as her mother sits in a seat next to her.

[Elinor gasps]

Elinor says, I'M SO EXCITED
TO SEE BABA AND BIBI!

Her mother says, OH, I'M SURE
THEY'RE EXCITED TO SEE YOU,
TOO, ELINOR.

[Train whistle blows, Elinor gasps]

Elinor says, HERE WE GO!

[Train chugs, upbeat music plays, snoring]

Elinor says, YAY, WE'RE HERE!

[Door opens, gasp]

Elinor says, BABA, BIBI!

Elinor’s Baba and Bibi stand together. Baba wears a blue shirt and grey pants. Bibi wears an orange shirt over her yellow blouse and blue pants. Both have short grey hair.

Bibi says, COME HERE AND
GET A HUG, MY SWEET
LITTLE ELINOR!

Baba says, ME TOO!

[Chuckling]

Elinor says, I'M NOT SO
LITTLE ANYMORE!

[Laughing]

Elinor’s mother says, AND
DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME.

[Chuckling]

Elinor’s father says GREAT
TO SEE YOU, DAD.

Baba says, OH, COME HERE.
HOW WAS YOUR TRIP?

Elinor says, IT WAS SO FUN!
I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW
THE WHOLE TIME.

Bibi says, WELL, I LOVE RIDING
TRAINS AND LOOKING OUT THE
WINDOW TOO. YOU SEE SO MANY
INTERESTING THINGS!

Bibi and Elinor wiggle their ears.

Elinor says, WIGGLE GIGGLE!

[Laughing]

Bibi says, AH, DEAR!

Elinor says, YEAH, I SAW LOTS
OF BIG TREES AND BUSHES,
AND THEN LATER I SAW
SMALLER PLANTS.

Baba asks, WELL, WHAT DO YOU
THINK OF DESERT TOWN SO FAR?

[Upbeat music plays, wind blows]

Elinor says, I LIKE IT!
IT'S SO DIFFERENT HERE.

Bibi asks, HOW SO, ELINOR?

Elinor says, WELL, FIRST OF ALL...
IT'S A LOT HOTTER HERE. PHEW!

AND I ALSO NOTICE THAT THE
GROUND LOOKS DIFFERENT.

THERE'S ALMOST NO GRASS, AND
THE DIRT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE
THE DIRT BACK HOME.

[Shuffling dirt]

Elinor says, IT'S SO DUSTY!
AT HOME, THE GROUND IS WET
AND SQUISHY.

Bibi says, THAT'S A GREAT
OBSERVATION, ELINOR.

Baba says, WELCOME TO THE
DESERT! IT'S DRY AND HOT HERE.

Elinor says, HMM.

Elinor’s mother says THAT MEANS
THERE'S LESS WATER AROUND,
ELINOR. IT DOESN'T RAIN AS MUCH
IN THE DESERT, SO THE GROUND
LOOKS AND FEELS DRY.

Elinor says, THAT IS SO INTERESTING!
WELL, DRY OR WET, I'M JUST HAPPY
TO SEE YOU, BABA AND BIBI.

Bibi says, OH, YOU'RE TOO MUCH,
LITTLE BUNNY!

[Slurping]

Elinor says, AH...WOW, I WAS THIRSTY.

Baba asks, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE
TO DO FIRST, ELINOR?

[Gasp]

Elinor says, I KNOW JUST THE THING!
I WANT TO SHOW YOU HOW TO MAKE
MY FAVOURITE SOUP.

Baba says, YOU ARE GOING TO SHOW
US HOW TO MAKE SOUP? HEH-HEH,
THIS I GOTTA SEE!

Elinor says, WELL, YOU'LL HAVE
TO HELP ME WITH THE COOKING
PART. BUT I'M GOING TO GET ALL THE
INGREDIENTS FROM YOUR GARDEN.

Baba says, WONDERFUL!
WHAT'S IT CALLED?

[Rustling]

Elinor says, IT'S CALLED "BACKYARD SOUP."

[Gentle music notes play]

Bibi says, WELL, THAT IS SO INTERESTING!

Elinor says, AND DELICIOUS, YOU'LL SEE.
WHICH WAY IS YOUR GARDEN?

Baba says, THE BACKYARD IS THROUGH
THAT DOOR.

Elinor says, OKAY, I'LL BE RIGHT BACK.

[Door slams]

She says, WOW! LET'S SEE, I NEED
PEAS, POTATOES, CAULIFLOWER,
CARROTS, AND RADISHES.

OKAY, FIRST, PEAS. HMM. OOH!

HMM, WHERE ARE THE PEAS?
I'LL TRY THE NEXT VEGETABLE.

POTATOES. THEY HAVE TO
HAVE POTATOES.

[Rustling, sigh]

Elinor looks around the garden and consults her list.

Elinor says, NO POTATOES EITHER?

[Sighing, rustling, door closes]

Bibi asks, WHAT'S WRONG, ELINOR?

[Thump]

Elinor says, YOUR BACKYARD
GARDEN DOESN'T HAVE PEAS
OR POTATOES, OR ANY OF THE
VEGGIES WE NEED FOR
BACKYARD SOUP.

Baba asks, REALLY, NONE OF THEM?

Baba looks at Elinor’s recipe.

[Rustling paper]

Elinor says, NOT ONE, ALL THE
PLANTS ARE DIFFERENT.

I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ANY OF THEM.

WHY DON'T THE SAME VEGGIES
THAT GROW IN MY GARDEN AT
HOME GROW IN THIS GARDEN?

Bibi says, WELL, I WONDER.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS DIFFERENT
ABOUT THIS GARDEN AND THE ONE
YOU HAVE AT HOME?

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, HMM, THAT'S A GOOD
QUESTION. LET'S GO FIND OUT.
WE NEED MORE OBSERVATIONS!

Baba, Bibi, and Elinor stand in the backyard.

Elinor says, OKAY, WHAT'S
DIFFERENT HERE?

[Cicadas buzz]

Elinor observes, IT'S MUCH HOTTER
AND SUNNIER. AND THE GROUND IS
REALLY DRY. THAT MEANS THERE'S
A LOT LESS WATER HERE.

HMM. MAYBE THAT'S WHY THE PLANTS
ARE DIFFERENT.

A PLANT THAT LIKES TO DRINK LOTS
OF WATER AND DOESN'T LIKE A LOT
OF SUN MIGHT NOT GROW VERY WELL
HERE. THAT'S IT!

BABA, BIBI! I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT.

THE PLANTS WE HAVE AT HOME
PROBABLY WOULDN'T LIKE IT HERE
BECAUSE IT'S REALLY SUNNY AND
THERE ISN'T MUCH WATER. BUT
I BET THE PLANTS HERE DO.

Bibi says, THAT'S RIGHT, ELINOR.
THE DESERT GETS MORE SUN AND
LESS WATER.

Baba says, SO THE PLANTS THAT
GROW HERE DON'T NEED AS MUCH
WATER, AND THEY LIKE HAVING
A LOT OF HEAT AND SUN.

[Elinor gasps]

Elinor says, THAT'S SO INTERESTING!

Bibi says, HERE, LET US SHOW YOU
WHAT WE DO GROW IN OUR DESERT
GARDEN. THESE ARE PEPPERS.

Elinor says, OH!

[Rustling]

Bibi says, AND HERE ARE SOME
BEANS. AND, OH, THIS ONE IS
CALLED "SQUASH."

Elinor says, COOL!

[Elinor sighs]

Bibi asks, WHAT'S WRONG, ELINOR?

Elinor says, WELL, I'M HAPPY THAT
THESE PLANTS LIKE TO GROW HERE,
BUT THAT MEANS I CAN'T SHOW YOU
HOW TO MAKE MY FAVOURITE SOUP.

NONE OF THE VEGGIES IN THE
RECIPE GROW HERE.

Baba says, WELL, ELINOR, I THINK
THAT THE VEGETABLES WE HAVE
HERE ARE DIFFERENT, BUT HOW
YOU MAKE THE SOUP CAN BE JUST
THE SAME.

Elinor asks, REALLY? YOU CAN MAKE
SOUP OUT OF THESE VEGETABLES?

Bibi says, WHY, YES!
AND IT'S DELICIOUS!

[Elinor gasps, rustling]

Elinor asks, EVEN THOSE PLANTS?

Baba says, YES, THEY'RE CALLED
CACTUSES, AND THEY TASTE GREAT
IN A SOUP.

Baba touches a cactus needle.

[Squeak]

Baba says, OW! JUST BE CAREFUL
WHEN YOU TOUCH IT.

Elinor says, OOH. OH.

[Chuckling]

Bibi says, OH, AND DON'T FORGET
THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT
IN ANY FAMILY DISH, ELINOR.

Elinor asks, WHAT'S THAT, BIBI?

Bibi says, LOTS AND LOTS OF LOVE!

[Chuckling]

Bibi and Baba hug Elinor.

[Upbeat music plays, water drips]

Elinor sings, PLANTS NEED WATER,
PLANTS NEED SUN.
SOME LIKE A LITTLE,
SOME LIKE A TON.

BACK AT HOME, IT'S VERY WET
BUT HERE, THE WATER IS HARD
TO GET.

SOUP AT HOME HAS CARROTS
AND PEAS,
BUT HERE THE SOUP
HAS CACTUS AND BEANS.

PLANTS NEED WATER,
PLANTS NEED SUN.
SOME LIKE A LITTLE,
SOME LIKE A TON.

WHOO-HOO!

[Splashing, slurping]

Elinor’s mother says, MMM,
WOW, THIS IS SO TASTY, ELINOR!

[Chuckling]

Baba says, I TOLD YOU CACTUS
WAS DELICIOUS.

Elinor says, IT SURE IS. OOH!

Elinor puts her recipe on the table and turns it over to the blank side. She draws.

[Gentle music plays]

Bibi asks, WHAT ARE YOU
WRITING, ELINOR?

Elinor says, I'M MAKING A NEW
RECIPE. IT'S CALLED "DESERT SOUP."

[Rustling]

Bibi says, GREAT IDEA!

Elinor syas, AND I WANT TO TAKE
SOME DESERT VEGGIES HOME.

I THINK ARI IS GOING TO LOVE
DESERT SOUP.

Elinor’s father says, WE'RE MAKING
SOUP FOR ARI? YEAH, WE'RE GONNA
NEED A BIGGER BASKET.

[Laughter]

Olive and Ari sit on rocks on either side of Senor Tapir as he holds his guitar. Elinor runs towards them.

Ari says, HI, ELINOR!

Elinor says, HI!

Elinor trips over a tree root.

She says, WHOOPS!
I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS KIND
OF TREE BEFORE.

HOW INTERESTING!
I WONDER WHAT IT IS?

Senor Tapir says, YOU REMIND ME
OF ANOTHER CURIOUS EXPLORER
WHO LOVED PLANTS MORE THAN
ANYTHING. HER NAME WAS INES MEJIA.

[Guitar music plays, birds sing]

Senor Tapir sings, INES MEJIA TOOK
EVERY CHANCE,
TO GO AND EXPLORE AND LOOK
FOR NEW PLANTS.

ONE DAY SHE HEARD OF A REALLY
TALL TREE,
SHE WENT TO FIND IT OUT
OF CURIOSITY.

THE TALLEST OF PALM TREES,
IT LIKES MOUNTAIN AIR,
TO FIND WHERE IT GROWS
SHE HAD TO CLIMB WAY UP THERE.

[Thunder rumbles, wind blows]

Senor Tapir sings, HIKING THROUGH
STORMS AND WIND AND SUN,
SHE GOT A BIT LOST BUT SHE STILL
HAD FUN.

INES MEJIA TOOK EVERY CHANCE,
TO GO AND EXPLORE AND LOOK
FOR NEW PLANTS.

"AT LAST," SHE SAID, WHEN SHE
FIRST SAW THE TREE,
TWO HUNDRED FEET HIGH,
AS TALL AS SHE COULD SEE.

SHE WANTED TO HAVE THIS TREE
BACK HOME,
SO SHE TOOK SOME SEEDS
TO GROW HER OWN.

INES MEJIA NEVER MISSED
A CHANCE,
SHE WENT AND EXPLORED
AND FOUND NEW PLANTS.

Ari says, AWESOME!

Olive says, WOW!

Elinor says, THAT IS
SO INTERESTING!

Text reads, “Colourful and Tasty.”

Elinor says, COLOURFUL AND TASTY.

Elinor’s father takes a pan of cupcakes out of an oven.

[Upbeat music plays, oven door squeaks]

Elinor’s father says, MMM!
OH, THAT'S THE LAST BATCH,
KIDS. THEY ARE ALL DONE.

[Olive, Ari, and Elinor cheer]

Elinor says, I CAN'T WAIT TO SET
UP OUR CARROT CUPCAKE STAND!

Olive says, ME TOO, ELINOR. I BET
EVERYONE IS GOING TO LOVE
OUR CUPCAKES.

Ari says, YEAH, THEY SMELL
SO GOOD.

[Ari inhales, sighs]

Olive says, I'M ALMOST DONE
WITH OUR SIGN. WHAT DO YOU
GUYS THINK?

Olive holds up a piece of paper with a drawing of a cupcake and carrot on it.

Elinor says, IT LOOKS GREAT, OLIVE!

Ari says, YEAH, IT'S MAKING ME
WANT TO GRAB... A CUPCAKE!

[Groaning, Elinor’s father chuckles]

Elinor’s father says, NOW, NOW, ARI.

REMEMBER, THEY ARE FOR YOUR
CUPCAKE STAND, TO SHARE WITH
EVERYONE IN THE PARK.

[Ari sighs]

Ari says, BUT SHOULDN'T WE TASTE
ONE? YOU KNOW, JUST TO MAKE
SURE THEY CAME OUT OKAY.

Ari smiles hopefully.

Elinor’s father says, WELL, YOU ALREADY
TASTED THE INGREDIENTS ON THEIR
OWN, THEN AGAIN WHEN WE MIXED
THEM TO MAKE THE BATTER, AND
THEN YOU TASTED A CUPCAKE FROM
THE FIRST BATCH.

IF YOU KEEP TASTING SO MUCH,
THERE WON'T BE ANY LEFT FOR
EVERYONE ELSE.

[Boinging]

Ari says, YEAH, BUT WHAT IF
SOMETHING WENT WRONG IN
THE OVEN THIS TIME?

WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THEY
TASTE GOOD.

IT'S CALLED "DOUBLE CHECKING."

Elinor’s father says, OH, DOUBLE
CHECKING. DOUBLE CHECKING,
INDEED. OKAY, WE'LL TRY ONE
MORE. HERE YOU GO.

Elinor’s father cuts an iced cupcake into three pieces.

[Munching]

Elinor says, WOW, THEY'RE
SO GOOD.

Olive and Ari say, MM-HMM.

Elinor’s father says, NOT BAD,
IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF.

Ari swallows and says, IT'S A
GOOD THING WE DOUBLE CHECKED.

[Laughing]

[Upbeat music plays]

Deputy Mouse sips a drink on a bench beside a giraffe as Koa the Koala throws a ball. Silas Cheetah runs and leans against a tree. He smiles as he catches the ball.

[Gigglin, thunk]

Koa says, WHOA!

Silas throws the ball and runs.

[Whoosh]

Elinor, Olive, and Ari walk on a path in the park. Elinor carries the sign, Olive carries a folded table, and Ari carries a plate with cupcakes on it.

[Happy music plays]

Elinor says, THIS IS GOING
TO BE SO FUN!

Ari says, THESE CUPCAKES ARE
GOING TO MAKE EVERYONE'S DAY.

Ari trips and the cupcakes fly up into the air. He moves the plate around to catch them.

Ari shouts, WHOA! WHOA, WHOA!
AH, AH! PHEW.

Olive asks, COMING, ARI?

Ari says, YEP.

[Energetic music plays]

As Olive and Ari set up the table, Elinor rolls a log across grass. She tapes the sign to the front of the table and she sits on the log behind the table. Olive sits beside her as Ari stands beside the table.

[Thunk]

Olive says, I CAN'T WAIT FOR
EVERYONE TO TRY OUR CUPCAKES.
I BET WE'LL RUN OUT.

Ari says, OKAY! WHO WANTS SOME
DELICIOUS CUPCAKES?!

[Crickets chirp, children laugh in park, whoosh]

Elinor shouts, AHEM! WE HAVE
SOME CUPCAKES HERE!

Olive shouts, REALLY
TASTY CUPCAKES!

Elinor says, HUH.

Ari shouts, I SAID, WHO WANTS
SOME CUPCAKES?!

[Shouting, giggling in park, upbeat music plays]

Elinor asks, IS ANYONE GOING
TO HAVE A CUPCAKE?

Ari smiles and reaches for a cupcake.

Elinor says, I DIDN'T MEAN
YOU, ARI.

Ari says, AWW.

As time passes, Olive, Eilnor, and Ari look bored. Olive lies on the log as Ari leans against the table. Elinor looks at her left ear.

[Upbeat music plays, Elinor sighs]

Elinor asks, DOESN'T ANYONE
WANT OUR CUPCAKES?

The ball rolls in front of the cupcake table. Koa picks it up and notices Olive, Elinor, and Ari.

Koa says, OH, HEY, GUYS! I DIDN'T
NOTICE YOU OVER THERE. WHAT
ARE YOU DOING?

Olive says, HI, KOA, WE MADE
SOME REALLY TASTY CUPCAKES.

Ari says, AND SET UP THIS AWESOME
CUPCAKE STAND.

Elinor says, BUT NOBODY HAS
COME BY TO HAVE ONE.

Elinor watches a bee fly past.

[Buzzing, gasp]

Koa says, AW, THAT'S A BUMMER.
NOBODY HAS STOPPED BY?
Elinor watches a bee fly past.

[Buzzing]

Elinor says, WHOA, DID YOU
GUYS SEE THAT?!

Olive asks, WHAT IS IT, ELINOR?

Elinor says, FIRST I SAW A BEE FLY
AND GO THAT WAY, AND THEN
I SAW ANOTHER BEE DO THE
SAME THING.

[Buzzing, birds chirp]

Koa says, OH YEAH, THERE GOES
ANOTHER ONE.

[Rustling]

Elinor says, HMM.

Ari asks, ELINOR, WHERE ARE
YOU GOING?

Elinor says, I'M FOLLOWING
THOSE BEES!

Ari says, OH, I WANT TO COME TOO!

Olive asks, KOA, WILL YOU KEEP
AN EYE ON OUR CUPCAKE STAND
FOR A MINUTE? YOU CAN HAVE
A CUPCAKE.

Koa says, NO SWEAT.

[Rustling, munching]

[Buzzing, rustling, insects chirp]

Olive asks, WHERE DID THEY GO?

[Buzzing, gasp]

Elinor points and says, THERE'S
ANOTHER ONE! LET'S FOLLOW IT!

Elinor, Ari, and Olive chase the bee.

[Rustling, buzzing, upbeat music plays, Olive sniffs]

Olive says, MMM, DO YOU SMELL
THAT? IT SMELLS NICE.

Ari asks, WHAT IS IT?

[Olive sniffs]

Olive says, IT SMELLS
LIKE... FLOWERS!

[Rustling]

Bees buzz from flower to flower in a clearing.

Ari exclaims, WHOA!

[Buzzing]

Elinor says, WOW, LOOK AT
ALL THE BEES!

Olive adds, AND ALL THE
COLOURFUL FLOWERS!

[Rustling]

Elinor says, LOOK, THE BEES ARE
ALL BUZZING AROUND THEM.

Ari asks, WHY ARE THEY ALL HERE?

Olive says, HMM, I REMEMBER
READING ABOUT THIS IN MY
NATURE BOOK.

BEES LIKE TO DRINK THE JUICE
THAT'S INSIDE OF THE FLOWERS.
IT'S CALLED NECTAR.

[Buzzing, gentle music plays]

Ari says, OH, SO THAT'S WHY
THEY'RE HERE. THEY'RE
HAVING A SNACK.

Elinor says, WELL, THERE ARE
A LOT OF FLOWERS HERE. THAT
MUST BE WHY THERE ARE SO
MANY BEES. HMM, BUT I WONDER.

HOW DID THE BEES FIND
THESE FLOWERS?

Ari asks, WHAT DO YOU MEAN?

Elinor says, I MEAN, HOW DO THEY
KNOW HOW TO GET HERE?

WE FOLLOWED THE BEES TO GET
HERE, BUT HOW DID THE BEES
FIND THIS PLACE?

Olive says, HUH, YOU'RE RIGHT!
THIS PLACE IS KIND OF HARD
TO FIND.

Ari says, YEAH, IF WE HADN'T
FOLLOWED THE BEES, I DON'T
THINK WE WOULD HAVE EVER
FOUND THESE FLOWERS.

Elinor says, HMM.
THAT'S SO INTERESTING!
WE NEED MORE OBSERVATIONS.

[Upbeat music plays]

She asks, OKAY, HOW DID THE
BEES FIND THE FLOWERS?

Ari says, I KNOW, MAYBE THEY
HAVE A MAP!

MY PARENTS USE A MAP TO FIND
OUR WAY WHEN WE GO HIKING.

In a thought bubble above his head, Ari remembers his mother looking at a map.

[Popping, rustling]

Olive says, I DON'T THINK BEES
CAN CARRY MAPS. BUT MAYBE
THEY FOLLOWED SOME SIGNS?

In a thought bubble above her head, Olive imagines seeing a sign with a picture of a tree pointing to her right and a sign with a red flower pointing to her left.

[Rustling]

Elinor says, BUT I DIDN'T SEE
ANY SIGNS IN THE FOREST.
DID YOU?

Olive says, UM, NO.

[Buzzing]

Elinor says, HMM. I KNOW, WHY
DON'T WE THINK LIKE BEES TO
FIGURE IT OUT?

Olive repeats, THINK LIKE BEES?

Elinor says, YEAH, LET'S IMAGINE
THAT WE ARE BEES.

IF I WERE A BEE, HOW WOULD I
FIND WHERE THE FLOWERS ARE?

[Upbeat music plays]

Ari says, I CAN DO THAT.
LET ME TRY!

Ari flies high into the air.

[Flapping]

He says, BZZZ... WHERE ARE
THE FLOWERS? ANY FLOWERS
OVER HERE?

CALLING ALL FLOWERS!

Ari lands beside Olive.

[Rustling]

Elinor asks, WHAT DID YOU
NOTICE, ARI?

Ari says, WELL, I NOTICED THAT
EVEN FROM WAY UP HIGH, I COULD
STILL SEE THE FLOWERS.

THAT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE SO
BRIGHT AND COLOURFUL.

Elinor says, HMM, I NEVER THOUGHT
ABOUT THAT BEFORE.

THE BRIGHT COLOURS MAKES THEM
EASY TO FIND.

Olive says, SO MAYBE THAT'S
HOW THE BEES FIND THE FLOWERS.
BY THEIR COLOUR!

Elinor says, YEAH, BUT THAT ONLY WORKS
WHEN THEY'RE CLOSE ENOUGH TO SEE
THE FLOWERS. HOW DO THEY FIND
THE FLOWERS FROM FAR AWAY?

Ari bends over a red flower.

[Ari sniffs]

Ari says, MMM. I LIKE HOW THESE
FLOWERS SMELL.

[Sniffing, buzzing]

Olvie says, WAIT, I REMEMBER
I COULD SMELL THE FLOWERS
BEFORE WE EVEN SAW THEM.

Elinor says, THAT'S IT!

THE BEES MUST HAVE FOLLOWED
THE FLOWER SMELL TO GET HERE.

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive says, I GET IT! WHEN THEY'RE
FAR AWAY, THE BEES SMELL
THE FLOWERS!

Elinor says, AND ONCE THEY'RE
CLOSER, THEY CAN SEE THEIR
BRIGHT COLOURS.

WE FIGURED IT OUT!

Elinor and Ari each high five Olive as she stands between them.

[They cheer, hands slap, happy music plays, buzzing]

Ari says, WOW!

THE FLOWERS LOOK AND SMELL
GOOD. THAT'S SUCH A SMART WAY
FOR THE FLOWERS TO GET THE
BEES TO COME OVER.

[Elinor gasps]

Elinor says, OLIVE, ARI, I THINK
I FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET
EVERYONE TO COME TRY OUR
CUPCAKES!

Olive asks, HOW?

Elinor says, WE'LL MAKE OUR
CUPCAKE STAND SMELLY AND
BRIGHT, LIKE THE FLOWERS,
SO EVERYONE ELSE CAN FIND US.

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive says, GREAT IDEA!
I'LL GO GET SOME ART SUPPLIES.

Elinor says, OKAY, WE'LL MEET
YOU BACK AT THE CUPCAKE STAND.

Ari follows Elinor.

Ari cheers, WHOO-HOO!

Ari stands beside Elinor as she sits on the log. Olive arrives carrying paper. Koa holds the ball as he watches them.

Olive says, OKAY, ELINOR, HERE
ARE ALL THE COLOURED PAPERS
AND CRAYONS FROM THE HOUSE.

Elinor says, GREAT. LET'S MAKE
OUR CUPCAKE STAND EASY TO FIND!

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor, Olive, and Ari sing, BUZZ,
BUZZ, BUZZ, THINK LIKE A BEE,
BEES FIND FLOWERS SO CLEVERLY.

BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ, THINK LIKE A BEE,
LET'S MAKE OUR TABLE SO BRIGHT
TO SEE.

BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ, WE CAN TELL,
BEES FIND FLOWERS BY FOLLOWING
THEIR SMELL.

BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ, THINK LIKE A BEE,
NOW OUR TABLE IS EASY TO SEE.

Bright paper flowers decorate the cupcake table.

[Tape snaps, rustling]

Koa says, WHOA! EVERYONE WILL
FOR SURE BE ABLE TO FIND YOUR
CUPCAKE STAND NOW.

Elinor holds a red paper fan in her hand.

Olive says, THANK YOU, KOA.
I HOPE IT WORKS.

Ari asks, BUT WHAT IS THE
FAN FOR?

Elinor says, I'LL SHOW YOU!

Elinor waves the fan over the cupcakes.

[Flapping]

Ari says, OH, GOOD IDEA,
ELINOR! SPREAD THAT YUMMY
SMELL AROUND.

[Slurping, gasp, sniff]

Deputy Mouse says, MMM.
SOMETHING SMELLS TASTY.
IT'S COMING FROM THAT
STAND OVER THERE.

[Sniffing, rustling]

A line forms by the table.

Deputy Mouse exclaims, CUPCAKES!

Olive says, IT'S WORKING!
EVERYONE IS FINDING
OUR STAND!

Elinor says, JUST LIKE HOW
THE BEES FOUND THE FLOWERS!

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive gives each person a cupcake when they reach the front of the line. Ari swoops towards the plate and picks up a cupcake.

Ari says, HERE YOU GO,
MS. GIRAFFE!

WOW, I CAN'T "BEE-LIEVE" IT!
GET IT, BECAUSE OF THE BEES?

[Flapping, giggling, upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, WE RAN OUT OF
CUPCAKES! WE'RE GOING TO
HAVE TO MAKE MORE.

Ari says, THAT'S OKAY.
IT JUST MEANS...

Ari licks his lips.

[Slurp]

Ari says, MORE CUPCAKE TASTING!

[Laughing, flapping]

[Upbeat music plays]
