[Flapping, bird chirps, upbeat music plays]
Elinor says, OKAY. LET'S SEE
OUR STORY SO FAR.
Ari says, YEAH.
Ari puts down a crayon and picks up a piece of paper.
[Rustling, clunk]
He asks, READY?
[Elinor clears her throat]
Elinor says, ONCE UPON A TIME
IN THE ENCHANTED FOREST,
THERE WAS A BIG,
BEAUTIFUL TREE.
Ari holds up a drawing of a tree trunk.
[Olive giggles]
Olive asks, ARI, WHERE IS THE
REST OF THE TREE?
Ari says, I RAN OUT OF SPACE.
I'LL START AGAIN.
Ari drops the paper in the box.
[Rustling]
Elinor says, AND IN THIS TREE,
A BIRD HAD MADE A NEST.
Olive holds up a drawing of a blue bird in a green nest.
[Rustling]
Olive says, HMM... I DON'T LIKE
HOW THE BIRD'S WINGS TURNED
OUT. I'M GOING TO REDO IT.
Olive throws the paper in the box and uses her trunk to pick up another piece of paper.
[Rustling, upbeat music plays]
Elinor says, ONE DAY, AN OGRE
CAME STOMPING THROUGH
THE FOREST.
Elinor holds up a drawing of a red ogre between two green pine trees.
[Rustling]
Elinor says, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.
HE WANTED TO PUSH DOWN
ALL THE TREES.
Olive asks, AN OGRE?
I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE A
GIANT.
Elinor asks, IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?
Olive holds a drawing of a giant.
She says, YEAH, A GIANT'S A
LOT BIGGER.
Elinor says, WHOA! POOR TREES!
OKAY, I'LL DRAW HIM AS A GIANT.
[Rustling]
She says, OOPS. UH, WE'RE OUT
OF PAPER. LET'S GET SOME MORE!
Elinor drops the last paper in the box.
[Rustling, upbeat music plays]
Elinor, Ari, and Olive run into a kitchen where Elinor’s mother, Ranger Rabbit, chops vegetables on a cutting board on a countertop. She wears a blue jacket over a green shirt and blue pants.
Elinor says, HI, MOM. CAN WE
GET SOME MORE PAPER FROM
THE DRAWER?
Ranger Rabbit, says, SURE, ELINOR.
HELP YOURSELF. HOW'S IT GOING
WITH YOUR STORYBOOK?
[Door shuts]
Ari says, GREAT.
IT'S ABOUT A BIRD WHO HAS TO
PROTECT THE TREES FROM A GIANT.
Ranger Rabbit, says, AH, WELL,
TREES DO NEED PROTECTING.
Elinor says, MOM, THERE'S NO
PAPER HERE!
Ranger Rabbit, says, OH?
WELL, WE MUST HAVE RUN OUT!
Elinor looks confused.
She says, RUN OUT? BUT THIS
IS WHERE PAPER COMES
FROM-- THE DRAWER.
[Ranger Rabbit chuckles, gentle music plays]
Ranger Rabbit, says, WELL,
BEFORE THAT, IT COMES
FROM A STORE.
Olive says, YEAH, MR. HIPPO'S STORE.
Ari says, I KNEW THAT.
Elinor says, WELL, WE CAN'T
FINISH MAKING OUR STORYBOOK
WITHOUT PAPER.
MAYBE WE COULD GO TO THE
STORE AND BUY SOME MORE?
Ranger Rabbit says, ALRIGHT.
THIS SHOULD BE ENOUGH MONEY
FOR A PACK OF PAPER.
[Drawer scrapes, coins jingle]
Elinor says, THANKS, MOM.
WE WON'T BE LONG.
[Upbeat music plays, door opens]
Olive opens a door to a store. Elinor hops in as Ari flies behind her. Mr. Hippo leans over items on a shelf as he puts price stickers on them.
[Bell jingles, humming, clicking, upbeat music continues]
Olive says, HI, MR. HIPPO.
Mr. Hippo puts a price on Ari’s face.
Mr. Hippo says, OH! WHOOPS.
SORRY. WE'RE HAVING A SALE.
Ari says, FIFTY CENTS? OH,
COME ON. I'M WORTH AT LEAST
A DOLLAR.
[Laughing]
Elinor says, MR. HIPPO, WE'RE M
AKING A STORYBOOK, BUT WE
RAN OUT OF PAPER.
Mr. Hippos says, AH, PAPER.
YOU CAN FIND IT AT THE FRONT
OF THE STORE, BY THE WINDOW.
[Clicking, happy music plays]
Ari says, HUH? THERE'S NO PAPER.
[Humming]
Mr. Hippos says, HUH?
Olive says, BUT HOW CAN A STORE
RUN OUT OF PAPER? THIS IS WHERE
PAPER COMES FROM.
[Mr. Hippo laughs]
Mr. Hippo says, OH, NO. STORES
USUALLY DON'T MAKE THE
THINGS THEY SELL.
EVERYTHING HERE WAS MADE
BY SOMEONE ELSE.
The children say, OH!
Elinor asks, THEN WHO MAKES
THE PAPER?
Mr. Hippo says, MR. BEAVER, AND
IT LOOKS LIKE I NEED TO ASK HIM
TO BRING SOME MORE.
Elinor says, WHY DON'T WE GO
AND ASK HIM FOR YOU?
THEN MAYBE WE'LL GET TO
SEE HOW HE MAKES THE PAPER.
Olive says, OH, YEAH, OKAY.
Ari says, YEAH, DEFINITELY.
THAT WOULD BE SO FUN.
Olive says, YEAH.
Mr. Hippo says, WELL, THAT

[Bell jingles]
Elinor says, BYE!

Mr. Hippo pulls the price sticker off his elbow.
[Rustle, Mr. Hippo chuckles]
[Birds chirp, water flows, happy music plays]
Elinor, Ari, and Olive walk to a building by a fast-flowing river.
Elinor says, WE'RE HERE!
[Humming, knocking]
Mr. Beaver says, OH, COME IN!
WELL, HI THERE.
WHAT BRINGS YOU TO MY PAPER
FACTORY THIS FINE MORNING?
Elinor says, HI, MR. BEAVER.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR PAPER.
WE WERE MAKING A STORYBOOK,
BUT WE RAN OUT.
Olive says, WE WENT TO THE STORE
TO BUY MORE, BUT MR. HIPPO'S OUT
OF PAPER, TOO.
Mr. Beaver says, AH, SO HE SENT
YOU TO ME. WELL, YOU CAME
TO THE RIGHT PLACE.
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO MAKE SOME.
Ari asks, OOH, CAN WE WATCH?
Elinor explains, WE WANT TO KNOW
HOW YOU DO IT.
Mr. Beaver says, OF COURSE.
IT ALL STARTS... WITH THIS.
Mr. Beaver holds up a small log.
Elinor says, A PIECE OF WOOD?
WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO
WITH PAPER?
[Mr. Beaver gasps]
Mr. Beaver says, EVERYTHING!
PAPER IS MADE FROM WOOD.
Elinor says, WOW!
Olive and Ari say, WHOA!
Elinor says, THAT IS SO INTERESTING!
WE NEED MORE OBSERVATIONS.
Mr. Beaver says, AH, THEN YOU'D
BETTER PUT ON YOUR
OBSERVATION GOGGLES--
Olive, Ari, and Elinor put on goggles.
[Olive grunts]
Mr. Beaver says, --FOR SAFETY.
Elinor says, THANK YOU.
Mr. Beaver says, WELL, GO
AHEAD. NOW, FIRST, I GRIND
UP THE WOOD INTO LITTLE PIECES.
Mr. Beaver puts the small log on a conveyor belt and pushes a button. The conveyor belt moves.
[Click, whirring, upbeat music plays]
Mr. Beaver turns a lever and wood chips fall out of a machine.
[Machine whirrs, clatter, inhaling, sniffing]
Mr. Beaver says, MMM, WOOD CHIPS.
[He smacks his lips, rustling, water sloshes]
Mr. Beaver says, THEN I MIX THE
WOOD CHIPS WITH WATER AND
COOK IT.
Elinor says, COOK IT?
LIKE WOOD SOUP?
[Mr. Beaver laughs, birds chirp]
Mr. Beaver says, EXACTLY, UNTIL
THE WOOD GETS ALL SOFT AND
MUSHY. THEN IT'S CALLED PULP.
NOW, I POUR THE WOOD PULP
OVER A SCREEN, SQUISH OUT
ALL THE WATER, AND TA-DA!
[Water sloshes]
Mr. Beaver says, ONE PIECE OF
SLIGHTLY WET HANDMADE PAPER.
WELL, GO AHEAD. PEEL IT OFF.
Ari says, WHOA!
Elinor exclaims, WOW.
Ari says, THAT'S SO COOL!
[Mr. Beaver laughs, upbeat music plays]
Mr. Beaver says, I'LL HANG IT
UP TO DRY.
Elinor says, I CAN'T BELIEVE
I THOUGHT PAPER JUST CAME
FROM THE DRAWER.
[Mr. Beaver laughs]
Mr. Beaver says, JUST ABOUT
EVERYTHING WE USE IS MADE
SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND IT'S
ALL MADE OUT OF SOMETHING.
[Birds chirp]
Olive says, LIKE WOOD.
Mr. Beaver says, RIGHT. NOW,
I KNOW YOU CAME FOR PAPER,
BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THAT WAS
MY LAST PIECE OF WOOD.
I NEED TO ASK FARMER BEAR TO
SEND OVER SOME MORE.
Elinor says, WE KNOW WHERE
FARMER BEAR'S FARM IS.
IF YOU WANT, WE CAN GO
AND ASK HER RIGHT NOW.
Mr. Beaver says, WELL, THAT
WOULD BE A BIG HELP.
Ari says, WE'RE ON IT, MR. BEAVER.

Ari walks into a piece of paper as it hangs on a line.
[Smack]
Ari says, AH!
[Mr. Beaver chuckles]

WET PAPER.

[Rustling]
Ari says, SORRY. BYE!
[Upbeat music plays, Farmer Bear hums]
Farmer Bear wears grey overalls over a purple shirt. She wears a straw hat as she digs a hole in grass. On a dolly beside her, two small tress grow in small sacks. A line of newly planted small trees stretches behind her towards a red barn.
[Rustling]
Elinor says, HI, FARMER BEAR.
[Farmer Bear laughs]
Farmer Bear says, WELL, IF IT
ISN'T ELINOR, ARI, AND OLIVE.
WHAT ARE YOU SPROUTS
DOING HERE?
[Birds chirp]
Elinor says, MR. BEAVER SENT US.
SEE, WE NEED MORE PAPER
TO FINISH OUR STORYBOOK.
Olive says, BUT MR. BEAVER CAN'T
MAKE THE PAPER WITHOUT WOOD.
Ari says, SO WE CAME TO HELP
YOU PICK MORE WOOD.
Farmer Bear says, HMM... PICK
THE WOOD?
Ari says, YEAH, DOESN'T WOOD
GROW ON TREES?
In a thought bubble above his head, Ari imagines small logs dangling off the branches of a tree. He imagines Farmer Bear picking logs off the branches.
[Popping, rustling, birds chirp]
Farmer Bear says, HMM... NOT
EXACTLY, ARI. WOOD DOESN'T
GROW ON TREES. TREES ARE
MADE OF WOOD.
Elinor says, WAIT.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN?
Farmer Bear says, WOOD COMES
FROM THE TRUNKS AND BRANCHES
OF BIG TREES. WE HAVE TO CUT
THEM DOWN TO GET THE WOOD.
Elinor says, YOU HAVE TO CUT
DOWN TREES TO GET WOOD?
[Solemn music plays, birds chirp]
Farmer Bear says, YES.
OH, OH, BUT DON'T WORRY.
FOR EVERY TREE I CUT DOWN,
I PLANT TWO NEW ONES. THAT
WAY, THERE WILL BE PLENTY
OF TREES IN THE FUTURE.
Elinor says, LET ME GET THIS
STRAIGHT. TO GET PAPER, FIRST,
YOU GET WOOD FROM A TREE.
Ari says, THEN THE WOOD GOES TO
A FACTORY TO BE MADE INTO PAPER.
Olive says, THEN THE PAPER GOES
TO A STORE, WHERE WE BUY IT
AND TAKE IT HOME?
Farmer Bear says, MM-HMM,
THAT'S IT.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU FIGURED
OUT THE WHOLE PAPER TRAIL.
[She chuckles]
[Upbeat music plays]
Farmer Bear dances.
Farmer Bear sings, YOU'RE ON THE
TRAIL OF PAPER,
AND THIS IS WHAT YOU FOUND.
IT ALL STARTS WHEN A TINY TREE
IS PLANTED IN THE GROUND.
THE TREE GROWS TALL AND MIGHTY
UNTIL WE BRING IT DOWN.
AND THEN WE MAKE SOME NICE
WOOD AND TAKE IT INTO TOWN.
THE WOOD GOES TO A FACTORY
TO GRIND AND MIX AND BLEND.
WHOEVER KNEW THAT PAPER
WOULD COME OUT THE OTHER END?
THE PAPER TRAVELS TO A STORE
FROM THERE WE TAKE IT HOME.
OH, EVERY PIECE OF PAPER HAS A
STORY OF ITS OWN.
[Rustling, birds chirp]
Farmer Bear says, WELL, I GUESS
I'D BETTER GET SOME WOOD
FOR MR. BEAVER.
Elinor says, WAIT, FARMER BEAR.
I KNOW THAT HAVING PAPER IS
GOOD AND THAT WE HAVE TO
CUT DOWN TREES TO GET IT.
BUT MAYBE WE DON'T NEED
MORE PAPER YET.
Olive says, WHAT? BUT HOW
ELSE CAN WE FINISH
OUR STORYBOOK?
Elinor says, I THINK I KNOW
ANOTHER WAY.
Elinor takes paper out of the box beside the picnic table.
[Rustling, birds chirp]
She says, LOOK. WE STILL HAVE
LOTS OF PAPER IN THE
RECYCLING BIN.
Ari says, BUT IT'S USED.
[Rustling]
Elinor says, ONLY ON ONE
SIDE. WE COULD STILL DRAW
ON THE OTHER SIDE.
NOW THAT WE KNOW THAT
PAPER COMES FROM TREES,
MAYBE WE SHOULDN'T WASTE
SO MUCH OF IT.
Olive says, GOOD IDEA.
THAT MAKES SENSE.
Ari says, SO, WHERE WERE WE?
Elinor says, PROTECTING
THE FOREST.
[Olive laughs]
Olive says, OH, YEAH.
Elinor says, WHAT IF THE BIRD
TAKES ONE OF HER FEATHERS
AND SNEAKS UP ON THE GIANT?
[Ari gasps, upbeat music plays]
Ari says, OH, OH, OH, AND TICKLES
THE GIANT'S FEET!
THE GIANT LAUGHS SO HARD
THAT HE DOESN'T WANT TO PUSH
DOWN THE TREES ANYMORE!
[Laughing]
Olive says, AND THEY ALL
LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
Elinor says, INCLUDING
THE TREES.
[Birds chirp, rustling]
Senor Tapier carries his guitar as he approaches Ari and Elinor. Elinor kneels and Ari stands beside a tree trunk.
Senor Tapir says, HEY, KIDS.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Elinor says, WE'RE MAKING
ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER.
Senor Tapir says, YOU KNOW, THIS
REMINDS ME OF A STORY I HEARD
ABOUT THE INVENTION OF PAPER.
Ari says, WHAT?
PAPER WAS INVENTED?
Senor Tapir says, AND YOU'LL
NEVER GUESS WHERE THE IDEA
CAME FROM.
[Guitar music plays]

[Buzzing, rustling]

[Water pours]
He sings, HE CHOPPED SOME
PLANTS AND POURED WATER IN,
SQUEEZED IT, DRIED IT TO MAKE
PAPER SMOOTH AND THIN.
SOMETIMES THE BEST IDEAS
CAN BE FOUND,
WHEN YOU GO FOR A WALK
AND SEARCH AROUND.
[Buzzing]
Elinor syas,WOW. I DIDN'T KNOW
THE IDEA FOR PAPER CAME
FROM WASPS.
Ari holds up a wasp made of paper.
Ari says, AND CHECK THIS OUT-- A
PAPER WASP! GET IT?
Senor Taper cheers, BRAVO!
[Laughter]

Elinor says, BATH TIME.
[Insects chirp, upbeat music plays]
The full moon glows above Ari’s house. Ari runs in circles on a round carpet as he holds up blue bird toy with a red chest. Text reads, “Directed by Kevin Micallef.”
Ari says, HERE COMES SUPER ROBIN,
FLYING THROUGH THE AIR!
WHOOS, WHOOSH, WHEW!
Ari hops off his ceiling and lands on tje floor.
[Ari laughs]
Ari’s father says, ARI, IT'S GETTING
LATE. TIME TO TAKE A BATH AND
GET READY FOR BED.
Ari says, AW, DAD! BUT I'M HAVING
FUN PLAYING WITH ROBIN!
HE'S MY FAVOURITE TOY.
[Squeaking]

[Ari laughs]

YOU GET WET, AND THEN YOU

Ari’s father says, MM... I DON'T KNOW.
I SUPPOSE IT'S OKAY FOR TONIGHT,
SINCE YOU'RE HAVING SO MUCH FUN
PLAYING WITH ROBIN.
Ari says, YAY! CAN YOU BELIEVE
IT, ROBIN? NO BATH! AND
EXTRA PLAYTIME.
I MEAN, WHAT COULD BE BETTER?
[Upbeat music plays]
Birds fly over Ari’s house beneath the blue sky.
[Birds chirp, yawning, Mellow music plays, whoosh]

[Gasp]

I SKIPPED MY BATH LAST
NIGHT, AND I FEEL GREAT!

Olive puts her handbag in a cubby at school. She watches Elinor place a carrot in her cubby.
[Children laugh, door opens]
Ari skips into the school.

Ari asks, NOTICE ANYTHING
DIFFERENT ABOUT ME?
Olive says, WELL, YOU LOOK
REALLY HAPPY.

[Olive and Elinor gasp]

Ari accidently puts his hand on blue paint.

Ari picks up Robin, who is covered in dirt.
[Squeak]
Ari pretends to be Robin and says,

[Elinor and Olive laugh, rustling, gentle music plays]
Elinor says, WELL, I LEARNED
SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING
FROM THIS NATURE BOOK.
IT SAYS THAT SOME BIRDS USE
THEIR BEAKS TO STAY CLEAN.
WHEN BIRDS GET LITTLE BUGS IN
THEIR FEATHERS, THEY USE THEIR
BEAKS TO PICK THEM OFF AND
EAT THEM.
IF THEY DIDN'T, THEIR BODIES
WOULD GET FULL OF BUGS.
Ari says, WELL, THERE ARE NO
BUGS ON ME.
Jelly drips out of Ari’s sandwich and lands on his arm.
[Splosh, giggling]
Elinor says, BUT THERE IS JELLY.
[Laughing]
Olive asks, ARE YOU GOING TO
WASH IT OFF?
Ari says stubbornly, NOPE.
THAT WOULD BE LIKE TAKING
A BATH. I THINK IT LOOKS GOOD
RIGHT WHERE IT IS.

[Squeaking]
Ari asks, ANYONE WANT SOME?

Ari moves Robin so the beak of the bird taps the jelly on his arm.
Children play in a playground beside the school. Ari walks to where Elinor and Olive sits by a rock. Dirt covers Ari from head to toe.
[Children laugh]

WITHOUT A BATH.
Olive asks, HOW LONG HAS IT
BEEN NOW, ARI?
Ari says, THREE DAYS. I HAVE SO
MUCH MORE TIME TO PLAY NOW

Ari throws Robin in the air and catches it.
[Squeak]
A red leaf lands on Ari’s arm and sticks to it.
[Ari gasps, blows, grunts]

CHICKENS STAY CLEAN BY ROLLING
AROUND IN THE DUST?
Olive asks, ROLLING IN THE
DUST? WOULDN'T THAT MAKE
THEM DIRTIER?
Elinor says, AT FIRST, BUT THE
DUST RUBS THE STICKY STUFF
OFF THEIR BODIES AND GETS
LITTLE BUGS OUT OF
THEIR FEATHERS.
Olive asks, HUH? BUT HOW DO
THEY GET THE DUST OFF?
Elinor says, IT SAYS HERE THEY
JUST SHAKE IT OFF.
THEIR FEATHERS ARE SMOOTH,
SO THE DUST DOESN'T REALLY
STICK TO THEM.

Ari rolls on the ground.
[Ari clucks, rustling, Olive and Elinor laugh]

[Laughing]

[Ari shakes, grunts]

Elinor and Olive sit with their feet dangling in a stream. Ari walks towards them, covered with dirt and scratching his neck.
[Scratching]
Ari says, AH, MY FOURTH DAY
WITHOUT A BATH.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?
Elinor says, THE LITTLE FISH IN
THE STREAM. THEY'RE NIBBLING
EACH OTHER.
[Ari grunts]
Ari says, OH, YEAH. WHY ARE
THEY DOING THAT?
Olive says, WE READ IN THE BOOK
THAT'S HOW FISH KEEP CLEAN.
Ari says, BUT I THOUGHT FISH
WERE ALWAYS CLEAN.
THEY LIVE IN WATER, WHICH IS
BASICALLY LIVING IN A BATH.
[Ari scratches]
Olive explains, THE BOOK SAYS
THAT FISH CAN STILL GET DIRTY,
EVEN IF THEY ARE IN WATER.
IF THEY DON'T CLEAN THEMSELVES,
THEN THEIR SCALES GET COVERED IN

[Ari scratches]

Olive opens a door to a store. Elinor hops in as Ari flies behind her. Mr. Hippo leans over items on a shelf as he puts price stickers on them.
[Bell jingles, humming, clicking, upbeat music continues]
Olive says, HI, MR. HIPPO.
Mr. Hippo puts a price on Ari’s face.
Mr. Hippo says, OH! WHOOPS.
SORRY. WE'RE HAVING A SALE.
Ari says, FIFTY CENTS? OH,

Mr. Beaver turns a lever and wood chips fall out of a machine.
[Machine whirrs, clatter, inhaling, sniffing]
Mr. Beaver says, MMM, WOOD CHIPS.
[He smacks his lips, rustling, water sloshes]
Mr. Beaver says, THEN I MIX THE
WOOD CHIPS WITH WATER AND
COOK IT.
Elinor says, COOK IT?
LIKE WOOD SOUP?
[Mr. Beaver laughs, birds chirp]

[Solemn music plays, birds chirp]
Farmer Bear says, YES.

FOR EVERY TREE I CUT DOWN,
I PLANT TWO NEW ONES. THAT

Elinor says, LET ME GET THIS

Ari says, THEN THE WOOD GOES TO
A FACTORY TO BE MADE INTO PAPER.
Olive says, THEN THE PAPER GOES
TO A STORE, WHERE WE BUY IT
AND TAKE IT HOME?
Farmer Bear says, MM-HMM,
THAT'S IT.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU FIGURED
OUT THE WHOLE PAPER TRAIL.
[She chuckles]
[Upbeat music plays]
Farmer Bear dances.
Farmer Bear sings, YOU'RE ON THE
TRAIL OF PAPER,
AND THIS IS WHAT YOU FOUND.
IT ALL STARTS WHEN A TINY TREE
IS PLANTED IN THE GROUND.
THE TREE GROWS TALL AND MIGHTY
UNTIL WE BRING IT DOWN.
AND THEN WE MAKE SOME NICE
WOOD AND TAKE IT INTO TOWN.
THE WOOD GOES TO A FACTORY
TO GRIND AND MIX AND BLEND.
WHOEVER KNEW THAT PAPER

THE PAPER TRAVELS TO A STORE
FROM THERE WE TAKE IT HOME.

[Rustling, birds chirp]
Farmer Bear says, WELL, I GUESS
I'D BETTER GET SOME WOOD
FOR MR. BEAVER.
Elinor says, WAIT, FARMER BEAR.
I KNOW THAT HAVING PAPER IS
GOOD AND THAT WE HAVE TO
CUT DOWN TREES TO GET IT.
BUT MAYBE WE DON'T NEED
MORE PAPER YET.
Olive says, WHAT? BUT HOW
ELSE CAN WE FINISH
OUR STORYBOOK?
Elinor says, I THINK I KNOW
ANOTHER WAY.
Elinor takes paper out of the box beside the picnic table.
[Rustling, birds chirp]
She says, LOOK. WE STILL HAVE
LOTS OF PAPER IN THE
RECYCLING BIN.
Ari says, BUT IT'S USED.
[Rustling]
Elinor says, ONLY ON ONE
SIDE. WE COULD STILL DRAW
ON THE OTHER SIDE.
NOW THAT WE KNOW THAT
PAPER COMES FROM TREES,
MAYBE WE SHOULDN'T WASTE
SO MUCH OF IT.
Olive says, GOOD IDEA.
THAT MAKES SENSE.
Ari says, SO, WHERE WERE WE?
Elinor says, PROTECTING
THE FOREST.
[Olive laughs]
Olive says, OH, YEAH.
Elinor says, WHAT IF THE BIRD
TAKES ONE OF HER FEATHERS
AND SNEAKS UP ON THE GIANT?
[Ari gasps, upbeat music plays]
Ari says, OH, OH, OH, AND TICKLES
THE GIANT'S FEET!
THE GIANT LAUGHS SO HARD
THAT HE DOESN'T WANT TO PUSH
DOWN THE TREES ANYMORE!
[Laughing]
Olive says, AND THEY ALL
LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
Elinor says, INCLUDING
THE TREES.
[Birds chirp, rustling]
Senor Tapier carries his guitar as he approaches Ari and Elinor. Elinor kneels and Ari stands beside a tree trunk.
Senor Tapir says, HEY, KIDS.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Elinor says, WE'RE MAKING
ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER.
Senor Tapir says, YOU KNOW, THIS
REMINDS ME OF A STORY I HEARD
ABOUT THE INVENTION OF PAPER.
Ari says, WHAT?
PAPER WAS INVENTED?
Senor Tapir says, AND YOU'LL
NEVER GUESS WHERE THE IDEA
CAME FROM.
[Guitar music plays]
A panda wears a green hat and a yellow tunic with green pants.
Senor Tapir sings, LONG LONG AGO

LIKE WE USE TODAY.
PEOPLE WOULD WRITE
ON PLANTS AND STICKS,

WANTED TO WRITE
ON SOMETHING SMOOTH.

AND SEARCH AROUND.
LUN SAW SOME WASPS
MAKE THEIR NEST,
BY CHEWING UP PLANTS
AND GETTING THEM WET.
[Buzzing, rustling]
Senor Tapir sings, WHEN THE
NEST DRIED IT WAS VERY SMOOTH,
WAS THIS AN IDEA HE COULD USE?
[Water pours]
He sings, HE CHOPPED SOME
PLANTS AND POURED WATER IN,
SQUEEZED IT, DRIED IT TO MAKE
PAPER SMOOTH AND THIN.
SOMETIMES THE BEST IDEAS
CAN BE FOUND,
WHEN YOU GO FOR A WALK
AND SEARCH AROUND.
[Buzzing]
Elinor syas,WOW. I DIDN'T KNOW
THE IDEA FOR PAPER CAME
FROM WASPS.
Ari holds up a wasp made of paper.
Ari says, AND CHECK THIS OUT-- A
PAPER WASP! GET IT?
Senor Taper cheers, BRAVO!
[Laughter]
Text reads, “Bath Time.”
Elinor says, BATH TIME.
[Insects chirp, upbeat music plays]
The full moon glows above Ari’s house. Ari runs in circles on a round carpet as he holds up blue bird toy with a red chest. Text reads, “Directed by Kevin Micallef.”
Ari says, HERE COMES SUPER ROBIN,
FLYING THROUGH THE AIR!
WHOOS, WHOOSH, WHEW!
Ari hops off his ceiling and lands on tje floor.
[Ari laughs]
Ari’s father says, ARI, IT'S GETTING
LATE. TIME TO TAKE A BATH AND
GET READY FOR BED.
Ari says, AW, DAD! BUT I'M HAVING
FUN PLAYING WITH ROBIN!
HE'S MY FAVOURITE TOY.
[Squeaking]
Ari says, TWEET, TWEET.
[Ari laughs]
Ari asks, CAN'T I SKIP MY BATH,
JUST THIS ONCE, PLEASE?
I MEAN, WHAT'S THE POINT OF
A BATH?
YOU GET WET, AND THEN YOU
GET DRY AGAIN. I'M ALREADY DRY.
Ari’s father says, MM... I DON'T KNOW.
I SUPPOSE IT'S OKAY FOR TONIGHT,
SINCE YOU'RE HAVING SO MUCH FUN
PLAYING WITH ROBIN.
Ari says, YAY! CAN YOU BELIEVE
IT, ROBIN? NO BATH! AND
EXTRA PLAYTIME.
I MEAN, WHAT COULD BE BETTER?
[Upbeat music plays]
Birds fly over Ari’s house beneath the blue sky.
[Birds chirp, yawning, Mellow music plays, whoosh]
Ari says, GOOD MORNING, ROBIN!
[Gasp]
Ari says, THAT'S RIGHT.
I SKIPPED MY BATH LAST
NIGHT, AND I FEEL GREAT!
THIS IS AMAZING. FREEDOM!
FROM NOW ON, I WILL NEVER
TAKE A BATH AGAIN!
Olive puts her handbag in a cubby at school. She watches Elinor place a carrot in her cubby.
[Children laugh, door opens]
Ari skips into the school.
Ari says, HI, ELINOR! HI, OLIVE!
Elinor says, HI, ARI.
Ari asks, NOTICE ANYTHING
DIFFERENT ABOUT ME?
Olive says, WELL, YOU LOOK
REALLY HAPPY.
Elinor says, BUT YOU ALWAYS
LOOK HAPPY.
Ari says, I'M EXTRA HAPPY TODAY-- FOR
A REASON. LAST NIGHT, I SKIPPED
MY BATH.
[Olive and Elinor gasp]
Ari confides, AND GUESS WHAT?
NOTHING BAD HAPPENED!
I MEAN, LOOK AT ME! I'M FINE!
I EVEN GOT EXTRA TIME TO
PLAY WITH ROBIN.
Ari holds up Robin, his toy bird.
Elinor says, WHOA!
Olive says, NICE.
Elinor says, HELLO, ROBIN.
WELCOME TO OUR CLASS.
Ari says, TWEET, TWEET.
[Squeaking, Olive and Elinor laugh]
Ms. Mole says, GOOD MORNING,
CLASS. LET'S DO SOME
PAINTING TODAY.
[Upbeat music plays]
Ari says, I'M GOING TO BRING
ROBIN NEXT WEEK FOR THE BIG
SHOW AND TELL.
Olive says, SOMETIMES, I SKIP
BATHS, TOO. IT'S PRETTY FUN.
Ari says, I KNOW! BUT I'M NOT
JUST TALKING ABOUT SKIPPING
ONE BATH. NO, NO, NO. I'M GOING
TO SKIP BATHS FOREVER.
Olive says, ARI, YOU CAN'T DO THAT.
EVERYBODY NEEDS TO TAKE BATHS.
Elinor asks, OR DO THEY?
Olive says, HUH?
Elinor says, I MEAN, LOOK AT
ARI. IF HE SKIPPED HIS BATH

Ari says, GOOD QUESTION.

Elinor takes a book off a shelf.
[Upbeat music plays, pages turn]
Elinor says, WAIT! I KNOW!
I REMEMBER I READ IN THIS NATURE
BOOK ABOUT HOW LOTS OF ANIMALS
STAY CLEAN. IT MIGHT SAY WHY IT'S
IMPORTANT TO TAKE BATHS.
Ari accidently puts his hand on blue paint.
Ari says, WHOOPS. DOES IT TELL
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T
TAKE BATHS?
Elinor says, HMM... I'M NOT SURE.
I'LL KEEP READING.
[Pages turn]
Ari says, WELL, WE'RE GOING TO FIND
OUT.
[Insects chirp, birds chirp, upbeat music plays]
Elinor and Olive sit at their table at school. Elinor reads the book.
Ari says, AH, ANOTHER DAY
WITHOUT A BATH.
Olive says, ARI, YOU STILL HAVEN'T
TAKEN A BATH?
Ari says, NOPE.
Olive says, IT'S BEEN TWO DAYS!
ARE YOUR PARENTS LETTING YOU
DO THIS?
Blue paint covers Ari’s left hand. Dirt smudges across his right cheek.
Ari says, FOR NOW. THEY SAID
I SHOULD LEARN FOR MYSELF
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DON'T
TAKE BATHS.
AT LEAST UNTIL AFTER THE BIG
SHOW AND TELL NEXT WEEK.
THEN I REALLY HAVE TO TAKE
A BATH. TWEET.
Ari picks up Robin, who is covered in dirt.
[Squeak]
Ari pretends to be Robin and says,
I'M SKIPPING BATHS, TOO.
[Elinor and Olive laugh, rustling, gentle music plays]
Elinor says, WELL, I LEARNED
SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING
FROM THIS NATURE BOOK.
IT SAYS THAT SOME BIRDS USE
THEIR BEAKS TO STAY CLEAN.
WHEN BIRDS GET LITTLE BUGS IN
THEIR FEATHERS, THEY USE THEIR
BEAKS TO PICK THEM OFF AND
EAT THEM.
IF THEY DIDN'T, THEIR BODIES
WOULD GET FULL OF BUGS.
Ari says, WELL, THERE ARE NO
BUGS ON ME.
Jelly drips out of Ari’s sandwich and lands on his arm.
[Splosh, giggling]
Elinor says, BUT THERE IS JELLY.
[Laughing]
Olive asks, ARE YOU GOING TO
WASH IT OFF?
Ari says stubbornly, NOPE.
THAT WOULD BE LIKE TAKING
A BATH. I THINK IT LOOKS GOOD
RIGHT WHERE IT IS.
THIS WAY, IF ROBIN GETS HUNGRY,
HE CAN JUST LICK MY ARM. HERE
YOU GO, ROBIN.
[Squeaking]
Ari asks, ANYONE WANT SOME?
Elinor says, UH, NO, THANKS.
Olive says, UH, EW, NO, THANKS, ARI.
I-- I'M GOOD.
Ari says, I GUESS THAT'S MORE
FOR YOU, ROBIN!
YUM-UM-UM.
Ari moves Robin so the beak of the bird taps the jelly on his arm.
Children play in a playground beside the school. Ari walks to where Elinor and Olive sits by a rock. Dirt covers Ari from head to toe.
[Children laugh]
Ari says, AH, ANOTHER DAY
WITHOUT A BATH.
Olive asks, HOW LONG HAS IT
BEEN NOW, ARI?
Ari says, THREE DAYS. I HAVE SO
MUCH MORE TIME TO PLAY NOW
THAT I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE BATHS.
Ari throws Robin in the air and catches it.
[Squeak]
A red leaf lands on Ari’s arm and sticks to it.
[Ari gasps, blows, grunts]
Ari admits, I AM GETTING A BIT
STICKY, THOUGH.
Elinor says, WOW! THIS IS SO
INTERESTING! DID YOU KNOW THAT
CHICKENS STAY CLEAN BY ROLLING
AROUND IN THE DUST?
Olive asks, ROLLING IN THE
DUST? WOULDN'T THAT MAKE
THEM DIRTIER?
Elinor says, AT FIRST, BUT THE
DUST RUBS THE STICKY STUFF
OFF THEIR BODIES AND GETS
LITTLE BUGS OUT OF
THEIR FEATHERS.
Olive asks, HUH? BUT HOW DO
THEY GET THE DUST OFF?
Elinor says, IT SAYS HERE THEY
JUST SHAKE IT OFF.
THEIR FEATHERS ARE SMOOTH,
SO THE DUST DOESN'T REALLY
STICK TO THEM.
Ari says, NOW, THAT'S MY
KIND OF BATH.
Ari rolls on the ground.
[Ari clucks, rustling, Olive and Elinor laugh]
Ari says, HMM... THE DUST
ONLY MADE ME DIRTIER.
[Laughing]
Olive says ARI, YOU'RE NOT A CHICKEN.
Ari says, OH, RIGHT.
[Ari shakes, grunts]
Elinor says, THE DUST DOESN'T
FALL OFF OF YOUR FUR LIKE IT
DOES OFF A CHICKEN'S FEATHERS.
Olive asks, NOW, DO YOU WANT
TO TAKE A BATH, WITH WATER?
Ari says, HMM... NAH.
[Upbeat music plays, insects chirp, birds tweet]
Elinor and Olive sit with their feet dangling in a stream. Ari walks towards them, covered with dirt and scratching his neck.
[Scratching]
Ari says, AH, MY FOURTH DAY
WITHOUT A BATH.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?
Elinor says, THE LITTLE FISH IN
THE STREAM. THEY'RE NIBBLING
EACH OTHER.
[Ari grunts]
Ari says, OH, YEAH. WHY ARE
THEY DOING THAT?
Olive says, WE READ IN THE BOOK
THAT'S HOW FISH KEEP CLEAN.
Ari says, BUT I THOUGHT FISH
WERE ALWAYS CLEAN.
THEY LIVE IN WATER, WHICH IS
BASICALLY LIVING IN A BATH.
[Ari scratches]
Olive explains, THE BOOK SAYS
THAT FISH CAN STILL GET DIRTY,
EVEN IF THEY ARE IN WATER.
IF THEY DON'T CLEAN THEMSELVES,
THEN THEIR SCALES GET COVERED IN
STUFF THAT'S NOT GOOD FOR THEM.
[Ari scratches]
Elinor asks, UH, ARI, ARE YOU OKAY?
Ari says, YEAH, I'VE BEEN FEELING
ITCHIER EVER SINCE I STOPPED
WASHING MYSELF.
[Scratching]
Elinor asks, DOES THAT MEAN
YOU'RE FINALLY GOING TO TAKE
A BATH?
Ari says, NAH. THAT'S WHY I LEARNED
TO SCRATCH MYSELF WITH MY FINGERS
AND TOES.
[Ari grunts, scratching, Olive and Elinor laughs]
[Insects chirp, birds sing, upbeat music plays]
Ms. Mole says, OKAY, CLASS.
IT'S TIME FOR THE BIG SHOW
AND TELL.
WHO WOULD LIKE TO GO FIRST?
Ari says, OOH, OOH, OOH!
I WOULD, I WOULD, I WOULD!
[Ari scratches]
Ms. Mole says, OH. UH, UM, NOW,
WHO ARE YOU?
Ari says, MS. MOLE, IT'S ME, ARI.
Ms. Mole says, OH, ARI.
I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE YOU.
[Laughs]
She says, WELL, LET'S SEE
WHAT YOU BROUGHT.
Ari holds up his filthy toy bird.
Ari says, THIS IS ROBIN.
HE'S MY FAVOURITE TOY.
HE FLIES THROUGH THE AIR
DURING THE DAY, AND AT NIGHT,
HE HELPS ME FALL ASLEEP.
[Robin creaks]
Ari says, UM...
[Coughing]
Ari looks at Robin.
Ari says, OH, UH...
[Chuckles, upbeat music plays]
Ari says, I GUESS YOU CAN'T
TELL WHAT HE IS.
UH, HE'S A BIRD! OOPS.
UH, I THINK THIS PART IS
HIS FACE, OR-- OR IS IT?
UH, IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE
HE TOOK A BATH, ALL THE DIRT
AND STICKY STUFF FROM OUR
PLAYING HAS STAYED ON HIM.
HE DOESN'T LOOK THE SAME.
[Sniffing]
Ari exclaims, YOUCH!
OR SMELL THE SAME.
Elinor says, MS. MOLE, CAN OLIVE
AND I DO OUR SHOW AND TELL
WITH ARI?
[Scratching]
Ms. Mole says, CERTAINLY.
Elinor says, WE LEARNED WHY
IT'S IMPORTANT TO TAKE BATHS.
IF YOU DON'T, ALL THE DIRTY
AND STICKY STUFF THAT GETS
ON YOU NEVER GOES AWAY. AND
YOU JUST GET DIRTIER AND DIRTIER.
Olive says, YEAH. WE LEARNED FROM
THIS BOOK THAT ANIMALS FIND ALL
KINDS OF WAYS TO STAY CLEAN.
BIRDS CLEAN THEIR FEATHERS
WITH THEIR BEAKS.
CHICKENS ROLL AROUND IN THE

Olive says, AND SOME FISH EVEN

Elinor says, IT'S PART OF NATURE

[Scratching]
Ari admits, YEAH, I HAVE BEEN

[Sniffing]

FRIEND ROBIN!
Elinor says, YEP, NO MATTER WHAT

[Ari sighs]

[Ari’s father laughs]

[Ari yawns, slide whistle]
