Elinor, a white rabbit with long straight dark brown hair, wears a red and purple dress. She runs on a dirt path and stops to look at a monarch butterfly perched on a grey rock.

[Happy music plays]

Elinor sings, WHEREVER I GO
I SEE THINGS THAT I WANT
TO KNOW,

WHEREVER I AM I FIND THINGS
I WANT TO UNDERSTAND.

GO AND EXPLORE, LISTEN AND SEE
JUST FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

Elinor smiles as she sings on a swing on a swing set. Olive Elephant swings on a swing beside her. Olive wears a blue bow on her head, with a blue shirt, skirts and leggings. Ari Bat hands upside down from the bar on the top of the swing set.

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, WHY DO BIRDS SING?
AND HOW DO THEY FLY?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor watches ants through a magnifying glass.

Elinor sings WHY DO ANTS MARCH?
AND WHERE DO THEY HIDE?

THERE'S SO MUCH TO LEARN
WHEREVER YOU TURN
JUST LISTEN AND SEE
AND FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY.

[Chiming]

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, ASK A QUESTION
WHAT WILL YOU FIND?

Voices sing, ELINOR WONDERS WHY.

Elinor sings, JUST LISTEN AND SEE
COME AND WONDER WITH ME.

Text above Elinor reads, “Elinor Wonders Why.” A magnifying glass with pink bunny ears replaces the letter ‘O’ in Elinor’s name.

Blue text reads, “Speedy Swimming.”

Elinor reads, SPEEDY SWIMMING.

[Upbeat music plays]

Ranger Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit, Elinor, Ari and Olive wear swimsuits. Ranger Rabbit and Mr. Rabbit carry blue folding chairs under their arms. He wears black sunglasses and carries a basket. Ranger Rabbit and Elinor each wear a swim cap. The children wear lifejackets over their swimsuits. The children run past the adults.

Elinor says, I CAN'T WAIT
TO GO SWIMMING.

Ari says, ME, TOO.

Ranger Rabbit says, AND WE'RE HERE.
MY FAVOURITE SWIMMING SPOT.

Ari exclaims, WOW.

Olive says, AMAZING.

Elinor says, THIS IS MY FAVOURITE
SWIMMING SPOT, TOO.

Olive says, I CAN'T WAIT TO DIVE IN.

Ranger Rabbit says, YOU KNOW, WHEN
I WAS A KID, I USED TO COME HERE
EVERY MORNING TO PRACTISE SWIMMING.

I EVEN WON A TROPHY AT THE
ANIMAL TOWN SWIM RACE.

Elinor says, REALLY, MOM?

Ranger Rabbit says, YEP.
HERE. LET ME SHOW YOU.

Ranger Rabbit reaches into a blue duffle bag. She takes out a golden trophy with a swimming rabbit on top.

[Gentle music plays]

Ranger Rabbit says, AHA!

Elinor says, WOW. AMAZING, MOM.

Olive says, COOL.

Elinor asks, HEY, DAD, HAVE YOU
EVER WON ANY TROPHIES?

Mr. Rabbit says, NOT YET.

DO THEY GIVE OUT TROPHIES
FOR SILLIEST DAD?

[Mr. Rabbit sings scat]

Mr. Rabbit dances and flops into his chair.

[Laughter]

Ranger Rabbit takes three pairs of goggles out of the duffel bag.

Ranger Rabbit says, HERE WE ARE.

Elinor says, I'M GOING TO SWIM
REALLY FAST, JUST LIKE YOU, MOM.

Ari says, ME, TOO.
FAST AS A FISH.

Olive says, I'M GOING TO SWIM
AS FAST AS TWO FISH IN A FISH RACE.

[Ranger Rabbit chuckles]

Ranger Rabbit says, OKAY, KIDS.

I'M GOING TO GO SWIM IN THE
DEEP PART OF THE LAKE.

YOU STAY IN THE SHALLOW PART.
MR. RABBIT WILL KEEP AN EYE
ON YOU.

[Upbeat music plays]

Mr. Rabbit says, OKAY.
HAVE FUN, KIDS.

Ranger Rabbit, Elinor, Ari and Olive wade into the water. Olive sprays water with her trunk.

[Splashing, cheering]

[Giggling]

Elinor says, OKAY. WHO'S READY
TO SWIM REALLY FAST?

Ari cheers, ME.

Olive says, READY.

Elinor says, ON YOUR MARKS.
GET SET. GO!

[Grunting, splashing, panting, exciting music plays]

Elinor says, HMM.
WE DIDN'T GET VERY FAR.

Ari says, I DON'T THINK WE
WENT VERY FAST, EITHER.

Elinor says, WOW.
LOOK AT MY MOM GO.
SHE SURE IS FAST.

Olive says, SHE'S NOT THE ONLY
SPEEDY SWIMMER. LOOK AT
THESE DUCKS GO.

[Ducks quack]

Elinor asks, HOW DO THEY SWIM
SO FAST? I WISH WE COULD FIND
A WAY TO SPEED UP OUR SWIMMING.

Mr. Rabbit calls, HEY, SPEEDY
SWIMMERS, YOU READY FOR
A SNACK BREAK?

[Cheering, splashing]

Olive and Ari say, THANKS.

Elinor says, THANKS, DAD.

[Ducks quack]

Elinor throws her goggles beside a duck on the shoreline.

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, OOPS. SORRY, DUCK.

OOH. HEY. THIS DUCK'S FEET
ARE SO INTERESTING.

IT HAS THREE TOES, AND THEY'RE
JOINED TOGETHER BY THE SKIN IN
BETWEEN THEM.

WHY DOES THE DUCK HAVE FEET
LIKE THAT?

Mr. Rabbit says, COME HAVE YOUR
SNACK, ELINOR.

Elinor says, COMING.

[Munching]

Elinor says, OLIVE, ARI?

I JUST SAW A DUCK STANDING ON
THE SAND, AND ITS FEET WERE
SO COOL. IT HAD LOTS OF SKIN
BETWEEN ITS TOES.

Ari says, HMM. I'VE GOT
SOMETHING BETWEEN MY TOES,
TOO: AIR.

Elinor says, HMM. SAME HERE.

Olive says, MY TOES ARE TOO SHORT
TO WIGGLE. MAYBE I SHOULD CHECK
THE OTHER FOOT? WHOA!

Olive falls backwards on to a plate. A carrot flies up into the air and lands by a frog.

[Slide whistle]

Olive says, HEY, WHAT ABOUT THAT
FROG? I WONDER IF IT HAS SKIN
BETWEEN ITS TOES.

Elinor says, YES. ITS TOES ARE
JOINED TOGETHER WITH SKIN, TOO.
THAT IS SO INTERESTING. HMM.

I WONDER WHY SOME ANIMALS HAVE
TOES LIKE THAT, AND OTHERS DON'T.

[Upbeat music plays]

She says, WE NEED MORE OBSERVATIONS.
LET'S GO FIND SOME MORE TOES.

YOU TWO LOOK DOWN THERE,
AND I'LL LOOK AROUND HERE.

[Frogs croak, birds chirp]

Olive says, THERE'S A ROBIN.
HMM. LET'S SEE.

ITS TOES AREN'T JOINED BY SKIN.

Elinor says, LOOK. THIS TURTLE'S
TOES ARE JOINED BY SKIN.

[Splash]

Ari shouts, ELINOR, OLIVE?
I FOUND AN ANIMAL WITH REALLY
WEIRD TOES.

Ari looks down at a worm.

[Elinor and Olive giggle, happy music plays]

Olive says, ARI, IT'S A WORM.

Ari says, I KNOW. IT DOESN'T
HAVE ANY TOES AT ALL.

[Giggling]

Elinor says, OKAY.

SOME ANIMALS HAVE SKIN THAT
JOINS THEIR TOES, AND SOME DON'T.
BUT WHY?

Olive says, LET'S MAKE A LIST AND
SEE IF WE CAN FIGURE IT OUT.

Olive uses a stick to draw a chart in the sand. She draws a webbed foot at the top of one column and a foot with toes at the top of the second column.

[Rustling]

Olive says, AH. OKAY.

WHICH ANIMALS HAVE TOES
THAT ARE JOINED BY SKIN?

Elinor says, DUCKS HAVE JOINED TOES.

Ari says, FROGS DO, TOO.

[Rustling, gentle music plays]

Olive says, AND TURTLES. OKAY.

NOW, WHICH ONES DON'T HAVE
TOES JOINED BY SKIN?

Ari says, BATS DON'T.

Elinor adds, AND RABBITS
DON'T EITHER.

Olive says, OR ELEPHANTS.
OR ROBINS.

[Rustling]

Elinor says, OKAY.

SOME ANIMALS HAVE SKIN BETWEEN
THEIR TOES, AND SOME DON'T.

SO, WHAT DO THE ANIMALS WITH
JOINED TOES HAVE IN COMMON?

They all say, HMM.

A thought bubble with drawings of duck, frog and turtle feet appears above Elinor’s head.

[Popping]

Elinor says, OH. DUCKS, FROGS,
AND TURTLES ALL LIVE...

They all say, ...IN THE WATER!

[Rustle, upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, COME ON.
WE NEED MORE OBSERVATIONS.

[Ducks quack]

Elinor says, HERE COME SOME DUCKS.
LET'S DUCK UNDER THE WATER AND
SEE WHAT THEY'RE DOING.

[Inhale, splash, exhale]

Ari says, THOSE DUCKS AREN'T JUST
FLOATING ALONG.

THEY'RE PUSHING THE WATER WITH
THEIR FEET, AND THEY'RE GOING
REALLY FAST. THAT IS SO COOL.

[Frog croaks]

Olive says, I SEE A FROG.
LET'S HOP TO IT.

[Giggling]

[Inhale, splash, exhale]

Olive says, AMAZING.
THAT FROG AND THAT TURTLE ARE
KICKING WITH THEIR TOES, TOO.

Elinor says, THEY'RE USING THEIR
SPECIAL FEET TO SWIM FASTER.

Ari says, I WONDER WHY JOINED
TOES ARE GOOD FOR SWIMMING FAST.

Olive says, DUN-DUN-DUN.
IT'S A SWIMMING MYSTERY.

Ari says, WELL, MY WINGS ARE MADE
OF SKIN, AND THEY HELP ME PUSH
MORE AIR SO I CAN FLY REALLY FAST.

[Splashing, giggling]

Elinor says, MAYBE THESE WATER ANIMALS
HAVE SKIN BETWEEN THEIR TOES
SO THEY CAN PUSH MORE WATER.

Olive says, AND MAYBE PUSHING
MORE WATER MAKES THEM SWIM
FASTER. THAT MUST BE IT.

Elinor says, THAT IS SO INTERESTING.
LET'S GO TELL MY MOM AND DAD.

Elinor says, MOM, DAD?

WE FIGURED OUT SOMETHING
AMAZING ABOUT DUCK FEET.

Mr. Rabbit says, OH? DO TELL.

Olive says, DUCKS HAVE COOL FEET
WITH SKIN BETWEEN THEIR TOES.

Ari says, FROGS AND TURTLES
HAVE THEM, TOO.

Elinor says, WE THINK THAT THEIR
JOINED TOES HELP THEM SWIM
FASTER, BECAUSE IT LETS THEM
PUSH MORE WATER.

[Gentle music plays]

Ranger Rabbit says, YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY
RIGHT, KIDS.

WE CALL THOSE FEET WEBBED FEET.
THE SKIN STRETCHES BETWEEN THEIR
TOES. THAT REMINDS ME.

I HAVE A SPECIAL SURPRISE FOR
YOU IN MY SWIM BAG.

DO YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT IT'S
LIKE TO HAVE WEBBED FEET, TOO?

[Gasps]

Olive says, YEAH.

Elinor says, YES, PLEASE.

Ari says, COOL.

Ranger Rabbit takes a pair of swim fins out of her duffel bag.

She says, HERE THEY ARE.

Olive asks, WHAT ARE THOSE?

Ranger Rabbit says, THESE ARE
CALLED SWIM FINS.

[Children gasp]

Ari says, OH. THEY LOOK LIKE
A DUCK'S FEET. THEY'RE WIDE
AND FLAT.

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, YEAH.

AND THEY LOOK LIKE THEY
HAVE LITTLE TOES.

Olive says, LIKE WEBBED FEET.

Ranger Rabbit says, YES.
AND IF YOU PUT THEM ON YOUR
FEET, YOU CAN PUSH MORE WATER
AND YOU'LL SWIM FASTER.

DO YOU WANT TO GIVE THEM A TRY?

[Gasping]

Elinor says, YES, PLEASE.

Elinor takes the swim fins from her mother. She, Olive and Ari run back to the edge of the water.

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive says, THANK YOU.
CAN I TRY THEM FIRST, ELINOR?

Elinor says, SURE.

Olive puts the swimming fins on her feet.

She says, OKAY. I'M READY TO SWIM
AS FAST AS A FISH. OR AT LEAST AS
FAST AS A DUCK.

[Rustling]

Elinor says, LET'S RACE.

The children run into the water.

[Splashing]

Elinor says, ON YOUR MARKS.
GET SET. GO!

Olive swims past Ari and Elinor.

[Olive giggles]

Olive says, THAT WAS FIN-TASTIC.

Elinor says, WE'VE FIGURED OUT
HOW TO SWIM FAST.

[Energetic music plays]

Olive, Elinor and Ari dance on the shore.

They sing, WANT TO SWIM REAL FAST,
WANT TO FEEL THE SPEED?

SWIM FINS AND WEBBED FEET
THOSE ARE WHAT YOU NEED.

Olive sings, DUCKS, FROGS AND TURTLES
HAVE SKIN BETWEEN THEIR TOES,

[Splash]

Ari sings, THEY HOP INTO THE WATER
AND ZOOM, AWAY THEY GO.

Elinor sings, GET YOURSELF SOME SWIM FINS
PUT THEM ON LIKE SO.

[Splash]

Olive sings, THEN JUMP INTO THE WATER
AND ZOOM, AWAY YOU GO.

Elinor, Ari and Olive sing, WANT
TO SWIM REAL FAST,
WANT TO FEEL THE SPEED?

GET SOME FINS OR WEBBED FEET
THOSE ARE WHAT YOU NEED.

[Birds sing]

Mr. Rabbit says, HEY, KIDS, TIME
TO HEAD HOME.

Elinor says, OKAY, DAD.
WE'RE COMING.

Ranger Rabbit gives each of the children a towel as they leave the water.

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive says, THANK YOU.

Ari says, THANKS.

Elinor says, THANKS, MOM.

Mr. Rabbit asks, HOW WERE THE SWIM FINS?

Olive says, FIN-CREDIBLE.

Ari says, NOW WE CAN ALL SWIM FAST.

Elinor says, IF WE KEEP PRACTISING,
MAYBE WE'LL WIN A TROPHY SOMEDAY.

Mr. Rabbit says, WELL, I HAVE A SPECIAL
SURPRISE FOR YOU.

[Mr. Rabbit chuckles, gentle music plays]

Mr. Rabbit holds three blue ribbons with wooden medallions dangling from them.

Mr. Rabbit says, WHILE YOU WERE
SWIMMING, I MADE THESE PRIZES
FOR THE THREE BEST SWIMMING
QUESTION-ASKERS IN THE
WHOLE TOWN.

Olive says, WOW.

Mr. Rabbit says, YOU'RE THE MOST
CURIOUS KIDS I KNOW.

The children say, THANK YOU.

Mr. Rabbit puts a medallion around each child’s neck.

[Rustling]

Ranger Rabbit asks, NOW, WHO
WANTS TO SEE WHO CAN GET
HOME THE FASTEST?

Elionor says, I THINK WE'VE HAD
ENOUGH SPEED FOR TODAY.

[Olive and Ari yawn]

Elinor asks, CAN WE WALK HOME
LIKE SLOW SNAILS INSTEAD?

Mr. Rabbit says, THAT SOUNDS
MORE MY SPEED.

Ranger Rabbit notices the swim fins on the sand.

[Rustling]

She says, OOPS. WE'LL NEED
THESE FOR NEXT TIME.
GOODBYE, LAKE.

[Ducks quack, splash]

Another day, Koa, Elinor and Olive watch a small green turtle swim in a stream.

[Splash]

Olive says, LOOK AT THE
TURTLE SWIMMING.

Señor Tapir stands behind the children. He holds his acoustic guitar.

Señor Tapir says, INDEED IT IS.

LET'S SING A SONG ABOUT A
SCIENTIST WHO DISCOVERED OTHER
ANIMALS THAT LIVED VERY LONG AGO
AND SWAM WITH THE DINOSAURS.

[Upbeat music plays]

Señor Tapir sings, MARY ANNING LIVED
BY THE SEA IN THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE.

SHE LIKED TO WALK
ALONG THE BEACH,
TO SEE WHAT SHE COULD FIND.

THEN ONE DAY SHE SAW A SKULL
WITH VERY POINTY TEETH,
AND MARY WONDERED WHAT ELSE
WAS BURIED UNDERNEATH.

MARY STARTED DIGGING
TO SEE WHAT SHE'D UNCOVER.

AND AT THE AGE OF TWELVE,
YOU KNOW WHAT SHE DISCOVERED.

AN ICHTHYOSAUR.
AN ANIMAL THAT SWAM
WITH DINOSAURS.

MARY KEPT DIGGING AROUND
AND SHE FOUND,
AMAZING NEW ANIMALS
BURIED IN THE GROUND.

MARY GREW UP AND KEPT
SEARCHING IN THE GROUND,
AND AT THE AGE OF TWENTY-TWO
YOU KNOW WHAT SHE FOUND?

Mary wipes dirt off a rock with a brush.

[Rustling]

Señor Tapir sings, A PLESIOSAUR.
ANOTHER ANIMAL THAT SWAM
WITH DINOSAURS.

[Bubbling]

Señor Tapir sings, MARY KEPT
DIGGING AROUND, AND SHE FOUND
AMAZING NEW ANIMALS BURIED
IN THE GROUND.

Four turtles surface in the stream.

[Splash, children laugh]

Blue text reads, “Strawberry Jam.”

Elinor reads, STRAWBERRY JAM.

Mr. Rabbit naps in a chair by a small purple tent and a large green tent. Ranger Rabbit tends to a pot on a rock.

[Snoring]

Olive and Elinor peek out of the purple tent. They hold colourful paper flowers on craft sticks.

[Relaxing music plays, children giggle]

Elinor asks, READY?

Olive nods.

[Snoring]

Elinor shouts, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY.

Olive shouts, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. RABBIT.

Mr. Rabbit says, WHAT, WHAT?
WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Elinor says, IT'S US.
DID WE SURPRISE YOU?

Mr. Rabbit says, OH, SWEETIE, YOU SURE DID.

Elinor says, GOOD.
WE WANT YOU TO HAVE A REALLY
SPECIAL BIRTHDAY.

Olive says, MM-HMM.
WE MADE THESE OURSELVES,
JUST FOR YOU.

Olive gives the flowers to Mr. Rabbit.

Mr. Rabbit says, THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL.

[Mr. Rabbit sniffs the paper flowers]

Elinor says, AND HERE'S YOUR
BIRTHDAY CARD WE ALSO MADE.

Mr. Rabbit says, OH.

Elinor says, SEE?
IT'S YOU, DOING ALL YOUR
FAVOURITE THINGS.

THIS IS YOU WORKING IN THE
FLOWER GARDEN.

AND THIS IS YOU TAKING CARE
OF FLOWERS IN OUR HOUSE.

AND THIS IS THE TIME WE WENT
LOOKING FOR WILDFLOWER SEEDS.

Ranger Rabbit says, DO I SENSE
A PATTERN HERE?

Olive and Elinor shout, FLOWERS.

Ranger Rabbit gives Mr. Rabbit a purple mug.

Mr. Rabbit says, THANK YOU.
WHAT CAN I SAY?

ELINOR KNOWS HER DAD.

Elinor hugs her father.

Elinor says, OLIVE HELPED.

Olive says, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. RABBIT.

Mr. Rabbit says, THANKS, OLIVE.
I JUST LOVE CAMPING OUT IN
NATURE. AH, IT'S ONE OF MY
FAVOURITE THINGS.

Elinor says, I KNOW SOMETHING
ELSE YOU'D LIKE ON YOUR
BIRTHDAY, DAD: BREAKFAST.

[Upbeat music plays]

Mr. Rabbit says, BREAKFAST?
THAT'S MY OTHER FAVOURITE THING.
HOW DID YOU KNOW?

[Children giggle]

Soon, Ranger Rabbit, Olive and Elinor plate food by the rock.

Ranger Rabbit says, OKAY.
YOU GIRLS ARE IN CHARGE OF
PUTTING JAM ON THE TOAST.

Elinor says, THAT'S THE BEST PART.

Olive picks up a jam jar and tips it over her head.

[Scraping]

Olive says, UH-OH.
THE JAM JAR IS EMPTY.

[Harmonica plays]

Elinor says, WHAT?
NO STRAWBERRY JAM?

THAT'S DAD'S FAVOURITE THING
TO PUT ON HIS TOAST.

MOM, WE HAVE TO GO TO THE STORE
RIGHT NOW AND GET SOME MORE JAM.

Ranger Rabbit says, SORRY, SWEETIE.
THERE'S NO STORE OUT HERE IN
THE FOREST.

Mr. Rabbit says, DON'T WORRY, ELINOR.
I DON'T NEED JAM ON MY TOAST.
I'LL JUST EAT IT PLAIN.

[Mr. Rabbit muncing, gulps, Elinor sighs]

Later, Elinor and Olive wash dishes in a large pan.

Elinor says, DAD LOVES
STRAWBERRY JAM ON HIS TOAST.

[Sighs]

She says, I WISH HE COULD
HAVE SOME FOR HIS BIRTHDAY.

Olive says, I KNOW, BUT WHAT CAN WE DO?

[Splash]

Ranger Rabbit says, HMM.
I HAVE AN IDEA.

WHY DON'T WE MAKE SOME

Elinor asks, YOU CAN MAKE JAM?

[Upbeat music plays]

Ranger Rabbit says, SURE.
EVEN THE JAM YOU BUY IN THE
STORE IS MADE BY SOMEONE.

FIRST, WE NEED SOME STRAWBERRIES.

Olive asks, BUT WHERE ARE WE
GOING TO GET THE STRAWBERRIES
IF WE CAN'T GO TO THE STORE?

Range Rabbit says, WELL, IT'S
STRAWBERRY SEASON,

SO THERE SHOULD BE WILD
STRAWBERRIES GROWING
ALL AROUND.

Olive asks, REALLY?

[Upbeat music plays]

Ranger Rabbit says, YEP.
I SAW A STRAWBERRY PATCH IN
THE FIELDS RIGHT BESIDE US.

YOU KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK
LIKE, RIGHT?

[Clink]

Elinor says, SURE.
BIG AND RED AND JUICY.

Ranger Rabbit says, RIGHT.
WHY DON'T YOU GIRLS GO SEE
IF YOU CAN FIND SOME STRAWBERRIES?

I'LL TELL DAD TO WATCH THE
CAMPFIRE, AND MEET YOU IN THE
FIELD IN A MINUTE.

[Upbeat music plays]

Olive and Elinor cheer, YAY!

Ranger Rabbit says, NOW, REMEMBER,
YOU CAN'T EAT BERRIES YOU FIND
WITHOUT AN ADULT THERE.

Elinor says, GOT IT.

Ranger Rabbit says, OFF YOU GO.

Olive says, BYE.

Olive and Elinor run to a grassy field.

Olive says, THIS IS WHERE YOUR
MOM SAID THERE MIGHT
BE STRAWBERRIES.

Elinor says, LET'S FIND THEM.
NO STRAWBERRIES HERE.

[Birds chirp]

Olive says, OOH, LOOK AT THESE, ELINOR.

FLOWERS. OH, WAIT.
WHAT IS THIS? BERRIES!
COULD THEY BE STRAWBERRIES?

Elinor and Olive look at white berries.

Elinor says, I'M NOT SURE.

THEY HAVE THE SAME SHAPE
AS STRAWBERRIES. AND THEY HAVE
THE SAME SEEDS AS STRAWBERRIES.

Olive says, BUT THEY'RE SMALL
AND WHITE. OOH.
ARE THESE STRAWBERRIES?

Elinor says, MAYBE.

BUT THESE ARE GREEN AND EVEN
SMALLER. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF
GREEN STRAWBERRIES.

[Elinor gasps]

Elinor walks to a strawberry plant.

[Happy music plays]

She says, NOW, THESE ARE STRAWBERRIES.

Olive says, YEP. THEY'RE SHAPED
LIKE STRAWBERRIES AND THEY'RE
BIG AND RED.

Elinor says, BUT WAIT.
WHAT ABOUT THE GREEN AND
WHITE BERRIES WE FOUND?
WHAT ARE THOSE?

Olive says, I'M NOT SURE.
COULD THEY BE STRAWBERRIES, TOO?

Elinor says, I DON'T KNOW.

Olive says, DUN-DUN-DUN.
SOUNDS LIKE A STRAWBERRY MYSTERY.

Elinor says, WE NEED
MORE OBSERVATIONS.

Olive says, OKAY. LET'S SEE. FIRST,
WE FOUND THESE WHITE STRAWBERRIES.

Elinor says, THEN WE FOUND
THE SMALL GREEN ONES.

Olive says, THEN WE FOUND THE RED ONES.

Elinor says, THEY'RE ALL THE SAME
STRAWBERRY SHAPE.

A thought bubble above Elinor and Olive shows the three types of berries.

[Popping]

Olvie says, BUT THEY'RE DIFFERENT
COLOURS AND SIZES. WHY IS THAT?

Elinor says, HMM.
MAYBE SOMEONE PAINTED THEM
DIFFERENT COLOURS. LIKE A
BERRY FAIRY.

In a thought bubble, Elinor imagines a small fairy painting a strawberry red.

[Popping, Olive giggles]

Olvie asks, BUT WHY ARE THEY
DIFFERENT SIZES?

A though bubble appears above Elinor’s head, showing a green, white and red berry.

[Popping, gentle music plays]

Elinor says, WAIT.
IF YOU LOOK AT THE STRAWBERRIES
LIKE THIS...GREEN, WHITE, RED.
IT'S LIKE THE STRAWBERRY IS
GETTING BIGGER.

Olive says, LIKE IT'S GROWING.

Elinor says, YES.
MAYBE THE GREEN STRAWBERRY IS
LIKE A BABY STRAWBERRY, AND AS
IT GROWS, IT CHANGES COLOUR.

[Gasps]

Olive says, I THINK YOU COULD
BE RIGHT, ELINOR.

Ranger Rabbit says, HI, KIDS.

Elinor says, MOM, WE FOUND STRAWBERRIES.

Olive says, AT LEAST WE THINK
THEY'RE ALL STRAWBERRIES.
THAT'S WHAT WE OBSERVED.

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor says, SEE?
THE SMALL ONES ARE GREEN, AND
THE MEDIUM-SIZED ONES ARE
WHITE, AND THE BIG ONES ARE RED.

Olive says, WE THINK MAYBE THE
STRAWBERRIES CHANGE THEIR
COLOUR AS THEY GROW.

Ranger Rabbit says, GREAT THINKING,
SCIENTISTS. STRAWBERRIES JUST
DON'T JUST SHOW UP BIG AND RED.

White flowers appear in a thought bubble over Ranger Rabbit’s head.

[Popping, birds chirp]

She continues, THEY START AS FLOWERS,
AND THEN THEY TURN INTO SMALL
BERRIES THAT GROW AND CHANGE
COLOUR OVER TIME.

Olive says, REALLY? THE WHITE FLOWERS
CHANGE INTO STRAWBERRIES?

Ranger Rabbit says, YEP.

Elinor says, THAT IS SO INTERESTING.

Olive says, RANGER RABBIT, IF THESE
ARE ALL STRAWBERRIES, CAN WE USE
ALL OF THEM TO MAKE JAM?

Ranger Rabbit says, GOOD QUESTION,
OLIVE. DO YOU THINK THEY ALL TASTE
THE SAME?

Olive says, I THINK THEY SHOULD,
BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL STRAWBERRIES.
BUT I'M NOT SURE.

Elinor says, OOH.
WE SHOULD TASTE THEM.

[Olive gasps]

Elinor asks, CAN WE, MOM?

[Upbeat music plays]

Ranger Rabbit says, YOU SURE CAN,
AND I'M REALLY GLAD YOU ASKED.

REMEMBER, YOU CAN'T EAT WILD
BERRIES WITHOUT CHECKING WITH
AN ADULT TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE
SAFE TO EAT.

[Rustling]

Elinor says, OKAY.

THE GREEN ONES FEEL VERY HARD.
I CAN'T TELL WHAT IT TASTES LIKE.
IT'S TOO HARD TO BITE.

[Crunch, rustling]

Olive says, THE WHITE ONES ARE A
LITTLE SOFTER, AND...

[Munch, Olive trumpets with trunk]

Olive says,...BOY, ARE THEY SOUR.

[Munching]

Elinor says, REALLY SOUR.

[Birds chirp, Olive and Elinor laugh]

Elinor says, THE RED ONE IS NICE
AND SOFT.

[Sniffs a berry]

Elinor says, IT REALLY SMELLS LIKE
A STRAWBERRY, AND IT TASTES--MMM.

[Munching]

Olive says, SO YUMMY.

Elinor says, IT'S NOT JUST THE SIZE
AND COLOUR THAT CHANGES WHEN
STRAWBERRIES GROW.

THE TASTE CHANGES, TOO.

Ranger Rabbit says, NICE OBSERVATION.
STRAWBERRIES TURN RED AND JUICY
AND SWEET AS THEY GROW.

WHEN THEY'RE RED AND SWEET,
WE SAY THAT THEY ARE RIPE.

MOST FRUITS ARE NOT READY TO
PICK UNTIL THEY ARE RIPE.

Elinor says, "RIPE" MEANS IT'S READY
TO EAT.

Elinor eats a strawberry.

[Munching]

Olive says, HMM. RIPE.
I LIKE THAT WORD.

Ranger Rabbit says, IT IS A GOOD
WORD. NOW, WHY DON'T YOU PICK
A BIG BASKET OF RED, RIPE
STRAWBERRIES, AND THEN WE'LL
MAKE SOME JAM FOR DAD'S BIRTHDAY?

Olive and Elinor cheer, YAY!

Olive and Elinor pick red strawberries.

[Upbeat rock music plays]

Back at the campsite, Ranger Rabbit dumps a basket of strawberries into a pan of water. She takes them out of the water and places them into a bowl.

[Splashing]

Ranger Rabbit says, OKAY.
FIRST STEP IS TO SQUISH THE
STRAWBERRIES. SQUISH
AWAY, GIRLS.

[Humming, munching]

Elinor says, HMM.
THESE SQUISHED STRAWBERRIES ARE
YUMMY, BUT THEY DON'T TASTE
LIKE JAM YET.

Olive tries the squished strawberries.

[Munching]

Olive says, THE JAM FROM THE
JAR IS JAMMIER.

Ranger Rabbit says, THAT'S BECAUSE
WE'RE NOT DONE YET.

TO MAKE OUR JAM THICKER AND
SWEETER, WE HAVE TO ADD SOME
SUGAR AND THEN COOK IT ON
THE STOVE.

Elinor says, OOH.

Olive says, WOW.
MAKING JAM IS SO MUCH FUN.

[Upbeat music plays]

Elinor and Olive sing, STRAWBERRY JAM,
STRAWBERRY JAM,
WE'RE GOING TO MAKE
SOME STRAWBERRY JAM.

WE'LL SQUISH UP THE BERRIES
AND COOK THEM ON THE STOVE.
DAD IS GOING TO LOVE
OUR STRAWBERRY JAM.

Olive sings, FRUIT STARTS OUT
SMALL AND HARD,
THEN IT GROWS AND GETS
SOFT AND SWEET.

[Whoosh]

Elinor sings, WHEN IT'S NICE AND BIG AND JUICY,
THEN IT'S RIPE AND READY TO EAT.

[Munch]

Elinor and Olive sing, STRAWBERRY JAM,
STRAWBERRY JAM,
WE'RE GOING TO MAKE
SOME STRAWBERRY JAM.

WE'LL SQUISH UP THE BERRIES
AND COOK THEM IN A CAN.
DAD IS GOING TO LOVE
OUR STRAWBERRY JAM.

STRAWBERRIES START
AS FLOWERS SO BRIGHT,
THAT TURN INTO BERRIES DELISH.

[Pop, whoosh]

Elinor and Olive sing, SMALL GREEN BERRIES
GROW BIG AND WHITE,
WHEN THEY'RE RED
THEY'RE READY TO SQUISH.

WOO-HOO!

STRAWBERRY JAM,
STRAWBERRY JAM,

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE

SOME STRAWBERRY JAM.

WE'LL SQUISH UP THE BERRIES
AND COOK THEM ON THE STOVE.

[Splash]

Elinor and Olive sing, DAD IS GOING
TO LOVE OUR STRAWBERRY JAM.

Ranger Rabbit says, MMM.
I THINK THIS IS READY.
WHAT DO YOU GIRLS THINK?

[Slurping]

Olive and Elinor say, MMM!

Elinor says, NOW, THAT IS YUMMY
STRAWBERRY JAM.

Elinor holds a jar. Olive fills it with strawberry jam. They spread jam on toast.

[Clinking, upbeat music plays, scraping]

Mr. Rabbit naps in a hammock.

[Snoring]

Elinor shouts, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY.

Olive shouts, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. RABBIT.

Mr. Rabbit startles and the hammock spins. He falls on the grass.

[Boing]

Mr. Rabbit says, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!

[Elinor, Olive and Ranger Rabbit giggle]

Elinor says, LOOK.

Olive says, WE MADE YOU SOME JAM.

[Mr. Rabbit gasps]

Mr. Rabbit says, WHAT?
YOU MADE THIS?

Elinor says, YEP.

OLIVE AND I FOUND STRAWBERRIES
IN A STRAWBERRY PATCH.

Olive says, AND THEN WE SQUISHED
UP THE RED BERRIES, AND COOKED
THEM INTO JAM.

Mr. Rabbit says, THANK YOU.

[Crunch, munching]

Elinor asks, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Mr. Rabbit enthusiastically says, MMM.
THIS IS DELICIOUS!

Elinor says, THANKS, DAD.

Mr. Rabbit says, I THINK THIS IS
THE "BERRY" BEST BIRTHDAY I'VE
EVER HAD.

GET IT? "BERRY" BEST?

[Everyone laughs]

[Upbeat music plays]
