[Playful orchestral music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In an animation, Posy, a brown-haired mouse, steps forward.
POSY: Pip!
DESCRIPTION: Pip, a grey-haired rabbit, steps forward.
PIP: Posy!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy grab each other’s hands and dance together. Pip wears a long-sleeved white-and-green striped shirt and jeans. Posy wears a blue-and-red T-shirt with a blue-and-white polka-dot skirt. Pip carries Posy on his back. Posy tosses her toy frog, Froggy, high in the air. She catches Froggy as Pip’s toy pig, Piggy, lands in Pip’s hand.
PIP: Oh!
[Both giggle]
POSY: Come on!
BOTH SAY: Let’s play!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run together.
[Title] Pip and Posy.
[Happy music plays, Pip giggles, hands pat]
DESCRIPTION: In the playground beside the playing spot, Pip and Posy sit on a park bench with an open lunch box between them. Pip pats his tummy.
PIP: Yummy in my tummy. Snack time's over. What are we gonna play?
[Posy grunts, trash rustles, Posy gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Posy stands and throws an apple core into a garbage bin.
POSY: Hmm. Whoa! Look how long my shadow is.
[Pip gasps]
PIP: Oh, yeah. Mine, too. Hi, Shadow!
[Pip gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip waves and his shadow waves at the same time.
PIP: It waved back!
[Both giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Posy waves.
POSY SINGS: Woo-hoo.
DESCRIPTION: Pip stands on one foot with his arms raised and looks at his shadow.
PIP: I've got the coolest shadow!
DESCRIPTION: Posy wiggles her hips and looks at her shadow.
POSY: Well, my shadow's the funniest.
[Both laugh, stomps thump]
DESCRIPTION: Posy stomps
POSY: And the stompiest.
[Stomps thump]
DESCRIPTION: Both stomp.
BOTH: Stomp-stomp-stomp!
[Posy giggles, Pip gasps, laughs, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: They stomp on a dirt path, and Posy steps on Pip’s shadow.
PIP: Oh! You're standing on my shadow. Can't move.
[Both giggle]
POSY: Oops. Sorry.
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: Posy jumps off Pip’s shadow, and he staggers backwards.
POSY: Whoop!
PIP: Whoa!
[Both laugh, Posy gasps]
POSY: I know. Let's play shadow stompers. If you stomp on someone's shadow, you shout, um...
PIP SINGS: I stomped your shadow.
[Both giggle, stomps thump]
DESCRIPTION: Pip stomps.
PIP SINGS: Stomp-a-stamp-a-stomp.
[Both giggle]
POSY: And you become the shadow king.
[Both giggle]
POSY: You get a crown and everything!
PIP: Let's play on the grass. Bet I stomp you first.
[Upbeat music plays, grass rustles]
POSY SINGS: No, you won't.
DESCRIPTION: They run onto the grass by a slide and stand facing each other.
BOTH: Ready? Three, two, one, shadow stomp!
[Both giggle, shout, grass rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run. Posy chases Pip, and then he turns and chases her. Posy turns and chases Pip.
POSY: I'm going to catch you!
PIP: No, you won't. Can't catch me.
[Dirt rustles, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a garden, Jamila digs a hole.
JAMILA: Oh, hello, Jemima. You look tired. Do you want a little rest on this?
DESCRIPTION: Jemima flutters to a dirty hand trowel in Jamila’s hand, then flies away.
JAMILA: Hmm. Too muddy.
[Pip and Posy shout, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip chases Posey towards Jamila.
JAMILA: Hi.
POSY: Hi, Jamila.
DESCRIPTION: Posy stops and waves at Jamila.
PIP: Ha!
[Rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip jumps on Posy’s shadow.
PIP SINGS: I stomped your shadow. Stomp-a-stamp-a-stomp.
POSY: Oh.
[Posy giggles]
PIP: Hey, Jamila. I'm the shadow king.
JAMILA: Oh. Um, well done.
DESCRIPTION: Jamila shrugs a Jemima
JAMILA: Hmm.
[Pip imitates a trumpet fanfare]
PIP: I'm the winner. Look how shiny my crown is.
POSY: It won't be your crown for long. I want it!
[Lively music plays, grass rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Posy chases Pip.
PIP: No! Hey. I wasn't ready.
[Both shout, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip stops by the flowers at the edge of the garden, and Posy stops behind him.
PIP: Ah.
POSY: Oof.
PIP: Oh, did you get me?
POSY: Um, yes.
[Stomps thump]
DESCRIPTION: Posy jumps on Pip’s shadow and stomps.
POSY SINGS: I stomped your shadow. Stomp-a-stamp-a-stomp.
[The music stops]
PIP: Aw. Here's your crown.
[Posy giggles]
POSY: Yay!
POSY SINGS: I'm the shadow king.
[Both giggle, lively music plays]
PIP: You have but one lucky win. Won't happen again.
[Both shout, giggle, lively music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Pip chases Posy, and she runs around a tree.
PIP: Aw. So close.
DESCRIPTION: Posy turns and chases Pip.
POSY: Now, I'm coming to get you.
[Both shout, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila watches from the garden as Posy jumps towards Pip’s shadow and misses.
[Stomps thump]
POSY SINGS: I stomped your shadow. Stomp-a-stamp-a-stomp.
PIP: Oh. But you're not on my shadow.
[The music stops]
POSY: Um, well, that's because you didn't stop straight away.
PIP: What? But—Okay.
POSY SINGS: I'm still the shadow king.
PIP: Not for long.
[Livley music plays, both shout, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip chases Posy.
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the garden, Jemima flutters to Jamila, and Jamila gestures at daisies.
JAMILA: How about a little rest here?
[Wings flap, bird sings]
DESCRIPTION: Jemima lands on a daisy and then takes off.
JAMILA: Hmm. Too wobbly. Okay.
[Lively music plays, Pip shouts, stomps rustle]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy run beside the garden, and Posy stops running two metres behind Pip.
POSY: Got you!
POSY SINGS: Stomp-a-stamp-a-stomp.
POSY: Yay!
POSY SINGS: I'm the greatest shadow stomper ever.
[Posy laughs]
PIP: But how did you stomp on my shadow from way over there?
[Light music plays]
JAMILA: Oh. You have to stomp on someone's shadow. I thought you just had to stomp next to it, like Posy's been doing.
[Posy gasps, the music stops]
PIP: Wha'? Is that true?
POSY: No. Well, I did one time. Maybe two. Or three.
PIP: Posy!
[Serious music plays]
POSY: Oh, oh, but I, uh—It doesn't matter. We'll play again! And I promise I'll stick to the rules this time.
PIP: Humph. My shadow doesn't feel like playing anymore.
POSY: Oh, but Pip, I'm sorry.
PIP: Not really. You're only sorry 'cause you got found out. Jamila, can I do gardening with you?
JAMILA: Um, okay. I was just going to get some more water.
[Footsteps rustle, Posy sighs, the music stops, footsteps rustle, birds chirp, water splashes, faucet squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Pip takes a watering can and walks past Posy. Jamila follows, pauses and looks at Posy, then runs behind Pip. Posy follows them to a rain barrel beside the playing spot.
POSY: Oh, Pip, I really am sorry.
[Posy sighs]
POSY: You looked so happy when you got to be king, so I really wanted to be king, too. But I don't feel happy at all now. I feel a little blah.
DESCRIPTION: Posy makes a face, sticking her tongue out.
[Light music plays]
POSY: I just wish, um-- I wish I never fibbed in the first place.
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: Pip puts his hand on the wall.
PIP: Posy, it's okay.
POSY: It-- It is?
PIP: I really wanted to win, too. Maybe not as much as you.
[Tap]
DESCRIPTION: Pip taps Posy’s nose.
POSY: Oh, thanks, Pip!
[Thump, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Posy hugs Pip.
PIP: Ooh!
[Pip giggles, Jamila giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy hug. Jamila smiles and points at the wall where Pip and Posy cast a shadow with two heads.
JAMILA: Hey, look. You're a two-headed shadow creature.
PIP: Huh?
[Posy gasps, Posy and Pip babble, Jamila giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Pip and Posy turn to the wall. They each put out an arm and sway.
POSY: Hey. Join us, Jamila!
JAMILA: Okay.
[All babble, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila stands between Pip and Posy, and they all sway.
PIP: Now, we've got three heads!
[All babble, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: They kick their legs and sway.
POSY: And lots and lots of legs.
[All babble, giggle, water splashes]
DESCRIPTION: Jamila holds the watering can beside Pip, which casts a shadow on the wall.
JAMILA: And a watering can.
[Everyone laughs, Jamila gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Jemima lands on Jamila’s head.
JAMILA: Jemima! You found somewhere to rest at last.
[Posy gasps, Pip gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Pip points at the wall. Jemima’s wings and Jamila’s two ears resemble a shadow crown.
PIP: Look! It's a real shadow crown.
JAMILA: Ooh.
[Everyone laughs]
POSY: Now, we're all the shadow king!
[Everyone laughs, Pip imitates trumpet fanfare]
DESCRIPTION: Pip, Jamila, and Posy dance, watching their shadow on the wall.
