Elinor, a white rabbit with long straight dark brown hair, wears a red and purple dress. She runs on a dirt path and stops to look at a monarch butterfly perched on a grey rock.

[Happy music plays]

Elinor sings, WHEREVER I GO
I SEE THINGS THAT I WANT
TO KNOW,

WHEREVER I AM I FIND THINGS
I WANT TO UNDERSTAND.

GO AND EXPLORE, LISTEN AND SEE
JUST FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

Elinor smiles as she sings on a swing on a swing set. Olive Elephant swings on a swing beside her. Olive wears a blue bow on her head, with a blue shirt, skirts and leggings. Ari Bat hands upside down from the bar on the top of the swing set.

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, WHY DO BIRDS SING?
AND HOW DO THEY FLY?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor watches ants through a magnifying glass.

Elinor sings WHY DO ANTS MARCH?
AND WHERE DO THEY HIDE?

THERE'S SO MUCH TO LEARN
WHEREVER YOU TURN
JUST LISTEN AND SEE
AND FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

[Chiming]

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, ASK A QUESTION
WHAT WILL YOU FIND?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, JUST LISTEN AND SEE
COME AND WONDER WITH ME.

Text above Elinor reads, “Elinor Wonders Why.” A magnifying glass with pink bunny ears replaces the letter ‘O’ in Elinor’s name.

Blue text over trees with orange and yellow leaves reads, “Frozen Fish.”

Elinor reads, FROZEN FISH.

Ranger Rabbit carries a red toolbox as she walks in a forest during the Fall. She wears her beige uniform with a green belt and a wide-brimmed beige hat with a green stripe. Olive, Ari and Elinor run excitedly behind her.

[Giggling, panting]

Elinor tags Ari.

Elinor says, TAG, YOU'RE IT!

Ari says, I THOUGHT I WAS ALREADY IT.

Elinor says, WERE YOU? OOPS!
THEN I GUESS I'M IT NOW!
AND NOW YOU'RE IT!

Elinor tags Ari.

Ari says, HEY!

[Ari, Elinor and Olive laugh]

Elinor asks, MOM, WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Ranger Rabbit says, YOU'LL SEE.

Soon, Ranger Rabbit stops by the shore of a small lake.

She says, HERE WE ARE!

[Gasping, birds chirp]

Elinor says, WE'RE AT MOSSY LAKE!

Ranger Rabbit says, THAT'S RIGHT.
IT'S THE BIGGEST LAKE IN ANIMAL TOWN.

Elinor and Olive say, WOW!

Ari says, COOL!

Ranger Rabbit kneels by the water and puts down her toolbox. She opens it and takes out a sample jar with a blue lid. Ranger Rabbit takes the lid off the jar and fills it with water.

[Clink, clunk, splash, footsteps crunch]

Ari asks, WHAT ARE YOU DOING,
RANGER RABBIT?

Ranger Rabbit puts the lid on the sample jar.

Ranger Rabbit says, OH, JUST CHECKING
TO SEE HOW THE LAKE IS DOING, ARI.

I COME OUT HERE EVERY SUMMER,
FALL, WINTER, AND SPRING TO
WRITE DOWN OBSERVATIONS ABOUT
HOW THE LAKE CHANGES FROM
SEASON TO SEASON.

[Clink, splash, birds chirp, gentle notes play]

Olive says, I LOVE WRITING DOWN
OBSERVATIONS. IT'S ONE OF MY
FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO.

[Splash]

Ranger Rabbit says, WELL, THE WATER
IS DEFINITELY COLDER NOW THAT
IT'S FALL.

BUT IT'S STILL LIQUID, WHICH
MEANS IT'S STILL FLOWING.

[Quacking]

Ranger Rabbit continues, AND WE STILL
HAVE A FEW DUCKS THAT HAVEN'T
FLOWN SOUTH FOR THE WINTER.

Ari dips his toes in the water.

[Splash]

Ari says, AUGH!

THAT WATER IS PRETTY COLD!
BETTER HURRY UP, DUCKS.

The ducks take off and fly low over the water. They turn and fly away from the lake.

[Flapping]

Olive says, WOW!
THERE THEY GO.

[Laughing, quacking]

Elinor shouts, BYE, DUCKS!
HAVE A GOOD TRIP!

[Splashing]

Elinor shouts, OLIVE, ARI!
LOOK AT THIS!

Olive asks, WHAT IS IT, ELINOR?

Elinor says, I SAW A SPLASH.
IT WAS RIGHT ABOUT THERE.

A grey fish jumps out of the water and falls back in.

[Splash, gasp]

Elinor says, IT'S A FISH!

Olive says, THAT'S DEFINITELY
NOT A DUCK!

[Olive, Ari and Elinor laugh]

Ranger Rabbit says, I THINK THAT
FISH IS A LAKE TROUT.

THERE ARE A LOT OF TROUT THIS
YEAR, THAT'S GOOD.

[Gentle notes play]

Elinor says, HMM.
WHY DO THE FISH JUMP LIKE THAT?

Ranger Rabbit says, THEY'RE PROBABLY
TRYING TO CATCH AND EAT THE BUGS
THAT ARE ON THE SURFACE OF
THE WATER.

[Splash, gasp, musical flourish]

Ari says, LOOK!
ANOTHER FISH!

Ari, Olive and Elinor say, WOW!

[Tense music plays]

Olive says, WAIT FOR IT...
WAIT FOR IT...

[Splash]

Ari, Olive and Elinor say, SPLASH!

[Giggling]

Elinor says, I'M GOING TO NAME
THE FISH SPLASHY.

Olive draws in her notebook.

[Scratching]

Olive says, OKAY. LOOK, SPLASHY,
I DREW YOU! YOU'RE MY
FAVOURITE OBSERVATION TODAY!

[Wind whooshes]

Olive says, IT'S REALLY GETTING CHILLY.

Ranger Rabbit says, WINTER IS
ALMOST HERE, KIDS.

LET'S HIKE BACK UP TO THE RANGER
STATION TO WARM UP.

Olive says, BYE, SPLASHY!

[Upbeat music plays]

Ari says, SEE YOU NEXT TIME
WE COME TO THE LAKE!

Elinor says, STAY WARM!

[Splash]

At a later date, snow surrounds the lake. Children sit on rocks and fallen trees on the snow as they put on ice skates.

[Giggling, upbeat music plays]

Ms. Mole stretches beside the lake.

[Grunting, crunching footsteps]

Ranger Rabbit, Olive, Ari and Elinor arrive at the shore of the lake.

Ari says, WHOA, LOOK AT ALL THE SNOW!

Elinor says, I'M SO EXCITED!
I CAN'T WAIT TO GO ICE SKATING
ON THE LAKE!

Ranger Rabbit says, GREAT, DEAR!

BUT BEFORE WE SKATE, I NEED TO
MAKE SURE THE ICE IS SAFE ENOUGH
TO SKATE ON. WAIT HERE, KIDS.

Ari says, GREAT IDEA!

Ranger Rabbit ties a rope to a tree and attaches the other end to her waist. She carries her red toolbox as she carefully steps on to the ice. She walks forward, kneels and opens her toolbox.

[Crunching, clank]

Olive says, WOW.
MOSSY LAKE DOESN'T LOOK AT ALL
LIKE IT DID IN THE FALL.

Ari says, YEAH, IT DOESN'T EVEN
LOOK LIKE A LAKE!

IT LOOKS MORE LIKE A BIG THICK
PIECE OF ICE.

Elinor cheers, AND THICK ICE IS
PERFECT FOR ICE SKATING!

Ranger Rabbit makes a hole in the ice and puts in a ruler. She puts a small yellow flag beside the hole.

[Grinding, clatter, small splash, crunching]

Ranger Rabbit says, MM-HM.
OKAY, EVERYONE!

MOSSY LAKE IS OFFICIALLY OPEN
FOR ICE SKATING!

[Cheering, upbeat music plays]

People skate on the lake.

Ari says, WHOO-HOO!
UH-OH! UH...

Ari steps uncertainly on the ice and wobbles. He slide forward.

Ari says, WHOA! AH!
WHOA, WHOA! AH!

Ari slips and Olive catches him.

[Slide whistle]

Ari says, HUH! WHOA!
PHEW. THANKS!

[Olive giggles, skates scrape]

A child slides to a stop and sprays snow on to another child.

[Whoosh, laughter]

Ms. Mole leaps into the air and lands on the ice.

[Grunting, laughing]

Elinor skates in a circle around Olive.

Elinor says, WHEEEE!

[Giggling]

Ari says, COOL!
WHOA, WHOA!

Ari falls on his bottom.

[Slide whistle]

Ari says, OOH, THAT'S GONNA
HURT IN THE MORNING.

[Giggling, skates scrape]

Olive says, WHOO! WHEEEE!

Ranger Rabbit says, GREAT SKATING, KIDS!
HERE, HAVE SOME HOT CHOCOLATE.

[Crunching footsteps on snow]

Elinor says, THANKS, MOM.

[Rustling, blowing on hot chocolate, slurping]

Ari says, IT'S PRETTY AMAZING TO THINK
THAT THIS IS THE SAME LAKE WHERE
WE HIKED IN THE FALL.

[Skates scrape]

Elinor says, AND WHERE WE MET
SPLASHY THE FISH!

Olive says, IN THE SPRING, SUMMER,
AND FALL, THE LAKE IS FULL
OF WATER.

BUT IN THE WINTER, THE LIQUID
WATER TURNS TO ICE!

THAT IS SO COOL!

[Slurping, Elinor gasps]

Olive asks, WHAT'S WRONG, ELINOR?

Elinor says, IF THE LAKE HAS TURNED
TO ICE, WHAT HAPPENED TO SPLASHY?

Ari says, HUH?

Elinor syas, THE FISH WE SAW IN THE FALL.

IT WAS SWIMMING AROUND IN THE
LAKE. BUT NOW THE WATER IS FROZEN.

Olive says, OH, I NEVER THOUGHT
ABOUT THAT.

Elinor runs to the lake and kneels beside it.

[Crunching, knocking]

Elinor says, IT FEELS HARD AND SOLID,
ALL RIGHT.

DO YOU THINK SPLASHY IS OKAY?
I HOPE SHE DIDN'T GET FROZEN, TOO!

A thought bubble forms over Elinor’s head. In it, fish swim in water and freeze as the water turns to ice.

[Popping, cracking]

Olive says, OH! MAYBE SPLASHY WENT
SOUTH FOR THE WINTER, LIKE THE
DUCKS WE SAW.

In a thought bubble above Olive’s head, two ducks fly.

[Popping, quacking, upbeat music plays]

Ari says, UH, OLIVE, FISH CAN'T FLY
LIKE BIRDS.

Olive says, RIGHT.

Ari suggests, LET'S TAKE A LOOK.
MAYBE WE CAN SEE INSIDE THE ICE.

Elinor says, GOOD IDEA, ARI.
WE NEED MORE OBSERVATIONS.

Elinor, Olive and Ari skate out on to the ice.

[Ari grunts, scraping]

Ari says, WHOA, AHH!

Ari falls.

[Slide whistle, giggling]

Elinor says, I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING.

Olive says, ME NEITHER.

Ari says, I SEE SOMETHING...ICE.

[Knocking, giggling]

Olive says, I KNOW!
WHAT IF WE TRY TO MELT A LITTLE
OF THE ICE SO IT TURNS INTO
LIQUID WATER AGAIN?

MY TRUNK IS NICE AND WARM.

Olive rubs her trunk on the ice.

[Scraping, grunt, gentle music plays]

Olive says, HMM...

[Scraping, grunting]

Elinor asks, IS THE ICE MELTING?

Olive sounds stuffed up as she replies, NOT REALLY.
AND NOW MY TRUNK IS COLD.

Elinor says, HMM.

Ari says, AND WE STILL CAN'T SEE
ANYTHING.

Elinor says, HMM, I WONDER WHAT
HAPPENED TO SPLASHY. AND WHAT
ABOUT ALL OF THE OTHER FISH IN
THE LAKE?

HOW CAN THEY SWIM? OR FIND FOOD?

[Ms. Mole laughs, upbeat music plays]

Olive notices the yellow flag beside the hole.

Olive asks, WHAT'S THAT?

[Grunting]

Ari tries to stand. Olive and Elinor skate to him and each takes one of his arms. They skate to the hole.

Ari says, HUH?
WHOO-HOO!

[Giggling]

Ari slowly slides past the hole.

Ari says, LOOK!
IT'S A HOLE, BE RIGHT BACK...WHOA!

I SAW RANGER RABBIT MAKE IT WHEN
SHE WAS CHECKING THE ICE. UH-OH!

Ari falls on his bottom.

[Slide whistle, giggling]

Elinor says, HOLES ARE PERFECT
FOR MAKING OBSERVATIONS!
LOOK, THERE'S WATER DOWN THERE!

Olive and Ari bang heads over the hole.

Ari says, OW!

Olive says, HEY!

[Gentle music plays]

Ari says, YOU'RE RIGHT!

Olive says, THERE'S WATER UNDER THE ICE!

Elinor says, I THOUGHT THE
WHOLE LAKE WAS FROZEN.

Olive says, WHOA!
MAYBE THE LAKE IS STILL FULL
OF LIQUID WATER.

[Knocking]

Ari says, AND THE ICE IS JUST ON TOP.

Elinor says, MOM, MOM! LOOK!

Ranger Rabbit says, OH, OKAY.

Ranger Rabbit carries her toolbox to the flag.

[Clank]

Elinor says, WE SEE WATER IN THAT HOLE!
DOES THAT MEAN MOST OF THE LAKE
ISN'T FROZEN?

Ranger Rabbit says, THAT'S RIGHT!
USUALLY ONLY THE TOP OF THE
LAKE FREEZES INTO ICE. THE REST
OF THE LAKE IS STILL LIQUID.
THAT'S WHY I MADE THE HOLE.

TO CHECK IF THE ICE WAS THICK
ENOUGH TO SKATE ON.

A thought bubble above Ranger Rabbit’s head shows fish swimming under the ice. She remembers making a hole in the ice.

[Popping, clank]

Olive, Elinor and Ari say, OOH!

Elinor says, SO, IF THERE'S STILL
WATER UNDER THE ICE...

THE FISH COULD STILL BE SWIMMING
AROUND DOWN THERE!

Ranger Rabbit says, I CAN SHOW YOU
IF YOU'D LIKE. I NEED TO MAKE THE
HOLE BIGGER TO CHECK ON THE
TROUT ANYWAY.

[Gasping, tapping]

Elinor looks into the bigger hole and sees fish swimming beneath the ice.

Elinor says, OH!

LOOK, THE FISH ARE SWIMMING
AROUND UNDER THE ICE!

[Gasp]

She says, AND THAT ONE LOOKS
LIKE SPLASHY!

Olive asks, WHAT DO THE FISH DO
UNDER THERE ALL WINTER?

In a thought bubble above Ranger Rabbit’s head, a fish burrows into sand.

[Popping, rustling, gentle music plays]

Ranger Rabbit replies, OH, ALL KINDS
OF THINGS.

SOME BURY THEMSELVES IN THE SAND
AT THE BOTTOM AND GO TO SLEEP.
SOME GET CLOSE TO THEIR FRIENDS
TO STAY WARM.

BUT OTHER FISH, LIKE THE TROUT,
STAY AWAKE.

THEY JUST MOVE MORE SLOWLY, AND
EAT AS MUCH AS THEY CAN FIND.

Elinor says, THAT IS SO INTERESTING!

Ranger Rabbit says, ANIMALS FIND
SO MANY AMAZING WAYS TO KEEP
GOING, EVEN WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES.

Olive says, SO, ALL THE TIME WE'VE
BEEN SKATING...

Ari says, …THERE'S BEEN A WHOLE LAKE
FULL OF FISH UNDERNEATH US!
MIND-BLOWING!

[Happy music plays]

Elinor sings, LAKES ARE FUN
TO DIP YOUR TOES IN,
BUT IN THE WINTER,
THEY GET FROZEN.

[Splash, knocking]

Ari, Elinor and Olive sing, ICE, ICE, ICE ON THE TOP
LIQUID WATER ON THE BOTTOM.

Ari falls on ice.

[Slide whistle]

Olive sings, WHEN THE ICE IS HARD
AND STRONG ,
FISH CAN LIVE
ALL WINTER LONG.

Ari, Elinor and Olive sing, ICE, ICE, ICE ON THE TOP
LIQUID WATER ON THE BOTTOM.

Ari falls on ice.

[Slide whistle]

Ari, Elinor and Olive sing, WHEN WINTER WINDS
START BLOWING,
ANIMALS, THEY KEEP ON GOING.

THEY CHANGE WITH EVERY SEASON,

Elinor sings, EVEN WHEN IT'S FREEZIN'.

Ari sings, ICE IS NICE,
ICE IS NICE IT'S SO NICE,
I SAID IT TWICE.

[Slide whistles]

Ari, Elinor and Olive sing, ICE ON THE TOP,
WATER ON THE BOTTOM,

Fish leap out of water.

[Splashing]

Elinor sings, LAKES HAVE FISH
IF YOU CAN SPOT 'EM.

Olive sings, EVEN WHEN IT'S AFTER AUTUMN,

Ari sings, SO GRAB YOUR ICE SKATES
IF YOU'VE GOT 'EM.

Ari, Elinor and Olive sing, ICE, ICE, ICE ON THE TOP,
LIQUID WATER ON THE BOTTOM.

[Slide whistle, happy music ends]

Ranger Rabbit, Ari, Olive and Elinor stand on the ice.

Ranger Rabbit explains, SO YOU SEE,
WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGED, AND
THE LAKE FROZE, THE FISH FOUND
A WAY TO STAY HEALTHY.

[Elinor sighs]

Elinor says, I'M SO GLAD SPLASHY
AND THE OTHER FISH ARE OKAY, MOM.

Olive syas, AND I'M GLAD WE COULD HELP
OBSERVE THE FISH.

Ari says, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!
WHOA, WHOA, WHOA! AUGH!

Ari slips. He flaps his wings and flies above the ice.

[Slide whistle, flapping]

Ari says, PHEW!

THE FISH STAY UNDER THE ICE ALL
WINTER, I'LL USE MY WINGS TO
STAY OVER THE ICE!

[Scraping, gasp, upbeat music plays]

Ari tags Elinor.

Ari says, HAH-HAH, YOU'RE IT!

Elinor says, HEY!

[Giggling]

On a different day, Elinor stands beside a tree with green leaves. She wears a yellow sun hat with red polka dots and her red and purple dress. She points.

[Birds chirp]

Elinor says, I THINK IT WAS THAT WAY.

Ari says, I'M PRETTY SURE IT WAS
OVER THERE.

Olive asks, WHERE DID IT GO?

[Birds chirp]

Ms. Mole asks, NOW JUST WHAT
ARE YOU ALL LOOKING FOR?

In a thought bubble over Olive’s head, Olive and Elinor sit on the edge of a pond with their feet in the water. Ari dances in the pond.

[Popping, gentle music plays]

Olive says, THIS REALLY NEAT POND WE SAW
THE LAST TIME WE WERE HERE.

Ms. Mole says, OH, THAT IS A NEAT POND.

Olive says, BUT NOW IT'S GONE.

Ms. Mole says, IT'S A SPRINGTIME POND.
AND WHAT HAPPENS A LOT IN THE SPRING?

Ari says, IT RAINS A LOT?

Elinor says, OH, I GET IT.
NOW IT'S SUMMER AND THERE ISN'T
MUCH RAIN, SO THE POND IS ALL
DRIED UP.

Ms. Mole says, THAT'S RIGHT!

Ari says, BUT THERE WERE SO MANY
LITTLE CRITTERS LIVING IN THE POND.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?

Ms. Mole says, THOSE CRITTERS
HAVE SOME VERY CLEVER WAYS
TO SURVIVE.

LET'S READ ABOUT ONE OF MY
FAVOURITES CALLED DAPHNIA.

Ms. Mole opens her book.

[Gentle music plays]

Elinor says, LOOK HOW THEY BOUNCE
UP AND DOWN!

Olive asks, ARE THOSE LITTLE EGGS
ON HER BACK?

Ms. Mole says, YES, THOSE ARE
HER BABIES!

Ari says, UH-OH, THEIR POND IS
DRYING UP. WE SHOULD WARN THEM.

Ms. Mole says, NOT TO WORRY, THE
MAMA DAPHNIA MAKES A SPECIAL
CASE THAT KEEPS HER EGGS SAFE
AS THE POND DRIES UP.

[Splashing, rustling]

Elinor says, DON'T THE LITTLE EGGS
NEED WATER?

Ms. Mole says, THEY DO, BUT IF
THEY ARE IN THEIR SPECIAL CASE,
THEY CAN WAIT FOR THE SPRING
RAINS TO FILL UP THE POND AGAIN.

THEN, POP! OUT COME THE NEW
LITTLE DAPHNIA.

[Bubbling]

Olive says, THE BABIES ARE
BOUNCING UP AND DOWN!

Ms. Mole says, NATURE HAS A LOT
OF CLEVER TRICKS TO HELP POND
CREATURES SURVIVE THE HOT,
DRY SUMMER.

Ari cheers, YAY, THE LITTLE
CRITTERS SURVIVED!

[Cheering]

On another day, a red flag hangs from a tree branch. It flaps in the wind. Blue text reads, “Pirate Treasure.”

Elinor reads, PIRATE TREASURE.

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor sits in a split log beneath the branch. Olive stands on the side of the log. She wears an eye patch and holds a small hollow branch.

Elinor says, CAPTAIN ELINOR
STEERS THE PIRATE SHIP
THROUGH THE OPEN SEAS.

READY FOR ADVENTURE!

Olive holds the hollow branch up to her eye like a telescope.

She says, FIRST MATE OLIVE
KEEPS AN EYE OUT FOR ISLANDS...ARRR!

[Birds chirp]

Elinor says, "ARRR?"
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Olive says, I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW
WHAT IT MEANS, BUT PIRATES SAY
"ARRR" ALL THE TIME.

Elinor says, OKAY, GOT IT.
I MEAN, ARRR, GOT IT!

[Giggling, bugs chirp]

Olive asks, WHERE'S ARI?

Elinor replies, HE'S HIDING
A TREASURE CHEST FOR
OUR TREASURE HUNT!

Olive says, A TREASURE HUNT?
ARRRR, THAT'LL BE FUN!
I'LL KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR HIM.

[Upbeat music plays]

Ari walks past bushes with yellow and red flowers.

[Sniffing, Ari sighs]

Ari jumps off a large rock. He hops from rock to rock across a small stream.
[Grunting, humming]

Ari says, WHOA, WHOA! WHOA!

I CAN SEE ALL OF ANIMAL TOWN
FROM HERE!

HEY! A TREE WITH A HOLE IN IT!
THIS IS THE PERFECT HIDING SPOT
FOR PIRATE TREASURE.

Ari places a purple and gold treasure chest in the hole in the tree. He jumps off a rock by the tree.

[Rustling]

Ari says, EEEE-YAW.

[Upbeat music continues]

Elinor and Olive stand in their pirate ship.

Elinor asks, ANY SIGN OF
TREASURE-KEEPER ARI?

Olive says, HMM.. HMM.
THERE HE IS! AHOY! ARRR!

[Giggling, birds chirp]

Ari says, HEY, MY NAME'S ARRR-I,
NOT ARRR.

[Giggling]

Elinor says, WELCOME BACK!
TREASURE-KEEPER ARI, DID YOU
HIDE THE PIRATE TREASURE CHEST?

Ari says, YOU BET.

I FOUND A GREAT PLACE FOR IT,
TOO. NOW YOU JUST HAVE TO
FIND IT! ARRRR!

[Happy notes play]

Olive asks, OKAY, DID YOU MAKE
A TREASURE MAP? PIRATES ALWAYS
USE A TREASURE MAP.

Ari asks, A MAP?

[He scoffs]

Ari asks, WHY WOULD WE NEED THAT?

[Birds chirp]

Elinor says, MAPS SHOW YOU
WHERE PLACES AND THINGS ARE.

IF WE HAD A MAP, IT COULD HELP
US FIND THE TREASURE.

Ari says, OH... HEH-HEH.
I DIDN'T MAKE ONE.

[Rustling]

Olive says, THAT'S OKAY.
WE CAN MAKE ONE NOW IF YOU
CAN TELL US WHERE YOU WENT.
THEN WE CAN FOLLOW IT TO FIND
THE TREASURE!

HERE'S WHERE WE ARE NOW,
THE PIRATE SHIP LOG. WHERE DID
YOU HIDE THE TREASURE, ARI?

[Upbeat music plays, scratching]

Ari says, I HID IT IN A TREE ON A HILL.

Elinor says, GREAT, "X" MARKS THE SPOT!
HOW DO WE GET THERE?

Ari says, WE GO THAT WAY!
AND THEN, UM...
DOWN ANOTHER WAY, I THINK.
AND, UM... AND THEN I'M NOT SURE.

Olive says, ARI, DID YOU FORGET
WHERE YOU HID OUR TREASURE CHEST?

Ari says, NO, I REMEMBER EXACTLY
WHERE I HID IT.

I JUST FORGOT WHICH WAY I WENT
TO GET THERE. ARRR...

Elinor says, YEAH, IF YOU HID IT IN A
TREE MAYBE WE JUST HAVE TO LOOK
IN ALL THE TREES UNTIL WE FIND IT.

Ari says, LOOK IN ALL THE TREES IN
THE FOREST? THERE ARE WAY
TOO MANY.

Elinor says, I GUESS SO.

HOW CAN WE FIND THE TREASURE
IF ARI DOESN'T REMEMBER HOW TO
GET TO IT?

Elinor, Olive and Ari say, HMM...

Siggy, a young grey squirrel, wears a light brown t-shirt and brown shorts.

Siggy says, AHOY! PERMISSION
TO COME ABOARD YOUR PIRATE SHIP?

Elinor says, OF COURSE, SIGGY,
COME ON UP!

Siggy pulls a jar of nuts out of the fallen tree.

[Grunts, rattling, Elinor gasps]

Olive asks, WHOA, WHERE DID
THOSE COME FROM?

Siggy asks, THESE ACORNS?

I HID THEM HERE A WHILE AGO SO
MY LITTLE BROTHERS WOULDN'T
EAT THEM.

WE SQUIRRELS ARE REALLY GOOD AT
HIDING THINGS AND FINDING THEM LATER.

Ari asks, BUT HOW DID YOU REMEMBER
YOU HID THEM RIGHT THERE?

Siggy says, SQUIRRELS ALWAYS HIDE THINGS
NEAR LANDMARKS SO WE KNOW WHERE
TO FIND THEM.

Elinor asks, UM, WHAT'S A LANDMARK?

Siggy says, WELL, A LANDMARK IS
SOMETHING THAT IS EASY TO FIND
AND EASY TO REMEMBER.

YOU CAN USE IT TO FIGURE OUT
WHERE THINGS ARE.

[Olive gasps]

Olive asks, LIKE THIS GIANT LOG!

Siggy says, YEAH, THIS IS A GREAT
LANDMARK BECAUSE IT LOOKS
LIKE A PIRATE SHIP.

YOU CAN'T FORGET IT.

Elinor says, OH, THAT IS SO INTERESTING.
ARI, DO YOU REMEMBER SEEING ANY
LANDMARKS ON YOUR WAY TO HIDE
THE TREASURE?

[Gentle music plays]

Ari says, HMM. YEAH, I THINK I DID.
WHEN I LEFT HERE TO HIDE THE
TREASURE, I PASSED A REALLY COOL
BUSH WITH YELLOW FLOWERS IN
A FIELD!

Elinor says, HEY.

IF WE CAN FIND THAT LANDMARK
MAYBE IT WILL HELP US FIND THE
RIGHT WAY BACK TO THE TREASURE.

Olive says, GREAT IDEA!

Siggy says, HMMM.

A BUSH WITH YELLOW FLOWERS
IN A FIELD? I THINK I KNOW WHERE
THAT IS!

CAN I JOIN YOUR PIRATE CREW?
I KNOW MY WAY AROUND THE FOREST.
I CAN BE YOUR NAVIGATOR AND SHOW
YOU AROUND!

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, WE ALWAYS HAVE ROOM
FOR MORE PIRATES. WELCOME ABOARD,
NAVIGATOR SIGGY. ARRR!

Siggy says, ARRR!

[Bugs chitter]

Elinor says, NOW LET'S GO FIND OUR TREASURE!

Ari, Olive and Siggy say, AYE-AYE, CAPTAIN!

Ari says, YO-HO-HO, THERE IT IS!
I KNEW I WENT THIS WAY. SEE?
IT'S THE ONLY BUSH WITH YELLOW
FLOWERS ON IT.

[Flapping]

Ari says, ALL THE OTHER BUSHES HAVE
RED FLOWERS. THAT'S WHAT MADE
ME REMEMBER IT.

Olive says, AND THE YELLOW FLOWERS
ARE SO BRIGHT THAT THEY'RE HARD
TO MISS.

Siggy says, WHAT A PERFECT LANDMARK!
IT'S DIFFERENT AND EASY TO FIND.

Olive says, I'LL PUT IT ON THE MAP.

[Upbeat music plays, scratching crayon]

Olive says, OKAY, SO WE STARTED AT
THE PIRATE LOG HERE AND WALKED
THIS WAY TO THE YELLOW BUSH.

Elinor asks, WHAT DID YOU DO NEXT, ARI?

[Birds chirp]

Ari says, HMM...

I REMEMBER I STOOD ON A FUNNY
LOOKING ROCK TO GET A BETTER
LOOK. THE ROCK REMINDED ME
OF A TURTLE.

[Upbeat music plays]

Siggy says, I KNOW THAT ROCK!
IT'S OVER THIS WAY!

Siggy leads the others to the large rock.

[Rustling]

Ari cheers, WHOO-HOO!
WE'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK!
THIS IS THE ROCK I SAW BEFORE.

Olive says, THAT ROCK IS EASY TO SPOT.

Elinor says, IT SURE IS BIG.

Siggy says, I CALL IT TURTLE ROCK.
DOESN'T IT LOOK LIKE A TURTLE?
THAT PART'S THE HEAD, AND THAT
PART'S THE SHELL.

Elinor says, IT REALLY DOES LOOK
LIKE A TURTLE!

Siggy says, THAT'S WHAT MAKES
THIS SUCH A GREAT LANDMARK.
IT'S EASY TO FIND AND EASY
TO REMEMBER.

Olive draws on her map.

[Purple crayon scratches]

Olive says, I'LL ADD IT TO THE MAP!

SO AFTER THE YELLOW BUSH,
WE WENT DOWN THE FOREST PATH
UNTIL WE GOT TO TURTLE ROCK.

WHERE TO NEXT, ARI?

[Fingers snap]

Ari says, OH, I REMEMBER!

NOT TOO FAR FROM HERE,
I CROSSED A STREAM IN A FIELD.

Siggy says, I KNOW THAT STREAM.
FOLLOW THIS SQUIRREL!

[Cheerful music plays]

Olive says, HMM, WE CAN'T GO ANY FURTHER.

[Burbling water]

Elinor says, YEAH, THIS STREAM'S WAY
TOO WIDE FOR US TO CROSS.

ARE YOU SURE YOU CAME THIS
WAY, ARI?

Ari says, SURE I'M SURE!

I COULDN'T FLY ACROSS WHEN
I WAS HOLDING THE TREASURE,
SO I CROSSED ON...

[Gasp]

Ari points and says, THOSE THREE
BIG STONES.

Ari, Siggy, Olive and Elinor run to the stones.

[Rustling]

Siggy says, IT'S LIKE A STONE BRIDGE.

Olive says, WOW, ANOTHER GREAT
LANDMARK. IT'S THE ONLY WAY
TO CROSS THE STREAM, SO IT'S
EASY TO SEE AND REMEMBER.

Elinor says, LET'S ADD IT TO THE MAP.

[Scratching crayon, upbeat music plays]

Olive says, OKAY, THEN WHAT DID YOU DO?

Ari says, I HOPPED ACROSS THE STONES,
AND THEN I HID OUR TREASURE ON
THE OTHER SIDE.

Elinor says, WE'RE SO CLOSE!

[Elinor squeals, coughs]

Elinor says, I MEAN, ARRRR!

The children hop on the stones and cross the stream.

[Grunting, giggling]

Olive, Siggy, Elinor and Ari arrive beside the tree with the hole in it. They look down at the twon.

[Rustling]

Everyone says, OOOH. WOW!

[Birds chirp]

Ari says, PRETTY COOL, RIGHT?
TOLD YOU I FOUND A GREAT PLACE
TO HIDE THE TREASURE.

Siggy asks, BUT, UM, WHERE IS IT?

Ari says, IT'S, UM...

Olive interrupts, WAIT A MINUTE,
SINCE WE'RE THE PIRATE CREW--

Elinor says, WE SHOULD BE THE
ONES WHO FIND THE TREASURE. ARRRR!

Olive and Siggy say, ARRRR!

[Rustling, gentle music plays]

Ari says, YOU ARE ALL COLD.
COLDER. EXTREMELY COLD!

WAIT, ELINOR IS GETTING WARMER.
A LITTLE WARMER... LITTLE WARMER...

Elinor walks towards the tree.

[Rustling]

Ari says, WOW, OKAY, NOW YOU
ARE RED HOT!

[Gasp]

Elinor takes the treasure out of the hole in the tree.

[Ari imitates a trumpet flourish]

Ari says, TA-DAH!

Elinor says, THE TREASURE!

Olive cheers, WE FOUND IT!

Siggy says, ARRRR!

[Rustling, upbeat music plays]

Olive says, I'M SO EXCITED, WE
IFNALLY GET TO SEE WHAT'S INSIDE!

They open the treasure chest together.

[Click]

Ari says, SNACKS!

Olive says, AWESOME!

Elinor cheers, YES!

[Munching]

Elinor says, I'M SO GLAD YOU
CAME WITH US, SIGGY.

THE BEST TREASURE IS ONE YOU
CAN SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS.

Olive says, RIGHT!

Siggy says, YEAH!

[Giggling, cheerful music plays]

Olive takes her notebook and purple crayon out of her bag.

Olive says, NOW THAT WE HAVE THIS MAP,
WE KNOW HOW TO GET HERE AGAIN.
WE JUST FOLLOW THE LANDMARKS!

Elinor says, FROM THE PIRATE LOG,
WE GO TO THE YELLOW BUSH.
THEN DOWN THE PATH TO TURTLE ROCK...

Siggy says, ACROSS THE STREAM ON
THE STONE BRIDGE, AND THEN UP
THE HILL TO THIS TREE!

Ari says, MAPS ARE AWESOME!

Elinor says, OKAY, BACK TO OUR
SHIP, PIRATE CREW! LET'S GO!

Siggy, Elinor, Ari and Olive dance on their pirate ship as they imagine sailing on water.

[Happy rhythmic music plays, gull cries, water splashes]

Elinor sings, YO-HO, ME MATEYS,

Everyone sings, A PIRATE CREW ARE WE.

Elinor sings, YO-HO, ME MATEYS,

Everyone sings, WE SAIL ON THE HIGH SEAS.

WHEN YOU SEARCH FOR TREASURE
HIGH AND LOW,
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR MAP
AS YOU GO.

LANDMARKS HELP YOU
CHART YOUR WAY,
TO FIND YOUR PRIZE
WITHOUT DELAY.

Olive sings, THE STONE BRIDGE
LET US CROSS THE STREAM,
AND HELPED OUR
TREASURE-SEARCHING TEAM.

Ari sings, WE PASSED RIGHT
BY TURTLE ROCK,
WHILE OUT ON OUR
TREASURE WALK.

Siggy sings, THE YELLOW BUSH
HELPED US MARK OUR WAY,
AS WE SEARCHED FOR TREASURE
ON THIS FINE DAY.

Everyone sings, LANDMARKS THAT CATCH
YOUR EYES,
WILL HELP YOU FIND YOUR
HIDDEN PRIZE.

Elinor sings, YO-HO, ME MATEYS,

Everyone sings, A PIRATE CREW ARE WE.

Elinor sings, YO-HO, ME MATEYS,

Everyone sings, WE SAIL ON THE HIGH SEAS.

In real life, they stand on their fallen tree in the forest.

Siggy cheers, WHOO-HOO!

[Cheering]

Ari says, YO-HO-HO-HO!

Elinor asks, READY TO SET SAIL?

Siggy says, WAIT, WHAT YOUR SHIP IS CALLED?

[Upbeat music plays]

NAME FOR THIS CREW OF PIRATES.
THE FRIEND-SHIP. ARRRR!
