(Whistling)

Messy, a furry blue monster with a small red nose, whistles. A white and blue convertible car rolls out of a dome-shaped garage. Messy jumps in the car and presses a green button on the dashboard.

He says,
LET'S SKIDOODLE, OKIDOODLE!

Singers sing,
MESSY GOES TO OKIDO.

Messy speed through the green hilly countryside. Trees run across the street.

Messy sings,
FIND OUT WHAT
YOU WANT TO KNOW
LET'S ALL GO TO OKIDO.

Messy travels toward OKIDO, a large city with tall colourful buildings. He drives onto a loop the loop and underwater.

Messy sings,
OKIDO, OKIDO
MESSY GOES TO OKIDO
ALL THE THINGS
YOU WANT TO KNOW
COME ALONG AND SAY HELLO
LET'S GO SEE OUR FRIENDS.

Messy gets out of his car and goes into a domed house. Inside, Felix packs his backpack. Felix, a blue-haired boy, wears a blue and white striped shirt and a blue toque with a pompom.

Messy shouts, FELIX!

The singers sing, IN OKIDO.

Messy high-fives Zoe. Zoe, a red-haired girl, wears a red dress with a white t-shirt and a red beret.

Messy shouts, ZOE!

The singers sing,
IN OKIDO

Messy shouts, ZIM, ZAM, ZOOM!

Zim, Zam, and Zoom appear. Zim has a yellow square body and a computer screen face while Zam is a green triangle and Zoom is a floating pink creature with a circular head.

The singers sing,
IN OKIDO
BA-BA-LA-LA BOOM-BOOM!

Later, Messy dances down a street in OKIDO.

The singers sing,
MESSY GOES TO OKIDO
LET'S ALL GO TO OKIDO
FIND OUT WHAT
YOU NEED TO KNOW
MESSY GOES TO OKIDO.

Messy looks through a magnifying glass.

A sign in the street reads, “Messy goes to OKIDO”.

A half-opened door leads to a bedroom.

The episode title reads, “Felix Finds His Voice. Written by Dan Berlinka and Sean Carson”.

(Snoring)

The door swings open. Inside, Messy sleeps under the bed alongside piles of clothes. A green sock lies over Messy’s eyes.

(Birds chirping)

Messy wakes up and tosses the sock onto the floor.

He says, HUH?

(Chirping continues)

Messy asks,
WHO'S MAKING ALL THAT NOISE
FIRST THING IN THE MORNING?

He looks out the window. An orange and white bird chirps in a tree.

Messy says,
OH, IT'S YOU!
HELLO, BIRDIE.
SORRY.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
CAN YOU SING SLOWER?

The bird continues to chirp.

Messy says,
I DON'T GET IT.
WHAT'S THE POINT OF SINGING A
SONG WITH NO WORDS?
WHEN YOU NEED TO KNOW, GO TO
OKIDO.

Messy travels through a green and white tunnel. He appears in OKIDO.

Messy says,
WOO-HOO-HOO!
WHEE-HEE-HEE!

He bounces off a trampoline and lands in front steps of a house.

(Doorbell ringing)

Zoe opens the door.

Messy says,
DING-DONG, DING-DONG!

Zoe replies, HELLO, MESSY.

(Croaking, coughing)

Felix waves to Messy.

Messy asks, WHAT'S UP WITH FELIX?

Zoe answers, HE'S LOST HIS VOICE.

Messy looks inside Felix’s mouth.

Messy says,
OOH, LET ME SEE.
AH, YOU'RE RIGHT.
THERE'S NOTHING THERE EXCEPT
TEETH.
OOH, AND IS THAT A BIT OF A
SANDWICH?

Zoe adds,
AND WE'VE GOT TO SING A SONG
AT THE FARM FESTIVAL TODAY.
EVERYONE'S GOING TO BE THERE.

Messy asks,
SO, YOU CAN'T TALK OR SING?

(Whining)

Felix holds his throat and shakes his head.

Zoe says,
ALL HE CAN DO IS SAY YES OR
NO, BY NODDING OR SHAKING HIS
HEAD.

Felix nods.

Messy replies,
THEN HOW WOULD HE SAY, "I WANT A
BANANA SPLIT WITH CHERRIES ON
TOP SERVED INSIDE AN OLD SOCK"?

Zoe says,
I DON'T THINK HE'D EVER NEED
TO SAY THAT.

Messy turns to Felix and holds up a finger.

Messy says,
WE HAVE TO GET YOUR VOICE
BACK.
BUT WHERE'S IT GONE?
HMM.
IF FELIX HAS LOST HIS VOICE,
THEN LET'S TRY AND FIND IT.
COME ON.
VOICEY-VOICEY-VOICEY?
HERE, VOICEY-VOICEY.
HERE, VOICE.
HERE, VOICE.
GOOD BOY.
COME ON, VOICEY.
VOICEY?

Messy looks around the front yard of the house.

Zoe says,
I'M NOT SURE YOU CAN SEE A
VOICE, MESSY.

Messy replies,
HMM.
MAYBE YOU'RE RIGHT.
BUT WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAR
IT.

(Horn honking)

(Birds chirping)

Two yellow birds are perched in a tree.

(Jackhammer pounding)

A robot construction worker wearing a yellow helmet jackhammers a road in the city centre.

Yellow, green, pink, and purple furry creatures are led by a conductor in a choir.

The creatures sing,
OKIDO, OKIDO, OKIDO.

(Cow mooing)

A cow moos in a farmer’s field.

Messy says,
I CAN HEAR LOTS OF VOICES.

(Sheep bleating)

Messy adds,
MAYBE ONE OF THEM IS FELIX'S.
COME ON.
MAYBE ONE OF THE FARM ANIMALS
HAS HEARD YOUR VOICE, FELIX.

Messy hops a fence and runs over to the cow.

He says,
EXCUSE ME.
HAVE YOU HEARD FELIX'S VOICE?

(Lowing)

The cow’s moo knocks Messy knocks back into Zoe and Felix. They fall to the ground.

Zoe says,
OH!
WE'RE NEVER GOING TO FIND IT.

(Bird chirping)

A grey ship in the shape of a bug flies across the sky.

Messy says, OOH!

Messy, Zoe, and Felix wave their arms and hop up and down.

Messy says, ZIM, ZAM?

Zoe adds, ZOOM?

Messy shouts, HERE!

The ship stops.

Zoe says,
OH, I DON'T THINK THEY CAN
HEAR US.

The ship lands on a farm. Messy, Zoe, and Felix run to it.

Inside, Zim, Zam, and Zoom stand around a table.

Zam says,
I TOLD YOU IT WAS LEFT
AT THE GARAGE BUT, NO, YOU KNOW
BEST.

Messy, Zoe, and Felix enter the ship.

Zoe says,
ZIM, ZAM, WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Messy shouts,
FELIX HAS LOST HIS VOICE!

Zam replies,
HAS HE?
THAT'S VERY CARELESS.

Zim says,
HMM.
LET'S HAVE A LOOK.

Zim, Zam, and Zoom look inside Felix’s mouth.

Zam says,
AH, YES.

Zim adds,
WELL, I SEE.
AH, WELL, IT'S GONE, ALL RIGHT.

Zoe asks,
WHAT CAN WE DO?
HOW COULD HE LOSE A VOICE?

Zam answers,
OH, WELL, THERE'S LOTS OF
WAYS TO LOSE A VOICE.
IT COULD BE FROM CATCHING A COLD
OR GETTING A SORE THROAT, OR
FROM SHOUTING TOO MUCH.
IT WON'T BE LOST FOREVER.
IT'S ALL TO DO WITH WHAT HAPPENS
HERE.
THE AIR...
OH.
...PASSES THROUGH THE VOCAL
CORDS AND VOICE BOX HERE...

Zim and Zam show Messy, Zoe, and Felix the inside of a throat on a screen.

Zim adds,
...MAKING A NOISE AS IT
PASSES THROUGH, AS THE VOCAL
CORDS VIBRATE.
AND THESE NOISES CAN BE MADE
INTO SOUNDS, LIKE WORDS, IF
YOU'RE A HUMAN BEING.

A person says, HELLO!

Zam says,
OR BARKS IF YOU'RE A DOG.

(Barking)

A brown dog licks Zim’s computer face.

Zim says,
EVERYONE'S VOICE BOXES AND
VOCAL CORDS ARE SLIGHTLY
DIFFERENT, WHICH IS WHY WE ALL
HAVE DIFFERENT VOICES.

Messy replies,
OKAY, BUT CAN YOU HELP FELIX
GET HIS BOX OF VOICE BACK,
PRETTY PLEASE?

Zam says,
FELIX'S VOCAL CORDS ARE
SWOLLEN, SO THE AIR CAN'T MAKE
THEM VIBRATE AS EASILY, WHICH
IS WHY HE'S LOST HIS VOICE.
IT'LL COME BACK BY ITSELF AFTER
A WHILE.

Zoe asks,
OH, BUT IS THERE ANY WAY YOU
CAN HELP TO SPEED IT UP?
WE PROMISED TO SING OUR SONG.

(Indistinct chattering)

Zim, Zam, and Zoom huddle and talk to each other.

Zam says,
YES, WE CAN.
FOR I SHALL BUILD...

(Drum roll sounding)

Zoom turns into a drum and drumsticks. He plays himself.

Zam continues,
...THE MAKE THE VOICE COME BACK
SOONER MACHINE.

Messy and Zoe cheer,
HOORAY!

Outside, Zim, Zam, and Zoom build the make the voice come back
sooner machine. It is a square box connected to three large megaphones.

Messy asks, IS IT READY YET?

Zim replies,
NOT YET.
YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT.

Messy says,
OKAY.
IS IT READY NOW?

Zam answers, NO!

Messy asks, HOW ABOUT NOW?

Zam replies, PATIENCE, MESSY.

Messy asks, WHAT ABOUT NOW?

Zam says,
WE STILL NEED TO PUT ON THE
START BUTTON.

Zim holds up a red button. Messy looks excited.

He says, BUTTON!

Zim says,
BUT WE ONLY PRESS
"START" AFTER WE GIVE THE VOICE
COMMAND INTO THE MICROPHONE
HERE.

Zam adds,
I DREAD TO THINK WHAT
WOULD HAPPEN IF IT GOT PRESSED
BEFORE WE WERE READY.

Zim installs the button. Messy stares at it.

Zim says,
THE VOICE COMMAND WILL
BE SOMETHING LIKE--

Messy says,
BUTTON.
BUTTON!
MUST PUSH BUTTON.
I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER!

Messy runs to the machine.

Zim shouts, NO!

Zam says, IT'S NOT READY.

Zim stouts, STOP!

Messy leaps in the air with his finger pointed at the button. He presses it.

(Machine beeping)

The machine rattles and the ground shakes.

(Lowing)

(Bleating)

The sheep and cows in the field look up.

In the city centre, people stop what they are doing.

(Quacking)

The choir stops singing.

(Parts clanking)

A sound wave rises over the city centre. The machine explodes. Zoe rubs her ear while Messy sits up and smiles.

Felix stands up.

He says,
TESTING, ONE, TWO.
HOORAY!
I'VE GOT MY VOICE BACK.
WE CAN SING OUR SONG NOW.

(Barking, bleating, quacking)

Messy, Zoe, Zim, and Zam cheer with their new animal voices.

(Laughing)

Felix says,
OH, VERY FUNNY, BUT STOP MESSING
ABOUT, ZOE.
WE HAVE TO SING OUR SONG AT THE
FESTIVAL.

(Bleating like a sheep)

Zoe bleats and then covers her mouth.

(Bird snorting like a pig)

A yellow bird is perched in a tree.

Felix asks, WHAT'S GOING ON?

A group of four geese wades in a pond.

They sing, OKIDO, OKIDO, OKIDO

A donkey says,
BA-LA-BA-LA BOOM-BOOM!

(Sheep barking like dogs)

Sheep chase each other across the farm.

(Quacking)

The choir sings like ducks.

A cow grazes on the farm.

In Zoe's voice, it says,
I COULD EAT GRASS ALL DAY.

Zoe bleats like a sheep.

Felix says,
OH, NO!
MESSY PRESSED "START" BEFORE THE
MACHINE WAS FINISHED, AND NOW
EVERYONE'S VOICES HAVE GOT MIXED
UP.

Messy makes a donkey sound. He tries to fix the machine.

Zam barks like a dog. She looks angry while she works on the machine with a wrench.

Zim holds up a microphone. He clucks like a chicken.

Felix says,
OH, I DON'T UNDERSTAND, ZIM.
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL ME?

(Clucking)

Felix asks,
THE VOICE COMMAND?
YOU WANT ME TO GIVE THE VOICE
COMMAND TO MAKE EVERYTHING
RIGHT AGAIN?
BUT WHAT IS THE VOICE COMMAND?

(Clucking)

Felix replies,
OH, I CAN'T SPEAK CHICKEN.

(Clucking)

Zim drops the microphone.

Felix says,
WAIT.
WE CAN DO IT LIKE A GUESSING
GAME.

(Clucking)

Felix asks, HOW MANY WORDS?

(Clucking)

Zim holds up four fingers.

Felix counts,
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR.
FOUR WORDS?

(Clucking)

Felix says,
FIRST WORD.
UM, POINT?

(Clucking)

Zim points at the machine.

Felix says, MACHINE?

(Clucking)

Zim nods.

Felix says, SECOND WORD.

(Clucking)

Zim turns away from Felix.

Felix says, LEAVE?

(Clucking)

Zim points to Zoom who floats toward Felix.

Felix says, RETURN?

(Clucking)

Zim nods.

(Barking)

Zam holds up three fingers.

Felix says,
THIRD WORD.
ZOE?
MESSY?
EVERYONE!

(Barking)

Zam nods.

Felix says, FOURTH WORD.

(Clucking)

Zim points at his mouth.

Felix says,
MOUTH?
FOOD?
HUNGRY?
OH, I'VE GOT IT!
VOICE!

(Clucking)

Zim flaps his arms.

Felix picks up the microphone.

He says,
FOUR WORDS.
MACHINE, RETURN EVERYONE'S
VOICE.

(Whirring)

The machine rumble. There is a flash of light and smoke fills the air.

Zim asks,
HAS IT WORKED?
OH, YES!
YES, IT'S WORKED!

Everyone cheers, HOORAY!

Zoe says, WE'RE BACK.

Felix adds,
AND MY VOICE IS STILL HERE.
SO, EVERYTHING'S BACK TO NORMAL.

Messy brays like a donkey.

(Giggling)

Messy says, JUST KIDDING.

(Everyone laughing)

Zim closes up the machine.

He says,
OOH.
I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD USE THIS
AGAIN.

Felix replies,
IT WAS STRANGE TRYING TO
UNDERSTAND ALL THE ANIMAL
VOICES.
EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE NO WORDS,
I KNEW YOU WERE TRYING TO TELL
ME SOMETHING.

Zim says,
THAT'S RIGHT, FELIX.
AND THOSE NOISES MEAN SOMETHING
TO THE ANIMALS.
THEY UNDERSTAND THEM.

A cat appears on Zoom’s monitor.

Zam says,
CATS MEOW TO LET YOU
KNOW THEY'RE HUNGRY OR HAPPY.

(Meowing)

Zim adds,
DOGS BARK AS A WARNING,
OR TO SCARE OFF ENEMIES.

(Barking)

The dog chases the cat out of the house.

A farmer drives a tractor over a grassy hill.

Zim says,
SHEEP BAA TO LET THEIR LITTLE
ONES KNOW WHERE THEY ARE.

(Bleating)

A small sheep is found in a tree.

Messy adds,
AND MESSIES GO,
"BA-LA-BA-LA-BA-LA BOOM-BOOM!"
BECAUSE IT'S FUN.

Zoe says,
COME ON, FELIX.
WE NEED TO GET TO THE FARM
FESTIVAL.
WE'VE GOT A SONG TO SING.

Messy, Zoe, Felix, Zim, Zam, and Zoom hurry to the Farm Festival.

Later, at the festival, the choir sways while Messy, Felix, and Zoe stand on a stage.

The choir sings,
OKIDO, OKIDO, OKIDO.

Zoe sings,
OLD MACDONALD HAD A FARM.

Felix sings, EE-AYE-EE-AYE-OH.

Zoe sings,
AND ON HIS FARM
HE HAD SOME COWS.

Felix sings, EE-AYE-EE-AYE-OH.

Zoe sings, WITH A...

(Mooing)

The cow's moo blows Messy, Zoe, and Felix off the stage.

Messy gets up.

He says,
SINGING!
THAT REMINDS ME WHY I CAME HERE:
TO FIND OUT WHY BIRDS SING, AND
I THINK I KNOW THE ANSWER.

(Bird chirping)

A bird lands on a tree branch.

Messy says,
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.
SEE YOU NEXT TIME.
BYE.

Zoe, Felix, Zim, Zam, and Zoom wave.

They say, BYE!

Messy returns to the bedroom and looks out the window at the chirping bird.

(Bird chirping)

Messy says,
HELLO, BIRDIE.
I KNOW WHY YOU SING NOW.
IT'S THE WAY YOU BIRDS TALK TO
EACH OTHER.
SHE'S SAYING, "I'M HUNGRY.
I NEED TO FIND SOME WORMS."
AND THAT MEANS MESSY'S HUNGRY,
TOO.
HA-HA.

Messy chews on a sock.

Messy sings,
BA-LA-BA-LA BOOM-BOOM.
